Jonathan Buchanan Wins 2025 ASCAP Screen Award for Hit History Channel Themes

0

omposer and long-time West One Music Group collaborator Jonathan Buchanan has received a 2025 ASCAP Screen Award for his incredible work in television theme tune composition.

Buchanan, who first began working with West One Music in 2012, has received an ASCAP Screen Music Awards in the Best Themes to Top Rated Television Series category for his work on two History Channel shows: Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters and Lost U-Boats of WWII.

“Jonathan is an expert in crafting hybrid scores that combine orchestra with unique and signature sounds,” says Chris Brown, Vice President of Production, North America at West One Music. “He was a natural choice for scoring these great History Channel shows.”

UK-based Buchanan has composed for a huge amount of television on both sides of the pond and has forged a close relationship with A&E Television Networks. His work on Bermuda Triangle and Lost U-Boats highlights his ability to compose compelling music cues that captivate viewers and bring them along on an investigative journey.

“For Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters, we worked closely with the music team at the network and production company Lone Wolf to create a signature theme that captured the essence of the show,” says Brown. “A lot of the show is set underwater, with exciting discoveries of old shipwrecks and relics, and we wanted to add some extra grit and unique synth sounds to give the narrative a modern and edgy feel.”

Buchanan, who is equally at home writing orchestral scores as he is programming synths, leaned on his expertise in writing music to picture to help bring these stories of search and discovery to the screen.

“Writing the music for Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters was a joy, and working again with director Joseph SousaJennifer Insogna and the passionate team at A&E was truly special,” says Buchanan. “Chris and the entire custom team at West One Music are absolutely brilliant; they’re always so supportive and help facilitate a nurturing creative environment.”

Blake Shelton Returns With ‘For Recreational Use Only,’ His First Album in Four Years

0

Hot off his 30th career No. 1 with the twangy, swagger-packed “Texas,” Blake Shelton drops his new album For Recreational Use Only – a 12-track dose of country grit, charm, and heart available now via BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records.

“I can’t believe it’s been four years since we released an album, and I’m excited to get the whole record out there,” said Shelton. “I’ve always been someone who wants to collect great songs but sometimes the hardest thing to do is to find something that hasn’t been said or written before or a melody that we haven’t heard. I’m always on the search for that. I look back over the years, and I’m just proud because some of those songs don’t sound like anything else. And I think we did it again with this album.”

To celebrate the release, Shelton performed “Texas” on the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards and he will take over national television next week. On Tuesday, May 13, he’ll perform live from the Today Show Summer Concert Series stage at Rockefeller Plaza before stopping by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later that night. He’ll close out the week on Friday, May 16, with a reunion on The Kelly Clarkson Show, joining his former Voice rival and longtime friend.

One of the most personal cuts on the record is “The Keys,” a melodic slow-burn co-written by HARDY that Shelton says hit him straight in the gut. “You know, I’m not the kind of guy who hangs on to a lot of stuff, but I’ve got this weird habit-I don’t throw away old keys,” Shelton explains. “Apartment keys, truck keys, padlock keys-I keep them all. So this song really got to me. The story, the melody, the way it wraps up at the end… I couldn’t shake it.”

HARDY, who also co-wrote the already released fan-favorite “Let Him In Anyway,” sent Shelton the demo with him specifically in mind. “This one’s more in my lane than his,” Shelton says. “It’s got the feel of those mellow, romantic tracks I’ve done through the years-like ‘Drink On It.’ Songs like this are why I still love making records.”

For Recreational Use Only marks Shelton’s first studio album in four years and his debut on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. With guests including Gwen Stefani, John Anderson, and Craig Morgan, the project is a rowdy, reflective ride through heartbreak, backroads, and the kind of Southern wisdom you only learn the hard way. It’s Shelton at his most grounded-and most freewheeling.

Thomas Rhett Adds Three New Summer Tracks to ‘About a Woman,’ Featuring Tucker Wetmore

0

Multi-Platinum country star Thomas Rhett is kicking off a summer of music by adding three fresh tracks to his acclaimed seventh album and “best work yet” (Country Living) ABOUT A WOMAN. Steeped in the same awestruck magic-but with even more fleet-footed feel-good energy-the master entertainer matches charisma and craftsmanship in equal measure.

On the slow-grooving summertime strut “Small Town Girls” featuring tourmate Tucker Wetmore, the plucky roots-R&B sway of “I’m That Guy,” and the thumping beats of the steel-and-synth disco daydream, “Dance With You,” Thomas Rhett continues to practice mood-boosting sonic abandon, giving passion a new soundtrack. Fans can listen to all three songs as a part of ABOUT A WOMAN (FROM A SMALL TOWN) and can expect more new music to be released in the coming months.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to continuously put music out,” explained Thomas Rhett. “When we were deciding what to include on ABOUT A WOMAN last year, I had about 30 songs we were picking between. We landed on the 14 that came out in August knowing we could keep releasing more of the others. These three are feel good summer songs that the band and I have already started rehearsing for tour, and to sing ‘Small Town Girls’ with Tucker every night is going to be a blast. I’m looking forward to putting out more throughout the summer!”

Morgan Wallen Previews New Album ‘I’m The Problem’ With Emotional Track “Superman” for His Son

0

With one week remaining until the release of his full-length, fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, Morgan Wallen is offering fans one final taste of the upcoming project with the release of the highly-anticipated song dedicated to his son, “Superman,” available now.

Wallen originally teased the up-tempo ballad, which he co-wrote alongside Ryan Vojtesak, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass and James Maddocks, on Instagram in February. The clip instantly drew excitement from fans, with Billboard praising its “self-aware lyrics.”

Wallen opened up about the song on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend stating, “I’ve tried so many times to write a song like that for him, and it always fell flat. I also didn’t want to write a song to him that was all sappy and slow, and just what you would expect a dad’s son song to be. That song has been written plenty enough and I wanted it to keep a little bit of my sound and my swag and just to be honest. And I feel like we accomplished that when we wrote it.”

I’m The Problem combines Wallen’s country, cross and dirt-rock influences, and features collaborations with pop superstars Post Malone and Tate McRae, plus close friends Eric Church, ERNEST and HARDY.

The album opens with the title track, “I’m The Problem,” a cutting double-edged confession that reveals the complexities of a relationship at its lowest point. It concludes with “I’m A Little Crazy,” a quiet, self-reflective song that looks inward while examining the world outside. Between all of that, Wallen displays his ability to reach listeners on a granular level.

While Wallen co-wrote 22 of the tracks on the album, he tapped into 49 songwriters, curating a tracklist that’s both deeply personal and resonant, while viewing life events through a different lens than he’s used in the past.

I’m The Problem on vinyl & CD will be available for purchase on MorganWallen.com. Additionally, a special collector’s edition vinyl featuring a collectable hunting ID and CD with a collectable fishing ID will be available only at Target. Pre-order now.

The upcoming project sparked Wallen’s 2025 I’m The Problem Tour. Kicking off June 20 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, Wallen’s 20-show run will include stops in Seattle, Washington; Foxborough, Massachusetts; Toronto, Ontario and more. With a second stop recently added in Madison, Wisconsin, Wallen’s appearances will mark the first time an artist has played two consecutive nights at Camp Randall Stadium.

A rotating lineup of guests including Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel join in direct support with Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson as first-of-three across select dates. Coupled with Wallen’s Sand In My Boots Festival and a special one-night-only album release celebration show May 28 at Roundhouse in London, these 22 shows are the only place to see the superstar in 2025.

Dan Wilson Explores LA Streets and Psychedelic Mushrooms on New Instrumental Album ‘Good Night, Los Angeles’

0

GRAMMY-winning musician, songwriter, and producer Dan Wilson released his new album good night, los angeles, his debut instrumental album born out of a regular series of Sunday evening recordings he would post to social media. The album’s 18 solo piano instrumentals feature titles taken from street names in his adopted home city of Los Angeles, CA.

Along with the album, Wilson released a full album visualizer by art director Yazz Alali and illustrator/animator Sarah Nelson, who paired the music with hypnotic animations of mushrooms growing and interacting, their mycelium spreading out through the soil and entangling together to create increasingly complex neural networks.

“These tracks are all named after streets that are important to me in LA,” explains Wilson. “Each of them has a video attached to it that depicts a native Californian mushroom species in its natural (or psychedelic) habitat. The videos are by Sarah Nelson, who is a scientific illustrator by day. But by night, apparently she paints freaky pictures of psychedelic mushrooms.”

This week, Wilson spoke with SPIN Magazine about the songs that inspire his work as a GRAMMY-winning songwriter and his new record, which they called “an album that captures the quietude of Wilson’s Sunday nights and makes it transportable.” Wilson also spoke with Bobby Bones on the BOBBYCAST who called him “one of the best songwriters of this generation.”

Recorded entirely on a 1918 Vose & Sons upright piano that was found on the streets of Hollywood, the record marks Wilson’s first instrumental release and offers a rare glimpse into the award-winning songwriter’s raw, unvarnished creative process.

An instrumental piano album may seem like an unlikely project for an artist so known for his way with words, who last year alone received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song (“It Never Went Away”), won his first CMA Award for Song of the Year (“White Horse”) and took home the GRAMMY for Country Song of the Year (“White Horse). But in the end, the result is classic Wilson: an evocative work of deep emotion and thoughtful beauty, one crafted purely for the love of the creation and shared in the hopes of forging meaningful connection.

“Lyrics are always the greatest challenge for me as a writer, so to devote a whole project to instrumental pieces was really liberating,” Wilson explains. “It also allowed me to tap into the kind of wistful, early 20th century piano music that I’ve always loved but never really had the room to explore in my own work.”

Steve Albini’s Closet Opens: Thousands of Rare Items from a Sonic Pioneer Now Up for Sale

0

For decades, Steve Albini made noise — unforgettable, uncompromising, and deeply influential noise. Whether he was fronting Shellac or Big Black, or behind the boards shaping iconic records like Nirvana’s In Utero, PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me, or the Pixies’ Surfer Rosa, Albini didn’t just record music — he reshaped its possibilities. Now, a year after his sudden passing in May 2024 at age 61, fans have a rare chance to bring home a piece of his world.

A new website, Steve Albini’s Closet, launched in May 2025, is offering a curated treasure trove of Albini’s personal collection. Administered by music writer and former Forced Exposure editor Byron Coley, the sale features everything from books, tapes, singles, and LPs to zines, shirts, posters, original art, and curious oddities labeled “enthusiasms” and “mysterious bargains.” Each item comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Coley himself.

No algorithm. No theme. No grand design. Just an ever-unfolding, weekly stream of weird, wild, and wonderfully obscure stuff — straight from the home of a fiercely independent music legend. Around 100 to 200 new items will be added to the site every Friday for the next year, with proceeds supporting Albini’s estate.

There are roughly 4,000 items waiting their turn, sitting quietly in stacks and corners — much like Albini’s own approach to fame. This is a slow-motion unveiling of a mind that collected not for clout, but out of passion. Passion for sound, for scenes, for the overlooked and the undervalued.

Albini preferred the term engineer over producer. He didn’t believe in polish for polish’s sake. He believed in authenticity, ethics, and helping artists make the record they wanted to make. That same spirit runs through this project: raw, real, and reverent. For fans, collectors, and musicians alike, Steve Albini’s Closet isn’t just a merch table — it’s a time capsule from one of music’s most principled and fascinating figures.

MoonX: BYDFi’s On-Chain Trading Engine — A Ticket from CEX to DEX

0

By Mitch Rice

As centralized exchanges and On-chain Trading edge closer to integration, global crypto trading platform BYDFi has officially launched MoonX, a powerful new on-chain trading engine. Positioned as a “ticket to the DEX world” for CEX users, MoonX simplifies DeFi access and marks the beginning of BYDFi’s dual-engine strategy.

CEX vs. DEX: From Competition to Integration

With meme coins, airdrops, and early-stage tokens gaining traction, on-chain markets have become a high-growth arena for crypto users. But wallet setup, gas fees, and cross-chain operations remain hurdles for mainstream CEX users.

At the same time, CEXs are increasingly limited in capturing early-stage or long-tail assets. The industry is clearly shifting: CEXs and DEXs are no longer separate silos—they are becoming complementary systems. MoonX is BYDFi’s answer to this evolution.

MoonX: The Gateway to On-Chain Trading

MoonX isn’t another exchange or wallet; it’s a lightweight entry point to Web3 trading. It retains the security and user familiarity of CEXs while unlocking the asset diversity and potential of DeFi.

For Example: a user discovers a trending meme coin on social media and wants to copy a whale trade. Traditionally, that would involve switching wallets, acquiring gas, copying contract addresses, and navigating multiple DEX interfaces. With MoonX, there’s no wallet setup, no gas fees, no chain switching—just one BYDFi account and a single tap to execute.

MoonX delivers a Web2-level user experience tailored for a Web3 world:

  1. Access to Over 500,000 Meme Coins
  • Aggregates liquidity from multiple platforms like Pump.fun, Raydium, PancakeSwap, and more.
  • Currently supports Solana and BNB Chain, with plans to expand to additional major blockchains.
  1. Built-In Trading Intelligence
  • Integrates smart strategies and smart money copy trading.
  • Millisecond-level execution, optimized for high-frequency Degen Traders.
  1. Security-First On-Chain Infrastructure
  • Hybrid custody ensures users don’t manage private keys but still retain asset control.
  • Co-built with Safeheron using MPC + TEE for institutional-grade protection.
  • Integrated with GoPlus for real-time contract risk scanning and alerts.

BYDFi: Entering the Dual-Engine Era

MoonX is more than a product update—it’s the start of BYDFi’s CEX + DEX dual-engine architecture. Users can now manage centralized and on-chain assets within one unified account framework.

By combining liquidity, strategy tools, and advanced security, MoonX goes beyond trend-chasing. It’s building a foundation for trading early-stage, long-tail assets with optimized on-chain efficiency.

Michael, Co-Founder of BYDFi, stated:

“MoonX is more than a new feature—it could shape a new standard: a scalable Web3 onboarding system that starts with a CEX front-end and runs on a DEX backend, designed for frictionless asset flow.”

He added:

“MoonX merges the best of both worlds—CEX performance and DEX freedom—so that anyone can participate in smart on-chain trading. Web3 shouldn’t be exclusive to experts. It should be a finance layer open to all.”

About BYDFi

Founded in 2020, BYDFi serves over 1,000,000 users across 190+ countries. Its product lineup includes spot, derivatives, copy trading, and now on-chain trading via MoonX.

In 2023, BYDFi was recognized by Forbes as one of the Top 10 Global Crypto Exchanges. In 2025, it partnered with Ledger to launch a co-branded hardware wallet, reinforcing user self-custody and asset security.
