Baby Molly Releases Debut Album “All The People You Could Become Are Dying Every Day” – A Raw, Emotional Journey Through Grief and Self-Discovery

0

Emerging musical artist Baby Molly, known for their unique blend of alternative rock and introspective lyrics, is set to release their debut album titled “All The People You Could Become Are Dying Every Day.” This album, written and performed by Baby Molly, promises to be a poignant exploration of life’s unpredictability and the impact of unexpected loss.

Recorded in the vibrant musical hub of Vancouver, BC, “All The People You Could Become Are Dying Every Day” is a nine-track masterpiece that explores the depths of human emotions. The album boasts exceptional mixing by Kyle Black (known for his work with Paramore, State Champs, and more) and mastering by Andrew Downton (credited with Bryan Adams, Dave Grohl, and others).

Inspired by the tragic loss of their father in November 2022, Baby Molly embarked on a creative journey to craft an album that mirrors the rollercoaster of emotions experienced during grief.
They deliberately chose the album format to provide listeners with a cohesive and immersive experience, taking them from moments of mania to introspection and self-exploration, ultimately leading to a newfound perspective on life and mortality.

At the core of this album lies a profound exploration of the infinite paths that life could take and how these possibilities gradually diminish as we journey through life. Baby Molly’s contemplation of multiverses, choices, and the fleeting nature of existence adds a unique and thought-provoking layer to their music.

Speaking about the album, Baby Molly shares, “The people we could become are fading away with each passing day. I’ve pondered the paths not taken and how our choices shape our lives. Losing my dad added another layer to this – the realization that those who raise us are also mortal.”

To celebrate the release, Baby Molly will be hitting the road, taking their music on tour across Canada this fall and venturing into the United Kingdom in spring 2024. Fans can expect an electrifying live experience that goes beyond the music, fostering a sense of togetherness and inclusivity.

Baby Molly’s artistic journey is a testament to the power of music to connect with people on a profound level. Their music combines elements of singer-songwriter and epic emo alternative/indie rock, drawing inspiration from iconic acts like Say Anything, Against Me!, The Killers and The 1975. Baby Molly champions individuality, challenging societal norms and advocating for self-love.

The Orb and David Gilmour Launch ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour’ AI Global Remix Project For Fans

0

The Orb and David Gilmour, the guitar and voice of Pink Floyd, recently released ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour,’ a visionary re-interpretation of their 2010 ambient classic ‘Metallic Spheres.’ Now in a new use of artificial intelligence led by major recording artists, they are stretching the creative possibilities of the remix project even further by inviting fans around the world to reimagine music from the new album, as well as its cover art, with AI-powered tools.

Starting today, fans can visit metallicspheres.io to create their own personalized AI track and artwork remixed from portions of ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour.’ Visitors to the site will follow a series of prompts indicating the emotion they want the album’s artwork to convey, plus mood and tempo preferences for the available audio. The site, using artificial intelligence capabilities, then generates a new version for playback. Fans can share links to their creations via social media along with their reimagined album covers, and there will be an opportunity to purchase full length remixes as a download in the coming weeks.

In addition, select fan remixes of the ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour’ album cover image, based on the original image by artist Simon Ghahary, may be included in an upcoming music video supporting the album.

Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings are collaborating with The Orb and David Gilmour to develop the ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour’ AI project in partnership with Vermillio, the first generative AI platform that empowers creators and protects their work using Authenticated AI. With Vermillio’s generative AI platform, creators can style, own and track AI-powered digital creations using text-to-image and image-to-image styling tools, while creating audio remixes and variations benefitting artists.

An all-new use of artificial intelligence technology by globally renowned recording artists, the ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour’ AI Remix is powered by machine learning and a custom generative AI model developed for the project.

Remixes of the album art are generated from users listening to selections from ‘Metallic Spheres In Colour’s musical movements in a live group setting and typing in text that describes how the audio they are hearing makes them feel. The AI model then creates new images in the style of Ghahary’s original based on the emotions it detects in the language inputs.

Next, fans can reimagine the audio by using sliders to indicate the desired mood (chill -> high energy) and tempo (slower -> faster) they want the music to convey. The user’s choices are then combined with the emotional input from the album art they personalized to create a new remix of the movement selection.

In Spring 2009 Ambient pioneers The Orb and producer Youth were asked to remix a version of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Chicago/Change The World”, recorded by David Gilmour in aid of the British Hacker Gary McKinnon, who was facing extradition to the USADavid Gilmour contributed further guitar parts to the mix and Youth and Orb leader Alex Paterson turned this session into a two ambient suites, the 28 minute ‘Metallic’ and the 20-minute ‘Spheres’ and released under the name ‘Metallic Spheres,’ which was initially released in 2010.

‘Metallic Spheres In Colour’ is the new 2023 remix/reimagining of the original ‘Metallic Spheres’ album. This new version has been masterminded by Alex Paterson, founder of The Orb, alongside writing partner and current member of The Orb Michael Rendall and producer Youth. This new version of the album also features brand new artwork created by Simon Ghahary http://www.ghahary.com.

Revealing OSHEAGA 2024 Headliners: NOAH KAHAN and SZA!

0

The OSHEAGA Music and Arts Festival presented by Bell in collaboration with Coors Light is shaping up to be an unforgettable weekend of musical delights! At last, here are the headliners who will be joining Green Day for this year’s festival: Noah Kahan and SZA, both recent GRAMMY nominees.

Hailing from Strafford, Vermont (just south of Montreal), Noah Kahan has made a name for himself as a truth-telling troubadour with a knack for writing catchy songs with unfathomable depths. The “Stick Season” singer has had a meteoric rise since he put out his first single, “Hurt Somebody”, to critical and commercial acclaim! Kahan, whose online buzz has been a veritable phenomenon, has over 22 million monthly listeners, and his music has been the soundtrack to millions of TikToks. With a high energy and twangy sound, Kahan has enjoyed being at the top of the Billboard rock and alternative album charts and has collaborated with some of the best and brightest in the business these days, including Kacey Musgraves, Zach Bryan, and a massive hit with Post Malone. On December 2, Kahan will take the Saturday Night Live stage as musical guest, a gig he said in a 2015 tweet that he would “do anything” for. Fans can look forward to chill-inducing singalong moments when Noah Kahan hits the stage on Friday, August 2 at this summer’s OSHEAGA!

Leading the pack this year with 9 new GRAMMY noms, SZA is one of the world’s biggest superstars at the moment, and despite being somewhat shy about fame, her exceptional live shows have been making headlines around the globe. Born Solána Rowe in St Louis, Mi, SZA grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, where she honed her skills as a performer while studying to be a marine biologist – but her career took a musical turn when she became the first female artist to sign with Top Dawg Entertainment (Kendrick Lamar’s label). Fans will note that this isn’t SZA’s first OSHEAGA: the singer was part of the stellar lineup back in 2015 as well! Since then, her star has been on the rise in a huge way – her debut album, Ctrl, has remained on the Billboard 200 chart since July 2017. Her follow-up, SOS, became the longest-running No. 1 album by a female artist of the decade, and she’s just getting started. With a fresh take on a classic sound, the singer, who cites legendary vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald and Lauryn Hill as primary influences, will be taking the OSHEAGA stage on Sunday, August 4 as a new queen of soul.

Announced earlier this month, Green Day will be playing their first-ever show in the festival’s history this summer, as they take the stage on Saturday, August 3, for what is sure to be an unforgettable night of pure punk rock bliss on! It has been over 6 years since Green Day last “came around” to play a show in Montreal, leaving the sold-out Bell Centre crowd in awe! Just this past week, the band took over the Grey Cup halftime show in Hamilton, ON for an electrifying performance some of their hits, including “Basket Case” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. Many speactators claimed Green Day delivered the greatest halftime show in years! Now, with a new album on the horizon called Saviours, the iconic group is preparing a world tour for 2024 that will showcase their searing new material along with anthems from classic albums like Dookie (celebrating 30 years since its release) and American Idiot (that turns 20 next year).

…and it doesn’t stop here! The full OSHEAGA 2024 lineup will be unveiled in the New Year, and single-day tickets will be available before you know it.

Over the years, OSHEAGA has become a global reference for great music and top-notch festival experiences. Fans now come to the festival to live something they cannot find anywhere else. It’s an indescribable feeling when arriving on-site: the city skyline in the background, a wide variety of top-tier artists, the new talent on multiple stages, all over a perfect island setting.

My Next Read: “60 Songs That Explain the ’90s” by Rob Harvilla

0

A companion to the #1 music podcast on Spotify, this book takes readers through the greatest hits that define a weirdly undefinable decade.

The 1990s were a chaotic and gritty and utterly magical time for music, a confounding barrage of genres and lifestyles and superstars, from grunge to hip-hop, from sumptuous R&B to rambunctious ska-punk, from Axl to Kurt to Missy to Santana to Tupac to Britney. In 60 SONGS THAT EXPLAIN THE ’90s, Ringer music critic Rob Harvilla reimagines all the earwormy, iconic hits Gen Xers pine for with vivid historical storytelling, sharp critical analysis, rampant loopiness, and wryly personal ruminations on the most bizarre, joyous, and inescapable songs from a decade we both regret entirely and miss desperately.

MDMP’s ‘Stranger Things’ Featuring Failure’s Kellii Scott and Profiler’s Mike Evans Delves into the Dark and Complicated Realities of Finding Your Place

0

When you can’t find your place, all surroundings are strangers.

It’s a dark, complicated world that comes with no manual. It’s a feeling that Hawaii-based MDMP founder and frontman Jeremey Meyer knows personally, and it was the motivation behind the band’s latest single, “Stranger Things.”

“This song is dedicated to everybody who feels they somehow don’t belong in this messed-up world,” Meyer explained. “I myself am a bastard child who tries to make the most of what has been given to me.”

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEyEbuONOtWcMXru-CR4b4Q

That spirit is at the essence of MDMP, a one-man band with an endless list of members. Collaboration is the purpose of its existence, and it’s how all of its music has been made.

“Living on a small island has forced me to change mindsets from the traditional band model to realize there are no rules to making good music,” Meyer said. “During the songwriting process, I might have a particular type of sound in mind or even want to expand on a song I heard in the past. It comes to me usually sooner than later that a specific artist or artists would sound awesome on the track, which leads to ‘the ask,’ and if they say ‘yes,’ a new song is born.”

Meyer initially wrote “Stranger Things” for Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters to sing, but he realized it would be impossible to get in touch with the artist. Instead, Meyer played the demo for Matteo Depares, a British producer friend, who begged him to sing and release it himself.

Enter Los Angeles-based drummer Kellii Scott of alternative rock band Failure and Bristol, U.K.-based guitarist Mike Evans of metal band Profiler. Their features helped complete the track, with Meyer holding up his end of the bargain on the mic.

“Stranger things in the night
(Yes we all want to be loved)
Don’t be afraid
There’s something that I need you to know
You’re not alone
Alone.”

It’s a unique process to reach the final product of a complete song, but it’s one that MDMP employs in the music it makes. From Kazakhstan to Taiwan and much more, MDMP has made music with artists far and wide.

“It’s all about collaboration for me,” Meyer explained. “I’m an organizer – an orchestrator of the process. I don’t want it to be all me. I’m a team player. I love anybody who gives me advice or ideas, good or bad. When it comes to music, I don’t know a lot of people who are trying to do a collaborative thing on this level.”

MDMP has been in operation since Meyer moved to Hawaii in the late 2010s. The multi-tasker in chief is originally from Nebraska, where he spent the ‘90s singing about Edgar Allen Poe in English class, playing in the marching band, and soaking up everything from grunge to Metallica to his greatest influence, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.

Meyer served a few years in the military along with a year in Iraq, then got back into music upon his return stateside. As the bassist in hard rock heroes Sherry Drive, he released two albums and shared stages with the likes of Skid Row and Sick Puppies. All of those experiences, good and bad, now feed into MDMP, Meyer said.

“Some artists are determined to be the same and never change, and they’re going to go down with that ship,” he explained. “I don’t want to do that.”

MDMP released only singles in its first few years, but in 2021, it put out a behemoth of a debut album, “Day One.” Its 27 tracks spanned the sonic and stylistic spectrum, demonstrating the band’s willingness to experiment and collaborate with all sorts of musicians and their backgrounds. MDMP has continued to deliver music since, discovering new sounds and friends with each step.

It’s important to Meyer to think of his musical endeavors as such. In his band’s most-recent work, “Stranger Things,” he extends a hand to those who need companionship and a reassurance of their value. Collaborations don’t have to be official or direct – every day, humans make the wheel spin in conjunction with 8 billion in-name-only strangers.

“I want them to know that there are many of us that feel the same way,” Meyer said. “I love making music, so I hope we can find and have comfort in knowing each other.”

MDMP’s music has already reached hundreds of thousands of people, but there’s still plenty more to go.

“As more people hear MDMP, the hope is to grow the list of contributors with the dream of someday landing a collaborative song on the Billboard charts,” Meyer said. “Maybe this is the one?”

Don’t bet against him. Stranger things have happened.
