Coldplay chooses Jordan to release their first album in four years “Everyday Life” on November 22, in Amman

0

International rock band Coldplay has announced they are launching their anticipated album “Everyday Life”, on Friday, November 22, 2019 with two performances in Amman, Jordan – livestreamed on YouTube.

According to the band, Coldplay chose Jordan for its natural beauty and historical and cultural significance, while also reflecting the middle eastern flavors and motifs that permeate the album’s music and artwork. The band added “We’re really excited to launch our new album in Jordan. It has always felt like the perfect place for these two special shows.”

“We are honored that Jordan, the land of hospitality, home of Petra and the legendary Wadi Rum was chosen by Coldplay to debut their latest album, “said, Majd Shweikeh, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities. “A hub for adventure, cultural, historical and faith-based tourism, Jordan is becoming the favorite location of international artists for music, film and festivals.”

Jordan Tourism Board is proud to be one of the entities supporting this international event that will take place in Amman. Known in the ancient world as Philadelphia, the city of Amman has been inhabited since the Bronze age, and has been a home to a diverse range of ancient civilizations.

The album is being pre-promoted on an international scale, teaser posters featuring the band members in black and white vintage-style photos surfaced mid-October in cities all over the globe, including AmmanBerlinHong KongMadrid, São Paulo and Sydney.

Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, said, “I am excited this launch will showcase Jordan to the world in the light that it deserves hand in hand with  international music icons who carry similar values and messages as the people of my country. Jordan has always been an exporter of peace, a beacon of hope and harmony in line with the cover of the album promoting peace and love. Having been picked by Coldplay to represent the spirituality and harmonious togetherness their music encompasses, wasn’t that farfetched, as Jordan is a true advocate of peace.”

“Everyday Life” is a double album, split into two halves, “Sunrise” and “Sunset” and will feature 16 songs, one of which is titled “Bani Adam” and is written in Arabic script. “Bani Adam,” literally translates to “Children of Adam”, The track is inspired by the 1258 AD poem of the same name by Iranian poet Saadi Shirazi who was recognized for his artistic work that revolves around social responsibility and morality.

Coldplay were formed in 1997 and are currently the biggest-selling British band of the 21st century. They have won seven Grammys and eight Brit Awards.

“I won the lottery with film scoring,” said Danny Elfman. “I taught myself what I needed to know and I struggled. Because of that, I know it’s important to get the training. To study. And, to develop all the tools necessary to succeed. I hope my MasterClass can be one of those tools and inspire the growing generation of film composers.”

The Sheepdogs Announce Movember Partnership

0

Canadian rockers The Sheepdogs are about to be a lot less shaggy.  In the past year and a half, the band has been personally affected by cancer, with the group’s drummer Sam Corbett being diagnosed with testicular cancer and the loss of Ryan Gullen’s dad to cancer.  With that on their mind, the band has chosen to partner with Movember to help raise money and raise awareness around early cancer detection and men’s health.  Sam will kick things off with an interview tonight on ET Canada, where he will speak about his own battle with cancer.  Meanwhile, Shamus Currie will be shaving down at Movember Canada’s official Toronto kick-off at stackt MARKET with several other high-profile participants.  Sam and Shamus will be raising funds to grow their moustaches for the month of November, and if the band is able to raise $10,000 bassist Ryan Gullen will shave his beard into a moustache. Gullen has not shaved his face since 2006.  Fans of the band can donate to the effort at http://bit.ly/SheepdogsMOVEMBER.

Of the importance of early detection, Sam says “I really like how Movember’s focus for testicular and prostate cancer is on early detection and prevention. I feel lucky to have caught my testicular cancer early, but if I had been doing regular checks, I probably would have got it even earlier, and maybe I could have caught it before it spread to my lymph nodes”

Gullen adds, “”In the past year, losing my dad to cancer and seeing my friend and bandmate successfully beat cancer really opened my eyes to how important it is for us to be conscious of our health and how important early detection is.  As much as we learn, there still is a stigma that is associated with checking yourself or going and seeing the doctor.  Because we were so closely impacted by that we really wanted to be part of such a great cause to do what we can with the band to help get the message out there and raise money for Movember”

Movember is the leading global men’s health charity working to change the face of men’s health. The charity raises funds to deliver innovative, breakthrough research and support programs that enable men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Committed to disrupting the status quo, millions have joined the movement, helping fund over 1,250 projects focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide prevention. In addition to tackling key health issues faced by men, Movember is working to encourage men to stay healthy in all areas of their life, with a focus on men staying socially connected and becoming more open to discussing their health and significant moments in their lives. The charity’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. To donate or learn more, please visit Movember.com.
