Super Bowl Champion Tim Wright Blazes New Trails in Technology with Headphones for Music Lovers — Including Those Who Are Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing

0

Tim Wright secured his place in NFL annals — catching six touchdowns from Tom Brady — and ultimately, winning Super Bowl XLIX with the New England Patriots. Today, the Super Bowl Champ, recently featured in Forbes, is once again making history as chief strategic officer of Dome Audio, the world’s first tech developer to produce “4D Fidelity, Surreal Sound, Bone and Air Conduction” headphones. However, unlike any other consumer headphone product on the market, Dome Audio’s OneSound D4 Headphones can also deliver a high-fidelity sound experience to users who are deaf/hard-of-hearing.

“After winning the Super Bowl, it was important for me to leverage my influence and harness the business acumen gained from the NFL to fulfill my life’s purpose. I’ve always been intrigued with smart, innovative technology, then one day my close friend, Ben White, asked me to check out a new concept in a headphone that he’d just developed. After experiencing them, I was blown away and I said to him, ‘the future is now!’ It’s been an absolute honor to be instrumental in bringing a consumer tech product to market that actually softens barriers — enabling people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing to enjoy high-fidelity musical experiences alongside those who can hear,” said Wright.

Not long after hearing the headphones, Wright joined Founder and IP Developer Ben White, to become a co-founder and CSO at Dome Audio Inc.

Dome Audio’s OneSound® D4 model is the first headphone utilizing 4x-patented, Surreal-Sound Bone Conduction to produce superior sound performance for a rich musical and entertainment experience.

Typically, headphones cover the ear canal, pushing sound vibrations through the air into the eardrum to be processed by the cochlea. Dome Audio’s OneSound D4 Headphone sits comfortably on the outside of the ear. Its advanced-engineering is housed in a proprietary design aesthetic that is fashionable, thoughtful and modern. OneSound D4 Headphones come with interchangeable noise-isolation Dome Covers that offer two listening options — an open ear mode to enable ambient sound or a closed ear mode for a deeply-immersive experience.

“The NFL Super Bowl 2022 brought in a new era for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Deaf performers, Warren “Wawa” Snipes and Sean Forbes seriously represented, signing for Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime show. Having witnessed such an historic event, I know that Dome Audio is ushering in the future of sound!”

Following best-in-class audiophile grade pressings of legendary jazz records from John ColtraneDuke Ellington & Coleman HawkinsBill EvansElla Fitzgerald & Louis ArmstrongPharoah Sanders, and others in 2022, Verve/UMe’s acclaimed Acoustic Sounds series is kicking off their anticipated 2023 slate with three more classics: Oscar Peterson’s stately and sophisticated Night Train (released February 3), Alice Coltrane’s spiritual jazz masterpiece, Journey In Satchidananda (March 31), and Wes Montgomery and the Wynton Kelly Trio’s jazz-guitar opus, Smokin’ At The Half Note (April 28).

As with all Acoustic Sounds series titles, the LPs will be mastered in stereo from the original analog tapes by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and packaged in high-quality tip-on gatefold jackets, replicating the original packaging. As always, all releases are supervised by Chad Kassem, CEO of Acoustic Sounds, the world’s largest source for audiophile recordings, and will utilize the unsurpassed production craft of Quality Record Pressings.

Throughout the year, the Acoustic Sounds series will feature one new release monthly from the Verve Label Group’s vaunted catalog. May 26th will see Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd’s immortal bosa nova album, Jazz Samba, which includes “Desafinado,” “Samba Triste,” and “Sama De Uma Nota So,” followed by Billie Holiday’s Songs For Distingué Loversfeaturing her imitable take on six standards of the Great American Songbookon June 23rdCannonball Adderley’s tour de force where Adderley goes toe-to-toe with fellow saxophonist John ColtraneCannonball Adderley Quintet In Chicago, will arrive on July 28thNina Simone’s genre-crossing Wild Is The Wind, with the standouts “Four Women,” “Lilac Wine,” and “Black Is The Color Of My True Love’s Hair” will bow on August 25th.

The Acoustic Sounds release of Oscar Peterson’s Night Train presents the complete original album, one of the many masterpieces recorded by the classic Oscar Peterson Trio with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen. Featuring a number of Duke Ellington compositions, this LP also includes the earliest version of Peterson’s anthemic “Hymn to Freedom,” celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

In honor of Wes Montgomery’s centennial on March 6Smokin’ At The Half Note is essential listening for anyone who wants to hear why Montgomery’s live shows were considered the pinnacle of his brilliant and incredibly influential guitar playing. He never played with more drive and confidence than he does here, supported every step of the way by a genuinely smokin’ Wynton Kelly Trio.

One of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All TimeAlice Coltrane’s fifth Impulse! album, Journey In Satchidananda, finds Coltrane on piano and harp in the company of saxophonist Pharoah Sanders. As NPR declared, “Almost 50 years after [it] was released, the album remains a vision of universal healing, spiritual self-preservation in times of trouble and the god that appears when you seek her out.”

Since launching in 2020, Verve/UMe’s all-analog vinyl reissue series, Acoustic Sounds, has provided definitive, best-in-class audiophile grade pressings of some of the most important and beloved jazz records of all time, each mastered from the original tapes and produced with the utmost care. The nearly four dozen releases to date feature many of the timeless, classic albums from the Verve Label Group’s stable of labels including DeccaEmArcyImpulse! RecordsPhilips Records and Verve.

The Acoustic Sounds series has been celebrated by music fans and the press alike for exceeding expectations. Of the Nina Simone LPs, vinyl authority Analog Planet exclaimed, “The sound of both of these records is the best that’s been produced from these tapes and both records are well worth owning.” Paste meanwhile declared, “the mastering engineers at AS have achieved some astonishing results. The Armstrong/Peterson collaboration is spotless, with a presence that makes it feel like drummer Louis Bellson is playing in the same room, and a clarity that lets little details and noises from these 60+ year old sessions float to the surface. The groundbreaking collaboration between saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist/vocalist João Gilberto is perhaps even better. The spell that this album of cool bossa nova casts feels as heady and intoxicating as ever, with guest vocalist Astrud Gilberto popping up throughout to curl around every note like a rich green vine. These are, without question, the definitive pressings of these albums.”

Ann Wilson of Heart & Tripsitter Announces Toronto and Ottawa Shows

0

Ann Wilson, known the world over as a founder and the lead singer-songwriter of the barrier-breaking band Heart, is here to stay.

Widely praised among the greatest singers in the history of rock, Ann’s extraordinarily powerful voice has been sending chills down her audience’s collective spine for over five decades, earning record sales of more than 35 million, an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award.

“Barracuda,” “Crazy On You,” and “Magic Man” are among the many songs she’s written that now reside in the pantheon of rock’s greatest hits. “Greed” from 2022’s Fierce Bliss plays seamlessly alongside the classics in her current live set.

Her latest album, FIERCE BLISS, was released April 29, 2022 via Silver Lining Music. It’s not just an album for fans of Ann Wilson and Heart, it is an album for everyone seeking a lavish ticket out of the sharp edges of an increasingly fraught society. FIERCE BLISS also marks perhaps the first time in her illustrious career that Ann Wilson has truly felt the wind in her wings, something which might seem a strange statement given her pioneering history. To cap it all, the album artwork comes from the mind and hands of celebrated fantasy artist Roger Dean, who aside from his work in fantasy art is also renowned for his Yes sleeve artwork.

This past year, Ann sang with Disturbed’s front man David Draiman on the duet, “Don’t Tell Me” from their recently released Divisive album, and lent her voice to Dolly Parton’s forthcoming rock record. From Dreamboat Annie to Disturbed, to Dolly Parton and beyond, Ann Wilson defies genre.

Prior to starting their summer tour, Ann Wilson & Tripsitter has been putting the finishing touches on a new album of original material. This year, Ann brings her show to venues everywhere with the same vigor and verve that she brought that one memorable night in front of Led Zeppelin at The Kennedy Center.

Electro Folk Artist Adrienne Nye Releases “Stardust” From Upcoming ‘These Winter Skies’ Album

0

Canadian electronic folk-pop artist Adrienne Nye will soon release her new EP, These Winter Skies, which she has teased audiences with through a handful of singles. “Stardust” was her most-recent drop, a song that the Montreal-born, Vancouver-based said holds deep meaning for her.

“The song is an anthem of change, and it really became an outlet for my frustration as a woman who still feels like I have to fight to have a voice in this industry, especially as I get older,” Nye explained.

She teamed up with Cody Taylor of Fiend Recordings to produce “Stardust.” Taylor also helped the artist produce other tracks on These Winter Skies, such as “The River” and “I Need The Light,” which have both already been released as singles. Nye launched her own boutique indie record label in December 2022 – Yaletown Records – and it’s behind the artist’s upcoming EP.

The song’s video shows Nye as an adult and as a kid, roaming through the woods in search of nothing and everything. The singer’s 8-year-old niece, Mabel Armstrong, plays the child version of Nye.

“We crafted the story of a woman reconnecting with her inner child,” Nye said. “The part of her that never feels good enough, that is young and vulnerable and just wants to be seen and appreciated for who she is.”

The video was shot on location at scenic Caulfield Park in West Vancouver in September 2022. Director Veronika Kurz and cinematographer Marcus Fung, co-founder of Workshop Film Company, operated behind the scenes to make it happen. Nye worked with both creatives on short films in 2014, reuniting with old friends as part of her latest creative endeavor. They shot two music videos (Stardust and The River) in two days thanks to financial aid from the Artist Development grant through FACTOR Canada.

Nye has a long history in the performing arts. As a child, she was cast in the only bilingual production of Les Misérables in Montreal and appeared in more than 125 performances. As a child, she had extensive ballet training at the National Ballet School, toured overseas with the F.A.C.E Treble Choir, performed the lead in Czech Children’s Opera “Brundibár” with members of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and more.

Inspired by artists like Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, and Tori Amos, Nye took up composing and songwriting in her early teens. In 2017, she formed the band, Fallow State, with a former acting school classmate in Vancouver, Olson Lloyd. Together, they released two EPs under the Fallow State moniker before amicably parting ways because of the pandemic.

In 2021, Nye gave the world her first new single as a solo artist in more than a decade; “Lonely Days” delved into the difficult realities that border crossings force on families and relationships.

Nye likes to utilize her own lived experiences in her work. In “Stardust,” she evokes the immense weight that the sky holds, physically and metaphorically.

“I often try to pull myself out of the minutia and remind myself that I am but a speck of dust in this universe, and no matter how frustrating life can get, we get to choose our attitude and mindset,” Nye explained. “I look to the stars for comfort, because they remind me that there is a much bigger universe out there, and I am just doing my small part to create a life that is meaningful for me. I always try to remember that, especially when things feel hard sometimes.”

Singer-Songwriter Matt Epp Releases “Live Free” Single From 13th Album ‘Rolling Wave’

1

International touring artist and award-winning singer-songwriter Matt Epp has released his 13th album, “Rolling Wave,” and his new single, “Live Free,” out now.

The Toronto-based troubadour has found himself on the forefront of the Canadian music scene for more than a decade. Epp’s confessional songwriting and intimate performance style have gained him a worldwide following and a 2017 Grand Prize win at the International Songwriting Competition. His songs, which draw on folk, blues, and Americana, have garnered regular rotation on CBC, Sirius XM and community radio.

“Rolling Wave” marks a transition into what the artist calls a new era. Recorded mostly alone in a converted rural “Art Church” on the shore of Lake Huron, “Rolling Wave” recounts Epp’s spiritual journey amid pandemic-era isolation. Epp channels themes of presence, connection and nature, embracing both joy and sorrow as equally important elements of the human experience.

“A rolling wave represents to me the cyclical balance of life; the sacred deepening of grief and experience of ecstasy; natural law and consequences; a powerful enveloping embrace and pull into itself,” Epp says. “One can ride the wave if they surrender to it, and be crushed by trying to control it.”

Epp says creating the album was a “playful, free and spiritual process” that helped him lean into life’s ebbs and flows in the face of devastating personal upheaval. The end of his marriage, the death of a friend and the loss of all of his belongings to a break-in theft “opened the gates of my heart to experience some kind of rebirth,” Epp says.

“I began to learn self-acceptance, self-love, and to know that I too held my own medicine; that I have the honour and responsibility to scatter it around the world,” Epp says. “My takeaway lessons included relinquishing my sense of control, giving thanks for difficult tests, and holding everything I have with open hands.”

Epp says he learned to record himself in the Art Church, affording himself more time to experiment with lush backing vocals and guitar layers than he would have allowed for in a studio. “The result is a sound more reflective of the purity and magic of the exploratory demo process; usually elusive to the artist trying to create perfection in the studio,” Epp says.

The uplifting single “Live Free” is a testament to following life’s calls to adventure, while shaking off the fear of getting hurt in the process. “Picking up speed, rolling down the hill/ Scraping your knee is just a part of the thrill,” Epp sings. “Do you bleed/ Are you taking chances/ Do you have loving arms around you/ Live free, whatever that means.”

He also explores the bliss of living life to the fullest on the jubilant “Made for Love” and its accompanying music video, featuring a playful Epp romping around in ankle-deep snow in his underwear. Epp recalls the lyrics to the song, which opens the album, just “falling onto the page.”

On the psychedelic-inspired “Inside Out Man,” a maple-sweet tune that nods to the late songwriting great John Prine, Epp touches on his struggles with intimacy despite his vulnerability on stage. “The Girl Who Walks the World,” a sweeping ballad recounting a journey through a natural landscape, was “inspired by the spiritual state of humanity and where our world seems to be inevitably headed.” And the Americana jam “Present Moment,” which closes the album, “was channeled during spiritual reflection on death, presence, and interconnectedness.”

“As it was born, I had goosebumps on my arms and I felt a sacred presence in the room with me. In my experience, it was a sure sign that a higher power was gifting me a song that had special work to do,” Epp says. “I truly believe that Rolling Wave marks the transition into a new era for me and my work.”

Epp will support the “Rolling Wave” release with an international tour in Canada and Germany, launching April 14 in Peterborough, ON.
