Paul Mccartney’s ‘McCartney’ Will Receive A Special 50th Anniversary Release

0

On April 18, 2020 one of the greatest solo debuts in rock history, Paul McCartney’s McCartney, will receive a special 50th anniversary release in a limited-edition half-speed mastered vinyl pressing for Record Store Day.

Originally released in April 1970, one month before The Beatles’ swansong Let It Be, McCartney saw Paul getting back to basics. Writing every song and playing every instrument (with backing vocals from Linda McCartney), the eponymous album represented a creative rebirth, bursting with new ideas, experiments, playfulness and freedom. Sonically, McCartney’s bare-bones home recording aesthetic imbued the album with an authentic lo-fi spirit, a much sought after sound that continues to retain a contemporary edge 50 years on.

In contrast to the professional difficulties that came with the demise of the world’s most iconic band, Paul was personally enjoying the contentment of family life as a newly married father. In a Q&A released at the time, Paul described the theme and feel of the album as, “Home, family, love.” This is obvious from the opening notes of Lovely Linda throughout the album, with tracks like Every Night and Man We Was Lonely musing on how much Paul’s life had improved—and nowhere more poignantly than on the tour de force Maybe I’m Amazed. Paul’s timeless tribute to Linda would be recognized as one of contemporary music’s great love songs, and remains a staple of Paul’s live set to this day, never failing to inspire tears of joy with its refrain of “Maybe I’m a man in the middle of something that he doesn’t really understand. Maybe I’m a man. Maybe you’re the only woman who can ever help me. Baby won’t you help me understand”.

Linda’s presence is also felt in the album’s iconic artwork: the front cover’s bowl of cherries photographed by her on holiday in Antigua, and the back cover’s portrait of Paul with daughter Mary as a baby, photographed on the family’s farm in Scotland where some of the album was also written.

50 years and counting, McCartney offers an incredible insight into the mind of one of the world’s greatest ever songwriters. The homespun spirit of the album and Paul’s taste for experimentation capture a unique moment in time: The very first steps of an unparalleled solo career that has seen Paul McCartney release decades worth of critically acclaimed commercial blockbuster albums including RAM, Band on the Run, Venus and Mars, Tug of War, Pipes of Peace, Flowers in the Dirt, Flaming Pie, Memory Almost Full, NEW and most recently 2018’s #1-charting Egypt Station.

The 50th anniversary Record Store Day limited edition of McCartney was pressed from a master cut by Miles Showell at half speed using the original 1970 master tapes at Abbey Road Studios. It was made as a vinyl specific transfer in high resolution and without digital peak limiting for the best possible reproduction.

3 Tips to accentuate and improve your singing voice every day

0

All of us have a certain affinity for singing and music that, in a way, comes naturally to us. We admire our favorite singers and vocal artists when they sing songs that organically become our favorites over time when we hear and sing them repeatedly. For most of us, there’s hardly any day that goes without listening to music.  However, today, having a soulful voice is no more a trade secret. Nowadays, there are a bountiful of tricks and tips that can help improve your singing voice with just a few simple vocal tweaks.

First – Fix the movements of your jaw

Malini, who offers online write my essay for me services, says that the mouth is the primary projector of all the vocal outputs. To ensure proper vocalization of the musical notes and to enjoy a louder and a fuller singing voice, you need to assure that while singing, your jaws are fully open. A simple trick to it is observing the movements of your jaw in the mirror while pronouncing the vowels A-E-I-O-U aloud. Give keen attention to the vowels where your jaw shuts down. There’s a possibility that the vowels where your mouth is closed are U and E. Further, there can be other vowels, too, if it isn’t all of them.

Additionally, you can try to prop the jaws open using a wine cork or a bottle cap, and then try to pronounce these vowels one more time. With that, there’ll be a mega difference in the loudness of the voice. Once you do that, you will have to repeat this exercise, but now without the cap. Do ensure that now you keep your jaw properly open while pronouncing the vowels. You can repeat this exercise until this jaw movement is stuck into your muscle memory, and you start doing it even involuntarily. At the end of a few days, post the exercise, you’ll see a marked improvement in the fullness and the loudness of your sound. It would also reduce the strain on your voice.

Second – Maintain a good posture

Chloe, who offers online statistics homework help services, says that a lot of us take our posture for granted, especially while we are singing. If truth be told, maintaining a good posture helps you improve your voice. Let me explain how. When you stand up straight, you give a chance to your diaphragm to expand to its full potential. As a result of it, you can take in the maximum air possible. So, when you release this air out, your vocal cords experience a certain vibration.

Now, when you sing while being in a good posture, there’s a better flow of air from your body. Moreover, a good posture goes a long way in clearing up all the obstruction in the way of your throat. It also helps enunciate the words in a much better way. On the other hand, when your body posture is bad, it can cause a bit of tension in the body and will harm your singing voice. So, always maintain a good posture to ensure easier breathing. It helps in holding the notes for a much longer time, and you have to spend less energy when singing.

Third – Exercise Breathing

Mahira, who offers online assignment help Australiasays that human voice can be equated to a wind instrument, and breathing plays a pivotal role in singing. It is, thus, important to know how to breathe when singing for a better output. It is just not that. The ability to breathe properly has far too many benefits.

For instance, breathing properly helps you get a good grip over higher notes, gets you a more finished tone, and projects a fuller and clearer voice when singing. There’s only one big secret here – breathe via your diaphragm and not your chest. You need to practice breathing from the diaphragm. It can be done by only allowing your abdomen to move. Again, repeat this activity till it becomes a routine, and is registered in your muscle memory. After you get a hold of breathing from your diaphragm, you can then practice controlled breathing. It is necessary for songs that have faster lyrics that leave you with little breathing time. So, doing so, you wouldn’t ever feel short of breath when singing fast-paced songs.

So, these are three important ways to help you better your singing voice. Similar to exercising, you can work on your voice and improve the quality of your singing. Kiara, who offers the best product management courses online, says it is quintessential for all of us to find our natural range of voice, and just be comfortable with our voice. In the end, don’t forget to warm up every day for maintaining a melody in your singing.

The Go-Go’s Kathy Valentine will release memoir, All I Ever Wanted, along with a Soundtrack to the book

0

The Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine has a new memoir, titled All I Ever Wanted, that will be out March 31.

At twenty-one, Kathy Valentine was at the Whisky in Los Angeles when she met a guitarist from a fledgling band called the Go-Go’s—and the band needed a bassist. The Go-Go’s became the first multi-platinum-selling, all-female band to play instruments themselves, write their own songs, and have a number one album. Their debut, Beauty and the Beat, spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and featured the hit songs “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed.” The record’s success brought the pressures of a relentless workload and schedule culminating in a wild, hazy, substance-fueled tour that took the band from the club circuit to arenas, where fans, promoters, and crew were more than ready to keep the party going.

For Valentine, the band’s success was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream—but it’s only part of her story. All I Ever Wanted traces the path that took her from her childhood in Texas—where she all but raised herself—to the height of rock ‘n’ roll stardom, devastation after the collapse of the band that had come to define her, and the quest to regain her sense of self after its end. Valentine also speaks candidly about the lasting effects of parental betrayal, abortion, rape, and her struggles with drugs and alcohol—and the music that saved her every step of the way.

17-year-old singer-songwriter sensation ren releases her latest single and video for “i drive me mad” – off her upcoming debut EP teenage angst due March 13 via Interscope Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The frenetic power-pop anthem and accompanying video addresses the suffocating chokehold of anxiety.

Of writing the song ren states, “I drive me mad is a really important song to me because it’s really a look inside my brain and the anxiety and panic I deal with nearly everyday. I wrote this song after having a really bad panic attack and it made it so honest and easy to write. It’s the first song I’m putting out that I feel like has a really important relatable message and I’m super excited about this one!”

The track follows her previous releases off the genre-spanning EP – the grungey, guitar-driven “idc,” and “new way” which showcases her captivating and distinctive vocals.

ren released her debut single “waves” in early 2019, followed by “mind games” in June, which have since racked up over 8 million streams. The songs landed her on lists such as Apple Music’s Artist of the Week (May 2019) & Soundcloud’s Artist to Watch (August 2019).

Toronto’s Alt Wave Art Pop Artist Kendal Thompson Goes Classic Fantastic in New Video for “Not UR Girl” — Available Now!

0

Toronto’s alt. wave, art pop artist Kendal Thompson (literally) exercises her acting chops in this, her latest video for “Not UR Girl” — available now!

“The song was born from a place of gaining back my power,” she shares. “It helped me understand that my happiness relied on belonging to no one other than myself.”

“Not UR Girl” is Thompson’s latest from her most recent album, Ok Cool. The deeply personal collection of songs picks up where previous single, “Human Feel” — and its exploration of universal love and acceptance of both one’s self and others — leaves off, and serves as a welcome follow-up to her take-notice debut EP, One, and feature in John Orpheus’ song, “BUTTAHFLY.”

The tracks stack as spirited sand in the Canadian artist’s creative castle, one that essentially started with a borrowed, near-free guitar. “I began singing and making up songs at the age of three,” she recalls of her earliest toe-dip into the craft. “I started taking vocal lessons at age 12 and, by then, was gathering classmates for rehearsals for a girl-group.

“It never received a name, or made it out of the playground,” she laughs, but reveals it did lay ground for her next set of musical discoveries. “From there, and in my early teens, I was inspired almost solely by Lauryn Hill. Soon after, I adopted a guitar my father had purchased years earlier for $10 at a local auction.”

The added musical outlet and freedom expression took Thompson’s writing to a whole new level, she recognized, and as soon as she could, the Alliston, Ontario-born artist leaped into a new life in Toronto, quickly finding a home in the local folk and indie circuit.

While “Not UR Girl”s vision is Thompson’s — with co-writes and production credits by long-time collaborator, Little Noise Records’ Mike Schlosser — she’s equally quick to plant praise on director Jessamine Fok’s shoulders for bringing an imaginative sense of humour and sense of refreshed creative life to the project.

“Jessamine’s ideas had me really reaching outside of my comfort zone,” Thompson says of the spectacularly retro-esque video’s vibe. “I got to explore and show a side of myself only my friends have seen.

“In terms of not being an actor, and then acting out all of the characters, it helped me rediscover a different side of myself. Dressing and acting as the male character — ‘Mikey Rock’ — was such a liberating experience.”

“Not UR Girl” is available now.
