Pixies And Modest Mouse Team Up Again For Co-Headline Tour With Cat Power For Summer 2024 Dates

0

Today, indie rock titans Pixies and Modest Mouse announced their 2024 co-headline tour across North America with special guest Cat Power joining on all upcoming dates. Produced by Live Nation, the 23-date run kicks off on Friday, May 31 in Charleston, SC at Firefly Distillery, with stops in Charlotte, Nashville, Toronto, Queens, Chicago, Austin and more before wrapping up on Sunday, June 30 in Denver, CO at Fiddler’s Green.

The 2024 tour follows the highly successful sold-out 2023 run featuring all three acts, which concluded in San Diego this past September. The 2023 tour included an epic Hollywood Bowl performance in Los Angeles and multiple nights at Pier 17 in New York, along with stops in Napa, Bridgeport, Vail, Seattle and more.

Pixies have been acclaimed as the most influential, pioneering band of the late 80s alt/rock movement, having served as a major influence for artists like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, the Strokes, Weezer, and many more. And today, a whole new generation of music fans has been discovering and embracing the band’s “loudquietloud” signature sound. Quirky, catchy melodies have always been Pixies’ calling card; seven genre-defining studio albums, including the Gold-certified Surfer Rosa, and the iconic Platinum Doolittle, considered one of the all-time, quintessential alt/rock albums. Sell-out crowds all over the globe, Pixies’ live shows are unadulterated magic, simultaneously electrifying and lo-fi. Seventy-five minutes of the band playing anything they want, in whatever order they want, the classics and the new gems. And no two Pixies shows are ever the same.

Having recently completed a sold out 25th anniversary tour for their breakthrough album, 1997’s The Lonesome Crowded West and played a summer ’23 run with Pixies and Cat Power, Modest Mouse continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today. Modest Mouse released their highly anticipated new album, The Golden Casket, on June 25, 2021 via Epic Records. The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY Award-nominated multi platinum band’s unpredictable evolution. Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse’s studio in Portland, the album hovers in the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from the degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology, to fatherhood. The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in Brock’s head.

With a catalogue of songwriting that’s unparalleled in the worlds of indie rock and American music at large—spanning several decades and ten studio albums—Marshall’s work as Cat Power has defied genre and convention, her legacy rippling through the work of a wide range of contemporary musical luminaries ranging from Lana Del Rey, Clairo, and Soccer Mommy to Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Angel Olsen. There’s a rawness and immediacy to Marshall’s music that has stood the test of time, with every new musical missive from her as essential as what’s come before it.

Later this summer, the band will hit the road with Hootie & the Blowfish, as their special guest (along with Edwin McCain) for the “Summer Camp with Trucks Tour” produced by Live Nation. The trek–which will visit 43 cities across the U.S. and Canada–kicks off May 30 in Dallas and runs through September 28 in West Palm Beach, visiting arenas, amphitheaters and select stadiums such as Boston’s iconic Fenway Park (with special guests Barenaked Ladies) along the way. St. Vincent Announce New Album ‘All Born Screaming’ Out April 26

0

Annie Clark, the musician better known as triple-GRAMMY-winning iconoclast St. Vincent, has confirmed the release date of her seventh full-length studio album: All Born Screaming will be delivered April 26 via Virgin Music Group.

St. Vincent’s first self-produced record, All Born Screaming is Clark at her most unfiltered. Assuming the mantle of sole producer made for an unprecedented direct translation to tape of the sounds originating in her head, heart and hands:

“There are some places, emotionally, that you can only get to by taking the long walk into the woods alone—to find out what your heart is really saying,” Clark says. “It sounds real because it is real.”

All Born Screaming is an invitation to test the limits of what is possible–and to then keep going; Brought to life with the aid of a highly curated dream lineup of friends — Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Dave Grohl, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mogzawa and David Ralicke — the album is an unadulterated expression of St. Vincent’s singular vision.

Exhibit A is “Broken Man,” the first advance offering from the gauntlet of emotional wreckage that is side one of All Born Screaming. The song is a sonic juggernaut that shatters preconceived expectations and introduces the album with an irrefutable power–one that arrives in tandem with a video shot in Philadelphia in mid-January by Alex Da Corte, whose visuals complete the album’s distinct aesthetic. The video made its broadcast premier on MTV Live, mtvU and the Paramount Times Square billboards.

All Born Screaming was produced by St. Vincent and mixed by Cian Riordan. The album’s track listing is as follows:
Hell is Near
Reckless
Broken Man
Flea
Big Time Nothing
Violent Times
The Power’s Out
Sweetest Fruit
So Many Planets
All Born Screaming (featuring Cate Le Bon)

Kacey Musgraves Announces “Deeper Well World Tour”

0

Seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves has announced her long-awaited return to the stage with her 2024 “Deeper Well World Tour” promoted by AEG Presents. The headline world tour kicks off this spring in Dublin on April 28th, with stops in Europe and the UK, followed by the North American leg commencing on September 4th in State College, PA. The “Deeper Well World Tour” marks Kacey’s most extensive live tour of her career, playing major cities across the U.S. and concluding with a special two-night stand in her own backyard at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on December 6 & 7. Support artists for the “Deeper Well World Tour” include Madi Diaz, Father John Misty, Lord Huron, and Nickel Creek.

American Express Card Members can purchase tickets for the “Deeper Well World Tour” in select markets before the general public, just one of the many benefits American Express Card Members have access to. Amex Early Access for the North American and UK dates begins Tuesday, March 5th at 10am local time through Thursday, March 7th at 10pm local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public at http://www.kaceymusgraves.com/tour on Friday, March 8 – aptly timed to International Women’s Day – @ 10 AM local time.

Along with the “Deeper Well World Tour” announcement, Kacey has also unveiled the evocative new track, “Too Good to be True” out today. “Too Good to be True” showcases Kacey’s luminous vocals set against a sparse, crystalline arrangement, and an aching vulnerability when she sings, “please don’t make me regret opening up that part of myself that I’ve been scared to give again.”

Ahead of record release, Kacey will make her third appearance on Saturday Night Live on March 2nd, followed by performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 14th and NBC’s TODAY show on March 15th.

The upcoming “Deeper Well World Tour” follows Kacey’s first-ever triumphant 2022 arena “star-crossed: unveiled” tour in support of her lauded album of the same name, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Albums Sales chart. The shows were widely acclaimed; Billboard noted Kacey “offered a mix of catharsis and humour” during her performance, while The Minneapolis Star Tribune said she, “burned bright in the emotional, visual tour opener.” After headlining NYC’s iconic Madison Square Garden, Variety raved, “Musgraves was equally at home being vulnerable, silly, wistful and in the mood to party.”

Musgraves’ groundbreaking album Golden Hour, and subsequent “Oh, What A World: Tour” spanned over two years, including an arena tour with Harry Styles. Kacey has performed at such marquee festivals including Primavera, Coachella, Stagecoach, Fuji Rocks Festival, Global Citizen Festival, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Farm Aid, Lollapalooza and more.

Golden Hour earned Kacey her third #1 debut on Billboard’s Top Country Album chart and distinguished her as only the third artist ever to take home Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, Country Music Association Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2023 Musgraves achieved her first #1 entry on the Hot 100 chart for “I Remember Everything,” a duet with Zach Bryan which was just crowned with the Best Country Song by a Duo or Group at the 66th Grammy Awards. With this win, Musgraves became the only artist in history to receive a Grammy Award for Best Country Album, Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Duo or Group Performance.

Twenty One Pilots Return With Details Of New Album ‘Clancy’ And Release “Overcompensate” Single

0

GRAMMY Award winning duo Twenty One Pilots have announced details of their new album, Clancy, which will be released May 17th via Fueled By Ramen. Today, the band has shared the forthcoming album’s first single, “Overcompensate,” which is available on all streaming platforms and accompanied by an official music video directed by longtime collaborator Reel Bear Media. Clancy marks Twenty One Pilots’ first studio album in three years and follows their RIAA Gold certified LP, Scaled And Icy.

With details of the release teased to fans earlier this month via cryptic mailings and covert artswaps on streaming services, “Overcompensate” welcomes listeners back to the band’s immersive world of ‘Trench.’ Layers of synths build over a racing breakbeat in the song – a skilled passage of alternative dynamics, flexing in time, and ready to explode.

Introducing a new era of Twenty One Pilots, Clancy is available for pre-order today in a variety of physical formats including: two limited-edition deluxe box sets, four vinyl variants with additional retailer exclusives, an exclusive CD + Journal Book and a Cassette + Photocard Wallet, and much more.

Having amassed over 33 billion streams worldwide and over 3 million tickets sold across global headline tours, the Columbus, OH based duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have established themselves as one of the most successful bands of the 21st century and redefined the sound of a generation. Co-produced by Joseph and Paul Meany, Clancy marks the final chapter in an ambitious multi-album narrative first introduced in the band’s 2015 multi-Platinum breakthrough, Blurryface. Furthermore, Clancy’s forthcoming release on May 17th coincides with the 9th anniversary of Blurryface, which was released exactly nine years prior to the day.

Twenty One Pilots extended the ambitious concept laid out in Blurryface with their 2018 Platinum-certified album TRENCH. Featuring the multi-Platinum and Platinum singles “Chlorine,” “My Blood” and the GRAMMY Award-nominated “Jumpsuit,” the album graced spots on “Best of” year-end lists by Billboard, KERRANG!, Alternative Press, and Rock Sound—who placed it at #1.

The duo’s 2021 epic Scaled And Icy debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top “Rock Albums” and “Alternative Albums” charts while landing at No. 3 on the “Billboard 200,” marking the biggest opening week for a rock album in 2021. The record is highlighted by the #1 Alternative Radio hits “The Outside,” “Saturday,” and “Shy Away,” the latter of which ascended to #1 at the format in just three weeks, placing the duo in an elite group of acts with multiple songs to rise to #1 at the format in three weeks or less including: U2, R.E.M., The Cure, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Foo Fighters.

Grammy-Award winning band, Twenty One Pilots, have shifted music and culture as an incomparable creative force and with an ever-evolving vision. The Columbus, OH duo—Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun— have tallied over 33 billion global streams and counting, sold north of three million tickets worldwide, notched dozens of multi-Platinum certifications, and even claimed a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. In historic fashion, their quadruple-Platinum breakout LP, Blurryface, took flight as “the first album to notch a RIAA Gold or Platinum certification for every one of its songs,” while Vessel followed suit and achieved the same distinction. They elevated to rarified air as “one of only 18 artists to earn multiple RIAA Diamond certifications,” going Diamond with “Stressed Out” and “Heathens.” 2018’s Platinum-certified Trench extended the ambitious concept laid out in Blurryface and delivered the multi-Platinum and Platinum singles: “Chlorine,” “My Blood” and the GRAMMY® Award-nominated “Jumpsuit.” They followed Trench with their Gold-certified LP Scaled And Icy, achieving “the biggest opening week for a rock album in 2021” by capturing #1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts and crashing the Top 3 of the Billboard 200. Beyond rapturous headline shows at arenas and festivals worldwide, Twenty One Pilots have notably architected an immersive world without comparison, originating a multi-album conceptual arc across Blurryface, Trench, and Scaled And Icy. Exactly nine years to the date of the Blurryface album release, they complete this story on their seventh full-length offering, Clancy [Fueled By Ramen], out May 17, 2024. Led by the single “Overcompensate,” the LP signals the dawn of another era for Twenty One Pilots and alternative rock music at large.

Twenty One Pilots Clancy Tracklist:

7. The Craving (Jenna’s Version)

Kate Bush Is This Year’s Official Record Store Day UK Ambassador

0

Record Store Day UK is honoured to announce Kate Bush as this year’s official ambassador.

As part of her role, Kate will champion the special and unique culture of record shops all over the UK and celebrate the art of vinyl.

Kate will also release a special 10” Record Store Day edition of “Eat the Music” exclusively in independent record shops on Saturday 20th April.

The single was originally scheduled to be the first release from her 1993 album “Red Shoes”, but was cancelled in favour of “Rubberband Girl”. The RSD edition is now set to be a hugely collectible release for Kate Bush fans.

Kate has recreated her own unique version, a beautiful UV printed 10” with her preferred track list of: Eat the Music, Lily and Big Stripey Lie.

As Record Store Day ambassador, Kate Bush joins an illustrious list of artists including Taylor Swift, Elton John, Noel Gallagher and the 1975.

Kate said today:

“What a huge honour to have been asked to be Ambassador for this year’s Record Store Day. It really is a great privilege. Isn’t it great to see how the resurgence in vinyl has taken the music industry by complete surprise? It had decided to leave vinyl far behind, but it would seem that not everyone agrees! I love that!

I know there are many, many artists who are just as excited to see the audience turning the tide. In the same way that some people like to read a book on Kindle but also want to have a book as a physical object, a lot of people like vinyl and streaming. Both have different appeals.

The added bonus of vinyl is that it encourages people to listen to albums. An art form that I’ve always thought can be treasured in a unique way. An album on vinyl is a beautiful thing, given a strong identity by its large-scale artwork. There’s a much more personal connection with the artist and their work.

It’s been fun putting designs together for some of the previous RSDs. This year’s design echoes the cancelled release of Eat the Music as the first single from the album, The Red Shoes. The image was intended to be on the cover of the single bag and is now on the disc as a UV print.

The title, Eat the Music, is meant to be a playful nod to ‘If music be the food of love, play on,’ from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

Each year Record Store Day gathers more attention, more momentum, and attracts more people who cram into indie record stores all over the world to see what’s up. What’s new?

This year, I hope you have a fantastic time at this very important event, and that you get to celebrate music that’s been specially released for you.

Very best wishes,

Kate”

The Best Time To Release Your Music (Other Than, Of Course, Anytime!)

0

One question I get a lot is, ‘When is the best time to release music?’ My answer is usually the same – anytime! But each month offers its own unique blend of weather, mood, and cultural festivities. For musicians and music lovers alike, this diversity offers an opportunity to release music with the changing months. Keep in mind, anytime is still good, but these angles and ideas might give you a bit of an edge.

January:
As the calendar for another year, January beckons a sense of renewal and introspection. It’s a time for contemplation, setting intentions, and embracing change. Songs released in January should reflect themes of reflection, hope, and fresh beginnings. Acoustic ballads, soulful melodies, and uplifting anthems resonate well with audiences seeking inspiration for the year ahead.

February:
Ah, February, the month of love and passion. With Valentine’s Day at its heart, this month pulsates with romance and sentimentality. Songs released in February should evoke emotions of love, longing, and devotion. From tender serenades to heart-pounding beats, this is the time for artists to capture the essence of amour in their music.

March:

Songs released in March should mirror this sense of vibrancy and renewal. Upbeat tunes, catchy melodies, and songs that celebrate life and new beginnings thrive in this season of change.

April:
April showers bring May flowers, they say (or sing!), and this month teems with the promise of growth and regeneration. Songs released in April should capture this duality – from reflective ballads that mirror the pitter-patter of raindrops to upbeat tracks that celebrate the emergence of life from the earth.

Songs released in July should reflect the spirit of celebration and camaraderie. Up-tempo tracks, anthems of unity, and songs that ignite the soul are the perfect soundtrack for this month of revelry.

August:
In August, the dog days of summer linger, inviting lazy afternoons and sultry evenings. It’s a time for relaxation, reflection, and savoring the final moments of the season. Songs released in August should capture the laid-back vibe of summer’s end. Mellow tunes, acoustic serenades, and songs that evoke nostalgia resonate with listeners as they bid farewell to the sun-drenched days.

From introspective ballads to anthems of empowerment, this is the month for artists to explore the depths of the human experience.

October:
With the arrival of October, the world transforms into a canvas of spooky stuff. It’s a month of mystery, magic, and the allure of the unknown. Songs released in October should embrace themes of darkness, enchantment, and transformation. Haunting melodies, eerie soundscapes, and songs that embrace the spirit of Halloween captivate audiences during this bewitching month.

Taya Mori Gets Personal On Her New Single “Mo’s Life”

Breathtaking and soulful Canadian recording artist, Taya Mori shares “Mo’s Life”, the 2nd single from her forthcoming debut EP, LUCID… “Mo’s Life” is all about acceptance and choosing yourself despite your flaws. The Euro Visa Visa produced track has a versatile upbeat yet chill vibe; perfect for a sunny day in the park or a gloomy Sunday at home… Following the early success of her first single “In Advance”, Taya is on course to deliver her debut EP, LUCID, very soon and cannot wait to share it with the World…

LUCID is an experimental project, playing around with sounds to create this sort of utopic environment — what it sounds like being alone floating on a cloud, lying on a lily pad, or in a bed of roses. The project is an emotional journey about questioning your sanity, and what it means to be alone and live for yourself truly. From leaving lovers, questioning your choices, and choosing to stay a fantasy — all to remain in control, in solitude and reassured by the wind, that you’re never truly alone.

“This EP was heavily inspired by the breakup I was going through while writing these songs. Breakups fucking suck and they suck even harder when no one does anything wrong and you have to make a decision based on your needs to propel you forward. It’s too easy to lose yourself in relationships, and that was exactly what was happening. Ultimately, I wanted to reclaim the person I was when I was/am alone. Alone and entirely pouring into myself and what that felt like. I missed that. I love that. I love being alone! The EP’s outro, “Flower Girl”, circles back to that initial jump scare you get when you make a life-altering decision, like leaving your lover of 2+ years… We are never truly alone, we are constantly surrounded by so much love and beauty! Go outside and stand in the trees. Listen to the wind. You are most definitely not alone!”

Taya Mori is a multifaceted Canadian singer-songwriter, model, and actress. Emerging from the ether, Taya has recently relocated to Vancouver, where she focuses primarily on her passion for expression. Alongside her youthful aura, “staying in one place for too long stagnates the mind,” and “experience makes life worth living” are enlightenments that Taya continues to apply throughout her life to keep every day full of inspiration. Heavily influenced by Blues and Jazz music, holding notes of Amy Winehouse, writers like Billie Holiday and Adele close to her heart — Taya and her sweet yet sultry vocals look forward to writing more ballads, bringing a sense of vulnerability, and applying live instruments to captivate listeners all over the World.
