GRAMMY Nominated & Top 5 Charting Artist/Producer MALIKA TIROLIEN Wants To ‘Grow’ ‘Higher’ with New Single & LP

0

GRAMMY Award-nominated vocalist, songwriter and producer Malika Tirolien’s conscious lyrics and soaring vox are on dynamic display in this, her compelling new single “GROW” — available now.

“This song serves as a reminder to enjoy the process wherever you may be in your life,” Tirolien shares. “It’s about doing the best you can with what you can control.”

The fourth single to land from the Montreal-based artist’s newly released sophomore album, HIGHER, the 11-track LP is the second instalment in her tetralogy marking the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The series’ premiere offering, 2014’s Sur La Voie Ensoleillée, saw Tirolien’s powerful sonic poetry explore themes surrounding the Earth — it was about roots, and feeling grounded, she says, whereas HIGHER arrives as more spiritual and cosmic.

“HIGHER is like a map through the world of somebody’s mind,” Tirolien continues. “I see that person as a Black woman navigating between being a warrior, and wanting to cultivate her loving side at the same time. She’s struggling to find balance between her will to fight, and her surrender to love… The necessity to stay grounded, and the calling to elevate and fly.

“Her journey, which started with Sur La Voie Ensoleillée, is continuing with HIGHER — but she no longer walks, she levitates.”

Born in Guadeloupe and now based in Montreal, Quebec, Tirolien has garnered International attention throughout the last decade — including for her electrifying performance on Snarky Puppy’s GRAMMY Award-winning album Family Dinner for the track “I’m not the one,” and her self-produced, composed and written debut, Sur La Voie Ensoleillée (2014), which hit the Canadian iTunes R&B/Soul Top 5 charts.

She’s also the lead singer and co-leader of GRAMMY Award-nominated nine-piece supergroup BOKANTÉ alongside producer and musician Michael League — who also co-produced HIGHER alongside Tirolien.

CHURCH OF TREES + Rough Trade’s Carole Pope + Spoons/Honeymoon Suite’s Rob Preuss Release “World’s A Bitch”

0

Canadian electro synth pop trio Church of Trees have collaborated with JUNO Award-winning artist and legendary Rough Trade vocalist Carole Pope on this, their newest single “World’s a Bitch” — available now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnXQ5Io8iAM%27

The song and video relay a stirring sonic snapshot of the angst felt and coping mechanisms tapped when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the world’s desperate need for vaccine distribution.

Mixed and mastered by Jordon Zadorozny (Blinker the Star, Courtney Love, Chris Cornell, Lindsay Buckingham/Fleetwood Mac), “World’s a Bitch” is the lead track from the Ottawa-based band’s forthcoming EP, PAUSE — available this March from band members Bernard Frazer, Tara Hope, and Allison Stanton.

Also featured on the track, the pairing of Pope with Church of Trees came by way of former Spoons/Honeymoon Suite keyboardist Rob Preuss; while working directly but separately with each artist, he had a lightbulb moment, and suggested Frazer write something that might suit Pope’s voice.

“They say to never meet your heroes because they’ll disappoint, but Carole was in such fine form,” Church of Trees’ lead Frazer shares, brimming with excitement on his experience with the rock icon. “She was delightful!

“I’ve been a fan of Rough Trade since the 70s, and Carole’s voice and lyrics have always resonated with me,” he continues. “To write for such a legend was a dream come true; I leapt at the chance, and couldn’t believe she liked it!”

With her hit “High School Confidential” recently inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Carole Pope is the award-winning vocalist of Rough Trade, and also known for leveraging her iconic status to openly table discussion around LGBTQ+ sexuality in her lyrics, starting in the ‘70s. “World’s a Bitch” is one of several musical projects Pope is currently working on; most especially, she is dedicated to Attitude: The Musical — a stage production based on the life of her late brother Howard, a New York-based musician who passed away of AIDS in 1996.

Emotionally-driven in many corners of her inspiration, Pope thinks “the song encapsulates how we’re all feeling about being locked down…

“And, you can dance to it!” she adds.

As it would turn out, Preuss ultimately connected the dots for the “World’s a Bitch” video as well; producer and director Morgan Elliot of Suddenly SeeMore Productions is a school chum of his and reached out after hearing the song. “She suggested she could put together a music video to capture the feeling of the track,” Frazer explains, “so Rob put her in touch with me.

“We chatted about a DIY video I had previously done for our song, ‘End of Days,’” he continues. “I had sourced a lot of news footage about Covid for it — images of hospitals overflowing, empty streets, rising numbers, and such. Morgan suggested we use similar footage coupled with imagery of Carole on the streets, singing.

“At first, Morgan and the director of photography, Ivan VerLaan, ultimately decided they’d have better results if Carole was in the studio, and it was then Carole’s idea to source footage from fans showing their own related burnout scenes. Morgan really championed the idea and, between Carole’s and Church of Trees’ fans, we had several hundred entries within a week.

“It was so great of these folks to let us inside their lives like this, and show us how they are dealing with their own personal struggles around Covid.

“This, and they were so incredibly creative!”

Underscoring the universal fact of an outsized populous responding to — and living through — a global pandemic, footage poured in from all corners of the globe, including the UK, Sweden, Germany, Greece, and Japan — not to mention all across North America.

And it wasn’t just friendly fan faces filling the screen; Church of Trees members Frazer, Hope and Stanton — as well as Preuss and Zadorozny — are also featured. “Everyone really embraced the concept and sent back stellar footage,” Frazer says. “It was clear the video was about ‘being under lockdown’ and how each of us were handling it, so there was no need for generic footage anymore. The fans were telling the story — their story — and that made so much more sense.

“Morgan worked with Frank Cassano to assemble the final cut, and his edits not only tell the story of Covid burnout, but with humour. It was wonderful to see just how much heart everyone put into the project: the band, the team, the fans, and especially Carole… She’s a superstar.

Church of Trees are an Ottawa-based synth pop project that first splashed onto the scene with their breakthrough EP, Primitive Creatures, in 2017; the offering quickly resonated with new fans worldwide, landing them on a host of ‘Top Album’ roundups and chart-topping spots along the way.

Their sophomore release, The Dark & The Light (2018) made way for an edgier sound, while 2020’s follow-up, New Bold Dawn, continued to build grit and attitude into their now-signature sound.

It’s “Now or Later” for Saint Paul, Minnesota’s Hip Hop Artist ATR

0

After racking up 36,000+ Spotify streams alone, ATR has dropped his newly minted video for “Now or Later” — available now.

Produced by 9Gotti (GuerellaTunez), it adds to his 330,000+ total spins on the platform — including his latest LP, 2020’s Nobody Knows Me — and hails from his 2018 pressing, Microwave. The bass-heavy, digitally produced dance track is driven heavily by ATR’s signature rapping style and the iconic steel drum sample used in Soulja Boy’s 2007 breakthrough anthem “Crank That.”

To ATR, the three-minute track “embodies what perseverance is.”

Though born in Oklahoma City and raised in Los Angeles, the ambitious musician now resides in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Despite living there — away from the bumping L.A.-music scene, ATR says he has exactly what it takes to thrive in the industry.

It might be worth mentioning that musicianship is in his blood and DNA too: His brother is the aforementioned producer, 9Gotti, and both his dad and uncle made it onto the Billboard Charts in 1972 with their hit single, “Mama’s Little Baby (Loves Lovin’).” Though five-piece family band — Brotherly Love — were a one-hit wonder, they received follow-up success with two singles that year, “I Don’t See You in My Eyes Anymore” and “Bingo.”

Determined to make a name for himself on the scene, ATR has spent the last decade honing not only his performing abilities, but his songwriting skills too. As shown in “Now or Later,” he even developed — and mastered — the ability to create catchy algorithmic tunes. His skill sets span from being able to crossover into the pop world as a natural singer; drift over to R&B; and also showcase a vicious, lyrical rapping capability with his witty and relentless. Armed with these musical talents, ATR feels destined to become an international sensation — with the added goal of eventually becoming a Grammy Award winner.

Before even releasing his debut album, ATR garnered more than three million+ votes on the now-defunct music website BET.com, thanks to two top-rated singles of his own: “Turn it Up a Notch” and “What’s Your Name.”

Late last year, ATR released Nobody Knows Me and has received acclaim since then. He says the album title is a subliminal message to the masses that “when all is said and done” — and hip-hop-lovers hear the record — “you will know ATR.”

As well as Nobody Knows Me — and a handful of standalone singles — ATR has released three other full-length records: Igloos On My Beach (2017), Microwave 2.0 (2019), and “Now or Later”’s LP, Microwave (2018).

3 Critical Facets for Students to Become Effective Writers

0

Students all over the world, like the rest of society, are facing the impact of COVID-19, although in a more unique manner. Since most schools and academic institutions have switched to online teaching, it has affected their regular learning. Studying in a classroom is a very different experience from online classes. The personal inputs that students would generally receive from their teachers are something they miss the most.

Also, there are loads of assignments to be completed online. Completing school assignments on your own can be quite challenging, especially on new subjects. The good news is since we are living in the digital age and with the Internet to come to our aid, almost everyone has access to a plethora of free online resources, among paid options.

Those students looking for help to improve their grades and to assist them in writing better will find online platforms like essayservice.com to be of immense benefit. While there is no fixed template to make your writing exceptional every time, as every assignment will be different, there are certainly ways to hone your writing skills.

There are three common factors that, if followed, can prove to be invaluable in improving the quality of your writing. These are known as the 3 Cs of writing – conciseness, coherence, and clarity.

Conciseness

Conciseness or brevity is the ability to convey thoughts effectively with the least use of words. Every word used in a lecture, tutorial, report, or essay must convey its purpose. Make it a point to avoid repetitions or tautology as it will affect the quality of your writing. Some tips that you can use to be more concise and precise when writing are:

  • Use action verbs instead of infinitive phrases.
  • Avoid filler words wherever possible as they do not contribute to the meaning of any text. Examples of filler words are basically, just, really, highly, needless to say, etc.
  • Use a limited number of adjectives in the text. Using excessive descriptions makes your writing less dynamic and enjoyable to read.
  • Use active voice where possible for clarity and conciseness instead of passive when writing.
  • Keep the sentences and paragraphs short (4-5 lines is ideal).
  • Avoid wordiness and awkward sentences.
  • Make use of forceful verbs to make your text more descriptive and animated.
  • Avoid going into much detail or using non-essential words or phrases.
  • Do not add fluff. It will distract from the message and make your text appear poor-quality.
  • Do not use redundant words and phrases like “the reason why,” “each and every,” “end result,” “circle around,” etc.
  • Replace modifying clauses or phrases with a word wherever you can.

The art of being a good writer is making your writing impactful and effective. The selection of a single strong word as a substitute for several weak ones is always recommended. An effective writer uses efficient language to get across his message.

Coherence

Coherent writing makes the flow of ideas seamless. The aim is to engage the reader without any effort to follow the text. One way is to ensure a smooth transition from familiar to new content by giving a good context that relates to the overall picture. Every paragraph created must form an integral part of the overall structure. There must exist a link among paragraphs that connects to the overall text content.

For those creating academic content, paragraph organization must have an introductory sentence, supporting evidence, and conclusion. Since the structure is familiar to readers, they will not find it challenging to comprehend the main parts. Another way is to make use of transitional words and phrases or parallel constructions that help to determine links among ideas.

To confirm if the ideas are coherent, go to the beginning and read what you have written. Where you feel that a paragraph or sentence does not have a natural flow, use any transitional like conjunctive adverbs or conjunctions with link phrases to make the ideas flow coherently. They can be used to compare or add information for emphasis on ideas etc. Writing coherently ensures the reader understands the content easily.

Clarity

For all writers, the main challenge is to make sure that their audience understands the text and its objective easily. Before writing any piece, you need to organize your ideas. That is when you finalize the important messages that you aim to convey to the reader by analyzing the content before writing it. For this, you should create an outline and plan out the principal and supporting ideas to create a link between them.

The best way to convey any idea effectively is to use accurate structure and logic. You should read every sentence aloud to see whether it is clear enough. It is the simplest way to determine structural and logical flaws while ensuring the flow is seamless.

The choice of words also impacts the clarity of a sentence. Often, most novice writers and beginners use fanciful language and words to impress their audience. The result is, however, counterproductive, making the text seem too pompous. If the choice of words is not suited to the writing style, it could confuse the reader and distract them from the main objective.

When using jargon or technical terms, you should take extra care. Never assume that a reader has a similar background or is as knowledgeable as you are on a topic at hand. The ideal option is to use familiar and common terms or, at least, provide explanations. Try to use the vocabulary that suits the objective and style of the text. The better clarity the content has, the more it will engage the audience.

Final Thoughts

Becoming a skilled writer comes with practice and experience. Before putting pen to paper or starting to type, it is best to create a mental picture of your future piece. Having an idea of what you are going to write about will help you to develop a better structure. And using the three Cs and referring to online tools will go a long way in making you a better writer.

U2: The Virtual Road also marks the first time that three of these concerts – Slane, Red Rocks and Mexico – have been made available digitally.

The first concert will broadcast on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th 2021. U2 Go Home: Live From Slane Castle celebrates the band’s return to the legendary Irish concert site on September 1st 2001 for their first performance on the banks of the River Boyne in over twenty years. On March 25th fans can tune in to see U2: Live At Red Rocks recorded on June 5th 1983 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, United States on the band’s War Tour. A career defining show, the rain-soaked performance at the iconic venue helped establish U2’s reputation as one of the greatest live acts in the world. And another Grammy-nominated Dublin band, Fontaines D.C. will open the show with a performance recorded in their hometown last year.

The PopMart Tour stormed into Mexico City in December 1997 for a memorable show at the Foro Sol Stadium and April 1st will see Carla Morrison open for the band, only on YouTube, for a very special one-off performance ahead of PopMart: Live From Mexico City.

In December 2015, U2 returned to Paris less than a month after the November 13th terrorist attacks on the city for two rescheduled shows. iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE: Live in Paris marked the final performance on the tour, an unforgettable evening which included an emotional performance of Patti Smith’s ‘People Have The Power’. On April 10th, YouTube will broadcast the show for the very first time, with French band Feu! Chatterton on support.

“Every show is memorable for us but these four particularly so… It’s exciting to be on the road again… Embracing all the wonder of the virtual road… And especially exciting to be joined by such a brilliant line-up of fellow travelers in Dermot Kennedy, Fontaines D.C., Carla Morrison and Feu! Chatterton.” – Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry

Dan Chalmers, Director of YouTube Music for EMEA said – “It’s fantastic that YouTube is partnering with U2 for this exclusive broadcast. The four concerts featured in The Virtual Road are the most memorable and iconic in the band’s history, and indeed rock history at large. As one of the world’s best-selling music artists, U2 have been at the top of the global rock scene for the past four decades. When they perform, the world takes notice – their performances are always a landmark moment for music lovers around the world. We’re proud to be providing the platform for an artist that has come to embody the definitive live music experience.”

Sam Lunn, Head of Campaign Strategy, Island Records said – “One of the reasons U2 remain one of the greatest and most interesting bands in music is their desire to always break new ground. No band has managed to combine emotion, ambition, innovation and spectacle to produce such consistently brilliant live shows. With the announcement of The Virtual Road, and this hugely exciting partnership with YouTube, U2 are once again leading the way with this incredibly exciting virtual concert series.”

In September last year, YouTube, Island Records, Interscope, UMe, and UMC announced the relaunch of U2’s Official YouTube Channel with weekly releases of the band’s most iconic music videos and never before seen content on YouTube, all remastered at the highest possible standard. The coming year will see the band’s music video catalog remastered in HD and launched exclusively on YouTube.

Throughout their career, U2 has been known for their unparalleled creative vision and artistry when bringing their music to life on screen. As new and remastered content is added over the next year, their YouTube channel will evolve as a hub to celebrate the band’s 40-year legacy and the evolution of their approach to video. Highlights will include previously unreleased live, behind the scenes, and remixed content, and some of their best-known music videos upgraded to HD for the first time ever, up to 4K quality whenever possible. The project will result in hundreds of new and upgraded videos being added to the channel, and a curated experience for fans to be able to explore the depth of the catalog.

Puslinch, ON’s Alt-Rocker APRICITY Releases Smashing New Single, “All My Lies”

0

Months after bursting out onto the music scene without so much as a warning, Scottish-born, Puslinch, Ontario-based singer/songwriter Apricity has released her debut single and video, the alt-rock extravaganza, “All My Lies” — available now.

The Puslinch-based powerhouse first released the five-minute track back in October along with a spooky music video, which was directed by Jesse Read of Dropout Entertainment and Toronto Creative; the enchanting song and accompanying short film has already amassed more than 120,000+ streams across platforms — including 80,000+ on YouTube alone.

Sonically, the immediate smash-hit covers ground from alternative music to pop, over to rock and then back to indie. Though it might seem like a darker song, given its moody lyricism, it’s an easy one to tap your feet and sing along to.

Produced by Thomas McKay, “All My Lies” genuinely offers the listener a healthy variety of sounds — really good ones, on that note. Apricity herself says the direction of her music was fuelled by the creative inspiration of female trailblazers like Shirley Mason from Garbage; Alanis Morrissette; and Blondie’s Debbie Harry.

“I want to sing songs that move me,” Apricity said of the song. “I wouldn’t want to have my name on something I didn’t feel, and this song resonated with me on multiple levels.”

Though elements of Apricity’s musical abilities are reminiscent of many critically acclaimed female-fronted rock bands including Paramore, Evanescence and Lacuna Coil, Apricity — like those before her — has really brought something fresh to the modern rock scene with her music. In “All My Lies,” not only does she pack an unmistakable punch with her honest and emotional vocal delivery, but she’s even found herself with one of the catchiest (and most heartbreaking) tracks of 2020.

“‘Cause I’m the one who needs you / Lost in the end / I’m the one who breaks you / I did it again / I will never be the girl in your head / Can’t take anymore,” she sings in this earworm of a chorus — with a perfect blend of attitude and melody. This woman has what it takes to make a name for herself. Seriously, check it out!

Taking her moniker from the Latin word meaning “basking in the warmth of the sun,” “All My Lies” marks the culmination of a passion that has followed the recording artist all her life.

Even before immigrating to Canada as a youth, Apricity was a lover of the arts. At a very young age, she sang at pageant shows before auditioning for the U.K.’s iconic and ongoing ‘Top of the Pops’ show. Before kicking off her solo career and releasing “All My Lies,” she even appeared on multiple kids’ TV shows, before dabbling in musical theatre and enrolling at the Corona Stage School in England’s capital.

Now, on the cusp of what could be a big turning point in the singer’s life, she is nothing but grateful for the good fortune that has come her way so far.

“I feel so fortunate with respect to the way things have played out for me,” Apricity says of her breakthrough. “This whole experience just seems surreal. It is something I’ve been dreaming of for such a long time.”

Toronto’s Pop-Soul Trap-R&B Artist OLENKA Plucks the Petals of Love in New Single, “Purple Rose”

0

At 50,000+ streams across platforms and rising, breakthrough Toronto pop-soul and trap-R&B artist Olenka plucks at the petals of long-distance love in this, her new single, “Purple Rose” — available now.

“I recorded this single a while back, and it easily became my baby,” the Toronto-based singer/songwriter confides. “It was written about a relationship I had in the past; sometimes you meet someone who just inspires a sound…”

For “Purple Rose,” that’s an experimental word-play vibe and a lush video to match; there’s also a behind-the-scenes documentary detailing its making set for release this year.

The track eschews many of the traditional norms found in the pop genre — and quite deliberately, at that. “I have a very particular taste in music, but I’m also open minded,” Olenka explains. “I would say I’m influenced by all music — everything from radio hits, to rock and grunge. I listen to a lot of random music by underground artists, too, but I’ve always been determined to go down my own path.

“Ultimately, my music suits my soul and persona, and reflects who I am as a passionate, personal, and emotional person.”

While “Purple Rose” sets this tone for 2021, previous releases include last year’s offerings of “Break Yours” and “Worth It;” Olenka studied music at Fanshawe College and first broke onto the scene in 2019 with singles “No Game” and “Poppin’”

Canadian Rockers Cigar Club Release Heavy Hitting Double Single, “…Aliens” and “Swimmin’ in Gold”

0

In preparation for the release of their upcoming debut album, Day, Now this May, Cigar Club — the Toronto-based rock band — have just released not one, but two brand-new singles: “…Aliens” and “Swimmin’ in Gold.”

“…Aliens” is an instant classic: a pummeling rock-meets-punk track driven by one of the tightest drum and bass duos of the year. Seriously, fills galore! Percussionist Tyler Booth and bassist Jeff LeFort really pack a punch together on this one.

Better yet, the pair’s backing gang vocals — along with those of lead guitarist Dan Amato-Gauci’s — complement frontman Dan Amato-Gauci’s own smashing vocal delivery.

“This song is so much fun to play,” said the enthusiastic “Trev.” “It’s fast and has gang vocals and a wicked drum intro that’s just like, ‘let’s go,’” he concluded.

Dan revealed that the three-minute, 45-second rager was written about the” perils of dealing with friends who have issues when you yourself, also, have some unrectified issues.”

In the fashion of good old punk rock, side B of Cigar Club’s double song, or “Swimmin’ in Gold,” is led by a raucous, yet awesome display of guitar riffage by twin-axe attack Trevon and Dan. The latter rips a face-melting solo towards the end, before being interrupted by Jeff’s very own precision bass solo. The result is magnificent and emotional chaos after hearing Trevor sing his heart out all throughout.

On his intense and gobsmacking bass solo, Jeff simply called “Swimmin’ in Gold,” “fast-paced, balls to the wall, heavy-hitting, hard rock n’ roll.”

Tyler, the drummer, said it’s “the most demanding track on the (soon-to-be-released) album” and highlighted that while it was inspired by Queens of the Stone Age’s world-renowned 2002 release, Songs for the Deaf, he feels it’s truly reminiscent of the intensity of Megadeth’s beloved thrash metal music.

Cigar Club kicked off their career in 2016 after bonding over their mutual love for John Mayer’s music. Though soft rock and blues (with a hint of soul) was once their game — and will forever be a part of their playing styles — it wasn’t until Dan, Trev and Jeff found Tyler that they mastered their iconic and alternative, punk rock sound that things really started to pick up for them.

After the release of their first-ever EP, Cigar Club, and a year of consistent touring across Ontario — pre-COVID-19 pandemic, of course — the four-piece began garnering a mass of positive attention and developed a gigantic local fanbase, along with the fierce demand for more original music.

To help support their two latest rapid-fire singles, Cigar Club even enlisted a producer to create a brand-new music video for them.

Before the highly-anticipated release of Day, Now, Cigar Club are set to release two other singles — “Like White Flats In Winter” and “From a South East Asian Two Bedroom Condo” this March 20th and April 20th, respectively.

Joy Division/New Order’s Peter Hook Does A Stunning Rendition Of “Ceremony”

Texas Rangers Dedicate Baseball Field to Charley Pride

0

The Texas Rangers paid tribute to late country legend Charley Pride — the baseball player-turned-trailblazing country singer who also held a part-ownership stake in the MLB team — by naming a field at their spring training complex after him.

The Rangers announced the dedication Sunday on Twitter with the unveiling of the “Charley Pride Field” signage at their Surprise, Arizona spring training site.

Pride died December 12th, 2020 from complications related to Covid-19. At the time of his death, Pride was part of the ownership group that purchased the Texas Rangers in 2010; in the decade that followed, Pride frequently visited the team, including annual stops at the spring training facility.

“Mr. Pride’s first love was baseball. He pitched professionally in the Negro and Minor Leagues throughout the 1950’s before embarking on his Hall of Fame singing career of more than 60 years,” the Rangers said in a statement following Pride’s death.

“Mr. Pride then became a regular participant at Texas Rangers spring training camps in Pompano Beach and Port Charlotte, Florida and Surprise, Arizona, working out with the team and staging an annual clubhouse concert for players and staff, a tradition that continued through this past spring.” Even before assuming part-ownership, Pride was a fixture at the team’s spring training.

“The Rangers have been honored to have Mr. Pride be a part of the team’s ownership group for the last ten years. A longtime resident of this area, he was a regular at home games when his schedule permitted… Mr. Pride was a true gentleman, and we will never forget the lasting contributions he has made to the Texas Rangers organization,” the team added in December.

Charley Pride celebrated more than 50 years as a recording artist. He enjoyed one of the most successful careers in the history of country music and is credited with helping to break color barriers by becoming the first black superstar within the genre. A true living legend, he sold tens of millions of records worldwide with his large repertoire of hits. A three-time GRAMMY award and Recording Academy “Lifetime Achievement Award” winner, Pride garnered no less than 36 chart-topping country hits, including “Kiss An Angel Good Morning,” a massive #1 crossover hit that sold over a million singles and helped Pride land the Country Music Association’s “Entertainer of the Year” award in 1971 and the “Top Male Vocalist” awards of 1971 and 1972. A proud member of the Grand Ole Opry, Pride performed concerts worldwide and has toured the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand over the last several years. He received the Crossroads Of American Music Award At the 2019 GRAMMY Museum Mississippi Gala in November of 2019, and the Country Music Association’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award one year later in November 2020. On December 12, 2020, Pride died at the age of 86 from complications due to COVID-19. His memory and storied legacy will live on through his vast library of stories and songs, with forthcoming plans for a final album release, public celebration of life ceremony, tribute concert, and biopic film.
