This “garage band” from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide. Tim McGraw Announces “Here On Earth” Tour

Tim McGraw started the year off right with a headline show at the College Football Playoff Game, performing his new song “Way Down” from a forthcoming album later this year & his Nielsen BDS certified ‘Most Played Radio Song of the Decade’ hit “Something Like That,” and simultaneously announced the major HERE ON EARTH TOUR for 2020. McGraw will join forces with reigning CMA Vocalist of the Year Luke Combs for two can’t-miss summer stadium shows in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Special guest Midland will join the entire tour, and Ingrid Andress will open the show on all dates. Ani DiFranco Announces Special Guest Jesca Hoop for February Tour Dates

Singer/songwriter/feminist/activist author Ani DiFranco announced her next round of shows starting February 7, with special guest Jesca Hoop. The February tour supports DiFranco’s 2019 memoir, No Walls and the Recurring Dream and the accompanying No Walls Mixtape. A full list of tour dates is below.

About joining the tour, Hoop notes, “Across the last shows of my November 2019 tour, Ani DiFranco would cross my mind as I sang to the rooms of loving listeners. This was unusual and remarkable. Having now received the call to support Ani, these “visitations” make a bit more sense. It is with joy and gratitude that I join the ride to warm the room for the first girl who lit a fire in me…and through her tiny enormous presence on stage communicated directly to me that ‘I CAN DO IT.’”

On January 22, DiFranco will be awarded the prestigious ‘People’s Voice Award’ at the 2020 Folk Alliance International Conference. The People’s Voice Award is presented to an individual who unabashedly embraces social and political commentary in their creative work and public careers. Past recipients include Bruce Cockburn, Bonnie Raitt and Buffy St. Marie. On January 23, DiFranco will also host a panel at the conference discussing No Walls and the Recurring Dream, and on January 25 she teams up with Zoe Bookbinder and Leyla McCalla for “Art as Activism as seen through Zoe Boekbinder & Ani DiFranco’s Prison Music Project.” The panel previews the forthcoming prison music album Long Time Gone as a template for combining art and activism.

Widely considered a feminist icon, Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, being one of the first artists to create her own record label in 1990. While she has been known as the “Little Folksinger,” her music has embraced punk, funk, hip hop, jazz, soul, electronica and even more distant sounds. Her collaborators have included everyone from Utah Phillips to legendary R&B saxophonist Maceo Parker to Prince. She has shared stages with Justin Vernon, David Byrne, The National, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Bragg, Michael Franti, Chuck D., and many more.

Her most recent studio album Binary was released in June 2017 on Righteous Babe Records. Over the years she’s performed at countless benefit concerts, donated songs to many charity albums, and given time and energy to many progressive causes. She has learned from and demonstrated beside Gloria Steinem, Jesse Jackson and Dennis Kucinich. In 2004, she marched in the front row of the March for Women’s Lives along with Margaret Cho, Janeane Garofalo, Whoopi Goldberg, and many others, later performing on the main stage. She has beaten the drum for voter registration and turnout with “Vote Dammit” tours in multiple presidential election years, including most recently in 2016. The Stand Up To Cancer Canada Kate McGarrigle Fund announced today the “Music As Healing” Grant Program, an initiative that will encourage both cancer patients and cancer survivors, to share their cancer journey through original music compositions. Cancer patients and survivors are invited to submit original compositions (music and lyrics) to compete for ten grants.

The SU2C Canada Kate McGarrigle Fund is a new collaborative program that aims to provide music resources to cancer patients with a passion for music, as well as much-needed funds for sarcoma research. This program honors the memory of Kate McGarrigle, a Canadian folk music singer-songwriter who wrote and performed as a duo with her sister Anna McGarrigle. She is the mother of singers Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright from her marriage to American singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III. Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, composer, Rufus Wainwright serves as Ambassador for the Stand Up To Cancer Canada Kate McGarrigle Fund. Canadian folk-rock singer, songwriter Martha Wainwright serves as Music Director for the Music As Healing program.

Up to ten finalists will be selected to receive up to $2500 USD as a Music As Healing grant, to support the professional recording of their original composition. Some finalist songs may be compiled into a digital Music As Healing recording for sale, to benefit the Kate McGarrigle Fund for both continuation of the Music As Healing program and sarcoma research.

“SU2C has been focused on ending cancer as we know it, through research into prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Music As Healing provides SU2C the opportunity to collaborate with Martha Wainwright and Rufus Wainwright to celebrate music’s potential to heal, while raising funds needed for sarcoma research,” stated SU2C Chief Executive Officer Sung Poblete, PhD, RN.

From now through March 2, 2020, 5pm ET, the Music As Healing program will accept applications from cancer patients in active cancer treatment or care, or cancer survivors, who reside in Canada and the United States. Selection of the ten finalists will be made by the Music As Healing Selection Panel, comprising an array of music and cancer professionals and advocates. “Music was a constant, a natural extension of daily life for our mother, who was often described as a luminous singer,” stated Martha Wainwright, music director for Music As Healing. “I’m hoping that Music As Healing extends her legacy by illustrating through the songs that will be recorded, and through the listening experience of cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones, how music can provide a bright, shining light through the darkness that can accompany a cancer diagnosis.”

Research has demonstrated that music reduces the side effects of cancer treatment by reducing anxiety during treatment and quelling nausea and vomiting for patients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It helps to reduce stress and mitigates both acute and chronic pain. Music also serves to create social connections and a sense of community which can help cancer patients to create supportive and positive aspects in their shared experience.

“The power and freedom to express oneself through music and art is fundamental to our well-being, more so in a time of crisis such as receiving a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment, or living as a cancer survivor. The Wainwright’s live and breathe music and we’ve witnessed, first-hand, the power and importance of music as a healing force,” continued Martha Wainwright. The Music As Healing grants create a unique opportunity for musician-composers who share the common experience of a cancer journey.

Patient advocate and member of the Music As Healing Selection Panel, Jill Hamer-Wilson, added “When I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013 and underwent chemotherapy and several experimental targeted therapies in a clinical trial, music became a shared comfort and joy with my husband and children. Cancer can be a very uncertain time for patients and their loved ones, but sharing music made it possible for us to enjoy time together in something not tied to my disease.”

Cancer patients and survivors ages 15 through adults may apply. The application requires a brief essay describing how their original composition represents, or is inspired by, their personal cancer journey.

Each applicant is required to submit a sample music file, up to 2 (two) minutes, of their original composition reflecting their cancer diagnosis, treatment or life as a survivor. The song is not required to be a literal retelling of a personal cancer experience, but may convey any of the emotions and experiences of cancer patients and survivors, such as hope/optimism, worry/fear, or love for family/ friends/caretakers. All compositions must include lyrics.

When Kate McGarrigle was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2007, it became her mission to combat the disease. After her death in 2010, Rufus, Martha and the Wainwright family have carried on her musical and artist legacy while also funding sarcoma research. Each year, Rufus and Martha Wainwright and several of their well-known musical friends produce a series of holiday concerts in select cities across North America and Europe. These concerts will now benefit the SU2C Kate McGarrigle Fund which exists to fund sarcoma research and this Music As Healing program. Most recently, the Wainwrights brought this concert series to Dublin and London in December 2019.

Stand Up To Cancer Canada is a Canadian registered charity (Reg: # 80550 6730 RR0001), launched by the U.S.-based Entertainment Industry Foundation in 2014. Stand Up To Cancer Canada (SU2C Canada) raises funds to support collaborative cancer research teams, as well as education and awareness programs conducted in Canada.

Under the direction of our SU2C Canada Scientific Advisory Committee, co-led by Alan Bernstein, Ph.D., president of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) and Nobel laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., SU2C Canada operates rigorous competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and ensure collaboration across research programs. The ONE LOVE celebrations will encompass all things music, fashion, art, photography, technology, sport and film, providing fans unprecedented access to archives from the legendary artist’s estate in new, thoughtful, and innovative ways. THE ONE LOVE HOTEL presented by MASTERCARD for GRAMMY Week 2020, invoking Marley’s global hit, “One Love”, will take place at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood. Primary Wave Music Publishing, Island Records, and the Marley Family will host a full slate of events at THE ONE LOVE HOTEL presented by MASTERCARD. There will be a pop-up shop offering Marley product exclusively for GRAMMY Week including a high-end capsule collection featuring the art created for the Redemption Song video, House of Marley consumer electronics, and Bob Marley vinyl. An all-star roster of Island Records’ talent will be on hand for performances and activations at THE ONE LOVE HOTEL presented by MASTERCARD (at 1 Hotel West Hollywood) during the week. Skip Marley, the grandson of Bob Marley, will launch the event on Tuesday night with Marley family and friends in attendance. Wednesday night will feature DJ sets from iHeart Radio Music Award nominated production duo, NOTD as well as genre-defying artist Shallou. Thursday will present platinum-certified recording artist, Bishop Briggs, with a special performance from Julian Marley, son of Bob Marley and a 2x GRAMMY-nominated artist whose current album: AS I AM has been nominated for “Best Reggae Album” 2020. Friday will feature recent Urban One Honors performer Jac Ross, and critically acclaimed GRAMMY-nominated Jessie Reyez (whose debut album arrives early 2020). Saturday night will roll out a gala pre-GRAMMY party with special guest DJ, co-hosted by Primary Wave Music Publishing, Island Records and Mastercard. Throughout the week Mastercard cardholders will have exclusive access to events and happenings at the hotel. Matchbox Twenty, the multi-platinum, hit-making pop rock band, announced today a 50+ date summer tour. Produced by Live Nation, “Matchbox Twenty 2020” will get underway on July 17 at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, PA and will wrap-up with an epic night under the stars at L.A.’s iconic Hollywood Bowl on September 28. All dates will also feature special guest The Wallflowers.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1989 by singer-songwriter Jakob Dylan, The Wallflowers have won two GRAMMY® Awards and earned a string of Gold and Platinum albums since their eponymous debut album in 1992.

The Wallflowers released Bringing Down the Horse in 1996, which featured the hit songs “One Headlight,” “6th Avenue Heartache,” “3 Marlenas” and “The Difference.” “One Headlight” received two GRAMMY® Awards (“Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” and “Best Rock Song”) in 1998 and is also listed at No. 58 in Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Pop Songs.” In 1998, their cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” for the Godzilla soundtrack was Top 10 rock track, as well. Jakob Dylan starred in Echo In the Canyon, one of 2019’s most successful theatrical documentaries. Jann Arden to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at The 2020 JUNO Awards

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is thrilled to announce multi-platinum award-winning singer and songwriter Jann Arden as the first 2020 inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. With accolades that include 19 top 10 singles and eight JUNO Awards, Arden is a beloved Canadian musical artist and personality. To celebrate her induction during The 49th Annual JUNO Awards on Sunday, March 15, 2020, Arden will grace the stage and perform live from the SaskTel Centre. Fans can tune in to this special performance as part of The 2020 JUNO Awards broadcast live in Canada on CBC, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, and the CBC Listen app. The awards will also be available for audiences outside of Canada to stream at cbcmusic.ca/junos.

The Canadian Music Hall of Fame was established by CARAS in 1978 to acknowledge artists that have made an outstanding contribution to the international recognition of Canadian music. Arden will join the ranks of Canadian music icons including Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, Barenaked Ladies, Corey Hart, Joni Mitchell, k.d. lang, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, RUSH, The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip, Sarah McLachlan, Shania Twain, and many more. In 2016 the Canadian Music Hall of Fame found a permanent home with the opening of Calgary’s Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre (NMC). NMC will launch a new Canadian Music Hall of Fame exhibition on March 20, 2020, featuring personal artifacts and memorabilia from Arden.

Jann Arden is an acclaimed singer, songwriter, actress, broadcaster and author. Born and raised in Alberta, Arden catapulted onto the Canadian music scene in 1993 with the release of her debut album Time For Mercy featuring the hit single, “I Would Die For You.” Her follow-up album Living Under June featured her smash hit, “Insensitive,” which solidified her position in the music scene across Canada and beyond. To date, Arden has released 14 albums and achieved 19 top 10 singles. Her most recent album, These Are The Days, was released in 2018 and she completed a highly successful 27 date Canadian tour that same year.

Arden’s impressive list of accolades include eight JUNO Awards including Best New Solo Artist and Songwriter of the Year, 10 SOCAN Awards, four Western Canadian Music Awards, a Much Music Video Award, three Prairie Music Awards and an Alberta Recording Industry Association Award. Arden has also been honoured with a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, inducted into the Western Canadian Music Alliance Hall of Fame and Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, as well as the Order of Canada.

A versatile artist, Arden’s hit sitcom JANN, where she stars as a fictionalized version of herself, has been renewed for a second season. She previously appeared in sitcoms including Ellen and Corner Gas, has been involved in Working Moms and The Detour and appeared in The Vagina Monologues when it toured Canada.

Arden hosted CBC Radio’s Being Jann, sat in the judge’s chair for Canada Sings, and has made guest appearances on CBC’s Rick Mercer Report as well as regularly appearing as a guest host on The Social.

As an author, her most recent book Feeding My Mother – Comfort and Laughter in the Kitchen as My Mom Lives with Memory Loss spent 21 consecutive weeks on the The Globe & Mail’s Bestsellers List. Previous releases include If I Knew, Don’t You Think I’d Tell You, I’ll Tell You One Damn Thing, and That’s All I Know, and her self-penned memoir Falling Backwards.

Pearl Jam Announces Album, Gigaton, and North American Spring Tour Dates

Pearl Jam will release their much-anticipated eleventh studio album, Gigaton, on Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records on March 27, 2020 in the US. Internationally, the album will be released and distributed by Universal Music Group. Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam, Gigaton marks the band’s first studio album since GRAMMY award-winning Lightning Bolt, which was released on October 15, 2013.

The first single, “Dance of the Clairvoyants”, will be released in the coming weeks.

“Making this record was a long journey,” explains Mike McCready. “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”

Gigaton’s cover features Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist Paul Nicklen’s photo “Ice Waterfall.” Taken in Svalbard, Norway, this image features the Nordaustlandet ice cap gushing high volumes of meltwater.

In support of Gigaton, Pearl Jam will embark on their first leg of North American tour dates in March and April. The 16-date tour kicks-off on March 18 in Toronto and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18-19. Full tour dates follow.

Pearl Jam’s North American tour is in addition to the band’s previously announced European summer tour.
