Sir Paul McCartney has filed suit against Sony/ATV Music Publishing in New York Federal Court, seeking a declaration that he can exercise his termination rights under the Copyright Act of 1976 in order to reclaim the rights to many of his musical compositions for The Beatles. Far from being broke, it’s more of a matter of McCartney knowing he may face an uphill battle in reclaiming his song rights since his original contracts are governed by U.K. law, hence, filing in New York.

Lin-Manuel Miranda Just Posted 8 Demo Versions Of “Hamilton” Songs
In July 2008, Lin-Manuel Miranda read Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton on vacation and, inspired by the book, wrote a rap about Hamilton for the White House Evening of Poetry, Music, and the Spoken Word on May 12, 2009, accompanied by Alex Lacamoire. Miranda later said he spent a year writing the Hamilton song “My Shot”, revising it countless times for every verse to reflect Alexander Hamilton’s intellect. By 2012, Miranda was performing an extended set of pieces based on the life of Hamilton, referred to as the Hamilton Mixtape; the New York Times called it “an obvious game changer”. In 2015, Chernow and Miranda received the 2015 History Makers Award by the New York Historical Society for their work in creating Hamilton.
The New Pornographers Will Release New Album, “Whiteout Conditions” On April 7
Whiteout Conditions, the new full-length record from critically acclaimed supergroup The New Pornographers, is due April 7 via Dine Alone Records in Canada. In celebration of the new album, the group is sharing the interactive lyric video for the track “High Ticket Attractions” created by Vancouver-based interactive artist Chris Shier. The song is premiering today on all streaming services. The album is available for pre-order today with a glow-in-the-dark poster.
