0

Today, critically acclaimed K-Pop powerhouses ITZY announce their return to the global stage for ITZY 2ND WORLD TOUR , a show stopping run of electrifying performances across 18 countries in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Europe and North America this spring and summer. Having demonstrated their exceptional skills as “stage masters” through a mix of hit songs and B-side tracks on their sold out 2022 outing, ITZY THE 1ST WORLD TOUR , the group’s expanded 2024 world tour is poised to uphold their reputation during their return to North America and Asia. ITZY 2ND WORLD TOUR will also feature the group’s highly anticipated first performances in Latin America, UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Produced by JYP Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation, the 27-city tour kicks off on February 24 & 25 for a two-night run at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium then proceeds around the world to Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, Chile, the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Japan, the US, Canada, Taiwan and the Philippines. The tour will wrap up with a final performance in Hong Kong. Full dates can be found below.

ITZY’s loyal army of fans, known as MIDZY, will see the first live performance of the group’s latest mini-album BORN TO BE, which was released earlier this month via JYP Entertainment/IMPERIAL/Republic Records. Featuring 10 new tracks, including their current title track UNTOUCHABLE, “BORN TO BE” not only marks the group’s first release in 2024, but continues to underscore their global reach, with the album debuting at #1 the worldwide iTunes chart across 23 overseas regions, including the United States, Brazil, Thailand, France, and Australia. Continuing to encapsulate messages of freedom and self-love, core identities of the group since their 2019 debut, the album also marks a monumental moment for ITZY, as it features solo songs from each member for the first time in the groups’ history. Each member contributed to the composition of each solo track, showcasing their musical competency, and asserting themselves as bold creative forces.

The BORN TO BE mini-album comes on the heels of their release of the same name in addition to their solo songs all of which were released with solo videos that currently hold approximately 21.1 million views collectively. BORN TO BE also follows the group’s previous mini-album KILL MY DOUBT, which features tracks such as “Bet On Me,” “None of My Business,” and fan favorite, “CAKE”, Their upcoming world tour will fully cater to fans’ setlist desires with new music and beloved hits.

ormed under K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment in 2019, ITZY exploded on to the K-Pop scene with their debut single “DALLA DALLA.” The track ranked #3 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart and pulled in 17.1 million “day-of” music video views on YouTube. At the time, the song both broke the record for the most viewed K-pop debut music video in history and held the record for the fastest K-Pop debut music video to reach 100 million views. Billboard Magazine ranked “DALLA DALLA” at #20 on the “25 Best K-pop Songs of 2019: Critics’ Pick” and the group took home the Best New Artist Award at the 2020 Korean Music Awards. The group’s follow-up EP “WANNABE,” charted at #4 on the Song Sales chart and was one of the top 10 K-pop song to trend globally on Spotify, while also ranking on the Emerging Artists chart where it hit #31. ITZY’s third album, Not Shy, peaked on the Billboard Social 50 chart at #11 and World Album chart at #8, plus, their past albums, IT’z ICYand IT’z ME both entered the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart.

ITZY kicked off 2021 with their first national U.S. broadcast appearance on MTV’s Fresh Out Live, racking in the largest performance views MTV had received for the platform. Then, in May, the group made their debut on the Billboard 200 album chart with their six-track EP GUESS WHO, which they followed up with their full-length studio debut, CRAZY IN LOVE. The album took the #1 spot across multiple Billboard charts, including Top Album Sales, Top Current Album Sales, and World Albums charts, and made a strong debut on Billboard’s Top 200-album chart where it reached #11, making ITZY only the third female K-pop group to score within the chart’s top 15. The album’s lead track, “LOCO,” which they performed on The Kelly Clarkson Show, reached #4 Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales. The track’s official music video also made a big splash, crossing one million views within 26 minutes of its release on YouTube, and it was nominated for a 2022 MTV VMA for “Best K-Pop.”

Last summer, ITZY released their 5th mini album, CHECKMATE. The EP took the #8 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the group’s first top-10 ranking on the chart. Further, the group became the 4th K-pop girl group to achieve a top 10 ranking on the Billboard 200. The group performed the EP’s lead track, “SNEAKERS,” on both MTV’s Fresh Out Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show Me Music.”ITZY closed out the year with their sixth EP CHESHIRE and their first world tour – the CHECKMATE tour – in which the group played eight sold-out venues across the US, including Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater and New York’s Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. In July of 2023, ITZY released their seventh EP KILL MY DOUBT, which features tracks “Bet On Me,” “None of My Business,” and fan favorite, “CAKE”.

High Fidelity: Belfast’s Unquiet Nights Back Up Their Promises On Latest Single “Diamond And The Missing Son”

0

Let other groups hamstring themselves with irony and self-conscious cynicism. Belfast’s Unquiet Nights are going all-in on sincerity with “Diamond and the Missing Son,” the fervently rocking spotlight track from their just-released third studio album, Seasons in Exile.

You can’t get more direct than singer/guitarist/songwriter Luke Mathers as his blessedly unaffected voice emits an anthem of solidarity that feels as earnest as a pinky swear:

You are the only thing that keeps me hanging on
And on and on
There’s nothing else could ever come between us
‘Cause we are
The diamond and the missing son

It’s immediate, irresistible stuff—so much so that you can listen a few times before you realize you aren’t sure what the song is actually about. Is it a promise from a father to his literal son? Maybe an oath of fealty sworn by best mates, like Mathers and his stalwart partner, drummer Rodger Firmin? A tip of the hat to their sometime musical collaborator, Francesco Piciucchi? Given the recurring appearances of studio tuxedo cat Whitesocks in the song’s suitably stripped-down black-and-white performance video, there might be another, more stealthily whimsical option.

What makes the track so quintessentially Unquiet Nights is that they’re a group everybody claims to get but nobody can seem to pin down. In their time, they’ve been compared to artists ranging from Tom Petty to The Vines to Bloc Party (for whom they’ve indeed opened). For their part, the band calls their sound “a distinctive blend of classic rock influences with elements of prog, folk, Britpop and Roy Orbison.” Sure, that clears it up.

Whatever it is, you know it when you hear it. A track like “Diamond and the Missing Son” forges an instant impression with indelible hooks, muscular drumming and full-bodied guitar that makes sophisticated use of multitracking without ever coming off as cluttered. Mathers even gets off a few measures of nimble slide. Elsewhere on the album, songs like “Break Through the Waves” exhibit a more plaintive and mournful quality without sacrificing an iota of energy.

Recorded predominantly at the band’s own studio, the recently built Credential Sound, the album furthers the reputation for faith-restoring rock they’ve enjoyed with tastemakers and fans alike since they first emerged from a rehearsal space above Belfast’s famous Limelight club. In the ensuing decade, they’ve appeared on stages in nine countries and released three albums and four standalone singles. Praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and ex-Wallflowers bassist Greg Richling has boosted their profile, but what may have been the group’s biggest breakthrough came when their track “George Best City”—which references the late and legendary football player for Manchester United—got used in a Sky Italia sports documentary that was played hundreds of times.

And now we have Seasons in Exile—which despite its typically assured sheen was a more impromptu affair than these Nights are used to. The ball started rolling when Mathers and Firmin went into the studio to rework “Diamond and the Missing Son,” an old number from the recesses of their repertoire. Just a few marathon late-night sessions later, they had the guide tracks to an entire new album.

“We do think that this has been a very worthwhile experiment in starting the process without many full songs,” Mather says. “We hope the album pleases the people who stuck with us this long.”

Promises made, promises kept. How very on-brand.

Toronto-Based Singer-Songwriter The M.A.S. Project Drops Powerful New Single “Scared Fearless”

0

Calgary-born, Toronto-based singer-songwriter and pianist, Michael Anthony Sawers, solo artist of The M.A.S. Project, has released his latest single, “Scared Fearless” – available now.

This powerful and emotionally charged new song explores Sawers’ journey. Filled with heartfelt lyrics and dynamic melodies, it serves as a moving portrayal of overcoming his struggles with OCD and his therapeutic process.

“Scared Fearless is a song I wrote about going through something very difficult – therapy!” says Sawers. “I have OCD, so this is a song about facing these OCD fears head-on until my brain is so desensitized to them that I’ve been scared into feeling fearless about them.”

The multi-talented pop, rock, and country artist, who now resides in Toronto, recorded “Scared Fearless” in a converted church that was used as a recording studio not far from the city.

“Despite the heaviness of the song, making ‘Scared Fearless’ was actually really fun” Sawers explains. “There is an old church near Toronto that was refurbished into a recording studio. We recorded all day there, with light shining on us from the stained-glass window – it was a special experience!”

“Scared Fearless” continues The M.A.S. Project’s successful track record, demonstrating Sawers’ versatility in a variety of musical styles. His infectious pop anthem, “Something Real” and his country-pop track “Giving Love a Try” are well-known to fans with the former being added to Spotify’s prestigious “New Music Friday Canada” playlist.

Sawers, the Calgarian musician, creates music that appeals to listeners all over the world by fusing modern production methods with retro inspirations. A debut performance at Massey Hall in 2024 and headline appearances at prestigious Toronto venues including The Drake Hotel are just a couple of the accolades he has received for his music.

Canadian Pop Sensation Sunny Stone Releases ‘MEMORY’: A Melodic Journey of Nostalgia and Reflection

0

Music can shape lives through the simple thought of it. That is how Mississauga, ON pop singer Sunny Stone, a new voice in Canada, lives life. From the peaceful village of Kondapi, nestled in the heart of Andhra Pradesh, India, SunnyStone’s musical journey takes flight.

From modest origins, Sunny Stone’s journey from a small-town enthusiast to a blossoming musical talent in Canada is truly remarkable. At just 14 years old, Sunny Stone unearthed his musical gift while singing in the corridors of PPS, his school in Andhra Pradesh.

Though met with opposition from his family, he remained determined, finding encouragement and support from teachers who helped him develop his musical abilities.

Despite trying to focus on another career, he found himself thinking about life and listening to “Do or Die – Remix by Thirty Seconds to Mars & Afrojack” and suddenly decided that was the moment to change his life. “I need to become a Pop singer and I want to move to any English-speaking country so I can do that”, he mentions.

Calling Canada home since 2019, Sunny Stone wasted no time in honing his craft, enrolling in vocal training under the tutelage of Pete Palazzolo at the Canadian Conservatory of Music in Windsor. This marked the inception of a remarkable metamorphosis – from a Masters’ student by day to a burgeoning musician by night.

After completing his training, Sunny Stone’s creativity was heightened, leading to the release of three cover songs on YouTube. Building on this momentum, he showcased his talent to the world with his debut single, “Make You Feel,” followed by the heartfelt release of “End To My Love.”

Now Sunny Stone welcomes his 3rd single “MEMORY”, a melodic exploration of nostalgia and introspection.

“While driving one day, the hook “Like A Memory, Like A Memory, Like A Memory…” struck me. A few days later, during a late-night drive from downtown Toronto to my home in Etobicoke, I found myself halted at numerous red lights, feeling frustrated by the repetitive pause. It dawned on me that I wanted to craft a song about this experience, to tell its story,” he says.

Starting with just a hook, the song grew into a personal reflection on resilience. Inspired by the serene moments of everyday life, its creation amidst the gentle glow of stoplights shows Sunny Stone’s appreciation for life’s small pleasures.

‘When I was driving on the road
I saw the redlight stopping me
When I was living alone
I felt like someone was watching me
Whenever I wanna skip this track
There’s something else dragging me
Like a memory

While thinking about the lyrics, Sunny Stone thought about his own memories back home, all the difficulties he encountered in his path, and all the dreams he has yet to accomplish. Combined with a melody that can only be described as enlightening the feeling of nostalgia, “MEMORY” will make you think about your very own memories.

Release The Sounds: Hit Artists Share Their Stories On ‘Let That Music Out!’ Podcast

2

In the music business, few things are as helpful as an example. That’s the rationale behind Let That Music Out! — an independent, artist-driven FM radio show and podcast that offers an invaluable and enlightening look into the workings of the industry circa 2024.

Based in Toronto and syndicated on Indie 101.5 and Philly Jamz 95.3 in the U.S.A., and CHHA 1610am back home, LTMO! features new music releases, interviews, discussions, and personal stories from industry leaders and recording artists. It’s analysis with an insider edge, crafted for anybody who wants to get in the game.

The show was made possible by the successes of The Singer’s Company, a record label, music-publishing operation and management firm founded by a dream team of music-biz pros—including highly pedigreed producer, songwriter and A&R executive Roy Hamilton III, for whom the program is both a passion project and the fulfillment of a personal vision.

“My hope for this show is to create an international outlet and radio story for each and every one of the artists who have chosen The Singer’s Company to help them launch their professional music careers,” Hamilton says.

The seed of the program was Welcome to Modern Artist Development, a handbook Hamilton wrote and published that lays out a simple path aspiring singers, songwriters and recording artists can follow to get their music out and achieve their dreams and professional goals. The book even inspired an uplifting theme song, “Let That Music Out!”; featuring singer/actor Nia Holloway on vocals, it’s currently available on all streaming platforms.

If anybody is qualified to lead such discussions, it’s Hamilton, a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated talent whose achievements in the pop and R&B fields are legion. Over the last two decades, he’s discovered and helped shape the musical careers of numerous chart-topping singers, songwriters and producers. His skills and abilities have helped sell over 70 million albums worldwide for artists like Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Ariana Grande, and labels including Capitol Records, RCA Records and the Universal Music Group. He’s also the grandson of legendary singer Roy Hamilton, who scored Number One R&B hits with renditions of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Unchained Melody.”

Lawrence Plots 2024 With New Album ‘Family Business’ And Biggest Headline Tour Yet

0

Lawrence — the 8-piece band fronted by siblings Gracie and Clyde Lawrence — is gearing up for a tremendous 2024. Today they have announced that they will be releasing their fourth studio album, Family Business, later this year, and will celebrate it with their biggest-ever headlining tour for this spring and summer. The 40-date international Family Business Tour includes iconic venues Radio City Music Hall on September 19 and the Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 9. Family Business is the follow-up to 2021’s Hotel TV and more details, new music and release date will be announced soon.

Today’s announcement arrives on the heels of a just-completed 65-date stadium tour with the Jonas Brothers that launched with two hometown shows at Yankee Stadium last summer and concluded at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in December. Along the way Lawrence shared two new singles, “i’m confident that i’m insecure” and “23,” as well as their trademark “acoustic-ish” renditions of both tracks. They also released an 8-part docuseries on YouTube that captures the highlights and challenges of a proudly DIY organization of eight longtime friends staging their first headline tour following the COVID-19 shutdown. Additional episodes will be released this year. Appearances tied to the new music and Jonas Brothers tour include the Zach Sang Show and Tamron Hall, performing “23” at Jingle Ball, and features with Seventeen, Access, Entertainment Tonight, New York Post, and WNYC.

Lawrence has captivated and built a huge audience of die-hard fans with a distinct sound rooted in classic artists like Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman and Aretha Franklin, spun together with a high-energy pop edge. Their clever and brilliantly-crafted original songs are driven by Clyde’s keyboards, raspy voice, a rowdy horn section and Gracie’s vocals soaring on top. A beloved live band, Lawrence brings a party to the stage: a fun, full-throttle experience full of musical fireworks.

Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are a New York City-raised sibling duo that have been writing songs and playing together since early childhood. What started out as a duo turned into an eight-piece band of musician friends from childhood and college. Lawrence has reached remarkable heights, including performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Today Show and NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly, and the first band to release music on Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/artist Jon Bellion’s label. Their 2021 album Hotel TV has over 60 million streams on Spotify, and tens of millions of streams across all major platforms. The album’s lead single, “Don’t Lose Sight,” hit #33 on Top 40 radio and was played on over 100 multi-format stations across the country. They’ve also played major festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Firefly, Okeechobee, Hangout, Summerfest, and sold out three consecutive nights at Brooklyn Steel in 2022, their first-ever Lawrence festival featuring special guests and non-repeating sets, deemed “Staycation.” Clyde also made international headlines when he testified before a Senate hearing on the ticketing industry in January of 2023.

In addition to the band, Clyde and Gracie have also amassed considerable resumes with other artistic pursuits. Clyde has written songs and score for film and television, including Disney’s Noelle (2019), Steven Spielberg’s Animaniacs (2020), Landline (2017), The Rewrite (2015), Music and Lyrics (2007), and even Miss Congeniality (2000), for which he wrote the theme song at age 6. Gracie is an accomplished actress, appearing most recently in the Showtime drama Billions and the CBS All-Access murder mystery One Dollar. Gracie has also appeared on Broadway in Brighton Beach Memoirs (2009), in films such as The Sitter (2011) and Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009), and in TV shows including The Good Wife (2012), The Americans (2014), and Younger (2015).

Dave Matthews Band Announces U.S. Summer Tour

0

Following a 14-country spring tour of Europe and the U.K., Dave Matthews Band will launch an extensive U.S. summer outing on May 22 in Tampa, FL at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre. The headline run will bring the band back to some of fans’ favorite venues, including Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI (June 21 and 22), Broadview Stage at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, NY (July 5 and 6) and The Gorge in George, WA (August 30-September 1), where the band traditionally celebrates Labor Day weekend and has sold out each of its previous 70 shows. With the summer tour, Dave Matthews Band will be introducing new sustainability measures as part of its “On The Road To Zero Waste” initiative – a partnership with Live Nation.

Named as a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador in 2019, Dave Matthews Band has a long history of reducing its environmental footprint. This summer, the band is partnering with Live Nation’s operated venues to minimize the concerts’ footprint even further – with the goal to divert at least 90% of fan-generated waste from landfills. Leveraging its existing leading sustainability resources, Live Nation will support the concerts’ goal by providing zero waste green teams, zero waste stations, food donations, waste sorting, composting and the use of minimal single-use plastic. Fans are encouraged to check venue websites for details closer to the tour dates. This year’s continued partnership with The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign will bring the total to five million trees planted since DMB teamed up with TNC in 2020 to support reforestation. For additional details, visit www.dmbtrees.org. Dave Matthews Band will offset carbon emissions for band/fan travel with the assistance of REVERB, who will also produce the tour’s annual eco-village.

Dave Matthews Band has sold a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined and more than 25 million tickets since inception, making them the second largest ticket-seller in history. The band’s new album, Walk Around The Moon, is available HERE. Pitchfork praised the album’s “tight-knit, tender songs.” Associated Press noted, “‘Walk Around the Moon’ is a varied set, with the tracks veering from small and intimate to brassy and political, with a filthy groove propelling ‘Break Free,’ a nostalgia-tinged and brooding ‘Monsters’ and the band absolutely cooking with ‘The Only Thing.’”

Pixies And Modest Mouse Team Up Again For Co-Headline Tour With Cat Power For Summer 2024 Dates

0

Today, indie rock titans Pixies and Modest Mouse announced their 2024 co-headline tour across North America with special guest Cat Power joining on all upcoming dates. Produced by Live Nation, the 23-date run kicks off on Friday, May 31 in Charleston, SC at Firefly Distillery, with stops in Charlotte, Nashville, Toronto, Queens, Chicago, Austin and more before wrapping up on Sunday, June 30 in Denver, CO at Fiddler’s Green.

The 2024 tour follows the highly successful sold-out 2023 run featuring all three acts, which concluded in San Diego this past September. The 2023 tour included an epic Hollywood Bowl performance in Los Angeles and multiple nights at Pier 17 in New York, along with stops in Napa, Bridgeport, Vail, Seattle and more.

Pixies have been acclaimed as the most influential, pioneering band of the late 80s alt/rock movement, having served as a major influence for artists like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, the Strokes, Weezer, and many more. And today, a whole new generation of music fans has been discovering and embracing the band’s “loudquietloud” signature sound. Quirky, catchy melodies have always been Pixies’ calling card; seven genre-defining studio albums, including the Gold-certified Surfer Rosa, and the iconic Platinum Doolittle, considered one of the all-time, quintessential alt/rock albums. Sell-out crowds all over the globe, Pixies’ live shows are unadulterated magic, simultaneously electrifying and lo-fi. Seventy-five minutes of the band playing anything they want, in whatever order they want, the classics and the new gems. And no two Pixies shows are ever the same.

Having recently completed a sold out 25th anniversary tour for their breakthrough album, 1997’s The Lonesome Crowded West and played a summer ’23 run with Pixies and Cat Power, Modest Mouse continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today. Modest Mouse released their highly anticipated new album, The Golden Casket, on June 25, 2021 via Epic Records. The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY Award-nominated multi platinum band’s unpredictable evolution. Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse’s studio in Portland, the album hovers in the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from the degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology, to fatherhood. The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in Brock’s head.

With a catalogue of songwriting that’s unparalleled in the worlds of indie rock and American music at large—spanning several decades and ten studio albums—Marshall’s work as Cat Power has defied genre and convention, her legacy rippling through the work of a wide range of contemporary musical luminaries ranging from Lana Del Rey, Clairo, and Soccer Mommy to Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Angel Olsen. There’s a rawness and immediacy to Marshall’s music that has stood the test of time, with every new musical missive from her as essential as what’s come before it.
