The Wiggles Release an EDM Techno Remix Album

0

Just when you thought you had The Wiggles pegged, they are reinventing their music for a whole new audience with the release of their first full-blown EDM album: The Wiggles Soundsystem: Rave of Innocence.

The album features fourteen EDM remixes of Wiggles classics, including earworms such as ‘Hot Potato’, ‘Fruit Salad’, ‘Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga’, Big Red Car,’ alongside a reworking of the group’s new viral hit, Bouncing Balls. It’s a vibrant celebration of joy, silliness, and pure fun!

Remixed by Lenny Pearce (of Justice Crew fame – and the twin brother of the current purple Wiggle, John) and DJ Dorothy (yes, the iconic Dorothy the Dinosaur), it marks the debut of The Wiggles Sound System, described as “an electrifying fusion of nostalgia and party-starting techno beats”, and “a pulsating musical journey that’s part wild dancefloor party, part toddler tantrum tamer”.

Lenny Pearce has become an online sensation, amassing a loyal following of over 1.4 million TikTok fans with EDM remixes of children’s music and other unconventional tunes.

Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field said, “It’s so incredible seeing people in their 20s and 30s who grew up enjoying our music in a whole new fun way, this remix album is sort of an extension of that. It’s wild ride – DJ Dorothy is on fire!”

The Wiggles are no strangers to leaving their mark on the mainstream music world. In 2021 their cover of Tame Impala’s “Elephant” (a mashup with their catchy smash hit “Fruit Salad”) was one of the biggest hits of the year, with Kevin Parker himself being blown away and later joining The Wiggles on stage to perform it live in concert. The Wiggles followed that up with the release of a new album, call “ReWiggled”, featuring classic covers from artists like Rhianna, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, The White Stripes and Queen.

Rave of Innocence was created for music lovers who grew up dancing along to The Wiggles. This album isn’t just a trip down memory lane – it’s a full-blown rave for grown-up Wiggle fans who refuse to let go of their inner child.

Key Takeaways:

  • An ATS vastly increases the efficiency of recruitment workflows and processes.
  • Job seekers benefit from a more streamlined and communicative hiring experience using an ATS.
  • Choosing the most suitable applicant software is critical for successful implementation and impact.
  • Understanding future trends in ATS technology assists organizations in staying ahead in talent acquisition.
  • Implementing best practices for ATS use is as essential as selecting the software.

Introduction to Applicant Tracking Systems

Applicant Tracking Systems AI (ATS) are more than just a trend in the HR world; they’re a fundamental shift in how companies approach hiring and talent management. By digitally managing candidate data from initial application to a final hiring decision, these sophisticated platforms democratize recruitment and help businesses focus on finding suitable candidates. Simplifying complex processes, an ATS interacts with a suite of other tools and stakeholders, providing a centralized and accessible pool of information. Adopting advanced applicant software lets an organization stay ahead of competitors by optimizing its hiring processes and ensuring a consistent inflow of skilled professionals.

Boosting Efficiency in Recruitment

Efficiency in recruitment translates to less time and resources spent on vetting candidates, enabling a focus on engaging with the most promising prospects. An ATS’s automation streamlines the recruitment funnel and addresses the challenge of volume versus quality in candidate applications. By setting precise criteria and parameters, an ATS can quickly filter out applicants who don’t meet the role’s requirements while identifying those with the highest potential for success. Automation here aids in speed and accuracy—reducing human error and ensuring a fairer, more efficient recruitment process.

Enhancing Candidate Experience

An ATS is a boon for candidate experience—an increasingly critical factor in attracting top talent. Job seekers today expect clarity, communication, and convenience during the application process. An ATS optimizes these touchpoints, allowing candidates to easily submit applications, receive timely updates, and engage with potential employers meaningfully. It results in a more attractive employer brand, driving candidate engagement and increasing the likelihood of attracting and retaining top-tier talent.

Ensuring Compliance and Organization

The structured nature of ATS software serves another critical function—compliance with employment regulations. By treating every candidate equally and transparently, an ATS minimizes exposure to claims of hiring bias or discrimination. All logs and communication are securely stored within the system, which becomes especially vital when considering the global variance in workplace laws and the high stakes of non-compliance. Furthermore, this meticulous record-keeping simplifies auditing recruitment processes, ensuring the organization’s continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.

Integration with Other Tools

A modern ATS’s defining characteristic is its ability to connect seamlessly with other software. This level of system integration serves as a powerful touchpoint between the recruitment funnel and the broader HR ecosystem. Whether sourcing candidates or seamlessly transitioning new hires into an HRIS for payroll and benefits management, the interoperability of an ATS with other systems is vital for streamlined HR operations.

Making Data-Driven Decisions

In the recruitment landscape, data is the lighthouse guiding strategic decisions. Metrics available through an ATS can identify the most effective recruitment channels, track the speed of hiring processes, and pinpoint bottlenecks that might be slowing down hiring. Having empirical evidence to back decisions fuels continual process improvement. For instance, recognizing a consistent source of quality candidates may indicate where companies should focus their efforts while understanding the stages at which applicants most often disengage can highlight opportunities for enhancing the candidate experience.

Choosing the Right Applicant Software

Selecting an ATS is not a one-size-fits-all decision and should be approached with an understanding of an organization’s specific needs. While some businesses prioritize sophisticated analytics and reporting, others may value candidate experience features or cost-effectiveness above all. It’s a balance—finding a system that aligns with current goals and is scalable and adaptable for future growth. A careful evaluation during the procurement process will pay dividends in the long run, ensuring that the chosen ATS is a valuable asset in the HR arsenal.

The Future of Applicant Tracking Systems

As we gaze into the future of recruitment and talent management, the ATS stands out as an evolving technological beacon. Innovations in artificial intelligence and machine learning are beginning to be woven into ATS platforms, paving the way for self-improving systems capable of more innovative candidate matching and predictive analytics. Embracing this technological evolution will be critical for organizations to maintain a competitive edge, attracting the brightest talent via the most efficient and forward-thinking methods available.

Best Practices for Using ATS

Every tool, regardless of how advanced, can only be effective properly. Best practices for an ATS include:

  • Maintaining an updated and clutter-free candidate database.
  • Ensuring recruiters are fully versed in the system’s capabilities.
  • Regularly revisiting the criteria for screening applicants.

It also means engaging with software providers for regular updates, seeking feedback from candidates about their experience with your application process, and continuously refining the interaction between the ATS and other HR systems to effectively cover the entire recruitment lifecycle. Utilizing an ATS in such a manner enriches the entire recruitment ecosystem—turning mundane hiring tasks into strategic opportunities and fostering a data-informed culture that thrives on quality and efficiency. With recruitment technology becoming increasingly sophisticated, those organizations that harness the full potential of their ATS will secure the promise of tomorrow’s talent landscape.

Guitarist Plays Black Sabbath Riffs With All Strings Tuned to B

Check out Bloxsy, the British musical maestro, who’s not afraid to flip the script! Picture this: he’s taken his guitar, cranked up the cool factor by tuning all the strings to ‘B,’ and unleashed a barrage of Black Sabbath riffs like you’ve never heard before.

But wait, there’s more. Bloxsy didn’t just stop at playing the classics. Oh no, he went full-on rebel mode and renamed each riff with a buzzing twist. We’re talking “Black Sabees” (“Black Sabbath”), “Symptom of the Bee Verse” (“Symptom of the Universe”), “Children of the Bees” (“Children of the Grave”), “The Wizard of Bees” (“The Wizard”), “Paranoid Bees” (“Paranoid”), “Into the Bee-Void” (“Into the Void”), and “Hand of Bees” (“Hand of Doom”) and more.

Mirvish Theatre Unveils North American Premiere of ‘Just For One Day’: A Musical Tribute to Live Aid’s Legacy

0

David Mirvish is excited to announce the North American premiere of Just For One Day, a new musical about the making of Live Aid that premiered at The Old Vic, London, in a sell-out season earlier this year. Written by best-selling author John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, In Dreams), Just For One Day will make the trip across the Atlantic in Live Aid’s fortieth anniversary year. It will play a limited run January 28 to March 16, 2025 at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre.

Just For One Day will join the 2024/25 Mirvish Main Subscription lineup. It will replace Mamma Mia! in the seven-show season. (The new touring production of Mamma Mia! will still play a five-week run October 8 to November 10, 2024 at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre; however, it will not be on subscription.)

“We’ve been following the development of Just For One Day from its early workshops,” said David Mirvish. “Live Aid was a monumental event and movement that harnessed the power of popular music and brought more than a billion people together in aid of famine relief. How Live Aid came to be, the passion of the many people involved, the challenges faced and the ultimate triumph — this is the stuff of great storytelling and what would make a great musical. At the musical’s opening at The Old Vic in February, I was delighted to experience the final product of all those years of development. It is a magnificent achievement, and now it is time for Just For One Day to be seen far and wide.

“We are delighted that Toronto has been chosen as the next stage in Just For One Day’s journey. Lead producer Jamie Wilson, who has been shepherding this project from the very beginning, will reassemble the original creative team for the run at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre.

“I’m also pleased that 10% of all ticket sales from the show’s Toronto engagement will be donated to the Live Band Charitable Trust, which was founded in 1984 and has raised over £140 million ($265 million CAD) to support organisations dedicated to the prevention or relief of poverty and famine through charitable grants.”

Jamie Wilson said: “We are delighted today to announce that Just For One Day will make its North American premiere in Toronto. It was thrilling to experience the reception to the musical in London, not only as the fastest-selling musical ever at The Old Vic, but from the nightly standing ovations of our audiences. John, Luke and the creative team have created a truly theatrical celebration of a unique moment, and I am excited to now share their production with audiences across the world.”

Subscriptions to the 2024/25 Mirvish Main Subscription are now available for sale on mirvish.com. Non-subscription tickets will go on sale early fall 2024. More details will be announced.

On July 13, 1985, music brought the world together. Just For One Day is the story of Live Aid and the people united by it. Featuring the songs of Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, Madonna, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross and more of the iconic artists who made history at simultaneous concerts in London and Philadelphia.

Political unrest, social revolution, boom and bust. In a decade of neon and noise, an unprecedented global concert event made the world stand still and brought 1.5 billion people together – and they all have a story to tell about ‘the day rock ‘n’ roll changed the world’.

Don’t miss this electrifying and galvanizing new musical written by John O’Farrell (Mrs. Doubtfire, Something Rotten!) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things).

10% from the sale of all tickets will be donated directly to The Band Aid Charitable Trust.

Just For One Day is written by John O’Farrell and directed by Luke Sheppard. The production features Musical Supervision, Arrangements & Orchestration by Matthew Brind, Choreography by Ebony Molina, Set by Soutra Gilmour, Costume by Fay Fullerton, Lighting by Howard Hudson, Sound by Gareth Owen, Video & Animation by Andrzej Goulding and Casting by Stuart Burt CDG.

The cast will be announced at a later date.

Produced by Jamie Wilson Productions, Kevin McCollum, Sonia Friedman Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, Kenny Wax Ltd, The Ambassador Theatre Group, Mirvish Productions, Nederlander Theatres, No Guarantees, Burnt Umber Productions, Stephen C Byrd, and The Old Vic by permission of The Band Aid Charitable Trust.

The Band Aid Charitable Trust was set up in 1984. Over the last 38 years it has been operated by the same group of unpaid trustees and with no employees. The Trust’s mandate is the relief of hunger and poverty in Ethiopia and the neighbourhood thereof. It has raised and spent in excess of £140 million. During its 38-year history it has funded food, medicine, housing, hospitals, surgery, immunisation, bridges, irrigation, water supplies, livestock, schools and much, much more – including bee keeping! In tandem with these charitable projects the Trust has created, nurtured and protected intellectual property to develop regular annual income streams to enable the Trust to continue its activities. Just For One Day is a natural part of that evolution. All of the Trust’s income from the ticket sales of Just For One Day will go directly to these charitable activities.

George Benson Returns With Recently Rediscovered “Dreams Do Come True” Lost Album

0

Grammy Award-winning jazz guitarist-vocalist George Benson will release a long-lost orchestral album this summer, his first since returning to Warner Music Group earlier this year. Dreams Do Come True: When George Benson Meets Robert Farnon will be available on June 14 from Rhino on CD and LP, as well as digital and streaming platforms.

In 1989, Benson collaborated with celebrated composer-arranger Robert Farnon and his orchestra to create Dreams Do Come True. Farnon’s lush arrangements perfectly complement Benson’s soulful vocals and fluid guitar work on American Standards like “Autumn Leaves,” “At Last,” and “My Romance.” The spellbinding collection also features reimagined pop classics like the Beatles’ “Yesterday” and Leon Russell’s “A Song For You.” In 1976, Benson’s version of Russell’s “This Masquerade” became his first major hit and won the Grammy® Award for Record of the Year.

Benson recorded Dreams Do Come True during a prolific period and chose to delay the album’s release. In the meantime, the recordings went missing and remained lost until recently, when they were rediscovered in Benson’s archive. Now, after 35 years, the album will finally receive its proper release.

George Benson stated, “After finding this long-lost treasure of music, I employed my genius friend, Randy Waldman, to help me bring it back to life. Mission accomplished.”

The original recording sessions for Dreams Do Come True were impeccably captured by Grammy® Award-winning engineer Al Schmidt, who manned the recording console for some of Benson’s most successful albums. All 11 tracks have been newly remastered for the upcoming release. Benson partnered with Grammy®-award-winning pianist, composer, and arranger Randy Waldman as his co-producer, adding in overdubs and expressive choral arrangements throughout the reimagined record.

This album marks the latest chapter in Benson’s illustrious career as a giant in both jazz and contemporary music. During his tenure with Warner Records from 1976 to 1993, Benson released 12 studio albums, including Breezin’. This groundbreaking record not only topped the pop, R&B, and jazz charts but also earned Benson three of his 10 Grammy® Awards. Certified triple platinum, Breezin’ remains one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time. In 2009, the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) recognized Benson as a Jazz Master, the nation’s highest honor for jazz artists.

A consummate performer, Benson remains a must-see live artist. He will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl on August 18.
