Country Artist JD Shelburne Makes Emotional Grand Ole Opry Debut with Heartfelt Hits

Country Trailblazer JD Shelburne won the hearts of many new fans on Saturday, July 5th, as he stepped onto the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. With heartfelt gratitude to fans and unwavering faith, JD Shelburne fulfilled a lifelong dream of performing on the infamous circle on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

Opening with “Summertime All Year,” a sunny preview of what’s to come on his anticipated September 2025 release of his new album Raised on the Good Stuff. He wrapped the set with the heartfelt hit “Church Pew Bar Stool,” a chart-topper on CMT and viral favorite with more than 100K views. Shelburne had the crowd singing along from the first note.

The evening was filled with standout moments for JD Shelburne, who was met with an outpouring of support from fans. While the exact number is unknown, the energy in the room and the flood of social media posts mentioning his name made it clear how much his music resonated, including a social post from the Opry with his name in it! A true highlight of the night came as Shelburne had the chance to connect with country legends Steve Wariner, John Conlee, and Crystal Gayle before and after his performance. Their kindness and encouragement-telling him he belonged on that stage-made a lasting impression and added a deeply personal and meaningful touch to an already unforgettable experience.

JD Shelburne shared his recollection of the night, stating,” Everything about being on the Opry was spectacular. I made my Grand Ole Opry debut in front of my peers, family, and so many of my fans! It will be a moment that will be forever etched in my memory. I can only hope to do this more than once for the rest of my life. Award-Winning Children’s Book “Vincent: Starry Starry Night” Celebrates Don McLean’s Legacy Through Art and Empathy

 The Independent Book Publisher’s Association has awarded the Don McLean inspired children’s book Vincent: Starry Starry Night a silver award for children’s / young adult cover design.

Authored by Judith A. Proffer and illustrated by Yoko Matsuoka with a foreword by Don McLean, Vincent is a lushly illustrated and emotionally poignant introduction to the life and art of Vincent van Gogh. Through themes of creativity, empathy, and emotional resilience, the book has captivated readers across generations, reinforcing Meteor 17 Books’ mission to publish meaningful, multi-generational stories.

 GRAMMY-nominated country artist David Nail is set to release his reflective new single “Hotel Keys” on July 11, with a nationwide “Hotel Keys Tour” launching the day before and continuing into the Fall.

Rooted in reflection and longing, “Hotel Keys” captures the emotional cost of chasing a dream-the moments we take for granted, and the toll life on the road can take. Cleveland Public Library and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are teaming up for a special event featuring iconic rock duo Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Join us for A Conversation with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on Wednesday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Libraryā€™s Martin Luther King Jr. Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Moderated by the Rock Hallā€™s Vice President of Education and Visitor Engagement, Jason Hanley, this intimate conversation will explore Benatar and Giraldoā€™s new childrenā€™s book, My Grandma and Grandpa Rock, and the inspiration behind their journey as artists, partners, and grandparents. This Sunday July 13,  listen live as Philadelphia-based AAA public radio station, WXPN commemorates the 40th anniversary of the transcontinental Live Aid concerts by playing performances from the day when the power of music unified the world from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.  WXPN will play back highlights and sets of music in chronological order matching the event that changed pop forever. David Bowie Legacy Continues With New Rock Box Set ā€˜I Canā€™t Give Everything Away (2002ā€“2016)ā€™

Parlophone Records proudly announce DAVID BOWIE 6. I CANā€™T GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY (2002 ā€“ 2016), the sixth in a series of box sets spanning Bowieā€™s career from 1969.

The new set is the latest instalment in the award-winning and critically acclaimed series that includes DAVID BOWIE 1. FIVE YEARS (1969 ā€“ 1973), DAVID BOWIE 2. WHO CAN I BE NOW? (1974 ā€“ 1976), DAVID BOWIE 3. A NEW CAREER IN A NEW TOWN (1977 ā€“ 1982), DAVID BOWIE 4. LOVING THE ALIEN (1983-1988) and DAVID BOWIE 5. BRILLIANT ADVENTURE (1992-2001) and will be released on 12th September.

DAVID BOWIE 6. I CANā€™T GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY (2002 ā€“ 2016) is a twelve-CD, eighteen-piece vinyl and standard digital download/streaming box set named after the closing track on (BLACKSTAR), Bowieā€™s final studio album. The box sets include newly remastered versions (except and No Plan), with input from Davidā€™s co-producer Tony Visconti.

2002ā€™s HEATHEN was the first album Bowie and Visconti had worked on together in twenty-two years. Recorded in a residential studio in upstate New York, it reminded Visconti of his time with David in Berlin in the 1970s, ā€œThere was no control room. The console was at one end of the studio and the band was placed at the other end. The acoustics were quite live and from my experience of making ā€œHeroesā€ at Hansa Studios in Berlin, in the huge Grand Hall (known as Meistersaal recording hall), I wanted to make these acoustics work for us.ā€ For the follow-up REALITY, released in 2003, Visconti recalls, ā€œDavid said he wanted to write for his new touring band, who would also record the albumā€, giving the record a more ā€œThrustyā€ sound as Bowie put it at the time. That band then took to the road for A REALITY TOUR, one of the best-loved tours of Davidā€™s career, it is represented here for the first time in its re-sequenced order to better reflect the set lists of the Dublin shows. The vinyl version of the album is pressed in transparent blue, echoing its initial release.

After a decade away from the studio, the sessions for THE NEXT DAY happened in secret; Visconti says of that time, ā€œWe vowed not to tell a soul that David and we were making a new album ā€“ and that even included our domestic partners. His two-fold purpose was to write and create without pressure from the outside, plus he wanted its release to be a complete surprise. It all worked out great, except when he was spotted a few times walking to and from The Magic Shop studio in Noho, Manhattan, raising quizzical eyebrows. I was stopped once by a fan who recognised me and asked, ā€œIs David Bowie making a new album?ā€ I said, ā€œAbsolutely not!ā€ Later, when we had rough mixes of our efforts, I was walking around Manhattan with a big smile on my face. No one could possibly know that I was listening to new Bowie songs on my earbuds.ā€ Those sessions produced so many songs that those additional tracks along with two remixes were included on THE NEXT DAY EXTRA. 

(BLACKSTAR), Davidā€™s final studio album, was released on 8th January, 2016. Bowie and Visconti went to Donny McCaslinā€™s jazz quartet playing live in New York after working with him on the track ā€˜Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)ā€™. Tony Visconti: ā€œDonnyā€™s quartet was no ordinary jazz band, they were super musicians at the same level as classical musicians in top symphony orchestras. David told me that this band, with Mark Guiliana ā€“ drums, Tim Lefebvre ā€“ bass, and Jason Lindner ā€“ keyboards, will be the band for the recording of .ā€ Every one of the tracks for (BLACKSTAR) were each recorded in one day; Visconti recalls, ā€œThe first song for the album began with ā€œā€™Tis a Pity She Was a Whore,ā€ on 7th January. With a couple of rehearsals with David singing in the isolation booth, we were ready to go. Take one was perfect. We told Donny the take was fabulous. He thanked us and asked, ā€œWhatā€™s the next song?ā€ I forgot that jazz musicians are one-take experts. This was not a normal thing for people who make Rock and Pop music. It usually takes many hours to get that great take. Just to play it safe we asked for another take and Donny complied.ā€ 

On Bowieā€™s birthday in 2017, the NO PLAN EP brought together the original songs written for Bowie’s Off-Broadway play, LAZARUS, including the titular ā€˜Lazarusā€™, ā€˜No Planā€™, ā€˜Killing A Little Timeā€™, and ā€˜When I Met Youā€™, all recorded during the sessions for (BLACKSTAR).

Exclusive to each of the box sets are MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL and RE:CALL 6. The former was recorded on the 18th of July 2002 at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival and among the 31 tracks features a full performance bar one song of one of Bowieā€™s most revered albums, LOW. RE:CALL 6 features 41 non-album / alternative versions / b-sides and soundtrack songs, including tracks never previously available on CD or vinyl over 3CDs and 4LPs. 

The physical box sets accompanying book, 128 pages in the CD box and 84 in the vinyl set, feature previously unseen notes, drawings and handwritten lyrics from Bowie and photos by Sukita (who took the setā€™s cover shot), Jimmy King, Frank W. Ockenfels 3, Markus Klinko, Mark ā€˜Blammoā€™ Adams and more as well as memorabilia, technical notes about the albums from co-producer Tony Visconti and design notes from Jonathan Barnbrook.

The CD box set will include faithfully reproduced mini-vinyl versions of the original albums where applicable, and the CDs will be gold-coloured rather than the usual silver. The vinyl box set has the same content as the CD set and is pressed on audiophile quality 180g vinyl.

Kathleen Edwards Announces Fall Americana Tour in Support of ā€˜Billionaireā€™

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and performer Kathleen Edwards will continue her headline tour through the fall with newly confirmed stops at Bostonā€™s Brighton Music Hall, Chicagoā€™s Lincoln Hall, Ottawaā€™s Bronson Centre, Minneapolisā€™ Fine Line, Lexingtonā€™s The Burl, St. Louisā€™ Off Broadway, and Milwaukeeā€™s Vivarium, among others. The tour celebrates Edwardsā€™ highly anticipated new album, Billionaireā€”out August 22 on Dualtone Records (pre-order). Produced by Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson, the new 10-song project recalls the lyrical sharpness and unflinching candor of Edwardsā€™ acclaimed debut, Failer. Ahead of the release, Edwards has shared three songs: ā€œSay Goodbye, Tell No One,ā€ ā€œPine,ā€ and ā€œSave Your Soul,ā€ which is currently Top 10 and rising on the Americana radio chart and is poised to debut on the Triple A chart as well.

In addition to Edwards (vocals, acoustic guitar), Isbell (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keys, synth, background vocals), and Johnson (engineer, piano, background vocals), the album includes Anna Butterss (bass), Annie Clements (bass), Chad Gamble (drums and percussion), Jen Gunderman (piano, celeste, Hammond B-3 organ, Wurlitzer), and Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer (background vocals).

Of the album, Edwards shares, ā€œI decided to call the record Billionaire because the word is used in such a caustic way these days. But we should all want to be billionaires in lifeā€”to be rich in experience, friendship, purpose, and the pursuit of the things that bring us joy.ā€

Of working with Edwards, Johnson shares, ā€œKathleen is as funny as she is deep. She loves to rock, have fun, and nerd out on guitar tones, which both Jason and I love to do as well. It was important to us to make sure we were featuring all the sides of her in the production of this album, from tracking to final mix. She totally thrived on the energy of the full band when we were in the studio and was also open to an idea I had for the song ā€˜Little Pink Door.ā€™ That song ended up being a live one-take performance of Kathleen singing while playing acoustic guitar, accompanied by Jason on electric guitar and Jen Gunderman on piano. Both Jason and Jen were right there with her every single breath, only playing when it felt right. I remember when the take finished, Jason said he wouldnā€™t change a thing about it, and I couldnā€™t have agreed more. Itā€™s in those moments when you know that something truly special is being made. I am so looking forward to attending a live show and experiencing both the energy and intimacy these songs and stories will bring to the audience.ā€

Celebrated as one of the forebears of modern alt-country and Americana music, Edwards is beloved by fans and fellow musicians and praised by The New York Times for her ā€œdroll, observant, and unsparing tone that is all her own. In her best lines, Edwards has the conversational vernacular and emotional eloquence of a great short-story writer.ā€

Since debuting in 2003, Edwards has released five albums, including 2020ā€™s Total Freedomā€”her first after stepping away from music for almost a decade. Released to overwhelming acclaim, with pieces in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and more, Pitchfork called it ā€œa creative breakthrough, written solely for the thrill of discovery,ā€ while Rolling Stone declared it ā€œdevastatingly great.ā€ Most recently, Edwards released a covers EP featuring special guests Isbell, Bahamas, and Daniel Tashian and including renditions of Isbellā€™s ā€œTraveling Alone,ā€ Bruce Springsteenā€™s ā€œHuman Touch,ā€ The Flaming Lipsā€™ ā€œFeeling Yourself Disintegrate,ā€ Tom Pettyā€™s ā€œCrawling Back to You,ā€ and more. She has been nominated for multiple JUNO and Americana Awards and, in 2012, was awarded the SOCAN Songwriting Prize.

This year marks a major milestone forĀ Gibson: 50 years of handcrafting guitars in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee. To honor this journey, Gibson introduces the Les Paul Music City Special ā€“ 50th Anniversary, a modern tribute to the creativity, heritage, and player passion that defines Music City. Available now atĀ Gibson.comĀ and Gibson Garage locations, this limited-edition model is capped at just 650 guitars per finish, worldwide.

Rooted in the design DNA of the iconic 1970s Gibson Marauderā€”played by legends like Adam Jones (TOOL) and Paul Stanley (KISS)ā€”the Music City Special blends vintage character with modern sensibility. Itā€™s a nod to the past and a tool for the present, designed for players who want tone, versatility, and history, in one inspiring package.

On December 30 and 31, 2025, the landmark event takes over Dallas Market Hall once again for two unforgettable nights of euphoric sound and futuristic spectacle, ushering in 2026 with the largest edition of the festival to date.

From pulse-raising bass to hypnotic four-on-the-floor, this yearā€™s lineup brings serious heat to The Metroplex, Disco Rodeo, and The Lonestarā€”three immersive stages at the heart of a cyber-futurist dream. Marking LANā€™s crystal anniversary, the venue transforms into a high-voltage playground where mirrored surfaces, neon geometries, and synesthetic visuals evoke a shimmering city of the future.

This is the soundtrack to your final dance of 2025ā€”and your first of 2026! 

Artists are dialed in to deliver a proper two-night sendoff, with GRiZ headlining in a rare return to the stage, unleashing his signature blend of sax-laced future-funk, electro-soul, and bassā€”pure fireworks for your final dance of 2025. Illenium brings an emotional firestorm of melodic bass and cinematic builds that feel like a collective exhale. Porter Robinson (DJ Set) offers a rare and intimate journey through the sounds that shaped his own evolutionā€”a blend of nostalgia and discovery, perfect for a New Yearā€™s reset.
