Announcing Carl Palmer’s Prog-Rock Camp Featuring Master Classes, Workshops, And Performances

World famous drummer/musician Carl Palmer will be hosting a musical learning experience for drummers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists and vocalists called Carl Palmer’s Prog-Rock Camp. Featuring Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy and very special guests guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N Roses; Sons Of Apollo) and Derek Sherinian (ex-Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Sons Of Apollo), the camp will run for 3 days in Philadelphia and allow the attendees to learn first hand from some of rock’s greatest musical icons.

“This camp will be a special dream come true for me,” says Carl Palmer, who has spent many years as an educator and demonstrator of advanced percussion. “It is not designed to be a ‘fantasy’ event, but rather, a complete three day educational adventure for those who really want to improve and advance their musical craft. Of course, fans who want to take in the experience, are welcomed, as well. This is a chance to sit one on one with some of the contemporary musical greats and learn.”

The Camp will begin on Friday, November 8th and will include three days of events, and the cost is $1,399 and includes all events, classes, concert, meals, parking, and hotel lodging. A deposit is required at registration, which will cap at 100 campers. You can go here to register.

Music icons Nelly, TLC, and Flo Rida have announced they will be hitting the road together for an epic tour across North America. The Billboard chart-topping hitmakers will join forces to bring a show like no other to outdoor amphitheater stages all summer long. Fans can expect an incredible, non-stop party with each artist delivering hit after hit all night long.

Produced by Live Nation, the 21-city outing will kick off July 23 in Tuscaloosa, AL at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and make stops in Atlanta, Toronto, Detroit, Austin and more before wrapping August 31 in Irvine, CA at FivePoint Amphitheatre.

Luis Miguel Announces 2019 North American Tour

Luis Miguel has always established records without precedents, not only because of his extraordinary voice, his versatility which lands him in different genres such as pop, bolero, mariachi, big band and romantic ballads, but also because of the preparation, elegance and his true artistry, all of which has made him one of the great icons in music and a major Latin artist around the world.

Throughout his exceptional 37-year career, Luis Miguel has released 33 albums, many of which have reached gold, platinum and diamond status. He has sold over 100 million albums all over the world, has a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, and is a 6-time Grammy winner and 6-time Latin Grammy winner. The International Press Association in Las Vegas has honored him with their most prestigious award—The Galardón Diamante. After completing an extensive three and a half year-long tour, he holds the record of highest tour revenue in the history of any Latin artist. During the prestigious Viña del Mar Festival, he received the Gaviota in silver, gold and platinum, which has never been granted to any other artist. In the National Auditorium, the most important forum in Mexico, Luis Miguel shattered attendance records with 258 shows at this venue, which has yet to be surpassed to this date. Clip on tuners for your guitar, bass, or ukulele are a great alternative to the traditional tuner for a number of reasons. They are convenient, they can be used quickly at any time, you can leave them on your instrument at all times if you wish so you aren’t without, and they tend to be relatively inexpensive when compared to other options.

Some instruments end up falling out of tine more often than others – a good clip-on tuner can help make sure you are in tune at all times. They work by detecting vibrations from the headstock of your instrument and then indicating how close to the note that you are trying to tune to the string is, i.e. whether it needs to be tightened or loosened. The Snark SN-8 Super Tight all instrument tuner is a new release and offers extremely  accurate tuning. At less than $20, this is a fantastic clip on tuner for your guitar, ukulele or bass.

Korg PC1 Pitchclip Chromatic Tuner: This tuner from Korg has a number of great features considering its small size. It offers an LED display and positions close to your instrument whilst still being readable. The tuner can be positioned at an angle, or can be based flat against your instrument when clipped on. The tuner can be positioned anywhere between 0 and 180 degrees. You can also clip the tuner to either the front or back of your guitar, since the display will adjust in accordance with the orientation.

Boss TU-10 Chromatic Tuner: This tuner from Boss is another fantastic package at an affordable price. It is easy to use, and even has a true colour LED screen fitted, which provides coloured feedback on the note that you are trying to tune to, and can be used quickly and easily at any time. The Boss tuner does unfortunately not have full rotational capabilities, but is still an excellent tuner for the price.

Peterson StroboClip: Peterson are well known for their highly accurate tuners, and the StroboClip Sc-1 is no exception to this rule . It is slightly more expensive than some of its rivals, but is extremely well made and has some exclusive features on offer. This tuner is a fantastic choice for the concert/event-playing guitarist with its real time display and 1/10 cent precision. It offers tuning not only for guitar, bass, and ukulele, with options for a number of other string and wind instruments. The display is amazing and is easily readable in bright and dark conditions.

When selecting the best clip on tuner for your instrument, you should take into consideration  the conditions in which you will be tuning your instrument the majority of the time, and choose from the best in the market!

The National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress Adds Jay-Z’s ‘The Blueprint’, Cyndi Lauper’s ‘She’s So Unusual’ And More

This morning, the Library of Congress announced the newest 25 additions to its National Recorded Sound Registry. Marking its 17th year this year, the National Recording Registry which honors all types of recorded sound–from music to spoken word to radio broadcasts—as long as the recordings have been historically, culturally or aesthetically significant. The latest 25 takes the total number of recordings on the Registry to 525.

Selections are made by the Librarian of Congress with input from the Library’s National Recorded Sound Preservation Board and after reviewing nominations from the public.

This year’s selections include works by Jay-Z, Cyndi Lauper, Lefty Frizzell, Nina Simone, Neil Diamond, Stan Freberg, Cab Calloway and others and range in dates from 1901 to 2001.

Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint” will be preserved for future generations, as well asthe original 1968 musical “Hair,” Neil Diamond’s 1969 single “Sweet Caroline;” Ritchie Valens’ 1958 hit, “La Bamba;” disco singer Sylvester’s 1978 single, “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real);” Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September;” Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 debut solo album,“She’s So Unusual;” Curtis Mayfield’s 1972 “Super Fly” soundtrack;” and educational children’s program “Schoolhouse Rock!”

The Strokes Kick Off Opening Night At Toronto’s Budweiser Stage With First Canadian Show In Over A Decade

On May 20th Budweiser Stage will kick off another groundbreaking summer of music and events. Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the Budweiser Stage’s annual “Opening Night” will feature the only Canadian performance by one of music’s most critically acclaimed and important rock bands, The Strokes. This highly anticipated return of The Strokes will mark their first Toronto performance in over a decade.

The Strokes are a multi-platinum American rock band formed in New York City in 1998, consisting of Julian Casablancas (vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar), Albert Hammond Jr. (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums).

In 2001, the band released their debut album, titled ‘Is This It’. It was certified platinum in the U.S. & UK and received gold certification in a myriad of other countries around the world. Their sophomore effort, ‘Room On Fire’ was released in 2003, and reached gold status in the U.S. and platinum once again in the UK.

Subsequent full-length releases came with ‘First Impressions Of Earth’, (2006), ‘Angles’ (2011), and ‘Comedown Machine’ (2013). Their most recent studio recording was an EP released in the summer of 2016, entitled ‘Future Present Past’ via Julian Casablancas’ own Cult Records label. The band is presently an RCA recording artist via a venture with Cult Records.

Tickets go-on-sale to the general public on Friday, March 29 at 10am via www.livenation.com.
