Canadian Music Week is bringing back the start-up pitch competition Launch Pad next year
Canadian Music Week, running from April 18-22, has announced that it will be bringing back its start-up pitch competition Launch Pad again next year.
The event will be held on April 19 at the Sheraton Centre Hotel and the prize will include a cash award, a one-hour meeting with each member of a judging panel of industry professionals and a 15-minute presentation during the festival and conference’s Global Creators Summit.
The competition is open to music-connected start-ups in the early states of development.
Last year’s judges included Michael Wekerle, Larry Marcus, Jeff Liebenson, Jeremy Silver and Ted Cohen.
ATB Anthem: Call for Artists In Alberta
ATB Financial will be launching a brand new campaign that’s main theme will be “listening”. They are currently looking for Alberta artists to perform, in unexpected places, and to craft their own take on an original anthem. The song “Resonate” was written by Alberta musician Ben Spencer and is inspired by life in Alberta.
Artists will be asked to perform the anthem, as well as approximately 30 minutes of their own material in pop-up venues at high traffic locations (TBD). The performances will take place across Alberta in locations like Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Grande Prairie and Lethbridge from October 4-8, 2016.

The ‘Damn Fine Coffee’ edition of the newly reissued vinyl soundtrack for the ‘Twin Peaks’ television series
Death Waltz have unveiled details and artwork of their long-awaited reissue of Angelo Badalamenti’sTwin Peaks soundtrack.
Over twenty five years since its initial release, and mooted since 2014, the vinyl reissue pulls out all the stops, with Death Waltz diving back into the Warner archives to cut brand new masters for the heavyweight vinyl edition, coloured to match Dale Cooper’s “Damn fine coffee”.
With artwork by Sam Smith and full package design by Jay Shaw, the soundtrack is housed in a super-heavyweight 425gsm gatefold sleeve with a bespoke white die cut outer jacket and white spot varnish finish and comes complete with obi strip for the avid collectors out there.

Even when she was a 30-year-old actress starting out, Helen powerful. In this 1975 interview, Mirren takes on British talk show host Michael Parkinson who asks questions so bizarre it would be passable for a cheap gossip site now.
It begins on an awkward note when Parkinson introduced Mirren as a “sex queen,” and then said, “You are in quotes a serious actress.”
“Because serious actresses can’t have big bosoms, is that what you mean?” Mirren asked.
“Well, I think that they might sort of detract from the performance,” Parkinson said with a laugh.
“What a crummy performance if people are obsessed with the size of your bosoms more than anything else,” Mirren said.
