Breakfast Anytime, Any Tims! Tim Hortons Canada makes breakfast items available for guests any time

0

On July 25, Tim Hortons will launch Breakfast Anytime, Any Tims: offering breakfast menu items any time at participating Tim Hortons restaurants nationwide. This expanded menu offering showcases Tim Hortons dedication to continually improve the guest experience.

Tim Hortons first piloted Breakfast Anytime in several Ontario locations earlier this year – a decision motivated by increased guest demand for the all-day menu offering. Following positive feedback from restaurant owners and guests, Tim Hortons is offering Breakfast Anytime beginning this week. The menu will feature guest’s favourite breakfast items formerly only available until Noon, including the Classic Hot Breakfast Sandwich on a Biscuit or English Muffin, Golden Hash Browns and more.

“We know how busy our guests are and we are dedicated to always offering them convenience and quality whether it’s 6am or 6pm,” says Ricardo Azevedo, Chief Sales Officer, Tim Hortons. “Breakfast Anytime is all about delivering our guests their favourite breakfast items at any time in communities across Canada.”

The new offering complements Tim Hortons Winning Together strategy, which is focused on three key areas – restaurant experience, product excellence and brand communications. Tim Hortons is committed to delivering the best guest experience and offering Canadians top quality products whenever they want throughout the day.

Sir Elton John and Prince Harry Launch Global Coalition to Fight HIV and AIDS

0

bioLytical Laboratories, a world leader in rapid infectious disease tests and developer of the 1 minute INSTI HIV Self Test, commends Sir Elton John and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex for the launch of the MenStar Coalition to engage men in new and innovative ways to break the cycle of HIV transmission.

“New, energetic and innovative solutions are needed more than ever before – and that is exactly what you are about to see from Sir Elton John and the MenStar Coalition partners,” said the Duke of Sussex.

“Young people are the only age group where HIV infections are rising, not falling,” warned rock star and veteran AIDS campaigner Sir Elton John as he announced the launch of the MenStar Coalition focused on testing and treating HIV infections in men at the 2018 International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam today. “We have to do much, much more to bring men, especially younger men more fully into the fold,” he insisted.

Much work has been done to protect women and girls but “we can’t solve the whole problem if we are only addressing half the situation,” he said. “If we want to win this fight, if we want to end AIDS once and for all, we must make men part of the solution” and teach them to protect themselves, “not only their wives and girlfriends, their sisters, and daughters, but also critically their brothers and their sons.”

The MenStar Coalition brings together seven founding partners to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 including PEPFAR, UNITAID, The Global Fund, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, Johnson & Johnson and Gilead.

The MenStar Coalition will invest $1.2 billion in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the group’s first project is to launch a new HIV self-testing campaign aimed at young men in Kenya. “It makes sense to start the HIV self-testing campaign in Kenya as the INSTI HIV Self Test is already widely available and is the only test to hold all local regulatory approvals due to its superior performance and 1 minute time to result,” said Ryan Bennett, Senior Director of International Sales. “The test is on the ground, pharmacies are stocked but demand generation has been lacking in the drive to reach young men to get tested. That’s the single greatest reason why this initiative is so important – to drive awareness and eventually testing.”

According to an UNAIDS report, in sub-Saharan Africa, men and boys living with HIV are 20% less likely than women and girls living with HIV to know their HIV status, and 27% less likely to be accessing treatment. Despite their many social and economic advantages, men are less likely than women to seek out health care, to take an HIV test, or to initiate and adhere to HIV treatment.

Prince Harry has long campaigned for HIV awareness and is no stranger to INSTI. In 2016, the Prince made headlines by taking an INSTI HIV test in a Facebook Live video, in an appeal for more people to get tested. “It’s amazing how quick it is,” said Harry about the test; his results were negative. And then in 2017, Terrence Higgins Trust welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Nottingham Contemporary, on World AIDS Day to remember the lives lost to HIV and mark the incredible medical progress made in the fight against the virus.

The Duke of Sussex was at the Amsterdam conference as the Patron of Sentebale, a charity he founded in 2006 to assist vulnerable children in Lesotho and Botswana affected by extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS. His Royal Highness and the #LetYouthLead advocates discussed challenges and experiences for young people living with HIV/AIDS.

Avery Products Canada is excited to be partnering with the Pinball Clemons Foundation (PCF) and multiple school board associations across Canada on their third annual #AveryGivesBack campaign. This year Avery will be looking to donate up to 50,000 binders to under-resourced students so that they have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. With the help of the PCF, Canadian school boards and young changemaker Hannah Alper, Avery’s aim is to unlock student enterprise and inspire youth to reach their full potential.

“Avery Products Canada is delighted to work with the PCF and various school boards and student organizations on this excellent program to give back to young Canadian Students. We believe in supporting others and extending a helping hand where possible,” says Lynn Livesey, General Manager of Avery Canada.

For every binder purchased, Avery will be donating one to a student in need. To incentivize audience participation in this movement, Avery has set a “Give Back”-inspired dance challenge, which can be passed on and shared with friends and family. The music track is from up-and-coming superstar, Christian Lalama’s debut album, and will be performed by one of musical.ly’s most popular celebrities, the Caleon Twins. We will be working with a number of other Canadian social influencers across multiple demographics to help amplify our feel-good message. This year we want the country to ‘Share the Love’, feel ‘Super Generous’ and make them say ‘Oh La La’. There’s a binder for everyone!

Join the give back movement with Avery Products Canada at #AveryGivesBack. Find out more about the hero team, the dance challenge, and where to buy one of these binders from a Staples store near you (or buy online) through the Avery Products Canada’s website at www.avery.ca/averygivesback.

Watch The Doors’ Ray Manzarek On The Creation Of The Doors’ “Riders On The Storm”

0

Riders on the Storm by the Doors was released as the second single from their sixth studio album, L.A. Woman, in June 1971. It reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S., number 22 on the UK Singles Chart, and number 7 in the Netherlands.According to Robby Krieger, it was inspired by “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend”. Also, Jim Morrison mentions spree killer Billy Cook, in passing, during at least one interview. Cook killed six people, including a young family, while hitchhiking to California. In all likelihood, the Cook murders were inspiration for the song’s lyric, “There’s a killer on the road / His brain is squirming like a toad…if you give this man a ride/sweet family will die …”

Let’s get keyboardist Ray Manzarek’s view on the creation of the still-trippy song.

Kids React To Swans. The Punk Band, Not Actual Animal Swans

0

Swans are an American experimental rock band formed in 1982 by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michael Gira. One of few acts to emerge from the New York City-based no wave scene and stay intact into the next decade, Swans have become recognized for a unique, ever-changing sound which has contributed to the development of genres such as noise rock, post-punk, industrial and post-rock. But none of that matters to the kids today.
