Stone Temple Pilots Announce First Acoustic Album And Tour

0

Stone Temple Pilots embark upon a new sonic adventure with Perdida, the band’s first-ever acoustic album. It features 10 deeply personal songs that weave introspective lyrics together with unexpected instruments to take listeners on an emotional and musical journey through letting go and starting over.

Perdida will be available on February 7, and the group will also launch a 15-date acoustic tour shortly before the album comes out. At each performance, the band will not only recreate the sound of Perdida, but also reimagine other songs from the group’s multi-platinum catalog. The tour begins February 5 in Vancouver BC and ends March 1 in Boston. See tour dates below.

Perdida, the band’s eighth studio album, features guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, drummer Eric Kretz and vocalist Jeff Gutt, who joined Stone Temple Pilots in 2017. The band produced the album and recorded the majority of it earlier this year at Kretz’s Bomb Shelter Studio.

Dean says the album’s title (Spanish for “loss”) foreshadows its somber mood. “You have to live it to write it, and this record is a reflection of where we’ve been recently.”

“Fare Thee Well” – the first single and first track on the album – establishes the wistful tone on Perdida right away with its acoustic guitar introduction and opening line: “Fare thee well, so long/I hate to say goodbye to you.”

Gutt says the album’s emotional honesty focused him lyrically. “I had to let myself be as vulnerable writing the lyrics as Dean and Robert were writing the music.”

Robert says Perdida is as much a musical journey as it is an emotional one thanks the touches of flute, alto saxophone, vintage keyboards, guitarrón and Marxophone featured throughout the album. “I’ve always loved how different instruments can accentuate a song in unexpected ways. Working with other musicians on this album was such a joy because it gave us a rare opportunity to hear our songs through someone else’s ears.”

Kretz says the band is looking forward to not only performing the new songs acoustically, but also pulling songs from previous albums into the setlist. “We’ll finally get a chance to play songs from our catalog that we’ve never played live, or in some cases, haven’t played live in more than 20 years.”

Robert says the band is looking forward to finally realizing that dream in February 2020. “We’re excited because it’s not only a chance for us to celebrate our new album in a special way, but also everything that’s brought us to this moment.”

Walk Off The Earth Announces Intimate And Interactive Canadian Tour Dates

0

Walk Off the Earth – the acclaimed Juno Award-winning multi-platinum pop band known for their innovative covers and catchy originals – have announced a slew of summer tour dates in their native Canada for June 2020. The band will play six shows in support of their current hit album HERE WE GO!, which recently debuted at #3 on Nielsen’s Top Canadian Albums Chart. The summer tour will be an intimate and interactive experience that the band says will be nothing like fans have seen before and will include performances at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage (June 26) and at Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.

Additionally, Walk Off the Earth will be heading to Atlantic Canada playing Halifax on June 11 and on June 12 and 13, the band will give special benefit performances in Saint John and Moncton respectively, which will benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation in New Brunswick. For over 60 years, Heart and Stroke has been dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke and their tireless work has saved thousands of lives and improved the lives of millions of others.

Walk Off the Earth recently released their latest album HERE WE GO! that debuted at #1 on Nielsen’s Pop Album Chart in the United States, #3 on Canada’s Top Albums Chart, and debuted in the Top 10 (at #6) on Billboard’s Album Sales Chart. The album, which is the band’s fifth studio effort, marks their first major release in over 4 years and since the unexpected loss of band member Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor late last year. HERE WE GO! features the band’s current hit single “I’ll Be There” that has become a streaming sensation worldwide and is making its way up the Hot AC and Top 40 radio charts in the U.S. and Canada.

Juno Award-winning and multi-platinum phenomenon, Walk Off the Earth, is currently taking the world by storm. Based just outside of Toronto, the band gained worldwide attention with their brilliant 5-people-playing-one-guitar interpretation of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” exploded on YouTube, garnering over 187 million views. Since then, the band has released a string of successful original songs including, “Red Hands” (#1 at AAA), “Fire In My Soul” and “Rule The World” (multi-platinum in Canada); sold out venues across the globe, from Red Rocks to Wembley, and collaborated with some of the biggest artists in the world including Keith Urban, Snoop Dogg, Nicky Romero, and Steve Aoki. In 2018, the band won a Streamy Award for Best Cover Song with their interpretation of Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You.” They also released a holiday EP, Subscribe to the Holidays, that charted as the #1 independent release in Canada for the last week of November.

Late last year, the band faced a major and unexpected loss with the sudden death of band member Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor. Mike’s incredible ability behind the keys gave the band a sturdy foundation to soar and create. In the wake of Mike’s passing, and with much difficult consideration, the band decided to move forward and use their platform to honor and share the extraordinary legacy he left behind.

The continued chemistry between band members Gianni, Sarah, Joel, and Marshall is undeniable. With Joel’s driving and prolific percussion work and Gianni, Sarah, and Marshall’s captivating vocal styling and melodic arrangements, 2019 continues to be a year full of new music with the release of the band’s highly anticipated fifth studio album HERE WE GO! available now via Golden Carrot Records/The Orchard. Walk Off the Earth’s independent spirit, unstoppable work ethic, and awe-inspiring creativity have catapulted the band to new and uncharted waters with only bigger and better things on the horizon.

Cream Goodbye Tour: Supergroup’s Live 1968 4CD Box Set To Be Released February 2020

0

Universal Music is delighted to announce the 4-CD, special edition of Cream’s Goodbye Tour Live 1968. Set for release in February 2020, this sumptuous set brings together 36 tracks, including 29 making their first appearance on CD, recorded during Cream’s farewell tour of the U.S. in October 1968 and their final UK date at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 26 of that same year. There are a total of 19 previously unreleased tracks, and a further 10 tracks from the Royal Albert Hall show, which have only ever been available on DVD. Rolling Stone magazine’s David Fricke supplies insightful liner notes, chronicling the group’s collective musical genius and their legendary final tour.

On its original release in February 1969, Goodbye, which combined live performances from their last tour dates with a handful of studio recordings, rose to the UK no. 1 slot and to no. 2 on the U.S. Billboard chart. This new expanded edition comprises three U.S. concerts; Oakland Coliseum, Los Angeles Forum, San Diego Sports Arena alongside London’s Royal Albert Hall. That Time Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and Queen’s Roger Taylor Lip Synced Led Zeppelin’s “Rock And Roll” In 1996

0

From the Rock and Roll WTF Files….he’s Jimmy Page to explain one of the strangest award show stories I’ve ever heard.

“Robert Plant and I had been invited to accept an award from Channel V – India’s premier music channel – and we had won an award for longevity.
“The highlight of the show were to be Los Del Rios, whose ‘Macarena’ song was a global hit at the time. Unfortunately at the last minute the duo pulled out of the trip as one of them had developed a sore throat; which was quite ironic considering they were going to mime. As it was, the chief dancer and choreographer of their video was to perform the song on her own. I believe this was the first time Channel V was doing this on an international level and now they had a bit of problem. They approached us to do something and of course we didn’t have any instruments and hadn’t rehearsed. It was suggested that we could mime Rock’n’Roll with Roger Taylor from Queen on drums (who was there to accept an award on behalf of Freddie Mercury) and a bass player from Goa.
“We agreed to it and did a quick rehearsal, I felt sorry for Channel V that they’d been let down by the Macarena boys. During the rehearsals the Goan bass player was well behaved but when it came to the show he suddenly developed a dose of Saint Vitus Dance and transformed into Billy Whiz crossed with the Flash. He couldn’t stop moving throughout the song and made it even more of a pantomime than it already was. But hey we did it and it was real good to be part of this special award show which is still being aired today”
