U2 Announces “Achtung Baby” Las Vegas Residency With Mega Super Bowl Commercial

U2 dropped the ultimate sneak peek – to a mass global audience – today with a Super Bowl commercial that has fans wondering if the band is perhaps announcing inter-planetary travel or an out-of-this-world experience. The ad HERE gives a glimpse into their next ambitious project – titled ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere’ – which will see the world’s biggest rock band launch the world’s most exciting all-new state-of-the-art venue, MSG Sphere at The Venetian, in Las Vegas this Fall. This special run of shows marks the band’s first live outing in four years, following the massive success of their acclaimed Joshua Tree 30th anniversary stadium tour which was seen by over 3.2 million fans worldwide and their 2018 eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE indoor tour which played to a combined audience of 1 million across Europe and North America.

The full-length trailer announcement is a celebration of the global U2 community, featuring a select group of new and longtime U2 fans (along with a few band doppelgangers) coming together for a futuristic Achtung Baby adventure in a unique desert landscape.

Acknowledged as the best live act in the world, U2 have always – since their earliest days, including the industry-defining ZOO TV Tour which broke the mold in 1991 – consistently pushed the boundaries of live performance, with ground-breaking stage shows that embrace the latest in technology and innovation. Live Nation’s announcement that the band will launch MSG Sphere, the state-of-the art venue currently dominating the Las Vegas skyline, is fitting for a show from the world’s most thrilling live band.

The announcement comes with confirmation that Larry Mullen Jr. will take time out to undergo and recuperate from surgery in 2023. These Las Vegas shows will see Larry and the band welcome drummer Bram van den Berg who will be sitting in to join Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton onstage at MSG Sphere.

Bono, The Edge and Adam said, “It’s going to take all we’ve got to approach the Sphere without our bandmate in the drum seat, but Larry has joined us in welcoming Bram van den Berg who is a force in his own right.

The Sphere show has been in the works for a long time. We don’t want to let people down, least of all our audience… the truth is we miss them as much as they appear to miss us… our audience was always the fifth member of the band. Bottom line, U2 hasn’t played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again. And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert… We’re the right band, ACHTUNG BABY the right album, and the Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level… That’s what U2’s been trying to do all along with our satellite stages and video installations, most memorably on the ZOO TV Tour, which ended in Tokyo 30 years ago this Fall.

The Sphere is more than just a venue, it’s a gallery and U2’s music is going to be all over the walls.”

The Edge added – “The beauty of the Sphere is not only the ground-breaking technology that will make it so unique, with the world’s most advanced audio system, integrated into a structure which is designed with sound quality as a priority; it’s also the possibilities around immersive experience in real and imaginary landscapes. In short, it’s a canvas of an unparalleled scale and image resolution and a once-in-a-generation opportunity. We all thought about it and decided we’d be mad not to accept the invitation.”

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. Executive Chairman and CEO James L. Dolan said, “MSG Sphere’s advanced technology allows a legendary band like U2 to bring its music to life in entirely new ways. The Sphere is a new medium that will redefine entertainment.”

MSG Sphere introduces a new medium of entertainment. Fans will feel the impact of the greatest band in the world’s most experiential venue. MSG Sphere introduces the first 16K screen that wraps up, around, and behind the audience. Sphere Immersive Sound delivers pitch perfect audio to every seat in the house. 4D technologies will let the audience feel the wind on their face, the heat on their skin and the rumble of thunder. The ‘U2 UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere’ opening series of shows will tap into this exclusive technology, allowing fans to experience something completely new.

The band has also released “One” from their new album Songs Of Surrender – a collection of 40 seminal U2 songs from across the band’s catalog, re-recorded and reimagined for 2023 in sessions spanning the last two years which sees the band revisit some of the most celebrated songs of their 40+ year career, to be released in full on Friday March 17th. A special world premiere of “One” could be heard during the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Super Bowl feature. Listen here.

The seven TRACE honourees include Adonis Huggins, Charlene Rokhaya-Jaye, Naila Keleta-Mae, Renee Rankine, Rosemary Sadlier, Rustum Southwell, and Tunde Dawodu.

The inspiration for the song comes from the TRACE project itself–the desire to discover true role models who do a lot for their community but do not boast about their actions. The afrobeat genre at its core follows a similar principle; allow the instrumentals to speak to the narrative while the vocals are simply an added flourish. “It inspired me to focus on the musical arrangement that will balance the TRACE beautiful narratives,” says Sonia.

Bitcoin in 2023: To Play It Safe or Buy The Dip?

By Mitch Rice

Even though the late crypto fluctuations weren’t much to rejoice over, investors still hold on to their digital assets or look to buy the dip. The high liquidity associated with digital currency makes it a good investment vehicle for short-term profits. While making a quick buck was off the table at the end of last year, things seem to have changed for the better for most of the cryptocurrencies out there. Plus, the Federal Reserve declared that interest rates would grow, meaning that Bitcoin might be a good choice for investors with short-term, two-to-four-week horizons and rich knowledge of crypto. However, some risks weigh heavily, like a possible global recession.

Bitcoin, the oldest and largest cryptocurrency, has had the second-best January in ten years, and bullish sentiment is growing. Starting in 2023 at ~16,600, its price has jumped to $24.621 at the moment of writing. More importantly, the spike isn’t limited to Bitcoin – just about every digital coin across the board is up. Several notable gainers have been:

  • Meme coins
  • Gaming cryptos
  • Metaverse cryptos.

When asked if now’s the time to invest in Bitcoin (or any other cryptocurrency), the answer should be “probably”. Price charts reveal the past performance of a coin. However, because the fluctuations are so abrupt, you should consider more factors when deciding to invest, such as your risk tolerance, financial situation, investment experience, and objectives.

There are numerous predictions and differing expert opinions. But there are also patterns and common behaviours, so let’s dig into this subject to determine whether now’s the time to take advantage of the pullback.

How to approach Bitcoin investing in 2023

What do seasoned investors do when there are such broad predictions? Well, one option can be diversification, but as opposed to traditional investment markets, this isn’t quite the same.

Typically, when BTC rises, everything goes up with it. The same happens when it’s down. Diversification changes the number of fluctuations in your portfolio, and when Bitcoin is the least volatile asset you own, you might be in for a bumpy ride.

Mixed signals for Bitcoin

Almost no one can agree on which measure or indication is ideal for projecting Bitcoin’s future path. Some long-term investors, for example, analyse the risk of the Federal Reserve tightening monetary policy or use macroeconomic numbers. Others focus on crypto metrics. Therefore, there are three main camps when it comes to BTC. On the one hand, BTC bulls think the crypto pioneer is on a space-bound rocket ship. On the other hand, there are the BTC bears who think of it as a “bull trap”. And in the middle, you’ll find the investors who hold onto Bitcoin for different reasons.

Bitcoin’s four-year cycles

If you’re crypto savvy and have invested in digital currency for a long time, you know about Bitcoin’s four-year cycle. The timing isn’t perfect, and some doubt the strength of the pattern. There’s definitely a pattern, though, and it’s historically proven. There were Bitcoin crashes in 2018 and 2014, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that 2022 witnessed a collapse, too. However, this means that there were increases in 2019 and 2015, and if the pattern hasn’t gotten weaker over time, 2023 should follow in the footsteps and should end fruitfully.

Some analysts believe in the power of the four-cycle pattern and think this year looks like 2019. Bitcoin exploded and increased by 247% as soon as the Fed ceased tightening in 2019. While previous performance doesn’t guarantee future results, some traders feel that its success in 2019 may predict what occurs in 2023.

The four-year pattern isn’t a coincidence. Bitcoin tends to run in these cycles due to its halving, an event that happens every four years and means that the reward for BTC is cut in half. This is a policy integrated into its mining algorithm to combat inflation by ensuring scarcity. That’s been the case since the first halving in 2012. With each event, the dynamics in the market change.

A lot is on the Fed, too, so keep an eye on the monetary policy if you’re going to follow any indicator or metric. A “buy the dip” opportunity might appear again, and if you’re dollar-cost averaging, you’ll likely be prepared. This means you’ll simply stick to your long-term investment strategy instead of timing the market and stressing over any significant fluctuation. As history shows, some undervalued investments are bargains waiting to explode. Take Warren Buffet’s example.

In 2008, the US economy started to falter, and while investors were racing for the exits, Buffet, Berkshire Hathaway’s chairman and CEO, began spending. He threw a lifeline to several companies despite their plummeting stock prices. He invested in companies like Dow Chemical, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, and made over $10B in profits when the market recovered.

Characteristics of a crypto bull market

A bull market is a rising market where cryptocurrencies appreciate, whereas a bear market is one where they depreciate. Given the volatility and fluctuations native to the crypto market, these terms refer to more extended periods of mostly upward and downward shifts. The bull market will continue as long as supply exceeds demand. After a period, the bull “needs rest”, and the market turns into a bear market.

The following attitudes and actions distinguish a bull market:

  • Widespread interest in cryptocurrency among influencers, celebrities and other categories that were indifferent before
  • Insertion of talks about cryptocurrency in social and mainstream media
  • Growth in investor confidence in the market
  • High demand despite limited supply
  • Increased prices over a long period
  • Overpricing of certain projects.

A “bull run” is a long period when many investors buy digital currencies and is described by the characteristics mentioned above. Investor confidence usually leads to a positive feedback loop and an extended bull run. For crypto, the price is highly impacted and driven by public confidence in an asset.

Some well-established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum can make good investments. They are, however, extremely volatile, necessitating a thorough grasp of the crypto market and the technology underlying it, as well as your risk tolerance and goals.

The SOCAN Foundation, part of the SOCAN Group of companies, is thrilled to announce Kellylee Evans and Savannah Ré as the grand prize recipients of the third annual Her Music Awards, in partnership with Bandzoogle.

“This important initiative has previously supported trailblazing artists including Haviah Mighty, Leela Gilday, Nuela Charles, and Caveboy,” said Charlie Wall-Andrews, Executive Director of SOCAN Foundation. “We’re thrilled to add the incredible Savannah Ré and Kellylee Evans to this group as this year’s grand prize recipients. We are thankful for the support of Bandzoogle and community stakeholders that made the Her Music Awards possible, and have allowed us to celebrate in person this year!”

SOCAN CEO, Jenn Brown and past Her Music Award winner Haviah Mighty, announced the recipients at an intimate, in-person celebration hosted by previous award winner Nuela Charles in Toronto, ON on February 9, 2023. Grand prize recipients, Kellylee Evans and Savannah Ré, were both awarded a $5,000 cash prize and a one-year complimentary membership from the Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.) and Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec (SPACQ).

“I was so surprised and honoured to hear that I had been chosen for this award alongside Savannah Ré,” said Kellylee Evans. “As my career shifts and changes with the years, my love for creating has not dampened. This recognition gives me the affirmation and the energy to keep going, despite the challenges along the way. I’m so thankful.”

“So happy an award like this even exists. Winning the Her Music Award is a significant achievement because it’s an award that empowers and recognizes female creators,” said Savannah Ré. “It highlights our talents and contributions to the music industry. It also helps to promote and support female artists in the industry, which can be especially important in an industry that has traditionally been dominated by men. This award will open doors for me and help me pave the way to reaching my goals in my career.”

Additionally, five Her Music Awards honourable mention distinctions were awarded to Haley Blais, Jorane, Moira & Claire, Tanika Charles and Zeina. Each of these recipients received a $1,000 cash prize.

The Her Music Awards is a program designed to celebrate and support female-identifying Canadian music creators on the verge of taking their creative careers to the next level. The Awards are administered by the SOCAN Foundation, with financial contributions made by SOCAN Foundation and Bandzoogle.

“We would like to congratulate Kellylee Evans and Savannah Ré for receiving Her Music Awards,” said Stacey Bedford, CEO Bandzoogle. “We couldn’t be happier to support this amazing initiative from the SOCAN Foundation, and we wish these incredible artists continued success in their careers.”

Applications were adjudicated on a number of factors, including artistic merit, career potential, and impact. The jury was composed of Cécile Doo-Kingué, Carole Facal, Kesi Smyth, Suzie Ungerleider, and jury committee chair Shakura S’Aida.

Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy Create A Musical “Canvas” With New Studio Album Out March 17, 2023

A blank canvas is full of possibility — much like the partnership of Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, whose new album Canvas comes out March 17, 2023. They are two of the world’s top Celtic fiddlers: she a renowned, award-winning solo artist from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; he from the legendary Leahy family of Ontario, an intergenerational musical act that toured the world. They were married in 2002, by which point their cumulative album sales topped one million. A power couple was born.

Canvas is only their third album together. They approached it not bound by easy patterns or habits, but as a blank canvas. “Creativity comes when there is space for it,” says MacMaster. “One thing Donnell and I were given in 2020 was the space and time to be creative, to think and focus and find what was inside of us. Like an empty canvas, our minds were clear, open for the music that was about to flow. There were no restrictions, rules, agendas, considerations. As Donnell often said, ‘Let the music decide.’ So, we indulged in full musical freedom, throwing patterns of the past aside. With a few challenges along the way, it was a delight from beginning to end.”

Rock, pop, Latin and classical influences come to the fore on the new material of mostly original melodies. Guests include Rhiannon Giddens (“Woman of the House”), Yo-Yo Ma (“So You Love”) Brian Finnegan (“Colour Theory”)—and, on “Choo Choo,” their 17-year-old daughter Mary Frances Leahy.

All seven of their children have become essential components of the live show, which sells out performing arts centres across North America—especially leading up to Christmas holidays. “Initially we were reluctant to let the kids perform. We worried the expectations might be too much,” Leahy says. “But then one night we put Mary Frances on stage. Soon after that Michael wanted to play. When I was a kid, I played the fiddle for my parents and my brothers and sisters. But you need to get into the game at some point. For me, the game was playing house parties. Our kids are practicing and when they come out on stage and do their little number, it’s their reward. They feel like a part of the tour and that provides amazing gratification.”

“I was so in awe of Donnell’s family,” says MacMaster, “of 11 siblings who could play and had a family band. And here I am now doing almost exactly the same thing. Well, kind of.”

Like any great marriage or artistic collaboration, MacMaster and Leahy have learned how to bring out the best in each other. “With Donnell, I had to listen more deeply to subtleties in his music so that I wouldn’t muscle over them,” MacMaster says. “I also had to try and roll with his rhythm. Having said that, I still play in my Cape Breton style. Only about 40 percent of our show is us playing together. The other 60 percent is arrangements where we each take turns or are playing alone.” “I think the thing I’m most proud of is Natalie,” says Leahy. “She’s a musical star but her commitment to her family and to me is a side nobody gets to see. She’s so giving. It’s never ‘no’ with her.”

Listening to Canvas, the average listener might not be able to discern the difference in their two styles — and it doesn’t matter, because either way you’re listening to two of the best fiddlers on the planet. MacMaster and Leahy are as dynamic working together as they were working apart, which is why they have fans like Shania Twain and the Chieftains, an audience that stretches from Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Sydney, Australia.

True-life stories in the entertainment world (or anywhere) don’t come more remarkable than that.

Award-Winning Philadelphia Pianist and Songwriter Joe Kenney Returns With Stunning & Cinematic Collaboration, Prevailing

Since he released his debut album Afflictions and Remedies in 2015, Joe Kenney has been lauded as one of the most unique and innovative artists on the classical music scene. Garnering praise and press attention for his singular ability to flawlessly merge a variety of musical genres and styles, Kenney has a rare gift for blending classical music theory, jazz fusion, rock, soul, and hip-hop.

In the eight years since he began his career, he has released five critically acclaimed albums, all featuring both original compositions and transformative cover arrangements. His cover of the Twenty-One Pilots hit Stressed Out was hailed as “perfection” by DJ Wendy Rollins of WXPN and his 2020 multi-genre collaboration album, Forth, won a bronze medal in the online “Global Music Awards” competition and was featured on 85 stations in the US and Canada. Kenney’s 2022 solo piano album, Reflections on Inner Transformation, charted at #15 on the Zone Music Reporter Charts. Kenney has also built an incredible reputation as a live performer with his band, packing such esteemed venues as City Winery, World Café Live, Heritage, and SOUTH Jazz Club.

With his latest studio release Prevailing, Kenney has teamed up with violinist Hope Linton, a passionate and gifted musician and music educator who plays regularly with the Lancaster Symphony. A fellow West Chester University of Pennsylvania music performance alumnus, Hope has also just created her first patent-pending product in the music education space and is constantly innovating in an effort to make great violin and viola music accessible to as many ages and levels as possible. The result of this collaboration is a glorious and stirring piece, at once emotive and powerful.

Cinematic and sweeping, Prevailing is the first single on an upcoming album by Kenney and Linton. From the first note, Linton’s lyrical and rich violin playing merge perfectly with Kenney’s graceful and elegant piano. Inspired by an impromptu session Kenney posted on Tik Tok, Prevailing is the musical expression of the courage it takes to tackle fear and relentlessly pursue dreams. As Kenney explains, “In my life and career, that comes with embracing the unknowns of the music industry, trusting instincts and following my art, and continually challenging myself to level up as a performer, songwriter, and recording artist.”

In their first collaboration together, Kenney brings his gift for improvisation, and Hope is integral in fine-tuning ideas for creating a structure and arrangement that has an intentionality to match the spirit of the music. The process for this work and upcoming songs in the project involves re-listening to daily improvisations that Kenney posts on Tik-Tok, and Linton’s identifying bits and pieces worth honing in on and perfecting. Prevailing begins as a softly lilting piece and gains strength and emotion as Kenney and Linton perfectly complement each other.

The result of this union is a wholly unique, enchanting and heart-rending piece that draws listeners in from the first notes.

When Is It Time To Upgrade Your Website?

By Mitch Rice

Technology is a fast-moving factor, especially when it comes to websites. Your website represents the online entrance to your company. Therefore, it frequently serves as a potential customer’s initial impression of your company. Besides, a dated website with poor appeal or functionality does more harm than good to a company.

When built correctly, your website can be a powerful tool for engaging new clients and a foolproof method to retain the ones you already have. However, the success of a website involves more than just ‘being online.’ The true success of your webpage revolves around how often it is upgraded.

But how do you know if it’s the right time to upgrade your website?

Continue reading our blog to understand key pointers that indicate the right time to upgrade your website.

Situations That Indicate It’s Time To Upgrade Your Website?

Does your website reflect your brand strategy and branding?

Your website should reflect your business offering (not five years ago). There is a good chance that this has changed over time, but if not, now is a wonderful moment to do a marketing “health check” for your company and compare it to those of your rivals.

Similar to how fashiontrends fluctuate, what formerly worked for your company (and your customers) might not presently. Consider your brand, consumers’ needs, and the most recent design trends to see if they fit.

Is your current website effective?

Each firm may define its marketing requisites differently. For example, your website may serve as a lead-generating tool, a gateway, or a store where customers can purchase your goods or something. However, your design alone cannot define the effectiveness of your website.

Other elements like loading speed, the overall content on your website, and videos, among others, determine your website’s effectiveness. So, if you encounter any element that doesn’t align with your marketing needs, try optimizing or removing it from the page.

Your website isn’t attracting the right clients

Your business is only putting you in a good position on the market if you receive inquiries from the clients you want to engage with. But what should you do in such situations? The answer is simple, curate your work with care.

Start by examining the articles and galleries on your website and eliminate any work you don’t want to continue doing. Once done, choose your most recent photographs (the kinds of projects you want to work on more) and include them on your homepage.

This way, you will automatically filter out unsuitable inquiries for your business. Besides, while you’re at it, you might also want to ensure that everything in your material, including the symbols, colors, and fonts, is consistent. These small but crucial elements are key instances of illustration of consistency in a website.

Your website deals with outdated themes and technology.

The theme and overall design influence how your visitors interact with your website. When it comes to effectiveness, ‘old school is no longer cool.’ The digital world is dynamic and ever-evolving. New tools and technology for creating a decent website are mandated by changing web standards every year.

Even more rapidly than consumer tastes and preferences change. What was popular yesterday could not be the case next week. As a result, you must be flexible with your visual presentation and website design if you want your business to prosper.

For instance, previously, you might have developed an entire payment processing platform for your website. But thanks to the changing times, today we have tech-savvy customers who enjoy transacting in cryptocurrencies. So would you go for another round of development and slow down your website?

You must visit Coingate and install their crypto payment plugin on your website. This way, you’ll have a better opportunity to accept crypto payments without hassle.

Your SEO efforts are not bringing any result

Are your SEO efforts failing?

If yes, chances are your website’s ranking is affected since you haven’t updated it for a long time. But on the other hand, a website update is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the arrangement of your content, add new phrases or keywords, and improve your SEO approach.

Additionally, if you don’t already have a dedicated blog section, now is the ideal moment to start and constantly update it with fresh information to increase traffic to your website. It is a strong marketing tool that may increase website traffic and user engagement through internal links, keywords, and backlinks. In addition, when structured accurately, your blog section can help you crawl search engine rankings in no time.

Small Changes Are The Way To Go!

You needn’t redo things from scratch whenever your website demands an upgrade. Making minor adjustments like updating an event or including a product description are small but effective measures in your scale-up efforts.

However, if none of the elements help you increase web rankings, consider getting a new website designed on an easy-to-use content management system.
