Blackened Whiskey Releases 2024 Edition Of Rye The Lightning Inspired By Metallica

Today, award-winning BLACKENED Whiskey announces the release of the 2024 edition of Rye the Lightning, inspired by Metallica’s 6x platinum sophomore album, Ride the Lightning. This limited-edition expression follows the highly acclaimed 2022 edition of Rye The Lightning, which received Gold from the John Barleycorn Awards, Best Finished Whiskey from Breaking Bourbon, a 93 rating from Whisky Advocate, and was awarded the #14 spot on Whisky Advocate’s 2022 Top 20 Most Exciting Whiskies of the World. Given the overwhelmingly positive response, BLACKENED Master Distiller & Blender Rob Dietrich sought to bottle lightning again with this latest iteration.

The 2024 edition of Rye The Lightning is crafted from a blend of straight rye whiskeys hand-selected by Dietrich. The whiskeys are vatted and transferred for finishing to Madeira wine and Caribbean rum casks for 2-14 weeks each, where they undergo BLACKENED’s proprietary BLACK NOISE sonic-enhancement process. Rye The Lightning is non-chill filtered and bottled at 92 proof. The result is notes of green apple, barn hay, caramel, and banana bread on the nose with pear, honeysuckle, muscovado, almond, cinnamon, sawn-wood, and waffle cone on the palate.

“When we launched the first edition of Rye The Lightning in 2022, I knew we had something special,” said Master Distiller & Blender Rob Dietrich. “I absolutely love the hay spice and dark earthy notes in American rye whiskey, so it was an adventure to play around with a creative flavor profile through cask finishing. I was thrilled that consumers loved this whiskey as much as we did, and with this limited release, I tried to capture some of the innovative magic of the first expression, but with a slightly new spin by upping the proof a couple of notches, while applying non-chill filtering and using a rye with a different mash bill with different types of Madeira and Rum finishes.”

The makers of BLACKENED Whiskey sonically enhance their whiskeys to extract more flavor from the casks, using a proprietary scientific process co-developed by the sound engineers at Meyer Sound, a global leader in sound technology. Dubbed Black Noise, this sonic-enhancement process produces low hertz sound waves causing the whiskey to reverberate at a fast rate, interacting with the oak staves of the barrel, measurably releasing wood compounds and flavors.

Goodwill Encourages Coachella Fans To Shift To Thrift

Goodwill Industries International and Goodwill of Southern California are highlighting sustainability, inclusivity, and creativity at this year’s Coachella festival (April 12-21, 2024) by empowering art and design activities in partnership with Los Angeles-based Scene Creative.

Festivalgoers can tap into their inner artist and fashion designer at The Coachella Art Studios, offering a variety of cost-free and creative activities from jewelry making and upcycling inspirations using thrifted clothing to live drawing, decorating tote bags, and interacting with designers and artists.

At this year’s festival, Goodwill is embracing diversity and inclusivity in fashion by partnering with mannequin maker, Greneker, whose founder, Lillian Greneker redefined the mannequin and visual merchandising industry 94 years ago. Greneker is providing the figures, which invite size inclusivity and diversity, turning the blank mannequins into artifacts and stories of the festival. Coachella fans will style different looks for the mannequins using clothing sourced from Goodwill.

Subaru Introduces SiriusXM With 360L To Vehicle Lineup

Subaru of America, Inc. and SiriusXM today announced that SiriusXM with 360L is now available on 2023 model year and newer Ascent, Legacy and Outback, as well as 2024 Crosstrek, Impreza and WRX, giving drivers better access to even more content from SiriusXM.

SiriusXM with 360L combines satellite and streaming content delivery into a single, cohesive in-vehicle entertainment experience, which provides drivers and their passengers with more content, better discovery, and a more personalized listening experience. SiriusXM with 360L in Subaru adds more than 100 additional music channels curated to match every mood, an expansive library of on demand content and a live sports category that makes it easier to find broadcasts of games and sporting events. New personalized “For You” recommendations, with the ability to access related content, allows listeners to discover more of the programming they love. New features are expected to be delivered by convenient over-the-air updates from SiriusXM.

Bud Light Canada Presents The Buckle Up Tour: Bringing Country Music To Small-Town Bars, Headlined By Owen Riegling

Today, Bud Light Canada announced the Buckle Up Tour featuring rising Canadian country music star, Owen Riegling. The free tour, which is being produced by Live Nation Canada, will kick off on May 6th, 2024, making 12 stops in small-town country bars across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

Building on its deep roots in creating exceptional live music experiences as a frequent festival sponsor and creator of the Bud Light House Party Tour, the Buckle Up Tour, presented by Bud Light and powered by Live Nation Canada, aligns with the brand’s focus on engaging country-music fans.

“Country music was born in small towns, but as artists grow in their careers it often leads them to big stages in big cities,” said Andrew Oosterhuis, Vice President of Marketing, Labatt Breweries of Canada. “Given this insight, Bud Light wanted to find an authentic way to bring country music home to small-town country bars for Canadians to enjoy.”

Budding country music star and Mildmay, Ontario native, Owen Riegling, started his career playing in his hometown’s bars. Recently, he won the 2022 Emerging Artist Showcase at the Canadian country music festival Boots & Hearts. The prize, part of a partnership with Universal Music Canada, led to the release of his debut single and a record deal with the country’s leading music company. Owen has been playing live ever since, touring as the opening act for established country artists including Tyler Hubbard – all part of his notable upward trajectory in the Canadian country music scene.

Free tickets for each of the 12 shows will be available beginning Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. local time at BuckleUpTour.ca. Tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis, with a limit of two tickets per customer. Tickets cannot be resold and orders will be voided if tickets are found being resold online. A limited number of free tickets will be available at the door on the night of each show, subject to venue capacity. Individuals attending the event grant permission for Bud Light, Owen Riegling and its representatives to use photography and video content captured at each venue in future communications, and collateral.

The Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAOntario) is proud to announce the first wave of performers for the CMAOntario Festival & Awards Weekend taking place May 31-June 2, 2024 in Mississauga. In addition to the 13th Annual CMAOntario Awards Show, CMAOntario Festival & Awards Weekend will include Songs & Stories: Songwriters in the Round, R2i TuneUp Conference, Street Fair, Bonfire, Tailgate Party, and Sauga Sunday.

On Saturday, June 1 the CMAOntario Festival & Awards Weekend will present Tailgate, and Bonfire – two free concerts at Celebration Square. Fans can celebrate the anticipation of the CMAOntario Awards with the afternoon Tailgate party featuring entertainment from nominees and fan favourites such as Andrew Hyatt, Jessie T, New Moon Junction, and Emily Clair. The CMAOntario Bonfire will give fans a chance to take in Ontario’s hottest new music and rising stars with evening concert performances by Jason Blaine, Les Bilinguish Boys, Karli June, Mackenzie Leigh Meyer, Lemon Cash, and Abby Stewart.

On Sunday, June 2 at Celebration Square, the City of Mississauga’s music office will present Sauga Sunday. This free, family-friendly afternoon concert will show why Mississauga was named Canadian “Music City of the Year” with an all-women lineup of the city’s top country talent featuring Elyse Saunders, Nicole Rayy, Bree Taylor, Alessia Cohle, Kendra Gabrielle and Jade Hilton.

The 13th Annual CMAOntario Awards Show, hosted by Jason McCoy and Teigen Gayse, will include exciting performances by: Karli June, who is nominated for four CMAOntario Awards this year; Owen Riegling, Jason Blaine, and Nicole Rayy, who are each nominated for three CMAOntario Awards; Griffen Palmer, up for two CMAOntario Awards; Elyse Saunders, nominated for Female Artist of the Year; River Town Saints, nominated for Group or Duo of the Year; Sugar Crush, first time nominees for Francophone Artist or Group of the Year; Callie McCullough, nominated for Roots Artist or Group of the Year; and Ryan Langdon, who is celebrating 200,000 streams and counting on his latest single “Soul & My Sanity”. The CMAOntario Awards Show will also include the Impact Award, which recognizes an artist, group, industry personality or organization that has left an enduring and indelibly positive footprint on the landscape of country music in Ontario. The 2024 Impact Award will be presented to Charlie Major.

Rising to the forefront of the Canadian Music scene in the early to mid-nineties, Charlie had a heyday at radio when he became the first Canadian artist in history to score six BDS #1 hits off of his debut album. Nine more chart topping hits would follow, and Charlie would crisscross the world headlining tours and connecting with his fans at fairs and festivals.

But as the old saying goes “fame comes with a cost” and it wasn’t long before a major US label signed Charlie, moved him and his family to Nashville. The head of the label told Charlie his sound needed to change and become “more country.” The marketing department thought his records might sell better in the US if he appeared on the album cover in a Stetson, and added more fiddles and steel guitars to his edgy songs. What the label did not know was that even though Major might sell out concerts, he was not the type of guy who ‘sells out’ his career. Charlie’s integrity to remain true to his fans, himself and his music was immovable and so he relinquished the dream of the big US record deal and returned to his homeland where he continues to be embraced.

Over a decade later Charlie is as successful as ever, he headlines his own tours and pairs up with the likes of ZZ Top to rock arenas full of fans from coast to coast. He has sold nearly half a million records in Canada alone and won three Juno Awards and seven CCMA’s, but you wouldn’t know it to meet him, and he would not tell you. He wears the cloak of humility, just like the hardworking folks that he represents in his music. Truly a Canadian legend and one of the accomplished ‘nice guys’ in the game, Charlie would not have it any other way.

The Other Two Announce Reissue Of Debut Album ‘The Other Two & You’

Today, The Other Two announce the reissue of their debut album The Other Two & You, available to buy from 31st May and for pre-order now via Warner Music here.

Formed by New Order band members Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert in 1990, The Other Two & You was recorded in part at Real World Studios in 1990 and produced by Stephen Hague with contributions from A Certain Ratio’s Jez Kerr. The lead track ‘Tasty Fish’ was released to critical acclaim that year, with the album coming in 1993 on London Records, following the closure of Factory Records. The record started life as a collection of tracks while composing for the 90’s hit TV show ‘Making Out’, the main theme of which was an adaptation of New Order’s track ‘Vanishing Point.’

Stephen and Gillian say “Is it really 31 years since this was first released? It doesn’t seem that long ago, but that’s old age for you. We’re both very excited that this album (our first attempt at the pop solo spin off malarkey) is getting another outing. This time with added vinyl connoisseur appeal and remixed sleeve artwork”

The 2024 reissue contains a previously unreleased version of ‘Innocence’ from Love To Infinity on both CD and Vinyl.
