corook Is Being “realistic”

0

Self-described “singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and huge f*ckin dork” corook [pronounced ‘co-rook’] has shared her sardonic new single, “realistic.

i’ve never understood society’s view of love,” corook says. “movies and songs usually portray love as this exaggerated, self-sacrificing, desperate act that ultimately leaves me feeling underwhelmed and misrepresented. it’s unrealistic. meanwhile my generation was raised by boomers and half of them got divorced. this song is my protest of those expectations and the fears that come with that kind of honesty. it’s a commitment to finding true love in the truest way possible. maybe i’m a skeptic or maybe i’m realistic.

“realistic” follows corook’s acclaimed ode to realizing your self-worth, “smoothie,” available at all DSPs and streaming services HERE. The track was met by applause from Consequence, which wrote, “The idea of self-image has been discussed at length in music, particular in the last decade, but you’d be hard-pressed to find another song that uses the imagery of blended fruit as the vehicle of choice for the subject. Somehow, corook is the kind of voice that makes it all work – everything sung here feels believable, raw, and true.” “(‘smoothie’) is a deliciously fun pop-rock genre blend,” declared Billboard. “A verified banger.”

Recently named one of The Advocate’s “7 Queer Artists For Your Fall Playlist,” the genre-busting, Nashville-based musician tackles deeply personal themes in her music and visuals through a unique, quirky and humorous lens. This past spring, she blessed the world with her debut achoo! EP, which features surprising and insightful tracks including “idk god,” “degree,” “bad friend,” and “sims,” in addition to the fan favorite, “snakes”. Since release, corook has shared her viral adult lullaby, “it’s ok!,” the unrestrained single “BDSM,” super-hot “hell yeah” and most recently, the heartfelt “your mom.”

corook – who recently travelled to Mexico City for a performance at Mexico’s Festival Corona Capital – has spent much of this past year on the road, including a US tour alongside NYC-based piano pop/rock trio Jukebox the Ghost as well as her debut festival performance at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, featured in Rolling Stone’s Bonnaroo 2022 wrap-up. Earlier this year, she made her first-ever North American live run alongside K.Flay and opened for X Ambassadors at “A Night Benefitting Reproductive Rights” at The Troubadour. New dates will be announced soon. For updates, please visit www.corook.com.

CP Holiday Train To Begin 2022 Tour In Support Of Local Food Banks

0

The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train program begins this week, with the first of two brightly decorated trains departing the Montreal area for the opening shows of the tour on Wednesday in Maine. Over the next four weeks, the program will raise money, food and awareness for local food banks with 168 performances in two countries.

“The CP Holiday Train, now in its 24th year, celebrates family, community and service to one another,” said CP President and CEO Keith Creel. “We hope the train’s bright lights and music foster celebrations across Canada and the U.S., bringing with those celebrations a reminder of our duty to help those less fortunate this holiday season.”

After two years of virtual concerts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CP Holiday Train program returns with in-person concerts, including shows for the first time in Maine and the Eastern Townships of Quebec. In the coming weeks, the two trains will make stops in communities on CP’s rail network in eight U.S. states and six Canadian provinces. The CP Holiday Train will return to Kansas City’s Union Station for the first time since 2018 with a special show on Dec. 4. The final show of the 2022 tour will take place in Port Coquitlam, B.C., on Dec. 18.

Since its inception in 1999, the CP Holiday Train has raised more than $21 million and collected 5 million pounds of food for community food banks along CP’s network.

“I have always had this someday dream of riding a train and playing some music and I can’t believe that’s actually happening this Christmas. I’m so excited for the Holiday Train,” said Tenille Townes, one of eight headlining musicians touring with the train. “I can’t wait to see so much of Canada from the snowy window view and meet up with our friends coming to the shows we are playing all along the way. And it’s all in support of the food bank and making sure people are fed and taken care of this holiday season.”

A full schedule, map, live train tracker, photos and artist information are available at cpr.ca/holidaytrain. Follow the train through CP’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels @CanadianPacific.

SiriusXM Commissions Maxar to Build Two New Satellites, SXM-11 and SXM-12

0

Maxar Technologies and SiriusXM today announced a new agreement commissioning Maxar to build and deliver two new geostationary communications satellites for SiriusXM.

The SXM-11 and -12 satellite orders increase the total number of spacecraft in development for SiriusXM by Maxar to four, following the 2021 agreement for the construction of SXM-9 and -10.

“This investment reaffirms our commitment to satellite content delivery systems and cutting-edge technology,” said Bridget Neville, SiriusXM’s Senior Vice President of Satellite and Terrestrial Engineering and Operations. “SXM-11 and -12, along with SXM-9 and -10, will allow us to innovate and improve our service offerings for subscribers and will extend the continuous and reliable delivery of our audio entertainment content.”

“This agreement, in combination with SXM-9 and -10 ordered last year, shows one of Maxar’s greatest strengths—the advantage of performance at scale,” said Chris Johnson, Maxar’s Senior Vice President of Space. “These satellites will provide more capability to SiriusXM’s fleet, including an expanded service area and higher service quality. We continue to push for new ways to expand capability for commercial geostationary customers, keeping our leadership in this market secure and growing.”

There are more than 150 million SiriusXM-equipped vehicles on the road today that rely on SiriusXM’s proprietary satellite network, which is also a key delivery mechanism for the company’s 360L platform. SiriusXM with 360L combines satellite and streaming to ensure the best possible coverage across the US and Canada and the best customer experience. SiriusXM also offers a suite of satellite-delivered Marine and Aviation services that provide pilots and boaters important weather data and information directly to their cockpits.

SXM-11 and -12 will be twin high-powered digital audio radio satellites, built on Maxar’s proven 1300-class platform at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Palo Alto and San Jose, California. Maxar has been building satellites for SiriusXM for more than two decades, including the first-generation Sirius satellites launched in 2000, the second-generation Sirius satellites launched in 2009 and 2013, and the company’s current third-generation satellites, the first one of which started service in 2021. The delivery of SXM-11 and -12 will bring the number of Maxar-built spacecraft for SiriusXM to 13.

Metallica Release New Single “Lux Æterna” From New Album ’72 Seasons’ Out April 14

0

Metallica has confirmed the title and release date of its forthcoming 12th studio album: 72 Seasons will be available April 14, 2023 via the band’s own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield & Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track 72 Seasons is Metallica’s first full length collection of new material since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.

72 Seasons is heralded by first single “Lux Æterna,” a short, sharp blast that distills 40 years of Metallica into three and a half minutes. “Lux Æterna” is available now to stream and download, and as an instant grat track with all pre-orders of 72 Seasons.

Speaking on the concept of the album title, James Hetfield said: “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”

The complete track listing for 72 Seasons is:
72 Seasons
Shadows Follow
Screaming Suicide
Sleepwalk My Life Away
You Must Burn!
Lux Æterna
Crown of Barbed Wire
Chasing Light
If Darkness Had a Son
Too Far Gone?
Room of Mirrors
Inamorata

Today also marks the announcement of every Metallica show booked through 2023 and 2024: Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica’s M72 world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Two-day tickets will be on sale Friday, December 2nd at ticketmaster.com and will include the option of pre-ordering 72 Seasons vinyl and/or CD. Single day tickets will be available beginning January 20th. For further information including fan club presales, enhanced experiences and more, go to metallica.com/m72-info.

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band’s Al Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH’s efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have suported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the U, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.
