The work draws its name from Afghan pianist Milad Yousufi, who fled Kabul under the threat of the Taliban. He taught himself to play in total silence by drawing piano keys on paper, an unforgettable image of creative survival. His story intertwines seamlessly with testimonies from Ethiopian judge Getachew Bashir, Somali-born refugee worker Hani Ali, and Iraqi refugee Akil Aljaysh. They’ve given the world an incredibly generous gift by sharing these intensely personal moments.
