Arcade Fire Presents “Money + Love” Film Directed By David Wilson Starring Toni Collette

0

Everything Now is proud to present a more in depth advance look at “Money + Love,” a double video directed by David Wilson, written by David Wilson and Arcade Fire, and starring Arcade Fire and Toni Collette.

“Money + Love” will be released March 15. The new teaser can be seen below:

“Money + Love” opens in the aftermath of Arcade Fire’s 360-degree deal with global media and e-commerce platform Everything Now, and features a narrative that unfolds over the course of full performances of “Put Your Money on Me” and “We Don’t Deserve Love” from the GRAMMY-nominated global #1 album Everything Now (Sonovox/Columbia).

Win Butler commented on the ambitious scope of the two-song short film, “The concept of a double video really appealed to us, we’d always loved songs being put together as A and B sides… and these songs seemed perfect together. David has been a great collaborator for us since Reflektor and we were finally able to work with Toni whom we’d been wanting to work with for some time”.

Director/co-writer David Wilson added, “The ambition and scale of the piece was huge from the outset. I adore working with Arcade Fire – reacting to their vision and scale is a beautiful thing to creatively respond to. The belief and trust in me from the band made this one of the best experiences of my career. It’s an as-close-to-perfect collaboration that I can think of with me and Win hitting emails backwards and forwards continually over the formation of the script. The connection, communication and enthusiasm from the band on the multiple shoot days led to an extremely tight bond. I’m super excited for this to be out in the world.”

Toni Collette said of her role, “Arcade Fire is on of my all time favorite bands. I was blown away when they asked me to be part of their video. It was a total pleasure acting with them and an even greater pleasure getting to know them. They continue to inspire and I continue to admire. I mean, who gets to do that? I am so lucky!”

Having closed out 2017 with a triumphant run through Latin America, Arcade Fire resumes its Infinite Content Tour on March 1, when the band headlines the Okeechobee Festival in Okeechobee, Florida. The Infinite Content Tour will see Arcade Fire headlining sold out dates across the UK and Europe from April 6 at the 3Arena in Dublin through June 18 at the Stadthalle in Vienna. Following that, Arcade Fire will return to the States for a trio of festival headlines: Summerfest’s July 8closer (the band’s first Milwaukee appearance in 14 years), July 14 at Sloss Music & Arts Festival in Birmingham AL, and July 15 at Forecastle in Louisville KY.

McCARTNEY FAMILY’S MEAT FREE MONDAY – “A GROWING MOVEMENT”

0

Support for Meat Free Monday has noticeably increased since the launch of ‘One Day a Week’ in November 2017, ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference.

Launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009, Meat Free Monday is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to raise awareness of the damaging environmental impact of eating meat, and to encourage people to help slow climate change, conserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one meat free day each week.

In addition to many individuals, new supporters include universities (UEA, Ulster), businesses (Universal Music UK, Abbey Road Studios) and schools (Trafford Council, Edinburgh City Council). ‘edie’ also went meat free for its annual Sustainability Leaders Forum in January, and a number of cafes and restaurants in Primrose Hill are supporting the campaign this month. The film was promoted by a range of high profile personalities including Ellen DeGeneres, Mike Bloomberg, Richard Branson, Vivienne Westwood, Chris Packham, Ricky Gervais, Gary Barlow, Leona Lewis and The Killers.

Narrated by Paul McCartney, and with appearances by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney, Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone, ‘One Day a Week’ describes how the beauty of the planet only exists through a delicate balance of climatic conditions – a balance we are dangerously disrupting through our overconsumption of animal products.

In an interview about the film with National Geographic, Paul McCartney said: “It’s actually quite fun when you look at what you do, what you eat, how you live and think, ‘Is this what I’m going to do the rest of my life, or would it be interesting to try to make a change?’ I think a lot of people do that these days.”

Meat Free Monday’s aim is to raise awareness and inspire people to make a change in their diets from an easily achievable starting point. And, with increasing plant-based options available in shops and restaurants, it’s easier than ever to take part. According to recent findings by Kantar Worldpanel, 29% of all dinners eaten across the UK in the 12 weeks leading to January 31 2018 were vegetarian or vegan.

“The truth is there are a lot of options these days that you can use – it’s really not difficult,” said Paul. “So what we’re doing with Meat Free Monday is urging people to just try it one day, because it will make some kind of a difference, if enough people do it or if the idea spreads. It is a growing movement.”

The Periodic Table of David Bowie

0

By creating false taxonomies and subjective maps of relationships between ideas and people of note, Paul Robertson creates the illusion of scientific relationships. Periodic Tables, molecules and DNA strands become vectors for a pseudo-scientific mapping of the worlds of celebrity, philosophy, art and music.

THE PERIODIC TABLE OF BOWIE is the last artwork in the Victoria & Albert ‘DAVID BOWIE is’ exhibition. A massive wall vinyl which charts the various influences on the foremost British performer, rock star and actor. The work will travel with the V&A exhibition to other major cities over the next two years (Toronto firstly then San Paolo).

Robertson utilities the fact that in the original real chemical periodic table there are ten “families” of elements which react with others in similar ways within a family. Within these artistic periodic tables the ten families are used to tease out different aspects of the subject matter in a poetic sense.

The work also exists in a number of alternative forms – it is possible to buy the original vinyl wall work (from an edition of three with one artist’s proof) or an A0 Giclee print of the work (one of ten copies plus one artist’s proof) or the much more affordable A2 full colour offset print of the work which is shown below. You can buy the print here.

Watch: Jazz drummer Max Roach remembers how he got his start in music

0

Max Roach was one of the first drummers to play in the bebop style, and performed in bands led by Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Coleman Hawkins, Bud Powell, and Miles Davis. Roach played on many of Parker’s most important records, including the Savoy November 1945 session, a turning point in recorded jazz. The drummer’s early brush work with Powell’s trio, especially at fast tempos, is just genius. Check out this interview from 1993 where Roach explains how he got his start in music.
