Hacked Louisville Station Airs YG & Nipsey Hussle’s Anti-Trump Song. Oops.

0

A Low Power FM in Louisville was reportedly hijacked on Friday by hackers who aired an audio loop of an indecency-laden anti-Trump song for 15 minutes. The hackers took control of the signal of Crescent Hill Radio variety WCHQ-LP (100.9) through software the station uses for the Emergency Alert System to gain access to its signal from the station’s transmitter site.

Other stations were hacked around the same time, airing the same loop, including Southern Wabash Communications regional Mexican “El Jefe” WMGC Nashville (810) and Sunday Morning Glory’s KCGF-LP San Angelo, TX (100.5), according to Radio Insight.

The clip was of a song by rap artists YG & Nipsey Hussle titled, “FDT (F*** Donald Trump),” Sampson told the Courier-Journal. The loop aired for 15 minutes until station manager Kathy Weisbach was able to shut down the broadcast.

David Bowie Remembered With Brilliant Data-Driven Breakdown of ‘Space Oddity’

0

W+K London’s first window display of 2017 is ‘Space Oddity – a visual deconstruction’ which uses data to create a tribute to the work of David Bowie on the one-year anniversary of his death.

Conceived by designer Valentina D’Efilippo and researcher Miriam Quick, and curated by W+K, the project visualises musical data from Bowie’s 1969 track ‘Space Oddity’ as a series of 10 specially engraved records, with accompanying large scale art prints and projection. Each 12-inch disc deconstructs the track in a different way: melodies, harmonies, lyrics, structure and underlying story are all transformed into compelling visual imagery that inhabits the broken interstellar world of the song.

The Kinks’ Ray Davies teams up with the Jayhawks on ‘Poetry’ song

0

For more than 50 years, the recently knighted Sir Raymond Douglas Davies, CBE, has been fascinated with American music and American culture. In the early 1960s, he and his brother Dave formed the Kinks to play Little Richard songs and original tunes steeped in rock ‘n’ roll. All these years later, Ray Davies is still making music and still fascinated with our culture, although the new song that NPR are premiering recorded with the Jayhawks, looks at a sadder, less soul-filled America.

“Poetry” is the first glimpse of his next album, Americana, his first record in nearly a decade. Where Ray Davies was once enchanted by the black hills of Kentucky, this song looks at America’s fascination with materialism. He sings:

“I kneel down and say grace for the comforts the world bestows on me / And the great corporations providing our every need / And those big neon signs telling us what to eat / And every shop window goods are designed to please / Oh but I ask / Where is the poetry?”
Americana the album draws inspiration from Americana the memoir, which included thoughts on the Kinks’ ban from America in the ’60s and Ray’s move to the U.S. later in life. The album also contains a number of spoken-word passages from Davies’ autobiography.

It’s a thrill to have new songs from Ray Davies, who for the past five decades has been one of rock’s great song painters, making music with heart and poetry.

Americana will be released April 21.
