THE GUESS WHO Are Back With Brand New Album, The Future Is What It Used To Be

The Guess Who is responsible for countless rock classics, which still retain a major presence on rock radio – “American Woman,” “No Time,” “These Eyes,” etc. The band is set to return on September 14th with their latest album, ‘The Future IS What It Used To Be’, released via Cleopatra Records (available in CD, Vinyl, and Digital formats).

The band is Garry Peterson (Drums, Vocals), D# (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Piano), Will E. (Guitar, Harp, Vocals), Leonard Shaw (Keyboards, Flute, Sax, Vocals), and Rudy Sarzo (Bass, Vocals). The album’s first single, ‘Playin’ on the Radio’, will be released on July 17th. It can be heard on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services. Also featured on the album are several special guests including, Tommy Shaw (Styx) on vocals, Brent Fitz (Slash, Gene Simmons) percussion, Jim Kale (Guess Who founding member) and Michael Devin (Whitesnake) on bass guitar.

“The song is a celebration of the radio and what it meant to us all.”, explains D#. “Whenever a new great song hit the airwaves, the DJ would say a few words then off to the races! You’d tune in just to hear it over and over again. The character in the song could be any one of us as we move ahead in life. Great music has the innate power to transport you back to so many great memories in an instant. Music is healing. I see it AND feel it every single night in our audience.”

A music video for the track has been filmed (directed by Nigel Dick and shot in Las Vegas), and the song can be pre-ordered on iTunes. The video can be viewed here:

“I love what I do, and I love trains and I love rock n’ roll,” explains Nigel about the video. “So, I was honored to be asked to shoot The Guess Who. And when they told me they were available for a day in Vegas and by chance I stumbled on this wonderful rail-yard full of old engines just up the road from the strip – I was in heaven – and up to my axles in dust! It was a perfect day.”

And the band is pleased with the results. “My very first music video…who knew?!” says Garry. “Having the privilege of working with the legendary Nigel Dick, took me back to growing up in an era where music videos told a creative visual story that I always looked forward to seeing by my favorite artists,” adds Will. “This track was no exception, adding a colorful, action packed sequence to a great story.”

Garry Peterson: “I never dreamed that I would get a chance to record an album, after 40 years, in the same way, and with the same recording gear that we used in the 60s and 70s. This was truly a blessing for me and a humbling, cathartic experience for my musical soul. Thank you to all my bandmates, and everyone who helped make it a reality. I hope our fans enjoy it as much as I do.”

D#: “This all started when I wrote ‘Playing on the Radio’. Lyrically and musically, these songs are the soundtrack to my journey with The Guess Who over the last 10 years. This record was a joy and an honor to create. As version 3.0 of this iconic band, we had our work cut out for us. The challenge in this type of situation is always to be true to the heartroots of the original blueprint, as well as being able to journey onwards into an inspired future, incorporating the new energies that we bring to the experience, as you do in any family, generation after generation. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as we did.”

Will E: “I am honored to be a part of this chapter of The Guess Who. We specifically wrote and arranged the music to reflect what people have always loved about the band; great songs with big vocal driven choruses. We accomplished our own sound while maintaining the classic nature that makes The Guess Who an iconic band.”

Rudy Sarzo: “The Guess Who is part of the soundtrack of my life. It’s truly an honor to have performed on the new record. And I’m already looking forward to the next one.”

Leonard Shaw: “It has been quite the trip since I joined the Guess Who 25 years ago, but I am stoked about our new recording of original songs! These songs are fun to play live, and people are digging them!”

Multi-Platinum Country Star Tim Hicks Is Set To Turn Up The Volume On The 2018 “Get Loud Tour”

2018 Apple Music Fans’ Choice Award nominee and multi-platinum, award winning entertainer Tim Hicks announced today that he will turn up the heat this winter on his national headlining “Get Loud Tour” kicking off in Toronto, Ontario, on November 1st. Hicks along with special guests Tebey, Madeline Merlo (in the East), Andrew Hyatt (in the West), and Washboard Union (Toronto only), will take the energy-charged tour to 16+ cities across the country with additional dates in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to be announced soon.

Tim Hicks Fan Club pre-sale begins Tuesday, July 17th at 10:00 AM local time in all cities, followed by a general pre-sale on Wednesday, July 18th at 10:00 AM local time and public on sale Thursday, July 19th at 10:00 AM local time. For the “Get Loud Tour” Hicks has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket will go to Unison Fund and their work providing counseling and emergency relief services to the Canadian music community.

Three Days Grace Announce “The Outsider Tour” Across Canada

This morning, Three Days Grace, the internationally acclaimed and multi-platinum certified Canadian band, confirms the 16-date “The Outsider Tour” of their native Canada in support of their sixth full-length album, Outsider. Said drummer Neil Sanderson about the forthcoming tour: “as cool as it is to tour and experience the world, there’s nothing better than going coast-to-coast for all our fans here at home. Can’t wait!” The group will perform in cities including Halifax, Quebec City, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton (full dates below) and tickets for these dates will be available on Friday, July 20 at 10am Local Time (with the exception of the November 29 Windsor show, which will go on sale Saturday, July 21 at 10am Local Time). “Infra-red” is the new single from Three Days Grace’s sixth studio album Outsider. The song is the follow up to their 14th #1 chart topping single “The Mountain,” also featured on Outsider. Three Days Grace continues to hold the all-time record for most #1 singles at the Active Rock radio format. The music video for first single “The Mountain” which Alt Press called a “…seismic new single” has been streamed over 14M times on YouTube alone. Taped at a UFC octagon, the music video for Outsider’s first single was directed by Sean Cartwright and features a cameo by UFC fighter Misha Cirkunov.

Three Days Grace also debuted “I Am An Outsider,” the second track from their forthcoming album, along with the album’s tracklisting via Billboard, who say “I Am The Outsider” “…defines both the theme of Three Days Grace’s upcoming album Outsider and the Canadian band’s lyrical outlook in general.” The band also debuted their lyric video for “Right Left Wrong,” the third track revealed from their forthcoming album via Revolver who call it a “propulsive new song.”

New Morning Co-Host Jamar McNeil Joins Roger and Marilyn Today on CHUM 104.5

The popification of Toronto is now in full swing as CHUM 104.5 welcomes new co-host Jamar McNeil to the Roger and Marilyn morning team, following a successful 10-year run with Chicago’s B96 FM. Additionally, the station rolls out its multi-faceted “Make Toronto Pop”campaign across the GTA today, following last month’s live on-air station transformation from 104.5 CHUM FM to CHUM 104.5. The station’s new morning show trio and bold visual identity will take over Toronto block-by-block, energizing listeners through the broadcast, digital, and out-of-home campaign.

“Toronto is both a hotbed for music and one of my favourite cities in the world, so I’m thrilled to head north of the border to join the great team at CHUM 104.5,” said McNeil. “I’m particularly excited to spend each morning alongside two radio legends, Roger and Marilyn. Together we’ll wake up the 6ix with the summer’s hottest hits every day.”

Born in New York, McNeil most recently spent 10 years as host of The J Show on Chicago’s B96 FM. Previously, he hosted daily shows on several of America’s biggest Top 40 radio stations, including Hot995 DC, 965 Kiss Cleveland, Y100 Miami, where he established deep connections with each local community.

As a board member for Chicago’s Respiratory Health Association, McNeil has participated in fundraising events for young people affected by asthma and has advocated for clean air initiatives. McNeil is also a founding member and secretary for Midwest Jamaica Corp (MIJAC), a group serving as a resource for Jamaicans in both Chicago and Jamaica.

In conjunction with the addition of Jamar McNeil to the station’s morning show, CHUM 104.5 also unveiled its new multi-platform “Make Toronto Pop”advertising campaign across the GTA today. Created by Leo Burnett in partnership with the Bell Media Agency, the campaign offers listeners and viewers a burst of excitement through extensive television, radio, digital, and out-of-home activations.
