I mean this, my daughter, Hannah, is the biggest fan of Bolt. My wife and I went to every Disney store, often, to check for new Bolt merch, clothes, anything, when the movie first came out. Nothing. And who doesn’t love Bolt? He’s passionate, powerful and possessed of real star quality. Hannah has met her match when it comes to fandom, though, as this dog named Stryker pleasantly watches the film with glee.
Bill Murray on why he acts like a jerk sometimes
Iām just an obnoxious guy who can make it appear charming, thatās what they pay me to do.
– Bill Murray in October 1988
T.J. English was tasked with writing a profile of Bill Murray for Irish America magazine. This was around the time Scrooged came out. So he headed out to Murray’s house in New Jersey. The guys sat down and the tape recorder was turned on. Murray’s dog ran about and wrecked a little havoc.
Murray cracked wise on giving back to his mom when he made it big, hijinks on the set of Ghostbusters, the spiritual change that saved him from destruction, and how fame sort of helps with talking to women.
I act like a jerk sometimes, and thatās sort of what the product is. You get these people who act like, āwhat the hell.ā When you act obnoxious towards people, like on a movie set, they say āweāre ready for youā and I say āoh, go to hell, my feet hurt and my head aches.ā You want to have a margarita for lunch, and people like these little ADs and production assistants are like, āWell, heās drinking again.ā Drinking again? Go to hell. All I ever do is make some movies that made a lot of money now leave me alone, I want to have some fun. On Ghostbusters they had somebody following us. Following us. You walk down the street, you turn around and somebody would duck into a doorway. Just to control us and make sure we didnāt do anything too weird. Itās like, āWhat the hell.ā I didnāt get into this position by being like a stiff sitting on the set in a folding chair. I did it by walking around on the streets and stirring things up.
Record Companies And Pandora Reach Agreement On Pre-1972 Recordings
Pandora and a coalition of independent and major record companies announced that they have agreed to a $90 million settlement for Pandora’s use of recordings created before 1972.
The confidential settlement is between Pandora and ABKCO Music & Records, Capitol Records, Sony Music Entertainment, UMG Recordings and Warner Music Group. The settlement provides a nationwide resolution for Pandora’s use of the plaintiffs’ pre-1972 recordings.
“Pandora is excited to have found resolution with these record labels,” said Brian McAndrews, Chief Executive Officer at Pandora. “Together we share a common objective to grow the music industry and support artists. We pursued this settlement in order to move the conversation forward and continue to foster a better, collaborative relationship with the labels.”
“Major settlements with SiriusXM and now Pandora means that an iconic generation of artists and the labels that supported them will be paid for the use of their creative works,” said Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Chairman and CEO, Cary Sherman. “That is a significant milestone and a big win for the music community. We appreciate the collaborative and constructive approach of Pandora’s team in resolving this longstanding issue for artists and labels.”
Watch Michael Jackson Perform With James Brown
In August 1983, James Brown and band were playing the Beverly Theatre in Los Angeles with legendary blues man B.B. King for what was already a formidable pairing of music royalty. Then halfway through the set that evening James Brown introduced a very special guest to join him onstage – a 25-year-old Michael Jackson, hot on the heels of his Thriller album at the time, inconspicuously watching the show from the audience. Michael wowed the crowd with a spontaneous song and dance performance that was spectacular and all too brief.

eOne Music signs The Wild!
Canadian party animals, THE WILD! have signed a worldwide deal with eOne Music with plans to release an all new LP in 2016. “Me & the fellas are fuckin’ fired up about this deal man!,” says frontman Dylan Villain. “I know a lot of our fans in the U.S. & overseas have been waiting to get their hands on this record. We’re stoked to say the day is here. Go grab that shit & turn it up!”
The band is re-releasing their EP GxDxWxB today in the U.S. along with a music video for their hit single “Roadhouse” exclusively via New Noise Magazine, directed by Vancouver hip-hop music video director Stuey Kubrick. The LP was expertly produced by Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, Jimmy Page, Dave Grohl, Van Halen) at the legendary Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC with additional production completed at the cityās Armoury Studios. Boozus, their bassist weighs in as well, “We’re big fans of eOne’s roster. We feel we have a great team behind us. We couldn’t be more stoked to get this record out & get on the road in the USA. Shine up your party boots – We’re comin’!”
The band is hitting the road next week with BUCKCHERRY for a string of dates throughout Canada. On October 26 the band will hit The Oak in Winnipeg before stretching all the way to Vancouver for a set at The Commodore just about a month later.
Make no mistake. Villain and partners in crime, burly bearded singer-bassist Boozus, chrome-domed drummer Reese Lightning and recently recruited rhythm guitarist Pistol Pete, come by that sound and that rep honestly. The band hails from the wilds of Kelowna, B.C., where they grew up like every other rural teenager. āWe were riding around in crappy vehicles down dirt roads, listening to old rock’n’roll, punk rock & metal records going to bush parties, hunting and fishing,ā Villain says. The latter was earned over the course of a decade together in the rock ānā roll trenches, honing their notoriously over-the-top live show in every warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse that would have them.
Now theyāre a thicker than water. Theyāve been through the fire. And they bring it with them every time they step on the stage. āItās definitely about that fire,ā stresses Villain. āSure, youāve gotta play well. But thereās something more than just hitting the right notes and playing everything perfect. Youāve gotta give it everything every night. You have to put your foot to the floor and never stop, red line that the whole goddamn way.ā You might think these guys are nothing but redneck beer drinking hell raisers. But thereās a method to the madness. āWe know who we are,ā Villain explains. āWe know what we’re like. Weāre a powder keg. We like to have a good time & everything youāve heard is probably true. But thereās more to us than just that.ā
Sonically, their riffs are steeped in blues and punk, two more subjects near and dear to the band. āWe take a huge influence from the blues and Iām talking about the Delta blues thatās not really heard by a lot of people. But weāve also got a punk attitude about this whole thing. Thatās the thing about great punk rock: Youāre not trying to do anything. Youāre not overthinking it. Youāre just doing it. It was the same with the old Delta bluesmen. They had conviction. They really meant what they were doing and so do we. No matter what we do itās at 11. We just wanna live hard. We just wanna live free.ā
