Holiday Heartbreak and New Beginnings: Lauren Spencer Smith Releases Seasonal Track “Last First Christmas”

Breakout vocalist and songwriter Lauren Spencer Smith is sharing magnificent holiday cheer with the release of her brand new seasonal song, “Last First Christmas.” This exciting release precedes her much anticipated performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 27. The new track comes hot on the heels of the release of Spencer Smith’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, ‘THE ART OF BEING A MESS’, which dropped earlier this year. Meet Your Heroes (and Hate Them!): Laptop Returns with Wry New Single “Indie Hero”

Cult NYC project Laptop, led by Jesse Hartman, continues their cinematic synth pop revival with their new single, “Indie Hero,” a wry and wistful love song to the myth of late 20th century cool, but also a hate song about hero worship gone hideously wrong. This track opens a compelling new chapter for Laptop, which is now a multi generational pop experiment with Jesse joined by his son Charlie Hartman as co frontman, mixing equal parts satire and sincerity. The single is the perfect preview of their forthcoming album, ‘On This Planet’, slated for release in Spring 2026 via Hurricane Cove Records.

Jesse Hartman shares the personal details that fuel the track: as a teenage guitarist, he once toured overseas with one of his idols, watching the myth of cool dissolve in real time, a moment that truly captured his youthful ambition colliding with middle aged madness during a fateful night in a Tokyo restaurant. The Hartmans sing: “I’ll dive across a table for you, my indie hero, I’m feeling so unstable for you, my indie hero” — a refrain that is half romantic, half tragic, and entirely reckless. Hartman commented that, “This is a love letter to the ghosts of the ’90s and their obsession with the ghosts of the late ’70s. All the beautiful people who never quite went the distance. Including me. It’s about idol worship, but also about outgrowing it.”

The fantastic video, directed by Jesse Hartman, reimagines that journey as a Japanese comic book fever dream: a young musician chasing his dreams and heroes across neon cities and sake bars, only to discover that the real revelation is not fame, but self discovery. Written years ago by Hartman and longtime musical collaborator Luke Wood (from Hartman’s first band Sammy), and recorded this past year between New York, Nevis, and Valencia, “Indie Hero” layers drums and machines, horns and synths, shimmering guitars, and the Hartmans’ sly vocals into something both nostalgic and immediate.

Laptop originally emerged in the early 2000s with three cult classic albums on Island Records, earning high praise from NME and The Guardian, who famously dubbed Hartman the master of “insincere sincerity.” Since reviving the band, Laptop has released the surreal trilogy ‘Additional Animals’, ‘I Don’t Know’, and “Weirder,” which were mixed by GRAMMY award winning producer Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Prince) and collectively drew millions of views. Laptop has recently staged an epic return to live performance with a 14 piece band at New York’s Sony Hall for their first hometown show in two decades, opening for UK legends Cast, and a headliner show at London’s Waiting Room. Three time GRAMMY Award nominated singer songwriter Rufus Wainwright has released a stunning new tribute album, ‘I’m a Stranger Here Myself – Wainwright Does Weill’, which sees him uniting with Los Angeles’ premier 40 piece orchestral jazz ensemble to delve into the rich and complex songbook of legendary German American composer Kurt Weill. Wainwright’s fascination with Weill’s music goes back decades; he wore out the vinyl grooves of Teresa Stratas’ famous Weill album in his early twenties and has long expressed his admiration for Weill’s unique blend of “pop music with an operatic sensibility, the profane with the divine.” Wainwright shared his feelings on the songs, saying: “The songs of Kurt Weill have long haunted my imagination and remain solidly mysterious. The album captures the fully orchestrated concert version of his Weill repertoire, which Wainwright performed on the grand stage of Los Angeles, CA’s Theatre at Ace Hotel in 2024 with the Pacific Jazz Orchestra under the baton of Chris Walden. Wainwright and the PJO brought a unique interpretation to Weill’s singular compositions, which are celebrated for their fusion of classical, cabaret, and jazz elements, with featured performances of classic songs such as “Surabaya Johnny,” “Je ne t’aime pas,” “September Song,” and “Lost in the Stars.” Captured on record for the first time, ‘I’m a Stranger Here Myself – Wainwright Does Weill’ also features guest appearances by Viola Odette Harlow and the Netherlands’ famed Metropole Orkest. At its core, the album is less about perfect preservation of the past and more about breathing new life into it—channeling Kurt Weill’s music through a 21st century lens with wit, grandeur, and unapologetic heart. London Band Rifle Announces Debut Album ‘Rifle’ and Unleashes Lead Single “No King”

Rising London punk band Rifle has announced their highly anticipated self titled debut album, ‘Rifle’, set for release on January 16, 2026, via Year0001. Alongside the announcement, the genre bending metallers have dropped their enticing new single and video, “Kinslayer.” The record is the sound of revenge yelled by the damned sons of London’s borderlands, dragging gut punch proto punk through the byways of anarcho and UK pub rock. These boys are battered, kicked in, cut loose, and furious, offering a raw energy that is completely infectious. The band initially formed when Max (vocals) and Ross (bass) bonded over music at their dead end jobs before meeting up in Camden to commit sonic atrocities until the small hours. Over the weekend, legendary Mexican rock band MANÁ delivered two additional sold-out performances at the Kia Forum as part of their acclaimed Vivir Sin Aire Tour, leading up to their fifth and final Los Angeles show of the year on Saturday, November 29. Friday night’s concert marked a historic milestone: MANÁ celebrated their 43rd arena show in Los Angeles, officially surpassing Bruce Springsteen’s long-standing record for the most arena performances in the city’s history.

MANÁ’s deep relationship with Los Angeles began in 1993 with their first local performance at the Hollywood Palace. In 2007, the band played an unprecedented 13 shows at the then-Staples Center, and in 2016 they began their remarkable run at the Kia Forum including LA Residencia in 2019—the first of any language arena residency in the city of Los Angeles. As of today, the band has 31 shows at the iconic arena.

Backstage, the band was honored with a celebratory welcome featuring the USC Marching Band, the Inglewood High School band, and the LA Clippers Spirit Team, along with their crew and Forum staff—whom MANÁ affectionately refers to as their “second family.” During the celebration, the group was crowned “Kings of LA,” and a permanent wall installation backstage at the Forum was unveiled to commemorate the achievement.

This milestone further underscores MANÁ’s profound and enduring bond with Los Angeles—a city that has embraced the band throughout their nearly four-decade career. Known for their electrifying live shows, socially conscious songwriting, and unwavering dedication to fans, MANÁ remains one of the most influential and enduring Latin rock bands in music history.

The Vivir Sin Aire Tour launched in September and will continue into 2026, with upcoming performances in Brooklyn, Miami, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, and Greensboro.

Goose has announced and released their brand new live album, ‘Live at Madison Square Garden’, recorded earlier this year at their historic, sold out headline concert debut at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The album is available now at all DSPs and streaming services, with a beautiful seven LP vinyl box set also available for pre-order. Recorded on June 28, 2025, the album captures Goose’s biggest headline show thus far in its entirety, including expansive versions of fan favorites like “Jed Stone.” The album features once in a lifetime covers of classics by Kate Bush (“Running Up That Hill”), Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes (“Don’t Leave Me This Way”), and Otis Day and the Knights (“Shama Lama Ding Dong”), along with a very special run of songs augmented by a three man horn section comprised of Stuart Bogie on clarinet and saxophone, Dave Nelson on trombone, and Andrew McGovern on trumpet.
