Metallica & San Francisco Symphony: S&M2 To Be Released August 28

0

Metallica and San Francisco Symphony’s September 6 & 8, 2019 S&M2 concerts were historic on multiple levels: They served as the grand opening of San Francisco’s Chase Center, reunited the band and Symphony for the first time since the 1999 performances captured on the Grammy-winning S&M album, and featured the first-ever symphonic renditions of songs written and released since those original S&M shows.

The sold out shows were rapturously received by the 40,000 fans who traveled from nearly 70 countries, as well as the media: Rolling Stone raved “the group proved that anything was possible,” Variety noted an atmosphere “buzzing with excitement,” while the Mercury News witnessed “a concert that fans will be talking about for decades to come,” and Consequence of Sound hailed “a true celebration of Metallica and their musical prowess.”

On August 28, S&M2 comes to life once more with the release of Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M2. S&M2 will be available in a staggering array of formats, ranging from a digital album on all leading streaming outlets, to 4LP vinyl, 2CD, DVD and Blu-ray versions, to a limited edition color vinyl 4LP + 2CD + Blu-ray Deluxe Box featuring sheet music, guitar picks, poster and more, all the way up to a Metallica.com exclusive Super Deluxe Box, limited to 500 copies, each featuring actual sheet music used by the Symphony during the shows and hand-signed by all four band members (in addition to including everything in the Deluxe Box). With this long-awaited Blackened Recordings release, S&M2 can be fully experienced by others beyond those who squeezed into the Chase Center over those two unforgettable evenings.

S&M2 is a landmark release in the Metallica catalogue, both sonically and visually. Produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the S&M2 live album captures more than two and a half hours of James, Lars, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo joining forces with the nearly 80-strong SF Symphony, legendary Musical Director of the orchestra Michael Tilson Thomas, and conductor Edwin Outwater. The concert film is a brand-new edit done by Joe Hutching (Through The Never) and both the audio and visuals have been taken to the next level from the October 2019 theatrical version that played in over 3,700 cinemas worldwide

S&M2 is available for pre-order now, preceded by the S&M2 versions of “All Within My Hands” and “Nothing Else Matters,” both now available across digital platforms. See below for track listing and detailed list of configurations, and stay tuned to metallica.com/sm2 for further information.

Michael Everest DeMarco And How His Acting Career Started

0

Many people know Michael Everest DeMarco for his philanthropy and other achievements in his acting career. However, his childhood was also adventurous as he was in the limelight. He was born in New Orleans and tried many different things, unlike ordinary kids. The many things he tried as a young boy include business, shows, and a career in the theater.

The first thing that DeMarco tried was modeling. His good looks and outgoing personality meant it was easy for him to get his first modeling gig. He was very dedicated to his modeling career and had the willingness and love to learn. The dedication was a surprise to his peers, and within no time, he was at the top of the pedigree. Attention to his craft increased, and this meant increased show business at the tender age of 13 years. Exposure to adults and other kids helped DeMarco build social skills. His engagements and experiences made him develop new relationships that last until today.

Acting Years

Other than modeling, Michael Everest DeMarco was interested in acting, and it was easy for him to switch careers without coming out of the performing arts field. The change of profession was without coercion from anyone but out of love. He was focused on achieving his dream of becoming an actor. This move would prove to be a masterstroke as he became famous, and people would easily recognize his face and name.

Due to his aggressiveness, DeMarco got an acting position in several plays. Many of his roles assigned were as a child actor. The characters he played required creativity, moves of a model, and confidence.

DeMarco Popular Plays

‘The Golden Boy’ was one of his most famous plays. The play by Clifford Odets made him a household name. He became recognized as never before. DeMarco participated as Joe Bonaparte, a violinist. Considering the hard work that Clifford had put into this play, the drama that was on the show, DeMarco getting the lead role, was outstanding. It tells a lot about the prowess that DeMarco has.

The Golden Boy was just the beginning, as the New Orleans native did not stop there. He took another role in Richard III, a historical piece of art. Shakespeare, who is the author, got recognition for some of the best writings. Richard III focuses on a king in a particular territory. In this play, Michael Everest DeMarco takes the name, Buckingham. He plays this role with a lot of skills and professionalism.

Through the experience he had from his undertakings over time, directors felt that DeMarco was ready for more challenging tasks. That is how he got another gig in the play Winterset. Though it was a different role, and somehow knew, he was up to the task, and it was easy for him to showcase his skills. Michael Everest DeMarco plays as Bartolomeo Romagna in the famous play by Maxwell Anderson.

DeMarco’s Training

It was always clear to the young actor that it was essential to invest in training to make significant steps. Michael was lucky as he got training on the different acting ways that few actors knew. Among the methods, he learned to include the Stanislavski method and Method Acting. All this supervision and training was done by professionals and the best teachers in the studio.

His passion, dedication, aggressiveness, and training at Sal Dano and Actors Studio LA, helped DeMarco be among the top actors in Hollywood. Some of the most notable movies he played in Hollywood include The Fine Stallion and Over the Line.

The success of Michael Everest Demarco is a result of the focus on his goals, willingness to learn, hard work, and hunger to achieve his dreams.

Is it advisable to rent an electric car?

0

Electric cars have come a long way, from theoretical representations to a niche that will eventually take over. An electric car is an automobile that is propelled by one or more electric motors, using energy stored in rechargeable batteries. These vehicles were first produced in the 18th century but didn’t become popular until the 19th century but its potential growth was cut short by the breakthrough of the cheaper petrol and diesel vehicles.

While an electric car’s power source is not explicitly an on-board battery, electric cars with motors powered by other energy sources are typically referred to by a different name. An electric car carrying solar panels to power it is a solar car, and an electric car powered by a gasoline generator is a form of hybrid car Thus, an electric car that derives its power from an on-board battery pack is a form of battery electric vehicle (BEV). Most often, the term “electric car” is used to refer to battery electric vehicles, but may also refer to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV).

What are the benefits of using an electric vehicle?

Of course using an EV has its perks, if not how would you explain the massive spread of these battery powered vehicles all over the world. Some of these benefits may be viewed by some as unnoticeable or negligible but I believe in the long run they all add up to make the EV a better alternative to diesel or petrol engine vehicles.

  • Eco friendly

This is the most obvious and probably the whole reason behind the usage of electricity to power these vehicles, it is Eco-friendly. The world is at a stage where Global warming has become a threat. Global warming refers to the long-term rise of the planet’s temperatures. It is caused by increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, mainly from human activities such as gas flaring, deforestation and burning fossil fuels.

These fossil fuels use internal combustion engines like generators and petrol cars which emit smoke that goes into the atmosphere. To combat this, electric cars were made as no gases are emitted and the batteries can be recharged using renewable sources of energy like solar panels or charging stations. So, by choosing to drive an EV you help reduce harmful air pollution from exhaust pipes. Simply put it is better for the environment.

  • Cheaper maintenance

An electric vehicle has fewer moving parts than a normal petrol car. In fact, the only moving part is the rotor, hence their need for maintenance is significantly lessened and therefore it is cheaper. The essential parts that require maintenance are the tires, the suspension and the brakes and that’s pretty much it.

  • Better health

A general reduction in the harmful emission of exhaust gas does volumes for one’s health especially if you’re more advanced in age.

  • Driving has never been quieter

The first thing you notice when switching to an electric car is the quietness of the vehicle, which creates a far more comfortable, relaxing driving experience. You can move through traffic and glide across town in a comfortable, clean and quiet car. Isn’t that how driving should be?

  • Savings

Trips to the gas station for fuel can be expensive, especially when the ever-fluctuating price of petrol is high. When you get an electric vehicle, you can forget about paying for and being at the mercy of gas prices. Not only is electricity less expensive than gasoline, it also has a much more stable price point, meaning that rapid price swings are all but eliminated by going electric. You can even reduce your costs further by installing a rooftop solar installation to charge your electric vehicle. This helps to produce your own free electricity and possibly remove fuel costs from your life entirely. Now that we’ve seen the wonderful advantages that electric cars have to offer, it’s time to go buy or perhaps rent one.

 Wait! What about the cons?

Of course there are cons, but the question is do they outweigh the benefits? Let’s have a look.

  • Limited driving range

First off is the limited driving range. EVs are limited by their battery sizes and this can be a problem if you’re planning on a long distance journey. This brings us to the next problem.

  • Finding a charging station

Finding charging stations can be challenging. Even with Tesla’s ever-growing network of supercharging stations finding a charging station can be a bit of a hassle especially if your destination is far. It is best to pre plan your route and make sure there are a couple of charging stations along the way.

  • Slow charging times

Refueling a petrol car doesn’t take up to five minutes, recharging an electric car can take some time to do. On average it requires about eight hours to fully recharge a battery pack using normal outlets, while even the fastest charging stations will take 30 minutes to get near 80 percent capacity.

  • High cost of battery pack replacement

Although battery packs require little or no maintenance they wear after prolonged use or they could just suddenly go bad and need immediate replacement. This process is usually quite expensive as the battery pack is costly. But the good news is you might not need to replace your battery for at least eight years. And there have been few cases of battery packs dying on their owners.

Now the pros and cons have been outlined, should you go for an electric vehicle? Say you’re in a new city and you’re looking to rent or you just don’t have the cash to buy a car outright, you should consider renting an EV. If you happen to be in Dubai and you want to rent a car, Rent car from Dubai Mall happens to offer the best services at affordable rates. So, whether or not you should rent an electric car depends on a few factors, your location, availability of charging stations, cost of electricity and finally personal preference. But if you ask me anytime I’d say renting an electric car is the way to go.

Self-cleaning oven fire prevention

Are you confused and unaware as to how to stop self-cleaning oven fires? Here are some important steps that you can follow.

  1. Soak the racks of the oven with warm water

The oven racks are a sensitive part of the oven, hence they need to be cleaned by hand instead. Take a few drops of dish soap and then fill a tub with warm water. Add the soap in and let the racks soak for more than 3 hours.

  1. Homemade cleaning paste

this is an important hack for cleaning the inside of the oven to prevent fire. Fill a bowl with about 1 cup of vinegar along with a cup of water, 3/4th baking soda and an out 2 tbsp of lemon juice. Along with this add drops of dish soap too. Stir and then coat the inside of the oven with this paste. Lay thick layers, also on top of burnt pieces of food to properly clean. Let this sit for an hour.

  1. Scrape away the paste

As you scrape away the coat in the oven, make sure to use a scraper. Scrape the food bits and then use a damp sponge. This is a great way to help prevent fires as oven fires are caused due to burnt pieces of food as well.

  1. Inspect your oven gasket

In case of any break or tears, make sure you inspect your oven gasket. This is the rubber or seal of plastic which is around the oven door.

  1. Clean the oven gasket too

This is also a crucial part, so it is important to clean it using a sponge. Soak it in hot water and add soap. Then scrub the gasket to prevent any melt shut when the oven is being self-cleaned.

  1. Clean the oven properly

Mix solution of 1:1 water and vinegar. Use a cloth, soak it in the solution and then wipe the oven. Wipe the exterior door too.

  1. Turn of the self-clean function then

Once you’ve cleaned, turn on the function that helps self-cleaning. You can turn the self-clean cycle extra clean as self-cleaning also depends on the brand, according to which the cycle varies.

For a Samsung oven self-clean, make sure you know that cleaning it isn’t a huge chore. This is because ovens like these have a self-clean function which handles most of the heavy lifting. In the same way, follow the steps above in how to stop the self-cleaning oven from catching on fire, and for that, pre-cleaning is essential.

Which live casino games offer the best RTP?

0

People play casino games for different reasons and with different expectations. For some, it is all about the casino experience and the game itself is almost incidental. Others get deep into the strategy of a particular game, going into statistical probabilities, numerical progressions and so on. Whatever the approach, however, there is one thing that every player has in common. Everyone wants to maximize their potential returns – or at least to minimize their potential losses, which are two sides of the same coin.

This is where the concept of return to player or RTP is important. It reflects the average return a player can expect from a particular game. Of course, sometimes a player will have a good day and beat the house, while on other days, he might have a bad run. But in the long run, the good and bad days will average out at the game’s RTP.

RTP and live gaming

In slot games, RTP can be calculated with accuracy according to the different symbols, their values and the regularity with which they appear. But how does it work with live casino games like roulette or blackjack? These have enjoyed a surge in popularity over recent months, especially while physical casinos have been closed. Playing with a live dealer provides an opportunity for that genuine casino experience, without leaving the house.

RTP can be calculated just as easily for live casino games as it can for slots. The only difference is that it is usually expressed in terms of house edge, which is the return the casino makes. So for example, a house edge of four percent represents an RTP of 96 percent.

Finding the best RTP

Let’s start with blackjack, the most popular casino game of them all. Here, if you sit down at the table with no idea what you are doing, and hit, stand, double down or split entirely at random, the house edge is more than seven percent. Play with basic strategy, however, and this drops to less than two percent, while advanced players can bring the house edge all the way down to 0.5 percent.

With roulette, there is less you can do strategy-wise, as the ball will stop where it stops. The biggest influence on the RTP or house edge here is the type of roulette wheel you choose. For this purpose, we can think of the zero or zeros as a win for the house. Clearly, the casino stands more chance of winning on an American roulette wheel, which has zero and double zero, than a European wheel with just single zero. In fact, the house edges for American and European roulette are 5.3 and 2.7 percent respectively.

The other live game that has really surged in popularity over recent years is baccarat. Like blackjack, it is a game where learning some basic strategy makes a big difference to your returns in the long run. The house edge is a little over one percent – the only game that can beat it is blackjack, but even then, only if you play with a perfect strategy!

Patty Smyth Announces First New Album in 28 Years, Shares Lead Single & Video

0

Patty Smyth announces her first album of brand new, original music in 28 years.

Out October 9th on BMG, It’s About Time pairs the same passion and ferocity the Grammy and Oscar nominee first introduced as the lead singer of Scandal with the hard-earned wisdom she’s gained from decades of touring, writing, acting for film, and raising six kids with husband John McEnroe.

Recorded in Nashville’s Blackbird Studios and produced by Grammy-winner Dann Huff (Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Kelly Clarkson), these six songs – plus covers of Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode to Billie Joe” and Tom Waits’ “Downtown Train” – declare Smyth’s return to rock n roll as an artist who has embraced a new stage of life, but hasn’t shed the resolute and rambunctious defiance of her youth.

Patty Smyth explains, “People would always ask, ‘When are you gonna give us new music?’ I kept saying, ‘I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it…’ Finally I said, ‘Fuck it, man. I’ve just got to do it!’ I’ve been touring and playing shows with the same band for 12 years, just having a blast, and I finally went into the zone of writing these songs I felt were poignant and relevant for me. I started to realize this is a real thing that’s happening and just went with it.”

Watch the music video for lead single “Drive” below.

It’s About Time is largely rooted in the challenges and changes of relationships; Patty’s own and those of others. From taking care of yourself to taking control of your own insecurities, the album takes stock of the lessons she’s learned when life has felt too big to avoid. It’s a chronicle of thriving as well as surviving, though, and on tracks such as “Build a Fire” Smyth celebrates longevity, looking back on a quarter-century of marriage with McEnroe.

Since storming the scene in 1982, filling radio and video airwaves with the roaring hooks and iconic looks of hits like “The Warrior,” “Goodbye To You,” “Love’s Got a Line on You,” and other unforgettable highlights from Scandal’s Gold and Platinum-selling run, Patty Smyth’s solo career has included Grammy-nominated, chart-topping Don Henley duet “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough,” the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated “Look What Love Has Done,” Armageddon soundtrack contribution “Wish I Were You,” and more. With no regrets, Patty is once again ready to bring the love and kick some ass.

‘Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind’ The Story Of The Canadian Music Icon Opens

0

‘Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind’ – the new documentary celebrating the life of a Canadian musical legend – opens today via Virtual Cinema.

Directors Martha Kehoe and Joan Tosoni capture Gordon Lightfoot’s profound evolution from Christian choirboy to troubled troubadour, international star and beloved Canadian icon with 5 Grammy Nominations and over 10 million albums sold. Lightfoot’s hits including “If You Could Read My Mind”, “Sundown”, “Carefree Highway”, and “Rainy Day People” and Bob Dylan once said “every time I hear a song of his I wish it would last forever.” The film is an intimate and emotional examination of Lightfoot’s relationship to his music, featuring exclusive interviews with Gordon, while intertwining his indelible legacy and unpacking key songs within the cultural history of folk and rock music along the way.

Produced by Insight Productions, the documentary takes audiences from high school auditoriums in straight-laced, small town Ontario in the ‘50s to the coffee houses of Toronto’s Yorkville and NYC’s Greenwich Village in the ‘60s, through Gordon’s turbulent, substance-fueled arena shows of the ‘70s, and finally to the artist – older, wiser – in present day. Interwoven throughout the film are Interviews with multiple generations of Lightfoot fans, in and outside the music industry – from Steve Earle and Sarah McLachlan, to Alec Baldwin and Geddy Lee – as well as behind the scenes stories from members of his longtime band.

‘Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind,’ a CBC Docs and documentary Channel Original, is presented by Greenwich Entertainment and Insight Productions in association with Canada Media Fund, Slaight Communications, Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds through the Theatrical Documentary Program and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Rogers Cable Network Fund and the Rogers Documentary Fund. The film’s TVOD release date is set for August 21st.

PBS’s Independent Lens to Premiere Mr. SOUL! in Its Upcoming Season

0

In 1968, America’s first Black variety show, SOUL!, helmed by producer and eventual host Ellis Haizlip, premiered on public television. The pioneering series ran for six years, cementing itself as not only a vehicle to celebrate Black artistry, community and culture but also as a platform for political expression and a powerful force in the fight for social justice. In Mr. SOUL!, award-winning filmmaker Melissa Haizlip—the niece of Ellis—portrays in exquisite detail a revolutionary time in American culture and entertainment through vibrant archival footage and interviews with numerous Black luminaires who appeared on SOUL!, or were impacted by it.

Winner of the Best Music Documentary at the IDA Documentary Awards and the Audience Award for Best Feature at AFI Docs in 2018, Mr. SOUL!will premiere on this season of PBS’s anthology documentary series, Independent Lens, Winter 2021.

While chronicling the journey of SOUL!, filmmaker Melissa Haizlip recounts the life and contributions of the late Ellis Haizlip, who was steeped in the New York City arts community prior to creating the show. Ellis quickly stepped into the role of host of his creation, where his earnest demeanor, low-key interviewing style, and his passion for the Black artistic community and their works—including books, the spoken word, music, film and dance—culminated in a show that depicted the Black experience in an utterly groundbreaking way. Haizlip’s creation shifted the media focus from what was then uniformly images of inner-city poverty and violence, to instead shine a light on the vibrant contemporary Black Arts Movement.

Initially produced for New York public television, SOUL! with its singular focus on the Black community, was utterly groundbreaking. It quickly became a nationwide forum to showcase African Americans’ profound contribution to the arts. By 1970, the weekly show—each episode a mix of performances and interviews—was broadcast by 72 PBS affiliates across the country. This film celebrates the genesis of SOUL! from inception, through its rise as a cultural force, to its final episode in 1973, after the series lost public funding, a casualty of changing political sensibilities.

Narrated by award-winning performer Blair Underwood, Mr. SOUL! features not only archival performances from music legends like Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, and Patti Labelle, but also spoken word performances from the Last Poets and Sonia Sanchez, dance numbers from Carmen de Lavallade and interviews with James Baldwin, Muhammed Ali and

Maya Angelou, among many others. Artists such as Harry Belafonte, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and actress Kathleen Cleaver share their recollections about the show and its impact on them.

“SOUL! broke new ground in entertainment, and its impact is still being felt today, as it inspired an entire generation of artists who watched at home as young people, with rapt attention, never missing the show every week,” said filmmaker Melissa Haizlip. “I hope the story of Ellis Haizlip and his creation continues to inspire the Black community to make their own art; art that reflects them and their own worldview, and that they never compromise their creative vision.”

“With Mr. SOUL!, Melissa shines a light on a one-of-a-kind creative visionary, and his truly important cultural creation,” said Independent Lens Executive Producer Lois Vossen. “We are delighted to bring the story of Ellis Haizlip and SOUL! back home to public television.”

Gibson Launches Search And Reward for Missing ’59-’60 Shipping Ledger

This summer, Gibson, the iconic, American-made, leading instrument brand is launching a global search for missing shipping ledgers from 1959-1960. The 1959-1960 Gibson ledgers contain the shipping records of all the Gibson guitars created during that year, and proudly documents an important period in Gibson’s 126-year old history; the pinnacle of the Gibson Golden Era. The 1959-1960 shipping ledgers in question disappeared from Gibson’s archives around thirty years ago and may have never made the move with the company from Kalamazoo, MI to its hometown of Nashville, TN.

The Gibson family is asking for assistance in recovering the missing 1959-60 ledgers, and upon validation of the 1959-60 ledger’s authenticity, the person or persons who safely returns the books will receive a $59,000.00 cash reward, with zero questions asked.

In addition, Gibson is seeking to recover pre-1970 documents, blueprints, and unique Gibson historical assets. Gibson is willing to evaluate relevant items and individual rewards terms on a case-by-case basis. Gibson reserves the right to validate information and to authenticate materials as genuine articles prior to issuing rewards for pre-1970 items, which may include cash, Gibson gift cards, instruments, and experiences (conditions apply).

Following is the three-step Gibson validation request process for all items:

1.) Send validation requests to: 59Ledger@gibson.com or Ledger@gibson.com.
Emails must include:
a. Written description
b. Photograph(s) and/or videos of the items
c. Contact email and phone number

2.) The validation email request will be reviewed within 15 business days by the Gibson
Historical Committee (GHC), composed of Cesar Gueikian, Mat Koehler
(Head of Product Development), Mark Agnesi (Director of Brand Experience) and
Jason Davidson (Director of Consumer Services).

3.) Based on the GHC’s analysis, the submitting party will be contacted with next steps
and instructions.

“As a custodian of Gibson, I am very excited about this search. I hope we can recover these ledgers as they contain important information about the pinnacle of our Golden Era,” says Cesar Gueikian. “It will be interesting to see where in the world they surface, given that the last time they were seen was in Michigan. While they are dusty old books to anyone else, these ledgers are part of our history, DNA, and our iconic past. These ledgers contain the shipping information, including the serial numbers and shipping party, for the most valuable guitars in history; the Gibson 1959 and 1960 bursts.”

“It’s no wonder that for the last 62 years, many of the top players, collectors, and dreamers have dubbed the original Gibson Les Paul, produced in Kalamazoo Michigan by some of the greatest instrument builders, ‘The Holy Grail’,” says Rick Nielsen. “It held an unparalleled value back then with a price tag of $245; today, the value is 1,000 times that, and, in some cases, worth so much more – monetarily, historically, artistically, and most importantly…musically cool.”

Joe Bonamassa adds, “To find the original ledgers is to unearth knowledge of a pivotal point in America’s contribution to not only guitar manufacturing but to Rock and Roll itself.”

The 1957-1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitars are some of the most intrinsically valuable in history, even without a famous player attached. Only 643 of the 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard were made and it has become one of the most iconic guitars in history. ‘58-‘60 guitars have been adopted by some of the world’s greatest guitarists Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Peter Green, Gary Moore, Mike Bloomfield, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Joe Bonamassa, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Kirk Hammett, Mike McCready, Brian Ray, Dave Amato, John Shanks and most recently Jason Isbell, to name a few.

The 1958 and 1960 Gibson Les Paul models are almost identical to the 1959 with minor spec differences, and each year is highly prized; a 1959 with a figured Tiger Maple design can start at $500,000. Gibson brought back the classic Les Paul Standard burst guitars and reissued each year with historical specs. These guitars are not just a tribute to the priceless original models-they are an exact clone of them. From laser-scanned dimensions, to color-matched shades of sunburst, every element has been rendered in unbelievable detail.
