Sass Jordan rocks the blues on new album Rebel Moon Blues, available March 13, 2020; Touring around the world with ‘A Bowie Celebration’

0

Canadian JUNO and Billboard Best Female Rock Vocalist award winner Sass Jordan today announces the release of her new album, Rebel Moon Blues — available March 13, 2020 via Stony Plain Records.

With more than a million records sold worldwide, Sass Jordan delivers the eight-song album spotlighting her signature vox in a wholly-dedicated blues endeavor across seven diligently selected covers — plus one knockout original, “The Key.”

“The Blues has been there through my entire career. People have always said, ‘You’re so bluesy.’ And it’s true. My singing is blues-inflected. My songs use blues-type licks. I didn’t do any of that on purpose. It isn’t contrived. It’s just me.”

Co-produced by Sass and D#, Rebel Moon Blues serves as a watershed that charts a new course in Jordan’s musical voyage while tracing her love of the blues back to its source. All killer and no filler, the album features the inimitably raspy rock goddess jubilantly celebrating the songs, sounds and styles of everyone from old masters like Willie Dixon, Elmore James and Freddie King to younger, louder guns like Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher.

Nailing down the crate-digging setlist was both a labor of love and a trip down the rabbit hole. “I wasn’t following any formula. I knew they had to be songs I loved and could really sink my teeth into,” she says.

Cut off the cuff and on the fly in just three fast-paced days, Jordan and the Champagne Hookers — her touring band of guitarists Chris Caddell and Jimmy Reid, bassist Derrick Brady and drummer Cassius Pereira, augmented by blues harp master Steve Marriner and keyboardist Jesse O’Brien — played live in the same room at the same time. “The energy is so different when you’re playing it live,” Jordan says. “It’s a different frequency, a different vibe. It’s very joyous. You can hear a lot of us laughing on there. I love that kind of thing.

“It’s like you’re right there with us. We’re there, we’re live, and we’re having a blast, baby!”

And no changing the lyrics either. “To me, what makes these songs fresh, besides our energy, is that it’s a female doing traditionally male stuff. And I sing the lyrics the way it was written… If the singer’s singing about, ‘My girl,’ I sing, ‘My girl.’ That’s what puts the icing on the cake. I like approaching the songs the way they were written. I find that not messing with the original gender is particularly relevant in today’s climate. It’s great that we can get away with doing that now.”

A pioneer of powerful, gritty female-fronted rock, Jordan has worked alongside fellow greats like Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and Van Halen, among many more. She is currently on an International 30-date tour — including Tel Aviv, San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, and Canadian stops in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto — with A Bowie Celebration, the critically acclaimed, one-of-a-kind roving tribute to the late legend, featuring a distinct alumni of former bandmates. Dates are below.

Born in Birmingham, U.K and raised in Montreal, she launched her solo career with the single “Tell Somebody” from her 1988 debut of the same name, garnering national acclaim and a JUNO Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. Throughout her career, she’s earned three more nominations for Best Female Vocalist thanks to albums like Racine (1992), Rats (1994), Present (1997), Hot Gossip (2000), Get What You Give (2006), From Dusk Til Dawn (2009) and her side project S.U.N.’s album, Something Unto Nothing (2011) — along with singles like “Make You A Believer,” “You Don’t Have to Remind Me,” “Sun’s Gonna Rise” and 1992’s “Trust in Me,” a duet with Joe Cocker from the record-selling Bodyguard soundtrack.

Jordan starred in the off-Broadway Janis Joplin show, Love Janis, performed The Vagina Monologues in Winnipeg and Toronto, guest starred on NBC’s Sisters, and of course, weighed in as the only female judge on Canadian Idol for all six seasons beginning in 2003.

In 2017, she released Racine Revisited, recreating her sophomore album with an all-star cast for its 25th anniversary. This year, Rats celebrated the same milestone with a colored-vinyl reissue.

“It’s surreal,” she acknowledges. “When you hear ‘25th anniversary,’ you’re like, ‘WTF?’ I don’t really remember the person that wrote them. I’m not that person now. But then it passes. Because it’s another day! It’s now! And I have more fun now than I’ve ever had.

“My voice is better now than it’s ever been. I can hit notes that I never could before. I feel the exact opposite of a lot of people. I feel the voice gets better with age. Hell, everything gets better with age!”

Not surprisingly, she’s less concerned with what she’s done than what’s coming next. That includes a new brand, Rebel Moon Whisky, along with her Kick Ass Sass wine. “Whisky is my spirit animal,” she laughs. “There aren’t any female singers doing a whisky line yet, that I know of. It’s a whole new thing! Besides, what goes better with blues than whisky or wine?”
And rest assured, there’s plenty more blues to come from Jordan. “I definitely want to do some more recording in this style. I loved every second of it. It all happened so easily and it just made so much sense.

“I’m not reinventing the wheel. Never have, never will… But this opens up a whole new world for me, and it’s one that I belong in and feel at home in already!”

Rebel Moon Blues is available March 13, 2020.

Dave Matthews Band Announces 2020 North American Summer Tour

0

Today, Dave Matthews Band announced dates for its 2020 North American summer tour, which will launch with a two-night stand on June 16th in Uncasville, CT at Mohegan Sun Arena. The headline run will also include two-night stands in Noblesville, IN, Chicago, IL, Saratoga Springs, NY, Gilford, NH, West Palm Beach, FL, Irvine, CA and Durant, OK.

Returning to the Gorge Amphitheatre for its traditional three-night Labor Day run, the band will be joined over the weekend by support artists Mavis Staples, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, Allen Stone, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and Dumpstafunk.

Dave Matthews Band is committing to help plant one million trees as a collective effort with The Dreaming Tree Wines and DocuSign. The band invites concertgoers to join them in this mission by contributing an optional donation of $2 per ticket to plant a tree with The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign – a major forest restoration effort with a goal of planting a billion trees around the world by 2025. This year’s annual eco-village will feature a heavy emphasis on the tree-planting campaign. Tour greening efforts and the eco-village are in partnership with DocuSign and REVERB.

Dave Matthews Band, who was named a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador in 2019, will be neutralizing the biggest contributor to a concert’s carbon footprint – fan travel. In addition to the band’s footprint, REVERB will be calculating the carbon footprint associated with fan travel to DMB shows in 2020 and the band will be neutralizing these emissions by supporting carbon reduction projects. The band has a long history of reducing their environmental footprint and neutralizing tour carbon emissions from flights, busses and trucks, hotel stays and venue energy use going back to their first shows in 1991.

Dave Matthews Band has sold more than 25 million tickets since its inception and a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined. With the release of 2018’s Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The New York Times, in a Critic’s Pick review, observed, “willed optimism fills the songs on ‘Come Tomorrow,’ while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot.”

Rammstein Announce First Ever North American Stadium Tour

This year will see the North American debut of the most extreme spectacle in live music, when RAMMSTEIN brings its full-scale stadium production to this continent for the first time ever. Rock n roll’s most ambitious pyro-theatrical experience will be on display for a series of 10 open-air dates beginning August 20 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal and setting eight U.S. stadiums ablaze before a final bonfire at Foro Sol in Mexico City on September 27.

RAMMSTEIN’s six-man lineup CHRISTOPH SCHNEIDER, FLAKE LORENZ, OLIVER RIEDEL, PAUL LANDERS, RICHARD Z. KRUSPE, and TILL LINDEMANN, has remained unchanged since the band’s 1994 formation and 1995 release of its debut album, HERZELEID. RAMMSTEIN’s second album, SEHNSUCHT, released in 1997, propelled the band to international fame and featured the GRAMMY-nominated single “DU HAST.” MUTTER, the third RAMMSTEIN album, was released in 2001 and was supported by what would be the band’s final U.S. tour for nearly a decade. REISE, REISE, the band’s fourth studio album, was released in 2004, preceded by the GRAMMY-nominated single “MEIN TEIL” and followed by fifth album ROSENROT in 2005. The MSG show sold out in less than 20 minutes and was followed by extensive North American Tours in 2011 and 2012, which would sell out venues including the Forum in Los Angeles, Chicago’s Allstate Arena, the Bell Centre in Montreal and more. RAMMSTEIN made its debut on U.S. network television during the 2011 tour, performing “DU HAST” and “FEUER FREI!” on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!

RAMMSTEIN broke into the U.S. Top 10 for the first time with the May 17, 2019 release of its untitled seventh album, which entered at #9 on the Billboard 200. Produced by Olsen Involtini with RAMMSTEIN, the untitled record is comprised of 11 new RAMMSTEIN tracks including singles “AUSLANDER,” “RADIO” and “DEUTSCHLAND,” which have amassed combined streams and views exceeding 200 million. 5 TOP DESIGNER JOB SKILLS YOU MUST HAVE

0

At growing Fields of 2020 Web design and Web development are playing major Roles. This is a Profession on which most of the organizations and companies are depending on these days in their online presence. People with this skill are very high demanding these days. This is not the kind of trend that ends

There is something you must know in order to succeed in the profession. Whether you are getting started as a web designer or web developer or you are just locating a good profession for your career. If you hope to be successful in this industry you will need these key skills.

Following are the Skills you will be needing for your repertoire

  1. HTML
  2. CSS
  3. JAVASCRIPT / AJAX
  4. PHP, ASP, JAVA, PERL OR C++
  5. SEO

HTML

Hypertext Markup Language is the basis of how a website is built. This is one of the most important things a web designer or web developer can learn, which is why you are one of the first things you will learn. Even if you plan to use WYSIWYG (which means what you see is what you get), or knowing CMS, HTML for most of your career will help you Understanding how those tools work and giving you so much control over yourself works. This knowledge will also ensure that if you need to work outside these editors, you have the ability to do so.

Today, the professional working on the web has a solid understanding of HTML. Even if they don’t use it in their usual tasks, they understand this basic markup language.

CSS

While HTML dictates the structure of sites, cascading style sheets handle their visual appearance. As such, CSS is another important tool that web designers, especially designers and front-end developers, must learn from Training Connection.

For many web professionals, CSS is learned along with HTML since both these languages are really a mix that forms the basis of the structure and style of any web page.

JavaScript and Ajax

JavaScript is one of the most important elements of a website, Developers should Expert JavaScript language before learning any other languages, especially how to create 3 layers of web design with HTML and CSS Talks

If you are a web designer and if you are not doing front-end development and more you don’t need to learn JavaScript, it is more than better to have a basic understanding of JavaScript. You should learn JavaScript because it plays a big role in many websites and web applications today.

PHP, ASP, JAVA, PERL OR C++

You need to learn at least one or two programming languages to learn program webpages. PHP is easily the leader on the web today, partly because it is an open-source language that a strong community accepts. If you select only one language to learn, it should be PHP. How many resources you will find online for PHP will be very helpful to you.

You don’t need to learn the programming language IF you are a web designer “other than HTML, which is a markup language, and not considered as a pure programming language”. Web developers should learn at least one and the more you know, the more job and flexible you will be.

Want to make yourself extremely valuable? Look for languages that are still in demand, but which many are not following today. If you qualify in those languages, you will know that many career opportunities will not be available for this skill, but it is very difficult to fulfill those that are available, meaning you will be a premium asset.

SEO

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is useful for anyone who creates a website. Many factors influence the site’s ranking in search engines, from the content of the site to its internal links, download speed and performance, and its mobile-friendliness. These are all factors that web designers should keep in mind and they know how to use a site to make it more attractive to engines and more accessible to users.

Both web designers and web developers will have to experiment again if they know the basics of SEO. Even if the strict application of this skill is left to marketing professionals, knowing the basics of SEO is a good feather in your hat.

After selling out their upcoming February 28 performance at NYC’s Madison Square Garden in short order, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Daryl Hall & John Oates have announced a 32-date North American summer tour with Squeeze and KT Tunstall. Produced by Live Nation, the latest tour by the best-selling duo of all-time will kick off this May at the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA and make stops in Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta and more before wrapping September 2 at Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in New Hampshire.

Daryl Hall & John Oates are legends who continue to inspire today’s musical trailblazers. Their influence on multiple generations of musicians and songwriters is perhaps best summarized by SPIN who claimed “Hall and Oates are the new Velvet Underground.” On-the-record fans include: Cameron Crowe, Mark Ronson, Questlove, Adam Sandler, John Mayer, Booker T. Jones, Rob Thomas, Brandon Flowers, Amos Lee, Ben Gibbard and Nick Lowe.

The international multi-platinum-selling group has sold more albums than any other duo in music history. 1973’s Atlantic debut Abandoned Luncheonette and 1974’s Todd Rundgren-produced War Babies kicked off a record-breaking career that yielded six consecutive multi-platinum albums: Bigger Than Both of Us (1976), Voices (1980), Private Eyes (1981), H2O (1982), the greatest hits collection Rock N Soul, Part 1 (1983) and Big Bam Boom (1984).

The duo’s collection of No. 1 singles include “Rich Girl” (Also No. 1 R&B charts), “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” (No. 1 R&B), “Maneater” and “Out of Touch.” Their Top 10 singles include “She’s Gone” (No. 1 R&B), “Sara Smile,” “One on One,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Say it Isn’t So,” “Everything Your Heart Desires,” “Family Man,” “Adult Education,” “Did It In A Minute” and “Method of Modern Love.” In 1987, the RIAA recognized Daryl Hall & John Oates as the number-one selling duo in music history, a record they hold to this day.

In 2003, the legendary duo was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2008, they were honored at BMI’s Pop Awards with the Icon Award, and in 2014, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2016, they together received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The duo has recently toured with Tears For Fears, Train, Allen Stone and more. Watch Daryl Hall’s and John Oates’ lively performance of “Maneater” from Daryl Hall And John Oates: Live in Dublin:

Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford have been compared to Lennon and McCartney since “Take Me I’m Yours,” their first release in 1978, blasted the band into the forefront of the UK music scene. The legendary duo have since written all of their hits as well as recorded 15 studio albums, 14 compilation albums, four live albums, one extended play and 48 singles. Following their hits including “Tempted,” “Black Coffee in Bed,” “Hourglass,” “Cool For Cats”, “Up The Junction” and “Pulling Mussels From The Shell,” they established themselves as two of the most prolific songwriters of their time with each amassing a wealth of melody-rich earworms over the past four decades as both Squeeze and solo artists. They have also received an Ivor Novello award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, the Nordoff-Robbins Icon Award and the Mojo Icon Award.

Singer-songwriter, KT Tunstall enchants and engages with every song, and that’s why she continues to resonate not only among fans, but throughout pop culture at large. Scotland born and now Los Angeles based, KT Tunstall emerged with her 2004 classic debut Eye To The Telescope spawning such international hits as “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See”, which won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song in 2006. That same year she won her first BRIT Award for Best British Female Artist, and earned Grammy and Mercury Prize nominations in 2007. KT has released six albums internationally, to date: Eye to the Telescope (2004), Drastic Fantastic (2007), Tiger Suit (2010), Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon (2013), KIN (2016) and WAX (2018), cementing her reputation as a major recording talent, as well as a mesmerizing live artist.
