HADESTOWN Begins Performances May 15, 2024 at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre

After a sold-out 7-week run from July 5 – August 20, 2023, Hadestown, the winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best New Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, returns to Toronto in 2 weeks. 

Hadestown begins performances May 15, 2024 for a limited 2-week run through May 26, 2024 at Toronto’s CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre.

The North American touring production of Hadestown stars Amaya Braganza as Eurydice, Lana Gordon as Persephone, John Krause as Orpheus, Will Mann as Hermes, and Matthew Patrick Quinn as Hades. 

The Fates are played by Marla Louissaint, Lizzie Markson, and Hannah Schreer. The Workers Chorus features Sevon Askew, Jamal Lee Harris, Cate Hayman, Quiana Onrae’l Holmes, and Daniel Tracht. Swings for the tour include Ian Coulter-Buford, KC Dela Cruz, Timothy H. Lee, and Cecilia Trippiedi. 

The acclaimed new musical is by celebrated singer-songwriter and Tony Award winner Anaïs Mitchell and developed with innovative director and Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin. Hadestown marks the first time in over a decade that a woman has been the solo author of a musical: writing the music, lyrics, and book, and is the fourth time in Broadway history a woman has accomplished this creative feat.  

The show opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway (219 West 48th Street, New York) on April 17, 2019, where it played sold out houses nightly before performances were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Hadestown resumed performances September 2, 2021 as one of the first musicals to reopen on Broadway where it continues to play today. The North American Tour opened at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC on October 15, 2021. 

The show originated as Mitchell’s indie theater project that toured Vermont which she then turned into an acclaimed album. With Chavkin, her artistic collaborator, Hadestown has been transformed into a genre-defying new musical that blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale. 

Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers, and singers, Hadestown delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. 

Goo Goo Dolls To Drop Limited Edition Crystal Clear Vinyl Release Of ‘Live In Buffalo’ On June 21

On July 4th, 2004, multi-platinum, four-time GRAMMY-nominated rock band Goo Goo Dolls performed a legendary concert in their hometown of Buffalo, NY. Over 60,000 fans attended the show and braved a torrential downpour before and during the band’s performance in front of City Hall. The 19 song set included all their major hits including “Iris,” “Name” and “Slide” as well as a cover of Supertramps’ “Give A Little Bit.” Originally released in November 2004 as a DVD/CD combo, Live In Buffalo will be released on vinyl for the first time on Friday, June 21. The Marías Announce “The Submarine Tour”

Today, Grammy-nominated band The Marías announce their long-awaited and highly anticipated “The Submarine Tour,” hitting major cities across North America including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Toronto and more. They will play iconic venues including Radio City Music Hall in NYC and Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA. Last week, the band announced their run of shows in support of the album for Mexico City. The three-day event, which is set for Monday, July 15Wednesday, July 17 & Friday, July 19, will take place in Lajatico at the Teatro del Silenzio (Theater of Silence) in Tuscany. Once a year, this breathtaking natural amphitheater in Bocelli’s hometown bursts into life with the enchanting melodies of music. The Wiggles Release an EDM Techno Remix Album

Just when you thought you had The Wiggles pegged, they are reinventing their music for a whole new audience with the release of their first full-blown EDM album: The Wiggles Soundsystem: Rave of Innocence.

The album features fourteen EDM remixes of Wiggles classics, including earworms such as ‘Hot Potato’, ‘Fruit Salad’, ‘Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga’, Big Red Car,’ alongside a reworking of the group’s new viral hit, Bouncing Balls. It’s a vibrant celebration of joy, silliness, and pure fun!

Remixed by Lenny Pearce (of Justice Crew fame – and the twin brother of the current purple Wiggle, John) and DJ Dorothy (yes, the iconic Dorothy the Dinosaur), it marks the debut of The Wiggles Sound System, described as “an electrifying fusion of nostalgia and party-starting techno beats”, and “a pulsating musical journey that’s part wild dancefloor party, part toddler tantrum tamer”.

Hyundai Motor America and SiriusXM today announced a new, multi-year extension and expansion of their longstanding agreement. As part of the new agreement, the Hyundai and Genesis brands will introduce SiriusXM with 360L to their vehicle lineups beginning in 2025.

SiriusXM with 360L combines satellite and streaming content delivery into a single, cohesive in-vehicle entertainment experience, which provides drivers and their passengers with more content, better discovery and a more personalized listening experience. SiriusXM with 360L adds more than 100 additional music channels curated to match every mood, an expansive library of on demand content and a live sports category that makes it easier to find broadcasts of games and sporting events. The Global Smash Hit MAMMA MIA! Returns to Toronto Where It Made Its North American Premiere 24 Years Ago

The global smashhit MAMMA MIA! will return to Toronto to play a limited 5-week run from October 8 to November 10, 2024 at Toronto’s CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre.  

Just in time for Mother’s Day, tickets for the Toronto engagement of the 25th anniversary tour of MAMMA MIA! will go on sale on May 11, 2024. Tickets will be available at 10AM on Saturday May 11, 2024 at mirvish.com or by calling 1-800-461-3333. 

May 11, 2024 also marks the 24th anniversary of the show’s North American premiere. It played at the Royal Alexandra Theatre from May 11, 2000 to May 22, 2005. 

The sunny, funny tale of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads on a Greek island paradise, all unfolding to the storytelling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs, had its world premiere in London in 1999, where it is still selling out nightly having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Ever since this irresistible musical has captured the hearts of millions around the globe. To date, MAMMA MIA! has been seen by 65 million people in 50 productions in 16 different languages, grossing more than $4 billion at the box office.  

MAMMA MIA! opened on Broadway in 2001 where it played for a record-breaking 14 years. The show also toured North America from 2000 to 2017 with four different touring companies spanning this period. The production coming to Toronto is a new tour that is transversing this continent.
