ROSIE Reclaims the Night With Empowering New Single “Mr. Blue Jeans”

Today, New York singer-songwriter ROSIE returns with the empowering “Mr. Blue Jeans,” her new single out now. ROSIE uses this one to flip the script on being stood up; choosing to spend the night enjoying the company of the most important person, herself.

On the origin of the track, ROSIE shares, “‘Mr. Blue Jeans’ is about being stood up on a first date, but deciding to make the best of the night despite the unfortunate circumstances.  When I was young being rejected used to feel like the end of the world to me but this song represents what rejection feels like when you’re confident in who you are and you know your own worth. Mr. Blue Jeans is not about a boy who stood me up, it’s about standing up for myself when someone else refused to show up.”

A testament to ROSIE’s ethos, “Mr. Blue Jeans” both lyrically and visually creates a space for women to choose themselves. With her classic no makeup look, ROSIE sings her anthem for the girls,  “Hey Mr. Blue Jeans, you said 5:30 / Now its way past 9:00 / So I could waste this dress / I could lose my head / I could cry in bed  / Like a man made mess / You’re just like the rest and I don’t know what I’ll do  / But I’m not gonna waste tonight on you.”

“Mr. Blue Jeans” follows last month’s “City Woman,” which also saw ROSIE putting herself first. Raw honesty is a constant for ROSIE, and was a theme that featured heavily on her 2024 EP, What Scares Me the Most. That vulnerable yet self-affirming set served up raw, unfiltered lyrics over a timeless swirl of folk, pop, and indie — including “Break a Promise,” a heart-on-sleeve duet between ROSIE and Nashville up and comer Caleb Hearn.

Other EP highlights include tender charmer “Big Heart,” the strong-willed “Lose Me Too,” and “Rock Bottom,” all of which, according to The Honey Pop, “you all need to have your eyes on.” She also shared moving full-band performance videos for “Blood Moon” and “I Was Wrong,” among others. Early last year, ROSIE and Caleb Hearn first came together on “Little Bit Better” which to date has over 169 million global streams and praise from Conversations About Her, who described the track as “both touching and catchy.”

In a world of hiding behind who people are, ROSIE is not afraid to be unapologetically her.

When ROSIE started posting on TikTok, the emotional-pop artist achieved every songwriter’s dream: her breakout single “Never the 1” reached just shy of 18 million views and got the attention of Arista Records, who signed her shortly after. The New York native puts into words the complexities of heartbreak, resonating with millions, as well as celebrities like FINNEAS, Olivia Rodrigo, Charlie Puth, Olivia O’Brien, and Celine Dion–ROSIE even co-wrote “Love Again” for a SONY film, which was Dion’s first song since being diagnosed with Stiff-person Syndrome. At just 24 years old, ROSIE has already earned a reputation as a self-love visionaire by championing social media transparency through her vow not to wear makeup and never edits her photos, yes, not even Facetune. Whether it’s her lyrics or her artwork, ROSIE brings forward an unpolished, human authenticity. While ROSIE had a successful 2023 with the release of her sophomore EP, 5 Songs For Healing, and her first U.S. headlining tour, 2024 has seen the songstress reach new heights. ROSIE’s music now reaches 3M+ listenership worldwide, and her recent collaboration with singer-songwriter Caleb Hearn on “Little Bit Better” has gone viral online, amassing over 22 million views across Tiktok and Instagram reels. ROSIE is gearing up to unveil her next project later this year, which includes the latest singles “Lose Me Too,” “Try Again,” “Rock Bottom” and now “Big Heart.”
