0

Tom Morello is bringing some serious firepower to Maryland. The guitarist has announced the inaugural Power to the People festival, a one-day event headlined by Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, and Dave Matthews.

The festival lands Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. Organizers describe it as a non-partisan celebration of peace, justice, solidarity, music, and community action. Tickets are on sale now through powertothepeoplefest.com.

The lineup runs deep beyond the headliners. The bill also features Joan Baez, Brittany Howard, Dropkick Murphys, Cypress Hill, Killer Mike, Grandson, Taylor Momsen, Serj Tankian, Matt Cameron, the Linda Lindas, and Morello himself, with Springsteen listed as a special guest performer. Jack Black appears alongside Roman Morello, Revel Ian, Yoyoka Soma, and Hugo Weiss, and artist Shepard Fairey participates with artwork displays and a DJ set. It’s a stacked, genre-spanning roster built for a day with real purpose behind it.

Morello announced the festival Wednesday night during an appearance at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., where he’s currently touring with Springsteen. He framed the event around freedom, justice, equality, and rock and roll, pointing to the power everyday people have when they come together through music, art, community, and action.

The festival goes well beyond the two stages. A section called Freedom Village will gather nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, artists, and community partners focused on civic engagement, grassroots organizing, education, and mutual aid. A portion of all ticket proceeds, plus all net proceeds from VIP tickets, benefits VoteRiders and HeadCount, with HeadCount on site to help attendees with voter registration. More guests, organizations, and activities are expected in the coming weeks.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Makes Her Broadway Debut In The ‘Other Desert Cities’ Revival

0

One of television’s most beloved performers is finally taking the Broadway stage. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is set to make her Broadway debut in the first revival of Jon Robin Baitz’s Tony-winning drama ‘Other Desert Cities’, opening this fall at the Hudson Theatre.

The cast around her is stacked. Louis-Dreyfus plays Polly opposite Ed Harris as Lyman, Allison Janney as Silda, Joe Keery as Trip, and Lily Rabe as Brooke. Previews begin September 29 ahead of an official opening night on October 18, with the limited engagement running through January 17, 2027. Tony winner John Benjamin Hickey directs, and casting is by Jim Carnahan.

Baitz was candid that the return wasn’t part of his plans. He said he’d more or less talked himself out of imagining the play back in New York, but pointed to his deep trust in Hickey, who he calls family, and to a company of actors a playwright dreams about. He added that nearly 20 years later, through all the fractures and divisions, the play’s central questions remain the same: how to live with who we are and what we’ve done, and call that a life.

Hickey echoed that pull. He said he’s loved Baitz’s plays since the playwright began writing them, having acted in two early in his career, and that revisiting ‘Other Desert Cities’ left him stunned by how relevant it remains, maybe more than ever.

The play’s pedigree runs strong. ‘Other Desert Cities’ first premiered Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater in 2011 before transferring to Broadway later that year. It centers on a writer who threatens to publish a memoir exposing a long-buried family secret, igniting tension within her politically divided family, and it went on to become a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Tickets are on sale now through the production’s official website.

Performance Schedule:

September 29 – Previews begin, Hudson Theatre, New York, NY

October 18 – Official opening night

Through January 17, 2027 – Limited engagement

Broadway’s ‘Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)’ Sets A 2027 North American Tour

0

A pair of strangers is about to crisscross the country. The Broadway musical ‘Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)’ has announced a North American tour launching in fall 2027, carrying the feel-good hit well beyond New York.

The run is set to begin at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, before traveling to cities across the United States and Canada. Additional stops and casting details are expected later.

Producer Kevin McCollum framed the news around the show’s growing connection with audiences. He called it a funny, original, and uplifting story with soaring songs, theatrical stage magic, and knockout performances, the kind of thing Broadway does best. He added that the musical taps a universal truth, showing how the most random meetings can create family against the odds, and invited theatergoers to arrive as strangers and leave as friends.

The Broadway production is making its case nightly. Currently playing at the Longacre Theatre, the show stars Christiani Pitts and Sam Tutty, both of whom appeared in the American Repertory Theater production before the transfer. Tutty previously originated the role of Dougal in London.

The creative pedigree is strong. The musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, with Tim Jackson directing and choreographing after staging the London version. The team includes scenic and costume designer Soutra Gilmour, lighting designer Jack Knowles, sound designer Tony Gayle, music supervisor Nick Finlow, and orchestrator Lux Pyramid, with casting by C12 Casting and Stephen Kopel. The production is produced by McCollum, Tim Johanson, Glass Half Full Productions, and Jamie Wilson Productions.

Broadway’s ‘The Lost Boys’ Sinks Its Teeth Into A 2028 North American Tour

0

The vampires are leaving New York for the open road. Broadway’s ‘The Lost Boys’ has announced a North American tour launching in spring 2028, carrying the acclaimed production beyond its Palace Theatre home.

Cleveland kicks things off at Playhouse Square, with specific dates and additional cities to be announced later. Producers James Carpinello, Marcus Chait, and Patrick Wilson said in a joint statement they’re thrilled to launch in Cleveland, bringing the artistry, breathtaking flying sequences, and heartfelt family story that captivated Broadway audiences to cities across the country.

The show arrives with serious heat behind it. ‘The Lost Boys’ officially launched on Broadway April 26 at the Palace Theatre and has since picked up 12 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. It features a book by David Hornsby and Chris Hoch, with music led by The Rescues, a creative package that’s clearly connected with audiences.

The story stays true to its cult-favorite roots. ‘The Lost Boys’ is a coming-of-age comedy about brothers Michael and Sam, who move to a California town with their single mother and end up tangled with a crew of teenage vampires and the hunters chasing them.

Tony-Nominated Smash ‘Titaníque’ Sets Sail On A 2027 National Tour

0

The Céline Dion-fueled comedy juggernaut is hitting the road. The Tony-nominated musical ‘Titaníque’ has announced a national tour set to begin in 2027, expanding the breakout hit across North America.

Producers confirmed the touring production will visit multiple major cities, with initial stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, Charlotte, Oklahoma City, and Washington, D.C. More dates and cities are expected in the months ahead.

The news arrives mid-momentum. ‘Titaníque’ continues its Broadway engagement at the St. James Theatre while also running in London’s West End, and it landed four nominations at the 2026 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Co-creator and star Marla Mindelle earned a nod for Leading Actress in a Musical. It’s exactly the kind of word-of-mouth hit built to thrive on tour.

The show’s premise is its own best pitch. ‘Titaníque’ reimagines the 1997 blockbuster ‘Titanic’ through a comedic lens, threading the songs of Céline Dion throughout. It officially opened on Broadway April 12 after beginning previews March 26.

The creative team brings the concept to life with real pedigree. The book is written by Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli, and Tye Blue. Rousouli currently stars on Broadway as Jack, while Blue directs. Nicholas James Connell handles music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements. Tour casting has not been revealed yet, with the process overseen by Rachel Hoffman of The Telsey Office.

The road to Broadway was a long climb. ‘Titaníque’ started as a one-night concert presentation in Los Angeles in 2017, moved to New York’s Green Room 42 in 2018, then grew into a fully staged Off-Broadway production in 2022. Originally planned as a limited engagement, it became a breakout success and transferred to the Daryl Roth Theatre for a three-year run that wrapped last year. Since then it has staged productions in Australia, Canada, London’s West End, Chicago, and Paris.

San Diego, CA

Charlotte, NC

Joey Fatone And Paulo Szot Return To Broadway’s ‘& Juliet’ For A Summer Run

0

Two familiar faces are heading back to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Broadway’s ‘& Juliet’ has confirmed the return of Joey Fatone and Paulo Szot this summer, with the pair sharing the role of Lance across alternating blocks of performances.

Fatone takes the stage first on July 1, with Szot beginning July 21. From there the two trade off through the summer and into early fall. Fatone performs July 2 to 12, August 4 to 15, and September 1 to 13, while Szot covers July 21 to 26, July 28 to August 2, and August 18 to 30. Understudies fill the role on the dates in between.

Both actors framed the return warmly. Fatone said coming back feels like coming home and that he’s excited to have fun with the cast again, while Szot called Lance one of the most enjoyable roles he’s originated on Broadway, comparing the return to revisiting an old friend.

The rotation follows the departure of Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart, who played his final performance June 4. Nicholas Edwards covered the role June 9 to 17, with Reese Britts taking over from June 18 through July 1.

The wider cast stays loaded. Current company members include Gianna Harris as Juliet, Alison Luff as Anne, Drew Gehling as Shakespeare, Jeannette Bayardelle as Angelique, Michael Iván Carrier as May, Liam Pearce as Romeo, and Nathan Levy as François. Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Chrissy Metz joins as Angelique beginning June 18.

The show itself remains one of Broadway’s brightest tickets. Nominated for nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, ‘& Juliet’ reimagines Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” by asking what happens if Juliet chooses to live. David West Read wrote the book, and the score is built from Max Martin pop hits including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Confident.” Directed by Luke Sheppard with choreography by Jennifer Weber and musical supervision by Bill Sherman, the production celebrates its 1,500th Broadway performance on June 23.
