The late, great, Glen Campbell hosted his own The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS. A variety show featuring music and comedy, and one of the writers on the show was this guy named Steve Martin. In this clip from 1969, Campbell teamed up with three of his banjo-picking peers (Don Lineberger, John Hartford and Roni Stoneman) and two of his own comedy writers (Mason Williams and a 24-year-old Martin) to play a six-banjo version of “Cripple Creek.”

“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work. All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value,” says Springsteen.
“Bruce Springsteen is one of our greatest musical storytellers, and Broadway is built on a beloved tradition of musical storytelling. What a once-in-a lifetime thrill for all of us at Jujamcyn to welcome Bruce home to his rightful place in the Broadway legacy,” says Jordan Roth, President of Jujamcyn Theaters, which owns the Walter Kerr.
The creative team for “Springsteen on Broadway” includes Heather Wolensky (scenic design), Natasha Katz (lighting design) and Brian Ronan (sound design).

Province Investing in the Revitalization of Toronto’s Historic Massey Hall
Ontario is investing in the revitalization of Massey Hall, the site of many historic cultural performances and experiences, to ensure it continues to engage and entertain people for years to come.
Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and Charles Sousa, Minister of Finance, were joined by JUNO award-winning band July Talk at Massey Hall this morning to make the announcement.
Ontario is supporting the restoration of the interior and exterior of the historic venue and planning for a future tower connected to the south of the building. This project will ensure that Massey Hall — which has hosted artists from Glenn Gould to Neil Young and Bob Dylan to Justin Bieber over its 123-year history — continues to host many more iconic performances and enrich peoples’ lives for generations to come.
The province previously provided support for Massey Hall renovations, including the construction of a foundation for the new south tower.

Frank Sinatra tells about a funny prank Don Rickles played on Frank
Let’s stop for a moment and realize just how fearless Don Rickles was. No one was too big to mock, and one of his favorite targets was Frank Sinatra — the man no one teased, let alone whispered a bad word in case someone else was listening. Don got Frank good one night, and it turned out to be Sinatra’s favorite prank of all time.

LaDainian Tomlinson’s Hall Of Fame Speech Is One For The Ages
Former Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson delivers his inspirational and motivational speech as he is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“The family legacy that began in such a cruel way has given birth to generations of successful, caring Tomlinsons. I firmly believe God chose me to help bring two races together under one last name.
“My story is America’s story. All our ancestors, unless we are American Indian, came from another country, another culture. Football is a microcosm of America. All races, religions, creeds are living, playing, and competing side-by-side. America is the land of opportunity. Let’s not slam the door on those who may look and sound different than us, rather, let’s open it wide for those who believe themselves that anything is possible and are willing to compete and take whatever risk necessary to work hard and succeed.”
The secret rhythm behind Radiohead’s “Videotape”
In Vox’s first episode of Earworm, they talk with Warren Lain. He’s a Radiohead fan who also happens to be an incredibly talented musician and music teacher. In December, 2016 he uploaded a 38-minute video to YouTube about the Radiohead song “Videotape.” He had been thinking about the music theory behind this seemingly simple song for the better part of a decade. The reason? “Videotape”, a slow rhythmically monotonous song, is actually syncopated. For music lovers like me who are simply useless with the recording studio, I’m loving the explanation about this musical illusion.
Elbow Compact Cassette Player Will Make You Wanna Create Mixed Tapes Again
Elbow’s new cassette player just might me dig up those mixed tapes I made in the 70s and 80s. Elbow strips away most mechanical parts of a traditional cassette player, resulting in a strikingly minimal and laconic design. User interaction is made easy and intuitive thanks to bi-axial arm and control wheel, while allowing more playback control than ever before. In addition to boasting a slick, clean aesthetic, Elbow can be pinned to clothes and fabrics, turning your favorite tape into a fashionable accessory.

Jim Carrey On His Love of Painting, Sculpting and Isolation: “I Needed Color”
When I was a kid, I spent half my time in the living room performing for people. I spent the other half the time in my bedroom by myself, writing poetry and sketching. I was not the type of kid who you could say as punishment, ‘go to your room’because my room was heaven to me. My isolation was welcome.
