Roman Candle Confront Childhood OCD On New Single “Can We Watch Something Happy?”

Roman Candle return today with their new single “Can We Watch Something Happy?”, released alongside an accompanying music video. Written from the perspective of vocalist Piper Ferrari’s childhood self, the track explores intrusive thoughts, compulsive prayer, and the fear-driven cycles shaped by growing up with undiagnosed OCD in a religious household.

“‘Can We Watch Something Happy’ is written from the perspective of my childhood self,” Ferrari explains. “I struggled with severe OCD growing up, which was intensified by being raised in a religious household. I just remember being scared all the time.” She describes the repeated lyric “one more time” as reflecting cycles of prayer, intrusive thoughts, and guilt rooted in the belief that even unwanted thoughts carried moral weight.

The single follows Roman Candle’s recent run of releases since signing with Sumerian Records in 2025, including “Fire In The Night Sky Forever.”, “This Band Has Led Me To Places I Wouldn’t Go With A Gun,” and “Nothing Is Original”.
