King Crimson Release Trailer for “In the Court of the Crimson King” Documentary

0

Official Trailer for the long awaited documentary “In The Court of the Crimson King” by Toby Amies. An official selection for the 2022 SXSW film festival, with a world premiere in Austin in March.

What began as a traditional documentary about the legendary band King Crimson as it turned 50, mutated into an exploration of time, death, family, and the transcendent power of music to change lives; but with jokes.

In the Court of the Crimson King is a dark, comic film for anyone who wonders whether it is worth sacrificing everything for just a single moment of transcendence. It explores the unique creative environment of King Crimson, one in which freedom and responsibility conspire to place extraordinary demands on the band’s members – only alleviated by the applause of an audience whose adoration threatens to make their lives even harder. It’s a rewarding and perilous space in which the extraordinary is possible, nothing is certain, and not everyone survives intact.

Recently, Tanya collaborated with several guest artists and friends on their recent releases, including “Higher” with Eddie Montgomery, “This Is Our Country” with RuPaul and “Never Again, Every Time” with Leigh Nash.

Edgy. Classic. Country. A defining voice of music and a modern-day legend, two-time 2020 GRAMMY® winner Tanya Tucker continues to inspire artists today. Born in Seminole, Texas, Tanya had her first country hit, the classic “Delta Dawn,” at the age of 13 in 1972. Since that auspicious beginning, she has become one of the most admired and influential artists in country music history, amassing 23 Top 40 albums and a stellar string of 56 Top 40 singles, ten of which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard country charts. Tanya’s indelible songs include some of country music’s biggest hits such as the aforementioned “Delta Dawn,” “Soon,” “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane,” “It’s a Little Too Late,” “Trouble,” “Texas (When I Die),” “If It Don’t Come Easy” and “Strong Enough To Bend.” Tanya is also the recipient of numerous awards, including two CMAs, two ACMs and three CMT awards. In 2020, Tanya received two GRAMMY® Awards for Best Country Album: While I’m Livin’ and Best Country Song: “Bring My Flowers Now.” In the fall of 2020, Fantasy Records released Tanya Tucker – Live From The Troubadour on October 16, the one-year anniversary of Tanya’s historic, standing-room only set from which it originates. Tanya was in the midst of resurgent visibility and acclaim generated by her Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings produced While I’m Livin’ album released two months earlier – so the brief stand in front of the West Hollywood tastemaker crowd took on a palpable air of significance. As someone who’s been center stage for more than 50 years, Tanya is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the album directly to The Troubadour. The country icon’s signature tequila, Tanya Tucker’s Cosa Salvaje Tequila, is now available in 14 U.S. states and Canada, with additional stores carrying the spirit every day. “Poly Styrene: I Am A Cliché” Doc Is A Must Watch

0

Poly Styrene was the first woman of colour in the UK to front a successful rock band. She introduced the world to a new sound of rebellion, using her unconventional voice to sing about identity, consumerism, postmodernism, and everything she saw unfolding in late 1970s Britain, with a rare prescience. As the frontwoman of X-Ray Spex, the Anglo-Somali punk musician was also a key inspiration for the riot grrrl and Afropunk movements.

The death of Poly sends her daughter, co-director and writer Celeste Bell, on a journey across the world and through her mother’s archives to reconcile their fraught relationship in this new documentary feature.

Featuring unseen archive material and rare diary entries narrated by Oscar-nominee Ruth Negga, “Poly Styrene: I Am A Cliché” follows Celeste as she examines her mother’s unopened artistic archive and traverses three continents to better understand Poly the icon and Poly the mother.

renforshort Shares New Single And Video “Moshpit”

0

Today 19 year-old alternative-pop singer-songwriter renforshort premieres her vulnerable yet explosive new single and video “moshpit, an up-close portrait of a destructive relationship.

Written by ren, her frequent collaborator Jeff Hazin and Alexander 23, and co-produced by Hazin and Alexander 23, “moshpit” brilliantly uses its title phrase as a metaphor for the chaos of a toxic romance (from the sing-along-ready chorus: “If I take an elbow to the face/One more time I think I’ll break/I’m not saying I’m a saint, but you’re hell”). Although ren’s magnetic vocals embody a quiet restraint at the start of “moshpit,” she soon takes on a raw ferocity as the guitar-heavy yet achingly delicate track reaches its epic bridge.

Says renforshort, ““I started working on ‘moshpit’ on a day that I was really overwhelmed with life in general. This song feels very unique in the writing, it’s an interesting analogy especially with the juxtaposition of the track being a bit softer rather than what you’d imagine a song called ‘moshpit’ would sound like. It’s about an annoying relationship where you’re treated like garbage and just keep trying to get out, but you don’t wanna risk hurting the other person’s feelings.”

Directed by Zach Bailey, the darkly cinematic video for “moshpit” follows ren through a series of isolated scenarios: texting in her bedroom; gazing out the window as she rides the bus at night; alone in a cold and clinical, retro-futuristic setting. With its dreamy sci-fi surrealism, the visual also finds ren encountering mysterious creatures made of brightly glowing light, perfectly amplifying the song’s unsettling quality. And in its final moments, the video mimics the mayhem of a mosh pit as the camera turns topsy-turvy and throws ren’s world into complete turmoil.

“moshpit” marks the first new music from ren since her critically lauded 2021 EP off saint dominique — a June release that drew acclaim from the likes of NME, who hailed her as a “pop-rock riser…unafraid to speak her mind.” The six-track project features standouts like “fall apart”: a bombastic pop-punk anthem that earned ren her first production credit and amassed over a million global streams in under two weeks. Soon after putting out the EP, ren joined Yungblud on his fall UK tour.

renforshort will hit the road again this spring joining Tai Verdes on his North American tour. For a complete list of tour dates, and to purchase tickets, visit www.renforshort.com/tour.

Named an Apple Up Next Artist (Canada), Vevo DSCVR artist, and YouTube Trending Artist on the Rise, ren got her start playing open-mic nights in local bars and released two independent singles before she’d even graduated high school. At the peak of the pandemic, she shared her debut EP teenage angst, brimming with seven soul-baring, alt-pop bangers influenced by everyone from Nirvana to Amy Winehouse. And she hasn’t slowed down since. renforshort continued cutting her teeth writing music resulting in her sophomore EP off saint dominique, a collection of deeply reflective and snappy tracks that range from acoustic pop to alt-rock to pop-punk.  ren infuses all her music with equal parts sophisticated storytelling, pop-perfect hooks, and unhinged punk energy. To date, that approach has won her a devoted following and garnered praise from such outlets as V Magazine, who noted that “her prose perfectly encapsulates the sometimes messy, often confusing, always angsty reality of Gen Z teenagehood.”

Pink Floyd’s “P.U.L.S.E.” Is Restored & Re-Edited For Release In February

0

Warner Music [Sony Music outside Europe] today announced that Pink Floyd’s ‘P.U.L.S.E. Restored & Re-Edited’, will be released for the first time on Blu-ray on 18 February 2022.

The P.U.L.S.E. concert film (helmed by esteemed director David Mallet) will be available as 2x Blu-ray and 2x DVD deluxe box sets, with the video footage having been expertly re-edited by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis from the original tape masters especially for The Later Years release in 2019. The cover design, originally created by Storm Thorgerson and Peter Curzon for the 2006 DVD release, has also been updated with photography by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis and Rupert Truman/StormStudios. The packaging artwork is designed by Peter Curzon from StormStudios, under the direction of Aubrey Powell/Hignosis.

This release also sees the reintroduction of the iconic pulsating light as per the original 1995 CD release, this time operated by 2 replaceable AA batteries. The deluxe packages include music videos, concert screen films, documentaries, Pulse Tour rehearsal footage & more, alongside a 60-page booklet.

P.U.L.S.E., originally released as an album in 1995, was recorded on the European leg of the Division Bell tour and the DVD and Blu-Ray packages include the whole live performance of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ – the only full live filmed recording of this seminal album. The concert, filmed on 20 October 1994 at Earls Court in London, saw Pink Floyd play some of their classic tracks as well as highlights from the recently released album ‘The Division Bell’. Standout tracks include ‘High Hopes’, ‘Keep Talking’, ‘Sorrow’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Comfortably Numb’ and ‘The Great Gig In The Sky’.

Nick Mason reflects on the original CD release and the pulsing LED light: “Essentially, it’s a device which we thought was entertaining. It’s an idea of Storm Thorgerson’s which related to The Dark Side Of The Moon and the pulse, and it’s a live album so the box is “alive”. After that, in terms of seriously deep meanings, one might be struggling a bit.”

Bad Bunny Announces His First Stadium Tour Across The U.S. & Latin America

0

Proclaimed the most listened-to artist in the world for a second consecutive year by Spotify, Bad Bunny has distinguished himself for his revolutionary moves that constantly impact the music industry. Today, the multi-award-winning artist adds a new milestone to his career, announcing his first stadium tour “Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour” across the United States and Latin America. Promoted by Live Nation and CMN in the U.S., the tour kicks off on August 5th at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL, making stops in Miami, Chicago, New York and many more before wrapping at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on September 30th, then heading out to Latin America in October. Tickets for this stadium tour will go on pre-sale beginning Wednesday, January 26 at 12pm local time. Subsequently, they will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, January 28 at 12pm local time on worldshottesttour.com.

Joining Bad Bunny as special guests on select dates in the U.S. will be GRAMMY® nominated DJ and Record Producer, Alesso and ten-time GRAMMY® nominated artist, Diplo. With his music and visuals, Alesso creates experiences that have made him one of the most celebrated live performers. Diplo is one of the most dynamic forces in music today with billions of streams on some of the world’s best dance recordings.

This announcement is a clear representation of Bad Bunny’s extraordinary  growth as a global superstar. Just after announcing his tour “El Último Tour Del Mundo 2022” in April 2021, which will begin February 9th and will tour 35 indoor arenas across North America, the artist broke the record at Ticketmaster for the most ticket sales for a tour on its first day of sales since 2018. Bad Bunny quickly sold out all 35 shows, moving more than 500,000 tickets. In addition, the artist performed his first stadium concerts in December 2021, breaking audience records with two performances at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico. There is no doubt that after such success, “Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour” in stadiums with an all new production will continue to elevate the artist’s career to new transcendental levels.

Over the past year, Bad Bunny has released top hits that have earned him the title of #1 Latin Artist in the US by Billboard for a third consecutive year and was also named one of the top 10 most popular global superstars. As if that were not enough, he is also the highest-ranking Latin act on Billboard’s general all genre chart “Top Artists,” ranking at #10, and is the artist with the most hits to reach the Top 10 of the “Hot Latin Songs” chart since the charts inception.

Adding to his great accomplishments in 2021, the artist closed the year by surprising his fans with the premiere of the music video for “Te Deseo Lo Mejor,” which he made in collaboration with The Simpsons. The series is known for bringing some of the most popular celebrities in the world to life in cartoon form and this time Bad Bunny caused a great impact with his participation, reaffirming his leading spot in the music industry.
