Tears For Fears Announce UK Tour For 2022

0

Today, the legendary duo Tears For Fears have announced UK tour dates in support of the forthcoming release of their first new studio album in nearly two decades, THE TIPPING POINT, which is released 25th February.

As part of the Tipping Point World Tour the band will be touring the UK in July 2022 with special guest Alison Moyet. Fans who pre-order The Tipping Point from the band’s official store will be eligible for an exclusive ticket pre-order from the 17th November, two days before the tickets go on general sale.

Also on sale from the band’s official store as of this Friday is an exclusive limited edition PINK vinyl version of The Tipping Point.

Speaking about going back out on the road Curt Smith said, “We couldn’t be more excited to start playing concerts again. We’ve missed seeing our friends on the road around the world and the energy of performing live.” Roland Orzabal shared “The Tipping Point has been a long time in the making and we are looking forward to playing our favourites from the new album as well as our classics from throughout the years.”

Arriving on the 25th February The Tipping Point is the band’s first album since their reunion album Everybody Loves A Happy Ending in 2004. Since then, the band have toured extensively, including a sold-out UK arena tour and in 2017 released Rule The World, a best-of compilation that returned the band to upper reaches of the album charts once more. In September of 2022 the band were honored with the Outstanding Song Collection Award at the 2021 Ivor Novello Awards.

When asked why make The Tipping Point now? Roland Orzabal says, “Before everything went so right with this album, everything first had to go wrong, it took years, but something happens when we put our heads together. We’ve got this balance, this push-me-pull-you thing – and it works really well.” Curt Smith agrees, “If that balance doesn’t work on a Tears For Fears album, the whole thing just doesn’t work. To put it in simple terms, a Tears For Fears record and what people perceive to be the sound of Tears For Fears – is the stuff we can both agree on.”

Tears For Fears were one of the most iconic bands of the ‘80s, selling over 30 million albums worldwide with singles such as “Shout,” “Everybody Wants To Rule The World,” “Mad World,” “Sowing The Seeds Of Love,” and “Woman In Chains” acknowledged as classics.

The Tipping Point is the bold, beautiful and powerful sound of Tears For Fears finding themselves together, once again.

Radiohead And Epic Games Publishing Present Kid A Mnesia Exhibition

0

Radiohead and Epic Games Publishing are proud to present KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION: an upside-down digital/analogue universe created from original artwork by Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood and sound design by Nigel Godrich to commemorate 21 years of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac albums.

KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION will be available beginning November 18th as a free download for PlayStation 5, PC and Mac at EPIC GAMES STORE.

Some two years in the making, KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION was originally conceived as a physical installation debuting in London and designed for portability, for possible travel to New York, Tokyo, Paris and so on.

A confluence of events including but not limited to laws of zoning and physics and Covid-19 would conspire to thwart those best laid plans, moving KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION beyond the physical world. Thom and Stanley, along with Kid A and Amnesiac producer Nigel, would join forces with video/computer artist and creative director Sean Evans, theatre set designer Christine Jones, interactive producer Matthew Davis, his studio [namethemachine], and game developers Arbitrarily Good Productions to reimagine KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION in a non-corporeal form that would enhance and emphasize the inseparable nature of these sounds and visions. Finally, Epic Games Publishing would be enlisted to put it all out into the world.

Everything experienced within KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION is sourced directly from the original artwork and multitrack recordings of those fourth and fifth Radiohead albums—all rebuilt from the original elements in a new controlled space without the limitations of stereo sound or LP/CD packaging.

KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION can be considered a mutant re-engineering of KID A MNESIA, the multiple format triple-album release marking the 21st anniversary of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac albums, released November 5th via XL Recordings. KID A MNESIA collects Radiohead’s fourth and fifth albums alongside the debut of a newly compiled third disc titled Kid Amnesiae. Exclusive to this release, Kid Amnesiae is comprised of unearthed material culled from the Kid A / Amnesiac sessions. Along with alternate versions and elements of Kid A and Amnesiac album tracks and B-Sides, Kid Amnesiae features the never-before-heard “If You Say the Word” (available now as a digital single) and a previously unreleased studio recording of “Follow Me Around.”

Colin James Announces ‘Open Road’ Tour

0

“I’m opening doors for you –walk through them.” -Stevie Ray Vaughan.

From the prairies of Saskatchewan to sharing the stage with arguably the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time, Colin James still remembers those words of advice given to him by the late, great, Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Colin James has taken those words to heart. His career has spanned over 30 years, with a track record that includes 20 studio albums, 7 Juno Awards, 27 Maple Blues Awards and multi-platinum record sales. His latest release, Open Road, is a celebration of personal connections. It includes original tunes written with long time collaborators such as Colin Linden, Craig Northey and Tom Wilson and reinterpretations of covers by a diverse group of songwriters including Bob Dylan, Albert King, Tony Joe White and others.

His 2018 album Miles To Go garnered worldwide attention, debuting on the Billboard Blues Charts and holding a position on the RMR Blues Chart for 24 weeks, 14 weeks in the top 10. He continues to sell out shows across Canada with over 80,000 tickets sold on tours over the past 3 years. Colin was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2013. Looking back over Colin’s career, it’s a timeline rich in highlights. His 1988 self-titled debut, featuring his two self-penned hits “Voodoo Thing” and “Five Long Years,” was the fastest-selling album in Canadian history. It won him his first Juno and an opening spot on tour with Keith Richards. His second album, Sudden Stop, featured his hit “Just Came Back,” which reached #3 on the U.S. radio charts and earned him the Juno Award for “Single of the Year.” Colin was next credited with launching the swing revival, thanks to his wildly popular Little Big Band, which has released four successful albums to date.

However, it wasn’t until 2016’s Blue Highways that James found himself on a blues chart: the album spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Roots Music Report’s Blues Chart. It also landed him one of his biggest hits: “Riding in the Moonlight,” a Willie Dixon song that garnered millions of streams on Spotify.

Over the years Colin has worked with some of the world’s most revered artists including, Bonnie Raitt, Albert Collins, Pops Staples, Robert Cray, Albert King, Keith Richards, Lenny Kravitz, ZZ Top, Mavis Staples, Luther Allison, Roomful of Blues, Bobby King and Terry Evans, John Hammond Jr., The Chieftains, Carlos Santana, Little Feat, Johnny Hallyday, Jeff Healey, and Buddy Guy. In addition to his own recording and touring Colin is a prolific songwriter, his music has been recorded by the likes of Maria Muldaur, Johnny Hallyday and Lucinda Williams. Upon his 2019 release Miles To Go, Colin earned the Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year, as well as 6 Maple Blues Awards in several blues categories. Colin has set the bar for consistency and talent in Canadian music and even after 20 acclaimed albums remains at the top of his game, always challenging himself musically. A consummate professional and a superb guitarist, Colin is a musician’s, musician. The confidence that comes with maturity can be heard in his voice and seen in his electrifying stage performance. He does what comes naturally – he always has – he knows no other way and no other life.

Tears For Fears Announce The North American Leg of ‘The Tipping Point’ World Tour

Iconic British duo, Tears For Fears, have announced the first leg of The Tipping Point World Tour in 2022, with Garbage as support. Kicking off in Cincinnati, OH on May 20th, the tour will see the band performing in over twenty cities across North America before capping off with their last show in Wantagh, NY on June 25th. The run will mark Tears For Fears first U.S. tour since 2017.

General on sale will go live on November 19th at 10 AM Local. Each ticket purchased for the Tears For Fears 2022 tour includes a digital download of the band’s new album, The Tipping Point.

Tears For Fears have just announced the forthcoming release of their first new studio album in nearly two decades, THE TIPPING POINT. Arriving February 25th, 2022, via Concord Records, THE TIPPING POINT is a song cycle reflecting many of the personal and professional tipping points the pair — and the world — have faced throughout the last several years. Pre-order the album BELOW.

Alongside the announcement they’ve also released their first single and the title track, “The Tipping Point.” Written by Orzabal and guitarist, writer and producer Charlton Pettus and co-produced by the band, Sacha Skarbek, and Florian Reutter, the explosive yet intimate track is filled to the brim with emotion. Inspired by a personal tipping point in Orzabal’s own life, this song captures the grief of watching someone you love lose their long-standing battle with disease. The accompanying visual, directed by the famed Matt Mahurin (Joni Mitchell, U2, Metallica), depicts the subtle and poetic portrait of imbalance.

Jann Arden Announces Her 15th Studio Album “Descendant”

0

Today, multi-platinum award-winning singer, songwriter, actor, and author Jann Arden has announced the forthcoming release of her 15th studio album, Descendant, arriving January 28, 2022.

Produced by Bob Rock, Russell Broom and Jann Arden, Descendant arrives as a 15-song collection representing the last 18 months of Arden’s life and headspace. A bold, beautiful, and empowering sound of Jann Arden, Descendant signifies a return to form for the multifaceted artist, reflecting on where she came from and where she is headed. The album is preceded today with the release of the heartfelt song “Steady On.” See below for the full tracklisting.

Jann Arden says, “This was one of the most organic, whimsical records I’ve ever written; all things considered, it could have been a wrestling match to make music at all. As the entire world has discovered, good things come out of bad things. We were all forced to strip down, reevaluate our lives and our jobs and our relationships. We were forced to think about what we really wanted and where we wanted to go. We thought about time and how precious it was and is. We baked, walked, thought, read, and watched our way into a big, altered state. We remade our lives and cast aside trivial unimportant things.

All the songs on Descendant came out of a place of gratitude. Working again with Russell Broom after a lengthy separation was magical for both of us. Russell was working on amazing soundscapes in his studio, intimate grooves and textures that inspired me just to put it all out there. I also wrote two incredible songs with Darcy Phillips. Darcy arranged all the strings on this album, giving it such a dignified, distinct vibe. An ocean separated Bob Rock and me, but we managed to use technology to write together over thousands of miles. It was fast and furious, and I didn’t have time to edit myself or second guess anything. So, this is a different record for me. Two producers, a pandemic, a lesson in my own personal history and looking at all of it through a kinder lens.

We all come from a long line of incredibly strong people. Women, in particular, my ancestors, I am in debt to. I don’t know how they survived being pioneers, constantly forging onward through impossible situations. It’s all very heartbreaking. These songs are about who I am and what I’m made of. A new beginning to an old story.”

With no plans to slow down, Descendant marks only the beginning for Jann Arden throughout 2022. Stay tuned for much more to come.

Descendant Tracklisting:
1. Unbreakable
2. I Belong To Nobody
3. Descendant
4. Was I Ever 13
5. Steady On
6. Moonbow
7. Loving You Is like A Job
8. Love Will Be Waiting
9. Good For Nothing
10. Coming Back To You
11. Horse Country Girl
12. Hindsight
13. Pink
14. In A Moment

How Can You Make Yourself Study?

0

By Haiden Malecot

Can you think of 101 reasons why you should be doing something else instead of studying? Then this post is for you since we’ll talk about a topic that’s really important to you: how to push oneself to study.

The learning process is generally accompanied by procrastination and a lack of enthusiasm. Disorganization, failures, and poor attention are all typical reasons why people don’t want to study. But don’t worry, we’ll show you how to become a productive student and begin to love the process of learning.

Why Don’t You Want To Go To School?

Many current psychologists believe that the notion of “laziness” should not be applied in general. Laziness is always followed by a lack of ambition and determination. As a result, it is vital to battle them rather than some abstract characteristic that may be considered as natural or vice.

  • The most typical reasons for unwillingness to study are:
  • Lack of motivation and willpower.
  • Procrastination.
  • Continual failures.
  • Disorganization.

These are the most fundamental causes, but they are not the only ones. It’s possible that you have poor attention or a low sense of responsibility; it’s all very personal. However, we recommend that you investigate the most common causes for learning resistance, which is valid in 9 out of 10 situations.

Motivational Deficit

You don’t comprehend why you’re learning, and you don’t perceive the true value of putting up the work. Furthermore, if the process itself does not pique your attention, forcing yourself to complete it will be quite tough.

What should you do in this situation? Find a source of inspiration. Explain to yourself the true value of a well-done task. Your goals must provide you with some tangible rewards. That is, although the top test grade makes no sense for you, the highest mark, which will later be important for university entrance or passing the state exam, is unquestionably a bigger motivator.

It may be difficult for you to keep your motivation at first. In this scenario, you may need to pay for essay for a particular subject but only use this as the last method if you have missed all deadlines.

Lack Of Willpower

When establishing automatic behavior, willpower gets weakened due to a lack of growth of the inner “I” and entire reliance on algorithms with the least resistance. Lack of emotional energy, as well as its wasteful utilization, are other factors that contribute to poor self-control. You must begin by focusing on yourself and removing the reasons.

5 efficient techniques to discover willpower:

  • The most difficult tasks are best accomplished first thing in the morning — begin studying as soon as you finish breakfast.
  • Keep telling yourself, “I can do it, I will do it,” as you praise and support yourself.
  • Encourage yourself by treating yourself to something you desire after a successful exam, or by going to the movies or a café following the next successful test.
  • Keep calm— our bodies go into autopilot mode when we’re stressed, so get some fresh air, sip some aromatic tea, and think positively.
  • Make sure you get adequate rest – it will give you the energy and strength you need to function productively.

If you find it difficult to do projects for all courses at the same time, you may delegate part of them to special paper writing services like grademiners. Willpower training will undoubtedly take time, which is why such services may be useful for a limited period.

Procrastination

In truth, procrastination is the habit of deferring crucial and urgent activities. Low self-esteem, perfectionism, a spirit of contradiction, and toxic psychological attitudes are all factors that contribute to this disease.

For instance, you could be putting off writing a final essay on the subject because you’re worried about getting it wrong and failing. If this describes you, you might want to read the following information, Essay Writing Service – Every Student’s Best Friend | TOP-4 in 2021.

What should you do if you find yourself procrastinating? There is no one-size-fits-all approach to overcoming procrastination; you must experiment with many methods until you discover one that works for you.

The Most Effective Anti-Procrastination Techniques:

Categorization. It is suggested that all work be divided into more important and urgent categories, and vice versa. Recognize the significance and urgency of what you accomplish. You will notice that you are more productive if you force yourself to prioritize the first and second categories.

Time management is an important skill. If time management is an issue for you, try time management and start arranging your day. Plan all of the essential tasks and allot a certain amount of time for them, taking into consideration any potential delays and rest breaks. You won’t be able to move on to the next job unless you finish the current one. Every night, make a timetable for the next day.

You’ve got this!

We admit that forcing oneself to study everything at once is difficult. However, by following the advice in this article, you will be able to become a more productive and successful student over time. All you have to do now is believe in yourself!

Watch Benedict Cumberbatch Read “The Best Cover Letter Ever Written”

0

In 1934, a New York copywriter by the name of Robert Pirosh quit his well-paid job and headed for Hollywood, determined to begin the career of his dreams as a screenwriter. When he arrived, he gathered the names and addresses of as many directors, producers and studio executives as he could find, and sent them what is surely one of the greatest, most effective cover letters ever to be written; a letter which secured him three interviews, one of which led to his job as a junior writer at MGM.

Fifteen years later, screenwriter Robert Pirosh won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for his work on the war film, Battleground. A few months after that, he also won a Golden Globe.

To read Pirosh’s amazing cover letter, here’s Benedict Cumberbatch (originally performed at Freemason’s Hall, London).

Montreal’s Alt-Folk RedFox Soothe Anxious Minds with New Single and Album

0

Canadian experimental alt-folk group RedFox are set to soothe anxious minds and reinforce personal journeys with the release of their new single, “Mellow Out” and album Stranger Love — available now.

Blending traditional folk motifs with an ambient electronic sound, the Montreal-based band spin traditional instruments like the banjo, violin, and acoustic guitar on their heads, fusing conventional bluegrass rhythms with alternative rock-based guitar and vocals — inventively applying them to modern electronic production in a way that maintains the sound’s soul and skill.

With two previous EP releases — 2018’s self-titled RedFox and 2019’s Recovery — as well as numerous singles and festival appearances to their credit, folk troubadours Jono Townsend and Tim Loten, vocalist and fiddle virtuoso Daphnee Vandal, metal drummer Sam Neumann, and prog-rock bassist Sam Robinson up the ante of their inimitable offerings with Stranger Love in a way they sense many can relate to.

“Inspired by our personal and collective life experiences, our goal with this production was to create a compilation that pushed the boundaries of the genre,” Loten shares. “It’s not always easy to make our various instruments and creative visions cooperate; we demand a lot of compromise from each other musically, and that really shows in these songs.

“It’s a dark album,” he continues. “Daphnee has never been shy about writing real, honest lyrics, and I think people will get a lot of meaning out of it.”

“It’s a song about trying to feel normal and function in everyday life,” Vandal explains of “Mellow Out” and its origins. “But… Our good friend ‘anxiety’ seems to be kicking around every corner.”

Their debut full-length, the 12-track tome takes a sequential sojourn of sorts through themes of mental health and personal growth — arm wrestling with inner struggles through to self-safety, and every personal battle in between. “Stranger Love’s opening track, ‘Play,’ is about the fight with the mind,” Vandal reveals. “From there, it goes into first warnings that something dark is clouding it all in ‘Sleep,’ before seeing the signs in ‘Shiver.’

“As song #4, ’Mellow Out’ is where we say ‘it’s fine,’ and ‘Circles’ becomes this insanity-meets-repetition cycle where we know nothing about any of this is ‘normal’ and we acknowledge an introspective conclusion; that reality is a more pessimistic existence than once imagined.”

Halfway through the release, by track #6 — “Runaway” — Vandal’s lyricism questions concepts of escapism. “Here is where we find strength, and experience a happier side of self-realization. Even though personal disappointments are faced, there’s a potential to shed that which makes for unhappiness, in all different facets of life: physical, emotional, or both.”

With night comes day, and soon “Try” swoops in to lay the darker side of self-realization plainly. “It’s about the acceptance of failure,” Vandal muses. “It’s about how devastating it can be to give everything you have to something that inevitably doesn’t work.

“It’s here where the clouds of one’s own haze and ‘rainbow mood’ part, sort of like a daydream, in ‘Hey Mister,’” she continues. “We start to see that everyone else is struggling too, and start to become free.

“‘Can’t You See’ is a song about the acceptance of realization and the desire to make choices that move forward, and ‘Invisible’ is about experiencing freedom while doused in the memories of greater times; it’s about discovering one’s meaningful meaninglessness.

“Song #11 — ‘Takes One to Know One’ — is where it all makes sense, and we realize we were never alone. The album’s closing track, ‘Sewn,’ is a reflection of the sad, but honest truth: we feel safe here.”

Stranger Love’s album art expresses how duality is the reigning constant through colour, composition, and emotionality; how, much like two sides of a coin, you need both for it to be complete. Created by Montreal-based tattoo artist J.F. Biron, the band’s vision for the visual was to convey the duality of softness and intensity, haze and definition, dark and light, foreboding and providence…

“We are all bound by life’s precarious and extraordinary cycle,” Loten says of the commissioned piece and its relationship to the release. “This is our time and, together, we are the observers of this wonderful chaos.”

“Mellow Out” and Stranger Love are available now.
