Why experience matters when you need to hire a lawyer

0

We all hope that we will get through life without needing the services of a lawyer. If you can, that is great because it is a sign that things have gone well for you. Ideally, you will just need to use a lawyer when you buy or sell a home or need to make a will.

However, if things go wrong, you really should not be afraid to seek further information when you need to. Doing so will save you a huge amount of stress and will usually result in the problem you are having being quickly sorted out. But, you do need to make sure that you identify one that is suited to the job in hand. That means hiring one that has experience that is relevant to your case. Below, we explain why that is.

A deeper understanding of the laws that affect your case

If you have a car accident, it makes sense to hire a lawyer like the one you can find here. Personal injury lawyers in Houston deal with these kinds of incidents every week, so have a clear understanding of how to move things forward for you. But, should a piece of music you have written be copied and used by someone else then you should seek a lawyer with experience in this specific realm of law. The same would be true if you do not get paid for one of your performances. A car accident lawyer won’t have the necessary knowledge at their fingertips in the same way one who has experience of these matters would have.

The ability to be effective negotiators

While training, all lawyers learn the same things. They gain an overview of the law and how it is enforced. But, once they start practicing most of them go into more specific areas of law. When they do, their understanding of the laws that impact their clients the most deepens. They have a very good idea of how the judge will view the case and what the outcome is likely to be. Armed with this knowledge they are often able to put pressure on the other party to settle and do so in a way that benefits you. Over the years, they become accomplished negotiators, especially for matters that relate to your particular legal issue.

Easier access to expert witnesses

They will also already have good connections with expert witnesses. Often, they can provide evidence that will help to tip things in your favor.

Go beyond experience

It is always worth spending a little extra time searching out a lawyer that has experience that is relevant to your case. But, just because they have a good track record at dealing with your kind of legal matter does not mean you should automatically hire them.

A good rapport

You need to get on well with whoever you hire. This is especially important if your case is a complex one. Potentially, it could take a few years to sort everything out and be quite a stressful experience. So, your relationship with your lawyer could be a long one.

It is also important that you hire someone you can communicate effectively with. That is why it is a good idea to interview a few lawyers before hiring one. This list of questions will help you to do that well.

Shure Works With Musicians To Start #FoundSoundChallenge – Using Household Items To Make Music At Home While Supporting MusiCares Foundation

0

While people adhere to stay-at-home guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic, they are looking at new ways to maintain creativity. Shure, a global leader in audio equipment, is working with top artists from a range of musical genres to re-create songs using household items and posting their performance on social media. These performances will serve as inspiration to others to re-create their favorite songs by using items around the house, such as kitchen utensils, toys, books, furniture or other materials.

As part of the effort, Shure will make a total donation of $100,000 to MusiCares Foundation. This donation comes in a time of need as just last week, MusiCares reported their COVID-19 Relief Fund is depleted and was forced to stop accepting new applications until more money is raised.

Artists Shure has recruited to help with the initial wave of performances include Jacob Collier and Scarypoolparty. Artists will post performances to their Instagram feed and will be shared across Shure social channels including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Jacob Collier kicked things off with his re-creation this past Tuesday, May 12.

“Music continues to be a central part of our lives and I think we’re all looking for ways to unlock creativity while we’re spending more time at home,” said Erik Vaveris, Vice President of Global Marketing at Shure. “This is one way we can have fun while supporting a great cause.”

About MusiCares Foundationis a non-profit organization established in 1989 and incorporated in 1993 by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Meant for musicians to have a place to turn in times of financial, personal, or medical crisis, its primary purpose is to focus the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues which directly impact the health and welfare of the music community. The foundation’s programs include emergency financial assistance, addiction recovery, outreach and leadership activities, and senior housing. MusiCares also offers hearing clinics backstage at several major festivals around the U.S. to help musicians protect their ears. Since 1989, MusiCares has distributed more than $48 million to artists in need.

The Prince Estate in Partnership with Legacy Recordings Announce Live at The Aladdin Las Vegas Sampler EP and Curated Live Video Playlists

0

Today The Prince Estate and Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, are pleased to announce the release of Live at The Aladdin Las Vegas Sampler to all streaming platforms. The EP digitally mirrors a physical promo release that Prince sent to U.S. radio stations in the summer of 2003 to promote the Live at the Aladdin Las Vegas DVD, which will be reissued as part of the five-disc set Up All Nite With Prince by The Prince Estate and Legacy Recordings on May 29. The four-song EP was captured at the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts on December 15, 2002, and includes live versions of “Pop Live,” “Gotta Broken Heart,” “Strange Relationship,” and “Sometimes it Snows in April.”

Additionally, songs from this release and other live audio recordings from across the Prince catalog have been curated into playlists across digital streaming partners to allow fans to hear the wonder of Prince live. These playlists include hits, fan favorites, and amazing covers.

For those not content to solely engage with Prince’s live performances as listening experiences, The Prince Estate has also been adding dozens of live performance clips to the official Prince YouTube channel, offering fans an evolving library of iconic concert moments that showcase Prince as a truly transcendent and singularly unique performer. A number of full concerts are now available on the official Prince YouTube channel, and The Prince Estate has curated a definitive Prince Live Video Playlist that spans decades of his career, from 1982’s 1999 Tour to his iconic performance at the Super Bowl and his more recent 3RDEYEGIRL era.

This celebration of Prince as an unparalleled and boundless live performer will culminate in the two-hour, star-studded tribute special. The Recording Academy®, AEG Ehrlich Ventures and CBS will celebrate 38-time GRAMMY nominee and seven-time GRAMMY winner Prince with a special broadcast of “Let’s Go Crazy: The GRAMMY Salute To Prince” on Tuesday, April 21 (9:00–11:00 p.m. ET) on the CBS Television Network and streaming on CBS All Access. The broadcast will include performances of Prince’s hits by collaborators Sheila E., The Revolution, and Morris Day and The Time, and GRAMMY-winning artists Beck, Gary Clark Jr., Common, Earth, Wind & Fire, Foo Fighters, H.E.R., Juanes, John Legend, Chris Martin, Miguel, St. Vincent, and Mavis Staples, plus special appearances by Fred Armisen, Naomi Campbell, Misty Copeland, FKA Twigs and Jimmy Jam.

And on May 29, fans will be able to connect even more deeply to Prince’s legacy as the ultimate live performer. As previously announced, Prince’s first official live albums, One Nite Alone…Live! and One Nite Alone: The Aftershow…It Ain’t Over! will be released on vinyl for the very first time as part of the next wave of official releases, along with his early 2000s studio albums The Rainbow Children and One Nite Alone…. In addition to being reissued individually on LP, the five-disc set Up All Nite with Prince: The One Nite Alone Collection will combine One Nite Alone…, the two live albums, and the long-out-of-print bonus DVD Prince Live at The Aladdin Las Vegas in a beautiful slipcase with a 48-page bound book, for an amazing document of the musical breadth of early 21st century Prince.

Hootie & The Blowfish Release Cover of R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion”

0

Today, Hootie & The Blowfish released an Amazon Original cover of R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion,” available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.

“When we were cutting our teeth as a band, almost every night fans would hear us on stage covering R.E.M.,” shares Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker from his home in South Carolina. “‘Losing My Religion’ is a song that when you first listen to it, you can feel the struggle, the back-and-forth. Plus, Peter Buck wrote the song on mandolin, and being in the south, it’s a lot of fun to perform live. We’re releasing it as a cover with Amazon Music as I think it’s still as thrilling to people today as it was when it was first released.”

With the rich, bluesy vocals of Darius Rucker and gleeful harmonies of guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber and drummer Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, Hootie & the Blowfish sold over 25 million records worldwide after their infectious melodies hit the airwaves in 1994 with hits such as “Hold My Hand”, “Let Her Cry” and “Only Wanna Be With You.”

The band’s 2019 Group Therapy Tour saw the band play to sold-out crowds across the U.S. and Canada, including two nights at the iconic Madison Square Garden, as well as a run of shows throughout the UK and Ireland. The triumphant return to the road earned Hootie & the Blowfish several prominent profiles recognizing their important musical legacy, including the cover story of the New York Times Arts & Leisure section. On November 1, 2019, they released their first new music in nearly 15 years with Imperfect Circle, named one of the “biggest albums to hear this season” by Entertainment Weekly and featuring radio single “Hold On.”

Amazon Music listeners can find Hootie’s cover of “Losing My Religion” on the “Certified Country” playlist, Amazon Music’s stage for country fans looking for a collection of smashes from the best names in country music. Amazon Music customers can also simply ask, “Alexa play the Amazon Original by Hootie & The Blowfish” in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to the new track, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originals featuring both emerging and established artists across numerous genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
