Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Announces Fall Headlining Shows Kicking Off November 30
Joe Perry, the legendary guitarist, co-founding member, principal songwriter and co-producer of Aerosmith, has just confirmed more shows in support of his 2018 SWEETZERLAND MANIFESTO (via his Roman Records imprint, distributed worldwide by AMPED Distribution) solo album. The headlining dates kick off November 30 in Iowa and include stops in New York, Detroit, Philadelphia and more before wrapping up with three Los Angeles-area shows. These performances follow gigs in April where PERRY debuted his new touring band featuring his Aerosmith bandmate Brad Whitford and Gary Cherone of Extreme taking on the lead vocals.
Along with choice cuts from his catalog of solo records, JOE will be performing rarely played Aerosmith classics from the band’s early records including “Toys In The Attic,” “Get Your Wings,” and “Rocks,” among others. SWEETZERLAND MANIFESTO marks Joe’s sixth solo album and is comprised of 10 new tracks all written or co-written by JOE (many with the album’s guest vocalists), except for a cover of “Eve Of Destruction” with JOE on lead vocals and Johnny Depp on drums. The album features guest appearances from a long list of Joe’s friends, colleagues and rock and roll icons. Highlights include “Aye, Aye, Aye,” which Joe co-wrote with the track’s vocalist Robin Zander, and three collaborations with David Johansen, who sings “I Wanna Roll,” “Haberdasher Blues,” and “I’m Going Crazy,” plus as many co-writes with Terry Reid whose lead vocals light up “I’ll Do Happiness” (with Zak Starkey on drums), “Sick & Tired” and “Won’t Let Me Go.” A few days before the album’s January release, Joe and his all-star band crushed it at a two-hour plus set at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

Arts & Crafts and Massey Hall Announce Live at Massey Hall Vinyl Release Series
“It’s the Tower of Song of which Leonard Cohen once sang. It’s the temple of music, the Grand Old Lady of Shuter Street, almost as old as the country itself…”
With these liner notes, celebrated author Michael Barclay entrenches the enormous musical history of Toronto’s Massey Hall. His words set the stage for a monumental new vinyl release series that captures the fascinating evolution of the venerated concert venue, a room that has housed timeless performances by everyone from Joni Mitchell to Glenn Gould since opening its doors in 1894.
Arts & Crafts, in collaboration with Massey Hall, announces the first edition in a collection of live compilations from the Live at Massey Hall concert film series, a new platform specially designed to spotlight Canada’s modern day frontier of music legends. Since its launch in 2014, Live at Massey Hall has created a space for emerging talent to flourish in its age-old hall. Now, the music of Live at Massey Hall is captured on record for the first time in a beautiful vinyl package exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday, available in participating independent record stores across North America on November 23.
Live at Massey Hall Vol 1 plays through with incredible emotional range, from the solitary intimacy of folk-inspired poets to the electric cacophony of basement-born rock bands. In each recording, the inimitable Hall and its audience play a palpable, vital role, reconciling these landmark nights in each artist’s career.
The record opens with Destroyer alone onstage with his acoustic guitar and elegant poetry, every nuance of his voice and strings filling the silence of the hall. Constantines taps into its punk rock gospel essence with spine-tingling call-and-response. Hayden channels the pulse of the city he came up in, invoking his early days as a performer and a phone call from Massey Hall hero Neil Young. Dan Mangan + Blacksmith stretches the experimental boundaries of against-the-grain folk, while Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton counter the stadium pop of her band Metric with her own deeper narratives.
Side two opens with the masterfully crafted storytelling of Regina, Saskatchewan’s Andy Shauf, followed by the palpable excitement of francophone Québecois artist Cœur de pirate’s incredible ascension to a sold-out Massey Hall. Bahamas delivers a pin-drop performance of precise songcraft and gorgeous restraint. Japandroids literally bring the house down with the aptly titled “The House That Heaven Built,” before Whitehorse drops the curtain with the heartstopping and serene “Die Alone.”
With the release of Live at Massey Hall Vol 1, Arts & Crafts announces that $1 from every sale of this series will be donated to Massey Hall to support the Massey Hall Revitalization. An historic, refurbishment, restoration, and addition set to enhance Massey Hall by 2020, supporting patron and artist accessibility, restoration of key structures in the National Historic Site, and significant investment in artist development and community outreach.

Taking Back Sunday Celebrate Their 20th Anniversary With A Year-Long Worldwide Tour
Craft Recordings is excited to announce a special collaboration with Taking Back Sunday, in celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary. As part of this year-long fête, the band will be embarking on an extensive worldwide tour, paying tribute to their catalog – and their fans – with full album performances. In conjunction, Craft will be releasing a special career (to date)-spanning compilation titled Twenty. The 21-song collection is set for release on January 11, 2019, and will span all seven of their full-length albums, in addition to a couple of surprises.
Stay tuned for the full track listing and format details, to be revealed very soon. The pre-order for Twenty will launch October 30, 2019.
“It feels strange to say out loud… 2019 marks 20 years since I joined Taking Back Sunday and my life changed forever,” remarks singer Adam Lazzara. “So, next year we will be traveling the world to celebrate the amazing brotherhood, musicand life we have created together over the past 20 years. We hope you can join us for what is sure to be an experience to remember.”
The first leg of the worldwide tour is being announced today and includes dates in Australia, Asia, a portion of North America and South America. At all shows, Taking Back Sunday will be performing their debut album Tell All Your Friends in its entirety. For tour stops where the band are performing over two-nights, each nightly set will offer a double-album play – using a specially designed coin, Taking Back Sunday will flip to play either Where You Want To Be or Louder Now in addition to Tell All Your Friends. In headline cities where they are playing only one night, they will perform Tell All Your Friends, plus a selection of fan favorites from their extensive catalog. With more dates and special releases in the works, 2019 should be a fun-filled year of shows around the globe.
If you can’t believe that Taking Back Sunday have been around for 20 years, you’re not alone, because they can’t either. Although the pride of Long Islandhave had a handful of member changes over the years, the current lineup of the band – vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist John Nolan, drummer Mark O’Connell and bassist Shaun Cooper – have all been there since the beginning. From the band’s landmark 2002 debut Tell All Your Friends to their most recent full-length, 2016’s Tidal Wave, Taking Back Sunday have evolved from a key player in the early 2000s emo scene to a genre-defying rock band who have three gold albums without ever ceasing to push the limitations of their sound. This fact is evidenced on Twenty.
Twenty is a celebration not only of those career-defining moments but of the landmark albums that chronicle the band’s story: 2002’s Tell All Your Friends, 2004’s Where You Want To Be, 2006’s Louder Now, 2009’s New Again, 2011’s Taking Back Sunday, 2014’s Happiness Is and 2016’s Tidal Wave, all of which are represented on this collection. Whether your introduction to the band was singing along to “A Decade Under The Influence” in a sweaty club or hearing “MakeDamnSure” or “Sink Into Me” on the radio, Twenty is a look back at some of the highlights from this unlikely group of musical misfits. Additionally, fans will be able to hear newly recorded songs which hint at the direction that Taking Back Sunday are heading in the coming years. Musical legacy aside, ultimately what’s most impressive is the fact that after two decades and countless successes, Taking Back Sunday have managed to preserve that initial spark that excited them as teenagers.

Richard Pryor And Gil Scott-Heron On Saturday Night Live In 1975
Been on a bit of Gil Scott-Heron blitz this week on Spotify, and found this clip with Gil and Brian Jackson and his band on Saturday Night Live from December 1975 promoting his album From South Africa to South Carolina. Following an introduction by Richard Pryor we see Gil, Brian and the band perform Johannesburg followed by a quick sketch by Richard then back to the band performing A Lovely Day.
Def Leppard, John Prine, Stevie Nicks, The Cure Among Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees
Early Tuesday (Oct. 9) morning, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for induction into the 2019 Rock Hall class. Def Leppard, Devo, Janet Jackson, John Prine, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, the Cure, Todd Rundgren, Rufus & Chaka Kahn and the Zombies are all potentially up for induction at the March 29, 2019, ceremony in Brooklyn, NY, at Barclays Center.
This group of nominees finds us looking at more than a few familiar faces, as nine of the 15 artists have been nominated before. Hip-hop megastar LL Cool J and electronic pioneers Kraftwerk have been nominated four times before each, and influential U.K. rockers the Zombies have seen three previous nominations.
First-timers include hard rock hitmakers Def Leppard, the solo work of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, new wavers Devo, art-rockers Roxy Music, folk hero John Prine and genre-hopping iconoclast Todd Rundgren.
This might be the best video I’ve seen all year: Yoann Bourgeois for the Debussy Centenary
In honour of the Debussy Centenary, Yoann Bourgeois performed a brilliant acrobatic routine to a piano rendition of Clair de lune, played by Alexandre Tharaud.
