Grassfire Festival Returns With Bluegrass Legends, Fireworks, and Cliff-Side Adventure

With just weeks to go until the Fourth Annual Grassfire Festival roars to life at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, fans of acoustic music and outdoor adventure are gearing up for four days of top-flight bluegrass, family fun and cliff-side thrills. From July 3 through July 6, the rugged beauty of Ohio’s most iconic swimming quarry will host an all-star roster of jam-grass legends, rising talents, and hands-on workshops—plus the biggest fireworks finale this side of the Appalachian Trail.

Headlining two sets as the festival’s marquee act is Greensky Bluegrass, fresh off a string of sold-out shows and acclaimed new recordings. They’ll be joined by Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, whose lightning-fast fiddle and banjo interplay has redefined modern string music; the venerable Del McCoury Band, torchbearers of bluegrass for more than five decades; and The Infamous Stringdusters, renowned for their virtuosic improvisation. Railroad Earth will bring their signature blend of Americana, folk and rock, while Peter Rowan & Sam Grisman Project celebrates the genre’s roots alongside David Grisman’s protégé.

Each day offers something special: World-champion fiddler Michael Cleveland will dazzle with jaw-dropping bow work, The SteelDrivers will trade soulful grit for every note, and Yonder Mountain String Band will keep feet stomping well past dusk. Steep Canyon Rangers anchor the lineup with their Grammy-winning harmony craft, while the Kyle Tuttle Band and David Mayfield Parade showcase up-and-coming voices in the acoustic scene. Rumpke Mountain Boys round out the headliners with two high-energy sets, ensuring there’s never a dull moment on stage.

Beyond the main stage, Grassfire Festival invites attendees to dig deeper into their craft through bluegrass workshops, kids’ music activities and an exclusive performance by EN Fuego fire dancers. Families can browse artisan vendors among the towering pines, cool off at the quarry beach, or test their nerve at the cliff-dive platform and snorkeling zones. Each evening culminates in a dramatic fireworks and fire-show spectacular by Phoenix Pyrotechnics—an electrifying salute to Independence Day.

Today, Airbnb announces its first global live music partnership, offering one-of-a-kind fan experiences at Lollapalooza festivals in Berlin, Chicago, São Paulo, and Mumbai. Guests will now have access to curated Airbnb Experiences — many hosted by performing artists — that bring them closer to the music they love.

This summer, guests can book daily Airbnb Experiences at several Lollapalooza festivals — plus access an exclusive onsite Airbnb lounge. Experiences range from concert photography tutorials with professional photographers and behind-the-scenes tours with festival directors to intimate artist performances and more.

Kali Uchis Announces The Sincerely, Arena Tour Kicking Off August 14
  • GRAMMY-winning global recording artist Kali Uchis has announced her much-anticipated Kali Uchis – The Sincerely, Tour—a 24-city North American headline arena run supporting her fifth studio album Sincerely, which released just last week via Capitol Records – stream HERE. Promoted by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on August 14 in Portland, OR, at Moda Center. It will make stops in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Toronto, and Chicago among others before wrapping up on September 25 at Ball Arena in Denver, CO.
  • The tour arrives on the heels of Uchis’ fifth studio album, Sincerely, released just last week amidst widespread anticipation. Her most intimate and vulnerable body of work to date, the 14-track record is a testament to the curative power of deep love, and a powerful representation of the way Uchis romanticizes life and her inner world. Written and executive produced by Uchis, Sincerely, finds the genre-traversing star feeling more herself than ever. The project arrived alongside an official music video for standout track “All I Can Say”, a cinematic performance piece directed by Bethany Vargas, inspired by classic film noir and the 1950’s showcasing Kali Uchis transformed into a timeless on-screen siren.
  • Next, she will return to North America for a headlining arena run kicking off on August 14 in Portland, OR. Through late summer and early fall she will make stops across the country playing some of her largest venues to date including The Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City. Russell Dickerson Announces Fourth Album ‘FAMOUS BACK HOME’ Out August 22

Multi-Platinum artist Russell Dickerson announced his highly anticipated fourth studio album, FAMOUS BACK HOME, set for release on Aug. 22 (via Triple Tigers). The 12-track collection features 10 songs co-written by Dickerson, along with the first two outside cuts of his career.

Co-produced by Dickerson and longtime collaborator Josh Kerr, plus Casey Brown and Chris LaCorte on select songs, the album captures Dickerson’s fearless evolution as both an artist and a storyteller, showcasing his genre-defying creativity and emotional depth. Beyond his chart-topping success, the project reflects who he is at his core: a hitmaker, husband, father, and proud hometown hero. With this album, Dickerson proves he’s not just famous on stage-but Famous Back Home, too.

“Growing up in a small town, I had this idea ‘I’m going to make it out of here. I’m going to make it big. Everybody is going to know my name,'” said Dickerson. “But then you have a family and it’s like, ‘Actually, all I want to do is be famous at home.’ The further down this road I get, the more I realize the only thing that matters is my family.”

The album features standouts like “Dust,” a nod to David Lee Murphy’s “Dust on the Bottle,” and “Heard It In A Country Song,” which salutes some of country’s most iconic lyrics with ’90s-inspired hooks and Dickerson’s signature roots-R&B groove. Vince Gill lends his vocals to “Never Leave,” a stripped-down plea for redemption, while “Sippin On Top of the World” delivers a stadium-ready anthem-both marking the first outside cuts of Dickerson’s career. Up-tempo highlights like “Worth Your Wild” and “Sunrise in My Silverado” bring fresh energy, fusing ’80s pop influences with golden-hour charm. Still, Dickerson keeps his heart front and center. “For A Truck” and “Love That I Love You” explore love, loss, and longing, while “16 Me” reflects on growing up and looking back. Already released, the Top 40 track “Bones” pays tribute to lasting, unconditional love. “Happen To Me” marked the biggest streaming debut of Dickerson’s career, and the title track “Famous Back Home” brings the album full circle with a deeply personal finish.

“I’m so pumped on this one. It’s just song by song,” Dickerson says. “To go from ‘Yours’ to where we are now, it’s opened up a whole new facet of me and my personality. What you get on stage is so connected to these songs – it finally caught up to my personality, who I am.”

After bursting onto the scene, the Tennessee native quickly stood out by releasing four consecutive career-launching singles that each reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Since then, Dickerson has earned platinum or multi-platinum status on hits like “Yours” (3X Platinum), “Blue Tacoma” (2X Platinum), “Love You Like I Used To” (2X Platinum), “Every Little Thing” (Platinum) and “She Likes It” ft. Jake Scott (2X Platinum).

In 2023, he scored his fifth No. 1 hit with “God Gave Me A Girl,” followed by the release of “Good Day to Have a Great Day,” “Bones” and his latest single “Happen To Me” which marked the biggest debut of his career, notching over 9 million global streams in the first week.

Grateful Shred Releases ‘Might As Well,’ Reimagining Unrecorded Grateful Dead Songs with Indie-Americana Flair

Defying conventional tribute-band boundaries, Grateful Shred delivers their first studio statement, Might As Well, out today via their Liberty Hair Farm Records imprint. The album resurrects eight Grateful Dead compositions that never received formal studio treatments, reengineering them through Shred’s lens of sun-bleached harmonies and freewheeling improvisation. Featuring vocals from acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Mikaela Davis, the project transforms archival blueprints into an indie-Americana odyssey.

The swampy strut of “Sweet Baby”—a Donna Jean Godchaux-penned rarity once relegated to mid-’70s Dead setlists—anchors the album with visceral immediacy. Mikaela Davis’ lead vocals smolder over a buoyant groove, while the band locks into a sweat-soaked Southern rock swing. 

Elsewhere, the album’s revelatory take on “Jack Straw” emerges as a standout moment, blending crisp vocal harmonies with the band’s signature loose-tight chemistry. Opening with a breezy, American Beauty-era shuffle, the track builds into a whirlwind of symbiotic groove, with guitarists Austin McCutchen and John Lee Shannon delivering a masterclass in controlled chaos, capturing Shred’s lightning-in-a-bottle musicianship.

The project, spearheaded by bassist/producer Dan Horne, was recorded at Glendale’s UHF Studio. Unfurling like a kaleidoscope of reimagined Dead lore, each additional track honors the Grateful Dead’s artistry while injecting Shred’s DNA– telepathic cohesion, pedal steel sheen, and an ironclad swinging rhythm section. “Sitting In Limbo” drips with dubby basslines and hazy organ textures, while “Jack A Roe” leans into ragged cowboy-ballad authenticity. “Cassidy” becomes a jangly, harmony-drenched anthem, and “Lazy River Road” floats on Laurel Canyon-inspired vocal layers. 

The release ignites the next leg of Grateful Shred’s Spring/Summer 2025 Tour, featuring this weekend’s two night album launch at San Francisco’s The Independent (June 6 + 7) and a homecoming finale at LA’s Fonda Theatre (June 13). Limited tickets remain at gratefulshredmusic.com.
