Dog LOVES Watching His Favorite Movie ‘Bolt’

0

I mean this, my daughter, Hannah, is the biggest fan of Bolt. My wife and I went to every Disney store, often, to check for new Bolt merch, clothes, anything, when the movie first came out. Nothing. And who doesn’t love Bolt? He’s passionate, powerful and possessed of real star quality. Hannah has met her match when it comes to fandom, though, as this dog named Stryker pleasantly watches the film with glee.

Bill Murray on why he acts like a jerk sometimes

0

I‘m just an obnoxious guy who can make it appear charming, that’s what they pay me to do.
– Bill Murray in October 1988

T.J. English was tasked with writing a profile of Bill Murray for Irish America magazine. This was around the time Scrooged came out. So he headed out to Murray’s house in New Jersey. The guys sat down and the tape recorder was turned on. Murray’s dog ran about and wrecked a little havoc.

Murray cracked wise on giving back to his mom when he made it big, hijinks on the set of Ghostbusters, the spiritual change that saved him from destruction, and how fame sort of helps with talking to women.

I act like a jerk sometimes, and that’s sort of what the product is. You get these people who act like, “what the hell.” When you act obnoxious towards people, like on a movie set, they say “we’re ready for you” and I say “oh, go to hell, my feet hurt and my head aches.” You want to have a margarita for lunch, and people like these little ADs and production assistants are like, “Well, he’s drinking again.” Drinking again? Go to hell. All I ever do is make some movies that made a lot of money now leave me alone, I want to have some fun. On Ghostbusters they had somebody following us. Following us. You walk down the street, you turn around and somebody would duck into a doorway. Just to control us and make sure we didn’t do anything too weird. It’s like, “What the hell.” I didn’t get into this position by being like a stiff sitting on the set in a folding chair. I did it by walking around on the streets and stirring things up.

Record Companies And Pandora Reach Agreement On Pre-1972 Recordings

0

Pandora and a coalition of independent and major record companies announced that they have agreed to a $90 million settlement for Pandora’s use of recordings created before 1972.

The confidential settlement is between Pandora and ABKCO Music & Records, Capitol Records, Sony Music Entertainment, UMG Recordings and Warner Music Group. The settlement provides a nationwide resolution for Pandora’s use of the plaintiffs’ pre-1972 recordings.

“Pandora is excited to have found resolution with these record labels,” said Brian McAndrews, Chief Executive Officer at Pandora. “Together we share a common objective to grow the music industry and support artists. We pursued this settlement in order to move the conversation forward and continue to foster a better, collaborative relationship with the labels.”

“Major settlements with SiriusXM and now Pandora means that an iconic generation of artists and the labels that supported them will be paid for the use of their creative works,” said Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Chairman and CEO, Cary Sherman. “That is a significant milestone and a big win for the music community. We appreciate the collaborative and constructive approach of Pandora’s team in resolving this longstanding issue for artists and labels.”

Watch Michael Jackson Perform With James Brown

0

In August 1983, James Brown and band were playing the Beverly Theatre in Los Angeles with legendary blues man B.B. King for what was already a formidable pairing of music royalty. Then halfway through the set that evening James Brown introduced a very special guest to join him onstage – a 25-year-old Michael Jackson, hot on the heels of his Thriller album at the time, inconspicuously watching the show from the audience. Michael wowed the crowd with a spontaneous song and dance performance that was spectacular and all too brief.

Andy Kim Announced as 2016 Inductee to Canadian Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame

0
Canadian Music Week is pleased to announce Andy Kim as the 2016 inductee to the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame. Andy will be honoured for his achievements and longstanding career in the music industry at the annual Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards Gala Dinner in the Grand Ballroom at the Sheraton Centre on Thursday May 5, 2016.

“Andy Kim’s contributions to the Canadian and international music community are truly remarkable in his 50+ year career. As a former recipient of the Indie Award for Favorite Solo Artist during Canadian Music Week, we are so proud to have him as part of the CMW alumni and are thrilled at his induction into the Hall of Fame”, says CMW President Neill Dixon.

Legendary songwriter and recording artist Andy Kim was born in Montreal, QC Canada. At the age of 16 Andy travelled to New York and found fame when he began to write and work alongside The Brill Building writer Jeff Barry. During Kim’s time at The Brill Building he penned and recorded classic hits including “How’d We Ever Get This Way?”, the first of nine Billboard Top 40 hits, and #1 songs like “Rock Me Gently” and the Archie’s “Sugar, Sugar”, one of Billboard’s “Greatest Songs of All Time.”
“The moment I heard the news I realized this voyage I’m on still surprises. I’m humbled and honoured to be recognized in the same breath as my great peers and friends in the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame,” says Andy Kim. “Thank you to Neill Dixon and everyone at Canadian Music Week for continuing to keep music alive.”

Over his epic career Andy sold over 30 million records, has had his songs covered by music history’s greats, including Wilson Pickett, Tom Jones, Ike & Tina Turner, Gladys Knight and Bob Marley and inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Andy returned in 2015 with his latest release ‘It’s Decided’, a  collaboration with Broken Social Scene co-founder Kevin Drew. Featuring a re-working of Andy’s 1969 hit “Shoot Em Up Baby”, and contemporary songs like “Sister, OK”, which Kim performed live on David Letterman during the show’s final days, ‘It’s Decided’ marks a relevant shift in the life and times of Andy Kim, and reinforces his role as one of Canada’s great singer-songwriters.

As Drew says, this is “Andy’s heartfelt want to still make it even though many would say his history is enough. Gentle and enigmatic, ageless and ecstatic. Andy Kim always looks to transcend and find the honesty in what he does and does with others.”
Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies goes on to state “Andy Kim is a true Canadian Legend… It was such a pleasure to write and produce a song with Andy Kim. He believes in the power of music, he loves songs, and he is SO rock and Roll. Beyond the massive hits, and the multi-decade career, there is a wonderful man who I’m proud to call my friend.” Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith adds  “Whenever I hear an Andy Kim song I can’t help but be transported back in time. So many of my childhood memories are hinged upon these classic pop songs such as “Sugar Sugar”. It feels like some kind of surreal dream to be able to call him a friend.”

eOne Music signs The Wild!

0

Canadian party animals, THE WILD! have signed a worldwide deal with eOne Music with plans to release an all new LP in 2016. “Me & the fellas are fuckin’ fired up about this deal man!,” says frontman Dylan Villain. “I know a lot of our fans in the U.S. & overseas have been waiting to get their hands on this record. We’re stoked to say the day is here. Go grab that shit & turn it up!”

The band is re-releasing their EP GxDxWxB today in the U.S. along with a music video for their hit single “Roadhouse” exclusively via New Noise Magazine, directed by Vancouver hip-hop music video director Stuey Kubrick. The LP was expertly produced by Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, Jimmy Page, Dave Grohl, Van Halen) at the legendary Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC with additional production completed at the city’s Armoury Studios. Boozus, their bassist weighs in as well, “We’re big fans of eOne’s roster. We feel we have a great team behind us. We couldn’t be more stoked to get this record out & get on the road in the USA. Shine up your party boots – We’re comin’!”

The band is hitting the road next week with BUCKCHERRY for a string of dates throughout Canada. On October 26 the band will hit The Oak in Winnipeg before stretching all the way to Vancouver for a set at The Commodore just about a month later.

Make no mistake. Villain and partners in crime, burly bearded singer-bassist Boozus, chrome-domed drummer Reese Lightning and recently recruited rhythm guitarist Pistol Pete, come by that sound and that rep honestly. The band hails from the wilds of Kelowna, B.C., where they grew up like every other rural teenager. “We were riding around in crappy vehicles down dirt roads, listening to old rock’n’roll, punk rock & metal records going to bush parties, hunting and fishing,” Villain says. The latter was earned over the course of a decade together in the rock ’n’ roll trenches, honing their notoriously over-the-top live show in every warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse that would have them.

Now they’re a thicker than water. They’ve been through the fire. And they bring it with them every time they step on the stage. “It’s definitely about that fire,” stresses Villain. “Sure, you’ve gotta play well. But there’s something more than just hitting the right notes and playing everything perfect. You’ve gotta give it everything every night. You have to put your foot to the floor and never stop, red line that the whole goddamn way.” You might think these guys are nothing but redneck beer drinking hell raisers. But there’s a method to the madness. “We know who we are,” Villain explains. “We know what we’re like. We’re a powder keg. We like to have a good time & everything you’ve heard is probably true. But there’s more to us than just that.”

Sonically, their riffs are steeped in blues and punk, two more subjects near and dear to the band. “We take a huge influence from the blues and I’m talking about the Delta blues that’s not really heard by a lot of people. But we’ve also got a punk attitude about this whole thing. That’s the thing about great punk rock: You’re not trying to do anything. You’re not overthinking it. You’re just doing it. It was the same with the old Delta bluesmen. They had conviction. They really meant what they were doing and so do we. No matter what we do it’s at 11. We just wanna live hard. We just wanna live free.”

Ed Sheeran Unveils “X – Wembley Edition” 2-Disc Set And Film Out November 13

0

Atlantic recording artist Ed Sheeran has announced the release of “x – WEMBLEY EDITION,” a deluxe two-disc CD/DVD set of his album “x” (certified 4x platinum by Music Canada) paired with previously unreleased bonus tracks and the new full-length concert feature, Ed Sheeran: Jumpers for Goalposts. “x – WEMBLEY EDITION” arrives in stores as a two-disc CD/DVD on Friday, November 13th, with the expanded album and long form video each available individually via all leading digital retailers.

“x – WEMBLEY EDITION” is available for pre-order beginning today at Ed Sheeran’s official website – www.edsheeran.com – and all leading digital retailers. The new edition features a number of bonus tracks, with both physical and digital versions highlighted by three previous unreleased tracks that see Sheeran collaborating with such top studio hands as Emile Haynie (Eminem, Kanye West, Lana Del Rey), Jeff Bhasker (fun., Jay-Z), Johnny McDaid (Snow Patrol, Paul Van Dyk), and the legendary Rick Rubin (see attached tracklisting). As if that weren’t enough, “x – WEMBLEY EDITION” also features Sheeran’s new collaboration with Rudimental, “Lay It All On Me (Feat. Ed Sheeran),” which Ed unveiled last month with a tweet announcing it as “the final thing I’m releasing for a while.”

Sheeran’s second full length album, “x” (pronounced “multiply”), proved a global sensation upon its initial release, reaching #1 on album charts in 14 countries around the world before achieving platinum sales in 18 countries including his native United Kingdom, where it was the biggest selling album of 2014. With worldwide sales now exceeding 10 million, “x” is highlighted by its four consecutive, platinum singles: “Sing,” “Don’t,” “Photograph”, and, of course, “Thinking Out Loud,” Sheeran’s biggest overall hit to date.

Filmed earlier this year before almost a quarter million fans over three sold out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium, Ed Sheeran: Jumpers for Goalposts includes 90 minutes of never-before-seen concert footage, showcasing such classic hits as “Sing,” “The A Team,” and “Thinking Out Loud” (see attached credits). Directed by multiple GRAMMY® Award nominee Paul Dugdale (One Direction: Where We Are, Coldplay: Ghost Stories), the Warner Music/Screenlive Entertainment film is appended here with a number of exclusive extras, including Sheeran’s inimitable mash-up of his own “Take It Back” with Steve Wonder’s immortal “Superstition.” Ed Sheeran: Jumpers for Goalposts recently enjoyed a special, worldwide theatrical run, following an exclusive London premiere that featured “green” carpet arrivals and a live performance from Sheeran himself.

One of the planet’s most popular live performers, Sheeran has spent much of the past year on tour, including sold out headline shows, charity concerts, stadium dates – including Dallas’s Toyota Stadium and three sold out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium – and top-billed festival appearances. Sheeran recently culminated the North American “x tour” with a mega-finale at Foxboro, MA’s Gillette Stadium. Performing before a rapturous sold out crowd over 50,000 strong – Sheeran’s biggest US audience thus far – the British troubadour performed solo renditions of his numerous greatest hits, with special guest Chris Martin joining him for very special renditions of “Thinking Out Loud” and Coldplay’s “Yellow.” An additional series of stadium concerts are slated for Australia and New Zealand beginning in late November. For regular updates, please visit www.edsheeran.com/live.htm.

In other news, Sheeran will be among the superstars performing on A+E Networks and iHeartRadio’s “Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America,” slated to be filmed live at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday, November 18th and then broadcast on Friday, November 20th at 8PM ET/PT (check local listings). Produced by Ken Ehrlich Productions in conjunction with A+E Networks and iHeartRadio, the two-hour special event – which will also feature such iconic artists as Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Pink, Pharrell Williams, Zac Brown Band, Sia, Eric Church, Jamie Foxx, John Legend, and Miguel, with more to be announced – will air across the entire A+E Networks portfolio, including A&E, HISTORY, Lifetime, H2, LMN, and FYI, as well as the top 150 iHeartRadio music stations nationwide. “Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America” will kick off A+E Networks’ campaign to promote unity and progress on racial equity, inspired by the response of the Mother Emanuel family members in Charleston and others working for reconciliation and change around the country.

Named “Songwriter of the Year” at the 2015 Ivor Novello Awards, Sheeran was also among the superstars appearing at the 2015 Global Citizen Fest in New York City’s Central Park, performing both with Martin as well as the one and only Beyoncé, with whom he teamed up on an acoustic cover of “Drunk In Love.” Sheeran’s complete performance – including renditions of “Lego House,” “Sing,” and “Photograph” – can be viewed now at the official Global Citizen YouTube channel.

Sheeran is also among the top nominated artists for the 2015 American Music Awards. Earning 5 nominations in total, Sheeran is up for Song of the Year (“Thinking Out Loud”), Favorite Male Artist-Pop/Rock, Favorite Album-Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist-Adult Contemporary, and the night’s top prize, Artist of the Year.
