David Bowie ‘CHANGESNOWBOWIE’ Album Of Unreleased Material Available To Stream From 17th April
arlophone Records is happy to announce that DAVID BOWIE CHANGESNOWBOWIE an unreleased nine-track album is to be made available early for fans on streaming services to celebrate the original date of Record Store Day 2020 which was to feature the LP and CD which has now been postponed to 20th June.
CHANGESNOWBOWIE is a 9-track album, recorded for radio and broadcast by the BBC on David’s 50th birthday on 8th January, 1997. The broadcast featured an interview with David by Mary Anne Hobbs interspersed with specially recorded birthday messages and questions from the likes of Scott Walker, Damon Albarn, Bono, Robert Smith and many more. This mostly acoustic session was a stripped back affair featuring some of David’s favourites of his own compositions and was produced by Bowie himself, Reeves Gabrels and Mark Plati.
From 10th April the previously unseen REPETITION ’97 video filmed at the Earthling Tour rehearsals in Hartford Connecticut by Tim Pope will be made available for streaming and download. The audio version of the track will also available to stream from the same date.
CHANGESNOWBOWIE was recorded and mixed at Looking Glass Studios in New York in November 1996. Gail Ann Dorsey (bass, vocals), Reeves Gabrels (guitars, vocals) and Mark Plati (keyboards and programming) accompanied David on the recording.
CHANGESNOWBOWIE will be released in limited quantities on LP and CD for Record Store Day on 20th June, 2020. The cover art for the album features a stunning black and white portrait of David by renowned photographer Albert Watson, taken in New York in 1996.

With countless members of the Canadian music community impacted by COVID-19, actor, singer, activist and philanthropic tour de force Tom Jackson is rallying fellow artists to aid peers with the launch of a new digital variety series, Almighty Voices.
Certain to inspire, entertain, and inform audiences — and in support of the Unison Benevolent Fund, a non-profit registered charity providing counselling and emergency relief services to the Canadian music community — the hour-long video series will air 12 weekly episodes starting Sunday, April 5th, 2020 via YouTube and AlmightyVoices.ca
Hosted by Jackson, episodes will feature Governor General’s Performing Arts Award recipient, singer/songwriter and philanthropist Susan Aglukark, actress and singer Cynthia Dale, actress and singer/songwriter Beverley Mahood, multi JUNO Award-nominee Sarah Slean, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, multi JUNO Award-winner and Humanitarian Award recipient Chantal Kreviazuk, opera singer Measha Brueggergosman, multi JUNO Award-nominee and April Wine blues rocker/producer Myles Goodwyn, JUNO Award-winner Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, and more.
“‘Almighty Voice’ carries in its name the collective will to fight for one’s family — blood, or imagined,” Jackson shares of the initiative’s title, which is also a family name. “Its Cree translation is Gitchi Manitou Wayo, and was the name of my Great-Great-Great Uncle, a youthful hero whose passion to save his family from starvation turned into tragedy.”
To that, Almighty Voices shows “we’re all in this together,” says Jackson of the artist-lead project.
“In the wake of COVID-19’s impact on the music industry, we are incredibly grateful to partner with Tom Jackson to announce the launch of Almighty Voices,” says Unison’s Executive Director, Amanda Power. “Now more than ever, members of our music community are depending on the Unison COVID-19 Relief Program, and this initiative allows us to continue providing direct relief for music-makers and music professionals in this time of great uncertainty and need.”
Additionally, the Unison Benevolent Fund is part of the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief Project; Spotify will match donations made via https://unisonfund.ca/donations/almightyvoices dollar for dollar up to a collective total of $10 million across their select partners.
Looking ahead, Almighty Voices will feature Canadian music — and the country’s spirit — at its finest, Jackson reveals.
“In addition to music and stories, we will share the wisdom of our Elders, express kindness, and explore essential ways to create health, and put health at the forefront, versus managing disease. While we learn how to determine what is urgent and important in this ever-changing time, the music community can engage people to leap, learn, laugh, and love. In return, the support received will ensure our music community survives. It is my hope the program connects us all.”
Both responding quickly to an unexpected crisis and inviting peers to contribute towards a notable cause are natural instincts and extensions of Jackson’s long-time philanthropic and fundraising efforts; to date, he has helped usher more than $230 million in funds and in-kind services to various charities and relief organizations.
Almighty Voices will launch with support from Universal Music, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards, The Walrus, CPO, Joe Media Group, Eric Alper Public Relations, Echohill Web Sites, and Mobile Giving Foundation, in an effort to raise funds for the Unison Benevolent Fund.

Counselling and Health Solutions supported by RBC Foundation: Through voluntary and confidential support services, eligible Canadian music makers are able to access qualified professionals who can provide counselling and other resources to support individuals and their immediate family members dealing with mental health, legal guidance, family and relationships counselling, or work-related concerns.
The Unison Benevolent Fund is funded by support from individuals and industry organizations. All services and information is provided in English and French.
Unison will never charge dues or fees for membership or for access to any assistance program.

There are entertainment legends, and then there is Tom Jackson, a triple-threat actor, musician, and activist whose achievements in each discipline are downright head-spinning. His career is unparalleled, not to mention wildly acclaimed, abundantly decorated, and almost ridiculously interesting. Heck, he could be a pub night trivia category all by himself.

Johnny Cash’s Mercury Albums Newly Remastered For Comprehensive Six Album Vinyl And CD Box Sets, Announced For Release On April 21
In the mid-1980s as Johnny Cash found himself between labels, Mercury Records snatched up the country legend for what would end up being a prolific string of six albums in five years. The records, released from 1986 to 1991, were a diverse collection that included a notable reunion with fellow Sun Records alumni Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, star-studded collaborations with Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney, Glen Campbell, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris, Hank Williams Jr. and others, inspired takes on songs from Elvis Costello, Guy Clark and Harry Chapin, the Man in Black revisiting his classic hits, and some of the finest songs ever written by Cash. Despite the quality of material, Cash’s stint with Mercury has never been revisited—until now.
On April 24, Cash’s often overlooked and under appreciated chapter of his body of work will be showcased with a suite of releases including a comprehensive new box set, The Complete Mercury Recordings 1986-1991, and a new greatest hits album, Easy Rider: The Best Of The Mercury Recordings, a newly assembled collection that compiles 24 highlights selected from Cash’s Mercury catalog. Easy Rider will be released as a single CD, double LP and digital download.
The Complete Mercury Recordings 1986-1991, available on 7CD or 7LP on 180-gram vinyl, collects all six albums – Class of ’55: Memphis Rock & Roll Homecoming (1986), Johnny Cash Is Coming to Town (1987), Water from the Wells of Home (1988), Classic Cash: Hall of Fame Series (1988), Boom Chicka Boom (1990) and The Mystery of Life (1991), and – that Cash recorded during his Mercury tenure and presents them together for the first time in a handsome slipcase emblazoned with the distinctive bold Cash logo. All of the albums have been remastered from the original Mercury master tapes by noted engineer Kevin Reeves at UMG Studios Nashville. The set was assembled by Grammy Award-winning producer Bill Levenson and features extensive new liner notes by veteran music journalist Scott Schinder.
Also on April 24, all of the albums will be released individually on 180-gram black vinyl, with Classic Cash: Hall Of Fame Series as a two-LP set. This marks the first time that Cash’s Mercury albums have been reissued.
The CD version of The Complete Mercury Recordings 1986-1991 is augmented with several rare or previously unreleased tracks and an additional 20-track disc of spare early mixes aptly titled Classic Cash: Hall Of Fame Series (Early Mixes), mastered from tapes newly discovered in the Mercury vaults. Although these never-before-heard versions are not included in the vinyl box, they’re being released on April 18 as a Record Store Day exclusive, as a stand-alone limited edition double LP.
While the mid ‘80s to early ‘90s saw Cash, who was still touring heavily, a bit creatively adrift, he never stopped making distinctive, personally charged music. Signing with Mercury after ending his almost 30-year relationship with Columbia, Cash’s output for Mercury demonstrated that his musical gifts remained as sharp as ever.
Cash’s first album for Mercury, the all-star session, Class of ’55: Memphis Rock & Roll Homecoming, reunited him with fellow Sun Records alumni Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins. With veteran Memphis producer Chips Moman behind the board, the four singers tackle a mix of old and new material, including the Cash-led “I Will Rock and Roll with You” and the Presley tribute, “We Remember the King”. Another Elvis ode, John Fogerty’s “Big Train from Memphis”, features a vocal chorus that includes Fogerty, June Carter Cash, Rick Nelson, Dave Edmunds, Dan Penn and the Judds.
Johnny Cash Is Coming to Town reteamed Cash with producer “Cowboy” Jack Clement, who as Sun Records’ house engineer had overseen many of Cash’s ’50s sessions and written some of his early hits. The album’s studio team includes wife June Carter Cash and her singing siblings Anita and Helen and daughter Carlene Carter, Cash’s then son-in-law Marty Stuart, and Waylon Jennings, who lends his voice to the warmly nostalgic “The Night Hank Williams Came to Town”. Other highlights include rousing readings of Elvis Costello’s “The Big Light” and James Talley’s “W. Lee O’Daniel (and the Light Crust Dough Boys)”.
With Clement producing again, the star-studded Water from the Wells of Home features guest appearances by Cash’s wife June Carter Cash and daughter Rosanne Cash, along with Glen Campbell, Jessi Colter, the Everly Brothers, Tom T. Hall, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney and Hank Williams Jr. on an eclectic set of material including “That Old Wheel”, a duet with Williams that became Cash’s highest-charting single in over a decade.
Classic Cash: Hall of Fame Series finds Cash revisiting such vintage classics as “I Walk the Line”, “Ring of Fire”, “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Get Rhythm”, “I Still Miss Someone” and “Sunday Morning Coming Down” with considerable gusto.
With veteran Nashville musician Bob Moore producing, Boom Chicka Boom —named in honour of the trademark rhythm that Cash pioneered in the ’50s—is a straightforward vehicle for Cash’s talent, vision and humour. Highlights include the surreal Cash composition “A Backstage Pass”, a remake of Harry Chapin’s “Cat’s in the Cradle” and the poignant “Hidden Shame”, which Elvis Costello wrote for Cash. The CD of Boom Chicka Boom includes seven bonus tracks not on the original album, including several b-sides and early versions and the unreleased gem “I Draw The Line”.
The Mystery of Life, again produced by Clement, emphasized Cash’s own songwriting, e.g. “The Greatest Cowboy of Them All” and “I’m An Easy Rider”, while also dipping into the songbooks of Tom T. Hall and John Prine. The CD version of The Mystery of Life also includes Cash’s historic collaboration with U2, “The Wanderer”, which appears as an extended version previously released only on the soundtrack album of director Wim Wenders’ film “Faraway, So Close”. The song also closes out the best of collection.
The Complete Mercury Recordings 1986-1991 and Easy Rider: The Best Of The Mercury Recording represent an overdue deep dive into Johnny Cash’s Mercury catalog, revealing its importance as the bridge between his better-known work for other labels. As mentioned by Schinder in the box set’s liner notes, these recordings “stand as a notable transitional body of work, and an illuminating prelude to the full-blown creative resurgence that Cash would experience in the 1990s.”

Bob Marley: Legacy Documentary Series Continues With Episode Two: “Women Rising”
In honour of Women’s History Month, the Bob Marley: Legacy mini-documentary series continues with episode two: “Women Rising.” The moving and empowering short premiered today on Bob Marley’s official YouTube channel and features interviews with Rita Marley, also known as Bob Marley’s wife and the matriarch of the Marley Family, whose strength and character is an inspiration for people around the world. Rita was an integral part of the Wailers musical development, as well as a constant presence and influence in Bob Marley’s life, guardian of his legacy, and a member of the Iconic Reggae Group I-Threes. Mrs. Marley is also the founder of the Rita Marley Foundation, which works to eradicate poverty and hunger while empowering communities in Ghana and Jamaica. Her life’s work epitomizes integrity and grace.
Bob Marley: Legacy Episode 2 – “Women Rising” also features Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt of the I-Threes, Mystic Marley, Donisha Prendergast, academic and writer Isis Semaj-Hall, former activist, campaigner and former councilor Seyi Akiwowo and Stella Dadzie writer & historian, Kim Walker, photographer, and more championing women and the messages in Bob Marley’s music.
The documentary follows the EP release of Keep On Moving, which features an extended and radio mix and an exclusive mix from Sly & Robbie.
