Martin Guitar To Introduce All-New Modern Deluxe Series At 2019 Winter NAMM

C. F. Martin & Co. (Martin Guitar) will introduce their brand-new Modern Deluxe Series at Winter NAMM in Anaheim, California, January 24-27, 2019. The new series combines sophistication and performance to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Modern Deluxe Series is offered in four styles: D-18, D-28, 000-28, and OM-28. Each model is packed with custom features and modern technology that you have to see, feel, and hear for yourself.

The vintage appointments offered in the Modern Deluxe Series include a Sitka spruce Vintage Tone System (VTS) top, VTS Adirondack spruce braces, a dovetail neck joint, and natural protein glue construction. All of these features together produce the rich, fully aged Martin tone that has inspired generations.

The sound isn’t the only thing that will turn heads with the Modern Deluxe in your hands. The 28-style guitars feature East Indian rosewood back and sides with a contrasting flamed maple binding, while the 18-style features genuine mahogany back and sides with contrasting East Indian rosewood binding. All four models feature stylish gold frets, gold open-gear tuners, and a gorgeous, pearl inlaid, 1930s style script logo on the headstock.

One of the ultra-modern features that is new to this series is a two-way titanium truss rod, which makes the neck super easy to adjust, and it is 64% lighter than a traditional truss rod. The models also feature Liquidmetal red dot bridge pins and a composite carbon fiber bridge plate that increase the volume without adding weight.

One of the most exciting features is a brand-new neck shape that was designed just for the Modern Deluxe Series. The shape has an ultra-low profile, and it is slightly asymmetrical for maximum hand comfort up and down the fretboard.

Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World Announce 2019 ‘Summer Gods Tour’ with Ra Ra Riot

“The most scintillating, inspiring collective moments of my life have been outdoors in the summer exploding with music,” says Third Eye Blind frontman, Stephan Jenkins. “Those sensations travel from when I was a little kid and rock music was brand new to our last Summer Gods tour, when everything is magically new again. I seek to create that exact blissed-out state of aliveness on tour this summer.”

Third Eye Blind has announced the 35-city Summer Gods Tour, together with Jimmy Eat World. Ra Ra Riot will join on all shows as tour opener. Produced by Live Nation, the North American amphitheater tour will kick off June 14 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, with dates in Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and more, before wrapping August 3 in Irvine, CA at FivePoint Amphitheatre. Touring in the summer “feels like more of a festival thing, because Third Eye Blind takes a lot of time in picking out the bands to play with us,” Jenkins tells iHeartRadio’s on-air personality, Andrew Harms, in an exclusive interview that ran earlier this morning across iHeartMedia’s network of Alternative stations.

Following rare club dates in LA and NYC to try out new music, Third Eye Blind is now back in studio working on the follow up to Dopamine (2015) and 2018’s, Thanks for Everything, an EP of songs they love, with proceeds benefiting the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.

Third Eye Blind has been touring greener every year. Because the oceans need our help, the band and crew have been free of water bottles since 2017. This year, to offset the tour’s carbon footprint, Third Eye Blind will be voluntarily investing in a carbon offset project in Alaska managed by ClimeCo, The American Land Conservancy, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Additionally, to offset audience travel – the biggest source of carbon emissions from the tour – a portion of each ticket sold will support a US-based ClimeCo carbon offset project. “Music and surfing are all foundational in my life and the longer I go, the more so it is not a big step to seek to make our tours ocean friendly,” adds Jenkins. “Simple – skip single use plastic, carbon offsets and encourage other along the way.”

This Alaska-based offset project is the first of its kind in the region. It supports conservation work on Afognak Island which is home to a coastal temperate rainforest with old-growth trees that are between 180 and 250 years old, plus a regrowth of new trees from the past 30 years. Together, these new and old forests create the potential for absorbing millions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Ltd. Announce New Beatles Film

Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Ltd. are proud to announce an exciting new collaboration between The Beatles and the acclaimed Academy Award winning director Sir Peter Jackson. The new film will be based around 55 hours of never-released footage of The Beatles in the studio, shot between January 2nd and January 31st, 1969. These studio sessions produced The Beatles’ Grammy Award winning album Let It Be, with its Academy Award winning title song. The album was eventually released 18 months later in May 1970, several months after the band had broken up.

The filming was originally intended for a planned TV special, but organically turned into something completely different, climaxing with The Beatles’ legendary performance on the roof of Apple’s Savile Row London office — which took place exactly 50 years ago today.

Peter Jackson said, “The 55 hours of never-before-seen footage and 140 hours of audio made available to us, ensures this movie will be the ultimate ‘fly on the wall’ experience that Beatles fans have long dreamt about – it’s like a time machine transports us back to 1969, and we get to sit in the studio watching these four friends make great music together.”

Although The Beatles were filmed extensively during the 1960s – in concerts, interviews and movies – this is the only footage of any note that documents them at work in the studio.

The Let It Be album and movie, having been released in the months following The Beatles’ breakup, have often been viewed in the context of the struggle the band was going through at that time.

“I was relieved to discover the reality is very different to the myth,” continues Jackson, “After reviewing all the footage and audio that Michael Lindsay-Hogg shot 18 months before they broke up, it’s simply an amazing historical treasure-trove. Sure, there’s moments of drama – but none of the discord this project has long been associated with. Watching John, Paul, George, and Ringo work together, creating now-classic songs from scratch, is not only fascinating – it’s funny, uplifting and surprisingly intimate.”

“I’m thrilled and honoured to have been entrusted with this remarkable footage – making the movie will be a sheer joy.”

Jackson will be working with his They Shall Not Grow Old partners, Producer Clare Olssen and Editor Jabez Olssen. The footage will be restored by Park Road Post of Wellington, New Zealand, to a pristine standard, using techniques developed for the WW1 documentary film which has been nominated for a BAFTA for best documentary.

The untitled film is currently in production and the release date will be announced in due course. This film is being made with the full co-operation of Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon, and Olivia Harrison.

Following the release of this new film, a restored version of the original Let It Be movie directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg will also be made available.

Universally hailed as the Queen of Soul, the late Aretha Franklin is one of music’s most beloved icons. In celebration of Franklin’s timeless, brilliant legacy, Geffen/UMe has restored her earliest recordings, collectively known as the album Songs Of Faith: Aretha Gospel, for worldwide black vinyl LP, limited edition white vinyl LP, and digital reissue on March 22, just ahead of her 77th birthday on March 25. Recorded live in 1956 at Detroit’s New Bethel Baptist Church when Franklin was just 14 years old, the album showcases her prodigiously powerful, other-worldly renditions of gospel standards.

This newly restored and remastered edition of Songs Of Faith: Aretha Gospel returns the album to vinyl for the first time in decades, with striking new cover art, a new essay by Aretha Franklin biographer David Ritz, and a detailed history of the tracks’ various releases.

In 1956, when the album’s tracks were recorded at New Bethel Baptist Church, Aretha Franklin was a 14-year-old gospel singing sensation. She performed, accompanying herself on piano, as the opening act for her celebrated father, Rev. C. L. Franklin, whose recorded sermons were million-sellers. Aretha’s performances were first issued as singles in the 1950s, followed by LP releases by Chess/Checker.

Rolling Stone writer Mikal Gilmore revisited the legend’s star-making performances at New Bethel Baptist Church in his Aretha Franklin cover feature for the magazine’s October 2018 issue, writing, “…before an open microphone, her vocals took on an incorporeal quality — world-weary and mystical at the same time. As Aretha wailed ‘Precious Lord,’ a listener in the audience called out, ‘Listen at her!’ A great career in the gospel world was there for the wonder child’s taking.”

The exclusive theatrical release will feature a remastered version of Ross’ iconic Central Park concert, documented in July 1983 and considered one of the most important landmark events in music and entertainment history. A rousing document of the legendary rock n’ roller’s first world tour in nearly two decades, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul have released two new exciting collections today, allowing fans to relive the band’s sensational live shows or to experience them for the first time. Titled SOULFIRE LIVE! after the vaunted 2017 tour of the same name, the live album is available as both a 7LP vinyl box set and as a two-disc Blu-ray video via Wicked Cool Records/UMe.

Comprised of the best performances from the North American and European concerts, the collections feature Little Steven aka Steven Van Zandt and his 15-strong band taking listeners through a musical history lesson as they blast through an arsenal of songs spanning rock, pop, soul, blues, funk, doo-wop, reggae and everything in between. Nearly every song from his 2016 album SOULFIRE is represented along with inspired covers and classic tracks from his early catalog. The sets each culminate with “Macca To Mecca!,” a 12-song tribute to The Beatles that kicks off with a riveting performance of “I Saw Her Standing There” recorded at The Roundhouse in London with a special appearance by Paul McCartney. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Unreleased Song “For Real” Will Make You Remember Why He’s So Authentic

“For Real,” another previously unreleased song from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, is debuting today. Throughout his storied career, Petty did everything with authenticity—putting the music and his fans first. It is this sentiment that Petty sings about in the poignant and autobiographical song “For Real.”

“For Real” is featured on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: The Best Of Everything, due March 1 via Geffen Records/UMe as a supplement to last year’s critically lauded, career-spanning box set An American Treasure. The Best Of Everything was born from Petty’s long-term desire to release what he believed to be his greatest hits and strongest material across his four decades of songwriting.

Petty’s family and band-mates rallied together once again to fulfill his dream. Rather than chronological order, the special cross-label collection was sequenced as a hard-hitting playlist giving the entire catalog equal prominence, including songs from his solo projects, songs with world-class musicians The Heartbreakers, as well as essentials from the reformed Mudcrutch. The Best Of Everything will be released simultaneously as a 2-disc CD featuring deluxe packaging, LP editions in both black and clear vinyl, and in all digital formats. The 38-track set also includes an additional previously unreleased song: an alternate version of the title track, which restores a never-before heard second verse to the song that was originally recorded for the Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ 1985 album, Southern Accents. The set also features an essay on Petty written especially for this collection by his close friend, Academy Award-winning screenwriter, director, author and journalist Cameron Crowe.

All recordings on The Best Of Everything are newly mastered from the original stereo master tapes and digital files by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, with supervision by Ryan Ulyate.

Moreover, Petty’s solo album Full Moon Fever has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The album is 5x platinum in the U.S., 6x platinum in Canada and celebrates its 30th anniversary this April. Full Moon Fever features “Free Fallin’,” “I Won’t Back Down” and “Runnin’ Down A Dream,” all of which are on The Best Of Everything.

Jennifer Lopez Announces North American “It’s My Party: The Live Celebration” Tour

Today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show international icon Jennifer Lopez revealed her highly anticipated return to the road with the “It’s My Party: The Live Celebration” Tour, her first in over six years. To celebrate her birthday, the multi-hyphenate entertainer will bring an all new show to fans in 24 cities across North America this summer. Produced by Live Nation, “It’s My Party: The Live Celebration” Tour will kick off June 7th in Phoenix, AZ and make stops in Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, New York and more, before wrapping July 26th in Miami, FL. Fans can anticipate a signature Jennifer Lopez show each night featuring her distinctive choreography and dancers, incredible production and set design, dazzling wardrobe, and a non-stop party mix of new and classic J.Lo anthems.

The tour will also feature the “World of Dance Experience,” in which audiences will be treated to surprise dance guest performances by stars from Jennifer’s hit NBC dance show “World of Dance.”

Lopez has unmatched global appeal with a remarkable longstanding career spanning across music, film, television, fashion and more. Her previous Dance Again World Tour sold over 1 million tickets, her films have brought in over $1.4 billion in worldwide box office receipts and last year she concluded her highly successful All I Have Las Vegas residency with gross ticket sales topping more than $100 million during the three year run. Lopez can currently be seen starring in and producing STX’s feature film, Second Act, alongside Leah Remini, Milo Ventimiglia, and Vanessa Hudgens. She is also returning as a judge for the third season of NBC’s World of Dance, premiering Feb. 26.
