Incubus Announces 2024 Arena Tour Performing The Iconic Album “Morning View” In Its Entirety Plus The Hits

0

Today, Incubus announced their 2024 US Arena tour, performing their iconic album “Morning View” in its entirety, plus the hits featuring special guests Coheed and Cambria. Produced by Live Nation, the 10-city ARENA tour kicks off on August 23 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit making stops across the U.S. in New York, Tampa, Austin and more before wrapping up in San Francisco at Chase Center on September 12.

Incubus originally released their critically acclaimed studio album Morning View on October 23, 2001, and were met with an outpouring of love and acclaim from fans and industry alike. The album has been RIAA certified double Platinum and spent 60 weeks on the Billboard 200 peaking at number 2.

On October 6, 2023, the band announced the re-recording and re-release of the acclaimed double album entitled Morning View XXIII (Virgin Music Group), which is set for an album release date of May 10th, 2024.

“Roughly 23 years ago we rented a house at the sea to do an art experiment. The novel and expansive environment combined with a healthy dose of momentum helped us find that ever sought after FLOW state and the songs that became known as ‘Morning View’ have since become indelible and deeply important parts of our lives,” said Brandon Boyd.

“This album helped propel our little art experiment called ‘Incubus’ into a way of life and here we are today, some 23 years later, about to introduce a new/next phase of it’s existence. ‘Morning View xxiii’ is a re-recording/re-think of the 2001 album and is the result of our desire to honor this burgeoning legacy but also reimagine it as musicians who have been lovingly performing these songs night after night for the last 23 years. See you on the road soon!”

As a sonic and spiritual enigma, Incubus continue to stretch, shape, and shake the foundation of alternative music, embracing endless possibilities and eclipsing any and all boundaries in the process. The multiplatinum Los Angeles band—Brandon Boyd [vocals], Mike Einziger [guitar, piano, backing vocals], José Pasillas II [drums], Chris Kilmore [turntables, keyboards], and Nicole Row [bass]—tune into the creative exchange between them and beam it back to audiences as loudly (and lovingly) as possible. To date, the quintet have notably sold over 23 million albums, scored dozens of multi-platinum and platinum certifications around the globe, gathered billions of streams, and notched six consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard 200. At the same time, they have graced the bills of festivals such as BottleRock, Ohana, Lollapalooza, and Rock In Rio in addition to headlining arenas and amphitheaters worldwide. During 2021, the musicians celebrated the 20th anniversary of their seminal double-platinum third full-length offering, Morning View, with a worldwide livestream. Incubus returned to the house where they famously recorded the album and performed the entire tracklisting from front-to-back for the first time. It incited a rapturous fan response, and the band decided to do it again in October 2023. The group sold out the legendary Hollywood Bowl and performed Morning View in front of a hometown audience, unassumingly kickstarting another era. Between launching a massive US Morning View arena tour in 2024, they ignite the next phase of Incubus with Morning View XXIII and more new music on the horizon. So, are you in?

My Next Read: “A Kiss Across The Ocean: Transatlantic Intimacies of British Post-Punk and US Latinidad” By Richard T. Rodríguez

0
In A Kiss across the Ocean Richard T. Rodríguez examines the relationship between British post-punk musicians and their Latinx audiences in the United States since the 1980s. Melding memoir with cultural criticism, Rodríguez spotlights a host of influential bands and performers including Siouxsie and the Banshees, Adam Ant, Bauhaus, Soft Cell, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Pet Shop Boys. He recounts these bands’ importance for him and other Latinx kids and discusses their frequent identification with these bands’ glamorous performance of difference. Whether it was Siouxsie Sioux drawing inspiration from Latinx contemporaries and cultural practices or how Soft Cell singer Marc Almond’s lyrics were attuned to the vibrancy of queer Latinidad, Rodríguez shows how Latinx culture helped shape British post-punk. He traces the fandom networks that link these groups across space and time to illuminate how popular music establishes and facilitates intimate relations across the Atlantic. In so doing, he demonstrates how the music and styles that have come to define the 1980s hold significant sway over younger generations equally enthused by their matchlessly pleasurable and political reverberations.

Travis Denning Announces Debut Album ‘Roads That Go Nowhere’ Coming May 24

0

Mercury Nashville recording artist Travis Denning is releasing his debut album, Roads That Go Nowhere, on May 24. The Paul DiGiovanni and Jeremy Stover produced album features 15 tracks, 12 of which were co-written by Denning. It also includes features by HARDY and Josh Ross. The title track, “Roads That Go Nowhere,” written by Denning, Ben Foster and James McNair, is out today.

“‘Roads That Go Nowhere’ is a culmination of songs and stories that I really believe reflect where I’ve come from, what I’ve been through, and the places I’ve yet to go and where I want to go,” said Denning. “That’s with love, music, life, everything. I’m at that point in my life where I’m able to look back and reflect on the things that have gotten me here. A lot of them are positive and there are some negatives for sure. But I think that’s kind of everybody’s goal is to be able to look back and just be happy with the progress they’ve made and the potential they’ve still got. I wanted to take that mindset lyrically and production wise for the record that I’ve gotten to where I am, and I’ve had the successes I’ve had because I just stuck to the guns of what I enjoy doing. That’s being a guitar player, it’s trying to moonlight as a metalhead in country music and telling the stories about the things I have conviction about.”

Denning has tour dates through the fall. This spring and summer, he will support HARDY on his Quit!! tour.

A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, singer/songwriter and Mercury Nashville recording artist Travis Denning first made waves with the release of his Top 40 debut single “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs,” which has also been certified Gold by the RIAA. Denning celebrated his first No.1 and Platinum certified single with the “shadowy” (Rolling Stone) “After A Few,” from his debut EP Beer’s Better Cold, which debuted in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Country Albums chart. Last summer Denning released the EP, Might As Well Be Me. Crafted for the stage with all of Denning’s hard-charging energy and mischief-making signatures intact, the collection also captures an artist maturing. Denning’s songwriting extends to other artists – he has co-written for Morgan Wallen, Chase Rice, Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Michael Ray and he has a cut on the latest Morgan Wallen album, “Devil Don’t Know.” Denning has previously headlined his own “Heartbeat Of A Small Town Tour,” toured with Brother’s Osborne, Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch, Alan Jackson, Riley Green, Dierks Bentley and Jake Owen and will be on the road this spring touring with HARDY. With almost 750 million streams worldwide, Denning has been spotlighted for his head-turning sound and is making his mark withing the industry, being previously selected as one of CRS New Faces, an Opry NextStage recipient and a CMA KixStart Artist.

Medium Build Announces His Upcoming Album ‘Country’ To Release April 5th

0

Medium Build, the singer-songwriter born Nick Carpenter, announces his forthcoming album Country, due April 5 via slowplay/Island Records/Universal Music Canada, and shares the lead single which is out now. “Cutting Thru The Country” sets the tone for the album — in the song, Nick grapples with emotions big and small while driving across the country, something he did a few times during the making of this album.

Talking about the making of the song, Medium Build says, “This was the only song I wrote while Jake and I were in the studio. In august, while I was driving from Alaska to Nashville, I started a little poem. I wanted it to feel like an Earl Sweatshirt song. Just bars no chorus no melody. We found an old keyboard and plugged it in. Found some wild tones and I did like 6 takes of the vocal. Probably the easiest tune we made on the album.”

Country comes as Medium Build grapples with the meaning of home— he splits time between Anchorage, Alaska, where he’s become something of a hometown hero these last few years, and Nashville, where he’s close to his southern roots, and everywhere he travels in between. Country is about the journey (both physically & mentally) Nick’s been on to this point; it’s about high-highs and low-lows, and you can feel Nick wrestle with the good and the bad on each of the album’s 12 songs.

In his own words, Medium Build says of Country:

“I started Medium Build in 2015 with a tape deck and some borrowed adderall. Over the near decade since, Medium Build, being a storage facility for my fears, hopes, and romantic ongoings, has weathered some serious waves. So have I.

I wanted this album to have my goddamn DNA on it. You can hear my necklace crackle in the guitar takes of “Crying Over u”. You can hear Colyer’s dog ripping a squeak toy in “Hey Sandra”. I hear Cece smiling when she sang “Relief,” back in the studio with her besties after a weird long summer of recording with strangers. I wanted Country to have a human touch. I want Country to be something you love with and dance with and cry with and sleep with and lean into. You know what I’m fucking talking about?”

The announcement of Country arrives as Medium Build supports singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone across sold out dates in the EU/UK in February and March. In April, he will support country star Tyler Childers at sold-out arena shows in California. He was recently announced to perform at Bonnaroo 2024 and will embark on headlining dates in the spring — his headlining dates were just announced and he’s already sold out shows in both DC & NYC with new nights added. Please see all Medium Build tour dates here. Medium Build was recently honored on NIVA’s 2024 Live List and landed a coveted spot on Zane Lowe’s Artist To Watch in 2024 list. He’s also become a favorite among the creative community with co-signs from John Mayer, Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, and Lewis Capaldi (who he’s been tour support for).

The Medium Build style is open-ended, playing with acoustic and electronic textures in equal measure. He can inspire you to get down like a dancefloor messiah, with an effortless funkiness underlined by his sensitive falsetto, but the hushed whisper he sometimes sings in makes you feel like you’re the only one in the room. His voice aches with a trembling vulnerability, and there’s intentionality and emotional resonance in every word he sings. His work eagerly draws outside the clear lines of genre binaries, informed by his own personal exploration of queerness and sexual identity, drawing from classic country, ‘80s new wave, and emo in equal measure.

Kanii, Riovaz, And Nimstarr Drop Ambitious New Collaborative EP As ‘The Heart Racers’

0

Today, genre-blending artists Kanii, Riovaz, and Nimstarr join forces as ‘The Heart Racers’ to drop the aptly titled The Heart Racers EP, a new collaborative project coated in soaring vocals, unfiltered emotion, and a dynamically retro style. Listen HERE via Masked Records/Warner Records.

Checking in at four tracks, the EP sees the three vocalists swerve between aesthetics and sensations for passionate songs that are as heartfelt as they are infectious. For “tell me,” they traverse new wave production for a rumination on damaged romance and personal catharsis. Coasting over the soaring soundscape, Kanii lets loose lyrics that feel like loving surrender: “I’ve been battling my demons, girl — hopefully I win this time.”

The vibes only grow more immersive from as displayed on “diva,” where they combine their voices and a four-on-the-floor drum pattern fit for any dance-party. Meanwhile, “heart racing” trades steamy impulse for a lover’s anxiety, and “lost without you” blends gleaming ’80s R&B with disembodied melody and impending heartbreak. Refined, yet uninhibited — of the past, future and present — The Heart Racers is a shapeshifting showcase for young artists who learned from their forebears while creating artistic wavelengths all their own.

“It’s the start of something fresh and exciting,” Kanii says of the collaborative project. It’s a sentiment shared by Riovaz. “This project is a clear example of what we’re all capable of as a group,” he says. Nimstarr then hints that it might not be the last time the trio joins forces. “It’s a nice intro to our potential and what we can do as a boy band.”

The Heart Racers is just the latest sign of Kanii’s all-around ability — lithe vocals and a stylistic malleability that enable him to shift between themes, textures and sensations with languid ease. It follows the November release of it was nice knowing u, a virtuosic EP coated in transparency, romance and kaleidoscopic production. With his refined songwriting technique and all around dexterity, the project has already picked up millions of streams, building off the success of his exiit, a project he released last June.

His RIAA Gold-Certified viral hit “I Know” entered the Billboard Hot 100 last spring, while “I Know (PRISVX Edit)” climbed into the Top 50 of the US Spotify Chart and Top 120 of the Global Spotify Chart, amassing north of 264M global streams. To date, Kanii has earned over 512M global streams and has been covered by Rolling Stone, UPROXX, Wonderland, Lyrical Lemonade, People, and more.

Fans can see Kanii’s expansive skillset in full effect when he accompanies PinkPantheress as main support on her forthcoming US Tour. Additionally, he is scheduled to play Rolling Loud in Inglewood, CA, on March 15th. From the charts to the stage, Kanii is in the middle of a level-up that’s poised to continue.

D.C.-born singer Kanii is focused on the future. Though he’s just graduated high school, he’s looking ahead to where his boundary-pushing music is taking him next with a fearless proclivity for new sounds and styles he might conquer. In doing so, Kanii continues to create energetic anthems like “I Know” from his debut EP exiit via Masked Records / Warner Records which became a cultural phenomenon amongst young people all over the world and is now RIAA Certified Gold status. On his new EP, it was nice knowing u, Kanii trades in dancefloor-ready beats and dynamic synth melodies to create addictive refractions of R&B. Kanii may still be a teenager, but he already displays the songwriting chops of a seasoned veteran. It’s a blend of old-school wisdom and new-school ingenuity, informed by the music he grew up listening to plus the digital recording software he taught himself to use. Kanii acknowledges his influences but refuses to be pigeonholed: He wants to be boundless. Throughout it was nice knowing u, Kanii shows he isn’t willing to rein himself in or commit to any one musical subgenre. His brilliance as a songwriter lies in his ability to fuse strands of pop, R&B, and jersey club—and all sorts of otherworldly sounds beyond that—into a style that feels informed by just about everything you can think of, while never sounding like any one thing in particular. He takes the familiar and makes it sound wholly new.

Renowned Producer Ikky Releases Anticipated New Electronic EP ‘Ikky’s House’

0

Renowned Punjabi producer Ikky has emerged as a driving force in advancing the South Asian music scene on a global scale with his innovative production style and genre-defying sounds. Today, he unveils his anticipated electronic/house EP Ikky’s House. The collection of five tracks push Ikky’s sound in a new direction and showcases his ability to blend traditional Punjabi and Hindi elements with dance floor ready grooves, UK garage vocals and house music influence.

Discussing the EP, Ikky explains, “Ikky’s house feels like the experiment I’ve always dreamt about. Every song is a different language, a different mood, all while maintaining cohesiveness as a whole project.’’ While staying true to his signature sound, the project pushes boundaries and traverses various genres. Notably, the EP features the previously released track “Ishq Hua” and showcases the vocal talents of emerging artists Uday Shergill and Sophia Fracassi on “Dushmani” and “Only Lover,” respectively.

Aside from his own released music, Ikky’s production has been lighting up the charts with his distinct brand of hip–hop, pop and Punjabi music, both at home and through the rest of the world. Last year, he served as the Executive Producer on Karan Aujla’s Making Memories album generating more than 405M streams worldwide. The album earned gold certification in Canada, debuted on Billboard #4 and soared to #3 on Spotify’s Global Top Album Charts, surpassing other renowned artists such as Russ, DannyLux, and Warren Zeiders.

Outside of production – Ikky has been hard at work with Warner Music Canada / Warner Music India on the imprint label 91 North as Creative Director. 91 North is a globally charged label bridging the gap between South Asian stars and the world. Ikky has already achieved so much but is just getting started.

Canadian producer and composer Ikky has been lighting up the charts with his distinct brand of hip–hop, pop and Punjabi music, both at home and through the rest of the world. The 23-year-old Canadian based artist has garnered over 4 billion streams across the globe with such career-defining hits as “Diamond” with Gurnam Bhullar, which has more than 600 million YouTube views until date; “Baller” with Shubh, which has over 100 million streams on Spotify alone; and the Billboard Canadian Top 20 charting “52 Bars” with Karan Aujla. Ikky recently became the first Punjabi artist ever to perform at the Calgary Stampede in July 2023. Followed was him becoming the top-leading nominated artist of the 2023 BritAsia awards as the executive producer of the global hit album, Making Memories, by Karan Aujla. He is also the co-founder of 4N (pronounced ‘foreign’) Records and its 4N Nights concert event series, which are a manifestation of his mission to showcase South Asian talent internationally. More recently, Ikky has been named Creative Director of 91 North Records, the new imprint under Warner Music Canada with an intention to bridge the gap between east and west. “I want to make sure that once the door opens for Punjabi music worldwide, it will flood the gates,” says Ikky.

Linkin Park Unveil Career-Spanning Album Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)

Assembling an essential collection of generational anthems, LINKIN PARK will present their first-ever career-spanning greatest hits album entitled Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) on April 12TH via Warner Records.

It will be available at all DSPs and in various physical configurations, including CD, Cassette, and double Vinyl. For the latter, there are several limited edition color vinyl variants, a Zoetrope picture disc and black vinyl.

The fan enthusiasm and fervor for both Hybrid Theory (20TH Anniversary Edition) in 2020 and Meteora (20TH Anniversary Edition) last year ultimately inspired the band to curate and carefully piece together what would become Papercuts. It offers a comprehensive retrospective of their journey so far in the span of one album highlighted by everything from “Crawling” and “Somewhere I Belong” to the sought-after rarity “QWERTY.”

In addition to the classics, LINKIN PARK uncovered the never-before-released track “Friendly Fire.” Recorded during the 2017 sessions for their seventh album One More Light, it features a powerhouse vocal performance from the late Chester Bennington. The video was directed and edited by long-time collaborator Mark Fiore and features never-before-seen studio and live footage – watch HERE. Cinematic keys and a delicate beat underline emotionally charged verses as humming guitar uplifts the introspective chorus, “We’re pulling apart for no reason, we’re pulling a trigger in a useless war…what are we fighting for.” It embodies the style, soul, and spirit of classic LP.

About “Friendly Fire” Brad Delson added, “‘Friendly Fire’ was always one of our favorite songs from the One More Light sessions. Something about it wasn’t quite right so as close as it got to the finish line, we chose to set it aside for later. When we started looking for an unreleased track to include on our greatest hits collection, I was blown away by the power of the song, the power of the storytelling, the power of the vocal, the sonic landscape and I actually thought that it was closer than maybe we had realized at the time.

We got together to work on it and connect some of the missing pieces that for whatever reason hadn’t revealed themselves during the recording of One More Light. I can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s such a beautiful, compelling, heartbreaking, hopeful story and it really resonates with me today.”

Said Mike Shinoda, “In the making of each Linkin Park album, I want to love and believe in each individual song completely. I hope that if any one track is heard on its own in the world, it is something I can feel proud of, and something that takes root inside the listener and becomes part of the energy that connects us.

Curating the tracks for Papercuts was a joy. Each song in this collection is both a singular moment on our timeline and an evolving story that is as much ours as it is yours. From our first release ‘One Step Closer’ to the brand-new ‘Friendly Fire,’ this tracklist spans all our chapters so far. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We hope you enjoy Papercuts.”

Additionally, “In The End” just achieved a Diamond Certification (10x Million) from the RIAA. It stands out as the band’s most-streamed song with over 1.8 billion Spotify streams and 1.7 billion YouTube views on the music video. This marks their first Diamond Certification for a single. It notably graces the tracklisting of their 12x-platinum Diamond-Certified full-length debut, Hybrid Theory.

In 2023, LINKIN PARK unleashed Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition. It soared to #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, Top Rock Albums Chart, Top Catalog Albums Chart, and Top Vinyl Albums Chart in addition to landing in the Top 3 of the Top Album Sales Chart and vaulting into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 at #8. Not to mention, the single “Lost” took flight as the biggest rock song of 2023 and earned the “first #1 debut on Billboard’s Rock & Alternative Airplay Chart in over a decade!” Simultaneously, it became the band’s highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 entry since 2012, bowing at #38! Thus far, it has amassed over 166 million Spotify streams and 78 million YouTube views on the stunning music video. Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition was chronicled and celebrated by The New York Times, The FADER, The Howard Stern Show, KROQ, and more.

LINKIN PARK emerged as an innovative musical force and one of the best-selling artists of the last twenty years. Their RIAA Diamond-certified full-length debut, Hybrid Theory, stands out as the “best selling debut of the 21st century,” while landmark sophomore album Meteora bowed at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 before going 8X-Platinum in the U.S. The band’s worldwide sales across the entire catalog eclipses 100 million, and among numerous accolades and honors, they have garnered 2 GRAMMY® Awards, 5 American Music Awards, 4 MTV VMA Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and 3 World Music Awards. Selling out stadiums worldwide, they’ve headlined global music festivals such as Download and Reading & Leeds in the UK, Rock in Rio in Portugal, Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany, and Summer Sonic in Japan. They also remain the first and only Western rock band to play a five-stadium tour in China. 2017’s Gold-certified One More Light marked their fifth #1 debut on the Billboard 200. In 2020, the band celebrated their groundbreaking debut album, Hybrid Theory, by releasing a comprehensive 20th anniversary edition super deluxe box set which features their RIAA Diamond-certified single “In The End.”. In 2023, the band released Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition, which topped the charts and featured the newly-uncovered song “Lost.” The emotionally charged single was originally recorded during sessions for their second studio album Meteora (2003), and soon after its February 10, 2023 release, “Lost” hit #1 at both Alternative and Rock radio
