The Tenors To Launch Exclusive Holiday Channel On SiriusXM Canada

SiriusXM Canada announced today the launch of Holidays with The Tenors, an exclusive new pop-up channel in collaboration with international, award-winning and multi-platinum vocal group, The Tenors. Listeners can tune in to Holidays with The Tenors beginning Wednesday, November 22 through January 7 on the SiriusXM app.

The Tenors are an international pop vocal group made up of four incredible musicians: Victor Micallef and Clifton Murray, and more recent additions, Alberto Urso and Mark Masri. For nearly two decades, The Tenors have been thrilling millions of fans around the world with their powerful songs, outstanding harmonies, and undeniable charm.

Holidays with The Tenors will feature holiday music, memories, reflections, special guests, comedy, and New Year’s resolutions, among other musings. SiriusXM Canada Joins Toronto Raptors As Official Audio Music Streaming Partner In Multi-Year Deal

Today, SiriusXM Canada and the Toronto Raptors proudly announced a new multi-year partnership, with SiriusXM Canada as the official audio music streaming partner. The two will be joining forces to bring fans the most exciting in-game entertainment experience yet, with SiriusXM bringing new Halftime Shows, a DJ Duel, Warm-Up Playlists, gamified in-app integrations and more.

The new partnership comes on the heels of introducing the world to the next generation of SiriusXM, including a refreshed brand platform and a new SiriusXM Streaming app, available across North America on December 14. The new brand, set to welcome a new generation of listeners, will officially debut at tonight’s Raptors game when the team takes on the Boston Celtics, and Canadian singer-songwriter Rêve will take to the court for the first-ever SiriusXM Halftime Show. Fans will be in for a special experience as one of Canada’s buzziest up-and-comers performs songs from her debut album Saturn Return.

SiriusXM announced today the launch of three new music channels, Alt2K, Flex2K and The Flow, which all join its extensive and diverse lineup. The exclusive and original channels will offer something for every listener, bringing a mix of 2000s hits across R&B, Hip-Hop and Alternative.

The new year-round SiriusXM channels were announced as part of SiriusXM’s Next Generation Industry & Press Preview event in New York.

Alt2K: Relive the energy, emotion and exploration of 2000s alternative rock from the breakthrough artists that defined the generation. Hear from Cage The Elephant, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, MUSE, The Killers and much more. Alt2K is available starting today on channel 313 and on the SiriusXM app.

Today two-time Emmy award-winning actor, comedian, writer, director (and swimmer) Brett Goldstein announced that he’ll be embarking on a second leg of his highly popular stand-up tour. The show, The Second Best Night of Your Life, has been selling out venues and rolling into multiple night runs. Now, Brett Goldstein will continue his tour across the U.S. and Canada into 2024, including a show at The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival on Friday, May 10.

Brett Goldstein — a breakthrough British creative force on and offscreen — has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after multihyphenates. He is the co-executive producer, writer, and star of the Peabody-winning Apple TV+ series, “Ted Lasso.” Hailed by fans and critics alike, season three made waves after surpassing its previous record-breaking haul, once again leading as this year’s most-nominated comedy series with 21 Emmy nominations. His scene-stealing performance as the brash yet lovable Roy Kent has earned him numerous accolades including two Primetime Emmy Awards for ‘Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy,’ making him the category’s first back-to-back winner in almost 15 years. Netflix is a Joke Fest, the biggest comedy festival in North America,  is back and bigger than ever. Produced by Netflix in association with Live Nation, the star-studded celebration of comedy from May 2 – May 12, 2024 will feature over 300  live stand-up shows, special events, table reads, sketch and more with the best comedians and artists in the world. For 11 days, the comedy community will take over more than 35 of LA’s most beloved landmarks such as Hollywood Bowl, The Greek, The Dolby, The Forum, The Palladium, Orpheum Theatre  and The Wiltern as well as historic comedy venues including The Hollywood Improv, Largo, Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store. 

The festival will also feature  Outside Joke – the hub of the Netflix is a Joke Fest With everything from late night live stand-up and cast games shows to laugh out loud lawn games,  Outside Joke is every fan’s chance to get in on the joke as they enjoy the best moments in Netflix comedy and beyond.

In 2022, Netflix is a Joke Fest featured 295 shows, with more than 330 comedians and 260,000 tickets sold. Netflix recently celebrated 10 years of creating original, streaming stand-up specials, as its members love the genre. More than 60% of US members watched at least one stand-up title in 2022 and every 1 in 20 US members watched at least 20 stand-up titles in 2022. Netflix has featured more than 200 comedians in more than 350 specials over the past decade.   

It’s already been a notable year for Netflix stand-up. The company’s first live streaming event was Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, which was the most-streamed comedy special in a measurement week according to Nielsen. The special also reached the Netflix Top 10 in seven countries. Mark Normand, Shane Gillis, Mike Birbiglia, Leanne Morgan and Matt Rife have also reached the Top 10 with recent specials. Also upcoming are new specials from Trevor Noah, Ricky Gervais and Dave Chappelle.

Electric Callboy Announces 2024 Tour

Today, Electric Callboy announced their 2024 tour across North America. The limited 6-city run kicks off on Sunday, May 12 in Silver Spring, MD at The Fillmore, with stops in New York, NY, Chicago, IL, Toronto, ON, and Laval, QC before wrapping up on Sunday, May 19 in Boston, MA at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. The upcoming run follows the band’s massive 2023 TEKKNO World Tour, which included performances across Europe, the UK and North America.

OHSOTO’KINO: Empowering Indigenous Voices Through Music Creation Now Taking Applications

OHSOTO’KINO is an Indigenous programming initiative focusing on three elements: creation of new music in National Music Centre’s recording studios, artist development through a music incubator program, and exhibitions via the annually updated Speak Up! gallery.

With support from TD, and building on the groundwork already laid in previous years, NMC is creating more opportunities for Indigenous artists to produce new music and develop their skills, and continuing to amplify the stories of Indigenous musicians and their contributions to Canadian culture. OHSOTO’KINO is a Blackfoot phrase, which means ‘to recognize a voice of.’ This title acknowledges the Blackfoot people and the territory on which National Music Centre resides. NMC’s National Indigenous Programming Advisory Committee will lead the direction of the initiative designed to forge stronger bridges of understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

The OHSOTO’KINO Recording Bursary program is open to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists. NMC will provide access to its world-class recording studios and “living collection” of musical instruments, which spans 450 years of technical innovation. Indigenous artists will have the opportunity to ‘use history to make history.’ Two submissions — one for contemporary music, one for traditional genres — will be awarded a one-week recording session at Studio Bell to produce a commercial release.

Applications are now open for the 2024 OHSOTO’KINO Recording Bursary program. The deadline to apply is midnight on Sunday, January 7, 2024 (MST).

Watch Talking Heads Perform Live at The Kitchen In 1976

The Talking Heads took the stage at The Kitchen in NYC on March 13th, 1976, delivering a live performance that showcased their early lineup. David Byrne, wielding his guitar and lending his distinctive vocals, was joined by Chris Frantz on drums and Tina Weymouth on bass. It was a prelude to the band’s evolution, occurring before the addition of Jerry Harrison and prior to their first official releases.
