Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” on Musical Tesla Coils

1

Engineer Fabricio H. Franzoli accepted the challenge: Daft Punk’s Get Lucky on musical tesla coils!

For those who did not understand what is going on this video, here’s a brief explanation: The main loud music really comes from the tesla coil sparks. They are literally playing the music due to the programmed phase, pulse width and firing frequency! So, there are no speakers, no audio / video special effects. It looks even better in person and sounds almost the same, just louder than people expect!

Rhino Records Continues To Celebrate Its Prolific Roster Of Black Artists For Black Music Month With Exclusive Releases From Jazz Giants Miles Davis And Charles Mingus

0

On January 19, 1974, Charles Mingus stepped on to the hallowed stage at Carnegie Hall to give one of the most sought-after performances in music history. The Charles Mingus Group—Mingus, Don Pullen, Jon Faddis, George Adams, Hamiet Bluiett, and Dannie Richmond—brought the house down with a downright daring, dynamic, and divine 74-mintute display of brilliant jazz. However, the full concert has never seen a release in its entirety until now.  As part of Rhino Records’ upcoming Black Music Month celebration, Mingus At Carnegie Hall – Deluxe Edition will be available as a 2-CD set on June 11 (Pre-order here) or your favorite independent record store) and on 3-LP scheduled to ship around July 16 (Pre-order @runoutgroovevinyl.com).

Mingus At Carnegie Hall now consists of 74 minutes of previously unreleased music sourced from the original analog tapes. It marks the first time the complete concert in its original running order has been released. The package also boasts never-before-seen photos from the Gosta Peterson collection and new liner notes by jazz authority Michael Cuscuna.

Renowned as one of the greatest jazz musicians and composers in history, Charles Mingus changed the course of the genre with his unparalleled improvisational acumen. Throughout three decades, he collaborated with the likes of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Herbie Hancock.

It’s just one of many marquee releases for June. On June 25, Rhino Records will also unveil

MERCI MILES! LIVE AT VIENNE as a two-CD set and as a double LP. It is available for pre-order. It captures one of Miles’s final performances with the Miles Davis Group on July 1, 1991, at the Jazz à Vienne festival in France. The collection features liner notes by music historian, journalist, and producer Ashley Kahn, along with art designed by Bruno Tilley. For a limited time, an exclusive fold-out poster and postcard will be available with purchase via Rhino.com and MilesDavis.com.

Rhino Records continues to celebrate Black Music with the reissue of poignant albums that set the tone for future generations.

Re-Release Of The Golden Hits Album From The Drifters, Zapp & Roger And Lupe Fiasco’s Debut Album Food & Liquor

0

To kick off Black Music Month, Rhino Records will release a full- length video essay via YouTube and social media platforms highlighting the musical evolution of Black American music from Doo Wop to Hip Hop, highlighting the connection between today’s popular genres and its forbears.

“From Doo Wop to Hip Hop: A Journey from the American Streets to the top of the charts,” features connects songs from Ray Charles, Zapp & Roger, Otis Redding, Ben E. King, The Chords, Charles Wright, and Roberta Flack, with those from Big Daddy Kane, Busta Rhymes, GrandMaster Flash & The Furious Five, and more.

Doo Wop music was popularized by African American youth in the east coast cities of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and New York, moving through the steel factories of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati heading west sweeping through the Windy City, Chicago, before traveling the airwaves and reaching the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles, California. Hip Hop took a similar trajectory by amplifying the rhythmic voices of Black youth. This art form originated in New York City and ignited a firestorm of creativity that took the world by storm in the late 70s and Early 80s, and continues to dominate popular music today.

The Drifters melodic harmonies burst on to the music scene in the 1950’s, starting in barbershops and street corners before dominating the charts. Over the next decade the group had created numerous hits and multiple number 1’s on the Billboard charts. Their two iconic hits “Under the Boardwalk” and “This Magic Moment” cemented their legacy and place in music history by being honored with their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The essay then follows the transition of the Doo Wop style to soul and funk, eventually landing on hip hop’s inclusion of the earlier styles to create something wholly original. For example, legendary group, Zapp and Roger’s mega-hit “More Bounce to the Ounce” has been  sampled over 300 times since its release in 1980.

The re-release of Lupe Fiasco’s critically acclaimed “Food & Liquor” album showcases the harmonic influences of Doo Wop throughout “Daydreamin’” ft. Jill Scott, which won a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2008. This album will remind fans of Lupe’s clever, witty, and intelligent wordplay that solidified him as one of Hip Hop’s greatest lyricist and most important voices.

Five-time Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Green Day unleash their brand new song “Pollyanna” out today. Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, CA, Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, with more than 70 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/visual streams. Their 1994 breakout album Dookie, which sold over 10 million and achieved diamond status, is widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock, catapulting a career-long run of #1 hit singles. Entertainment Weekly calls Green Day, “The most influential band of their generation,” while Rolling Stone attests, “Green Day have inspired more young bands to start than any act this side of KISS, and that doesn’t seem to be changing.” In 2004, Green Day released the rock opera American Idiot which captured the nation’s attention, selling more than 7 million copies in the U.S. alone and taking home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. Mojo declared “It’s exhilarating stuff, the kind of record that sets new parameters as to what is possible from a punk rock’n’roll band in the 21st century.” In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway to critical and commercial acclaim. Released last year, Green Day’s thirteenth studio album Father Of All… (Reprise/Warner Records) debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Album Sales Chart and #1 in both the U.K. and Australia. Pitchfork declared, “Green Day’s most fetching and youthful songs in ages. The trio sounds reinvigorated, more like hungry newcomers staking their claim.” Green Day will also be headlining Life is Beautiful festival in 2020- click here for all dates.

Multi-platinum selling, Grammy-nominated Fall Out Boy most recently released the single “Dear Future Self (Hands Up)” ft. Wyclef Jean from their November 2019 record Greatest Hits: Believers Never Die – Volume Two. The song marked the band’s first new music since the August 2018 release of the three-song Lake Effect Kid EP, a love letter to their hometown city of Chicago that featured the full version of the band’s previously unreleased title track demo along with two new songs “City in A Garden” and “Super Fade.” In January 2019, Fall Out Boy was featured on the gold-certified track “I’ve Been Waiting,” a collaboration from Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen. Fall Out Boy’s seventh studio album M A N I A debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in January 2018 and garnered a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rock Album. Their worldwide tour in support of the record included a hometown show at Wrigley Field. In January 2021, they performed at the We The People concert as part of the official 2021 Biden-Harris Inauguration.

Multi-platinum, GRAMMY award-winning band Weezer continues to be one of the most beloved and influential bands of the last twenty-five years. The band has already had an amazing 2021 with the release of not one but two incredible albums: an orchestral pop record meditating on technology and disconnectedness called OK Human, and an homage to the band’s shared metal roots growing up called Van Weezer. 2021 will also see the band celebrating the 20th anniversary of Weezer (The Green Album) and the 25th anniversary of Pinkerton. Weezer has sold 10 million albums in the U.S., and over 35 million records worldwide. Their catalogue has included such megahits as “Buddy Holly,” “Undone (The Sweater Song),” “Say It Ain’t So,” “El Scorcho,” “Hash Pipe,” “Island In The Sun,” “Beverly Hills,” “Pork and Beans,” and more. Following massively acclaimed album releases in 2016 and 2017 (Weezer [The White Album] and Pacific Daydream, respectively), and two sold out amphitheatre tours with Panic! At the Disco (in 2016) and Pixies (in 2018), Weezer released a fan-inspired cover of Toto’s “Africa.” The cover propelled the band back into the charts across the board, and has since gone Platinum. They then surprise dropped a covers album in 2019 — Weezer (The Teal Album) — which has been streamed over a hundred million times since its release.

Kings Of Leon Announce 2021 Tour Dates For ‘When You See Yourself Tour’

0

On the heels of a groundbreaking new album, KINGS OF LEON announces the When You See Yourself Tour produced by Live Nation. The Grammy Award-winning group will kick off the tour on August 3rd in West Palm Beach, FL at the iThink Financial Amphitheater and travel through 20+ cities before concluding on October 3rd in Ridgefield, WA at the Sunlight Supply Amphitheater. The tour will make stops at outdoor venues across North America, including two hometown shows at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater.

Known for their impressive live performances, which have consistently been praised by critics for their dynamic creative, Kings of Leon will take to the stage performing new material alongside fan favorite tracks in their highly anticipated return to live shows. The band expressed their excitement to get back on the road when speaking with SPIN for their April cover. “It has that fun first day of summer camp vibe to it, which we’ve missed so much. It’s going to be super cool to get out there and play these songs for the first time.” said Nathan Followill.

Special guests Cold War Kids will join them as support, with band frontman Nathan Willett adding, “We are so excited to open for Kings of Leon on tour all over the US! Like- thrilled beyond belief, losing our minds about it! Let’s go!”

Earlier this year, Kings of Leon released their innovative eighth studio album When You See Yourself, marking the first time ever that a new album was released as an NFT. In a first of it’s kind launch, the innovative album release made waves through the music industry, quickly becoming one of the most successful wide-scale use of NFTs within the music industry to date. In the history making drop, the band made available six GOLDEN TICKET experiences, offering fans four front row seats, each tour, to the show of their choosing, anywhere in the world, FOR LIFE. NFT YOURSELF album token holders were also able to redeem “Going Nowhere” (an acoustic version of the album track ‘Supermarket’). The previously unreleased version of the track is being given as a token of appreciation to everyone who was willing to invest in the future of music, during a year of uncertain futures. As Kings of Leon continue exploring ways to connect directly with their fans, NFT YOURSELF will be the gift that keeps on giving.

The drop has raked in 1k Ethereum, which at today’s valued exchange rate, is approximately 3.7 million dollars. $600,000 of that has gone to directly benefit Live Nation’s Crew Nation. Echoing this sentiment on tour, the band will continue to give back to their musical community with one dollar from every ticket going directly to their newly formed Inherit The Music foundation.

Inherit The Music is embarking on a campaign to inspire the next generation of musicians. Co-founded by Kings of Leon and philanthropist Alisha Ballard, Inherit The Music supports local organizations that pay forward the gifts that only music can provide. By providing resources and funding education programs at all age levels, this newly formed charitable organization aims to impact the aspiring musicians of today and the future.

Kings of Leon’s latest album, When You See Yourself, was recorded at Nashville’s famed Blackbird Studios and produced by Grammy Award-winning Markus Dravs. The album has received critical acclaim with Rolling Stone Magazine noting “…the band’s eighth album is an arena rock of the mind,” that “lunges and soars with rippling guitar leads cascading across some of the dirtiest riffs the band has put on a record since the New South-meets-neo-Strokes garage moves of its first two albums… this record might surprise you.”
