To All Your Flat-Earthers, Let An Astronaut Explain This For You, OK?

0

To the average person, there appears to be a growing number of people who believe — somehow — that the world is actually flat and that we are all being “lied” to by world governments. Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield has actually been to space and has seen that the world is round, but is unphased by these so-called “flat-earthers.”

No Doubt performing live at Cal State Fullerton nearly a year before the release of their #1 album Tragic Kingdom, 1994

No Doubt’s self-titled debut album was released in 1992, but it featured no radio singles, although a video was made for “Trapped in a Box”. The album’s distinctly upbeat pop/cartoon sound sharply contrasted with the then-dominant grunge movement. Because the music world’s focus was redirected squarely at Seattle, No Doubt’s album was not supported by the record label and considered a commercial failure for selling only 30,000 copies. This is footage from that time.

2 years later, they released Tragic Kingdom which sold 20 million albums.

Counting Crows Announce 2018 Worldwide “25 Years And Counting” Tour With Special Guests +LIVE+

After more than two decades and 20 million albums sold globally, Counting Crows will celebrate 25 years of making music by hitting the road for a worldwide “25 YEARS AND COUNTING” tour, starting with a 40+ city trek across North America this summer. Presented by Live Nation, the tour will begin June 27 in Boise, ID and travel across cities such as San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta, Tampa, New York, Boston, Toronto and Chicago before concluding September 22 in Nashville, TN. Joining the tour is multi-platinum band +LIVE+.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public in select cities starting Friday, April 6 at 10am local time. Counting Crows and +LIVE+ fan presales will begin tomorrow, April 3 at 10am local time.

“The nice thing about having 25 years of music to celebrate and seven studio albums we absolutely love to choose from is that we can play a different show every night,” said Crows vocalist Adam Duritz. “The nice thing about touring with +LIVE+ is that we get to spend yet another summer with old friends who play great music. We can’t wait!”

+LIVE+ vocalist & guitarist Ed Kowalczyk echoed those sentiments: “+LIVE+ is beyond excited to get out on the road this summer and play for our fans. We are freshly reunited and performing with a confidence and ferocity that we can’t wait for people to experience. The fact that we will be sharing the stage once again with the incomparable Counting Crows is icing on the cake!”

In addition to celebrating 25 years of music in 2018, Duritz has also launched a new podcast, Underwater Sunshine! – a series of conversations between noted non-journalist Duritz and his pal, author and music journalist James Campion, about life, music, and whatever comes into their large and incredibly handsome brains. The weekly podcast, published every Monday, currently holds a five-star rating.

Counting Crows – Adam Duritz (vocals), Jim Bogios (drums), David Bryson (guitar), Charlie Gillingham (keyboards), David Immergluck (guitar), Millard Powers (bass) and Dan Vickrey (guitar) – have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide after exploding onto the music scene with their multiplatinum breakout album August and Everything After in 1993. Known for creating unique and innovative concert experiences year after year, Counting Crows is recognized as one of the world’s most pre-eminent touring live rock bands. The band released their seventh studio album Somewhere Under Wonderland in September 2014, which earned critical acclaim as one of the “band’s best,” scored a top 10 debut and was recognized as one of the group’s “stronger works (USA Today),” claiming a spot on Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Songs of the 2014 list with the track “Dislocation”.

+LIVE+, the multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania–Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion)–have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums (Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi). Their catalog is filled with such gems as “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” “All Over You,” and “Lakini’s Juice,” which live on today as classics at rock radio. Throwing Copper produced the band’s biggest single, “Lightning Crashes,” which was #1 at Modern Rock radio for 10 consecutive weeks. Throwing Copper reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually surpassed sales of 10 million albums sold with Rolling Stone honoring the album with placement on their “1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative’s Greatest Year.” Secret Samadhi (1997) immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went double platinum. The release of the platinum-selling The Distance to Here (1999) turned +LIVE+ into an international powerhouse and moved the band from arenas into stadiums. +LIVE+ has been and remains today a global concert juggernaut.

Tory Lanez Announces “Memories Don’t Die” World Tour

0

Grammy-nominated artist Tory Lanez is set to tour the world this summer, with the North American leg of his Memories Don’t Die Tour kicking off in May with stops in Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and beyond. See full details below, tickets go on sale this Friday, April 6.

Memories Don’t Die, the sophomore album from Lanez, debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 in March with 54,000 units earned.

Memories Don’t Die finds Lanez reflecting on his past—ruminating on the death of his mother and exploring how success has changed his life—as well as looking to the future and promising the world to his newborn son. With features from 50 Cent—an homage to the part of his adolescence spent in Jamaica, Queens—Future, Wiz Khalifa, Fabolous, NAV and more, the album highlights Lanez’s versatility, as quick to croon a chorus as he is to deliver a rap verse.

Memories Don’t Die follows Lanez’s critically acclaimed debut album I Told You, which reached #4 on the Billboard 200 upon its release with the highest first week sales of a debut urban artist in 2016. The album spawned two #1 hits, the Platinum-certified “Say It” and “LUV,” nominated for Best R&B Song at the 59th Grammy Awards.
