Robert Plant Unveils New ‘Digging Deep’ Anthology With 30 Classic Tracks And 3 Previously Unreleased Exclusives

0

Robert Plant will mark the eagerly awaited third season of his hugely popular podcast, Digging Deep with Robert Plant, with the release of a career-spanning new 2-CD set DIGGING DEEP. The limited edition collection – also available for streaming and digital download – gathers 30 extraordinary songs spanning four decades, including three previously unreleased new tracks. DIGGING DEEP will be available worldwide via Plant’s own Es Paranza label on Friday, October 2nd.

DIGGING DEEP showcases landmark tracks from each of the 8x GRAMMY Award-winner’s 11 masterful solo albums, including a number of songs featured on Digging Deep with Robert Plant. Highlights include the #1 rock hit, ā€œHurting Kind,ā€ and the GRAMMYĀ® Award-nominated ā€œShine It All Around,ā€ alongside the previously unreleased exclusives, ā€œNothing Takes the Place of Youā€ (written by New Orleans musician Toussaint McCall and recorded for the acclaimed 2013 film, Winter In The Blood), ā€œCharlie Patton Highway (Turn It Up – Part 1),ā€ taken from the soon to be released album Band of Joy Volume 2 and a spectacular duet rendition of Charley Feathers’ rockabilly classic, ā€œToo Much Alikeā€ featuring Patty Griffin.

Plant is accompanied throughout DIGGING DEEP by a truly remarkable lineup of musicians, including Jimmy Page, Buddy Miller, Patty Griffin, Phil Collins, Nigel Kennedy, Richard Thompson and his brothers, Strange Sensation/ The Sensational Space Shifters.

Digging Deep with Robert Plant began its third season on July 27th. Five brand new episodes will premiere every two weeks, all recorded earlier this year with BBC 6 Music’s Matt Everitt before a live audience at London’s Rough Trade East.

Robert Plant’s music is the result of a lifetime of journeys exploring the music from the welsh borders to the Sahara and from Nashville to the misty mountains. The influences and friends collected along the way can be heard in his songs. Digging Deep with Robert Plant finds him delving into his back catalogue to revisit songs recorded on his incredible history while also telling stories of inspiration, collaboration, and intervention. The podcast has fast proven a popular and critical success, with over 1.6 million streams/downloads. Digging Deep with Robert Plant is available from Apple, Spotify, and YouTube, with new episodes available every two weeks.

5 Ways to Deal With All Academic Assignments and Avoid Burnout

0

Each day is naturally limited, and students feel it better than anyone else. Looming deadlines are always nearby, even if it seems you have plenty of time.Ā

And college or uni years are still the times when you need to be probably the most responsible self ever. Indeed, sometimes academic assignments tend to pile up and cause some kind of academic anxiety in students. The lack of personal interest in a subject or simply time may leave you with no other choice but to ask credible agencies like EssayHub for essay writing help.Ā

The article below covers many other ways of dealing with academic assignments without burnout! There are many points to consider while trying to catch up with virtually everything. Here you will find a handy selection of tips to put an end to burning out process you might be experiencing right now.

Small Goals MatterĀ

Whether you are a first-year student or almost a graduate, remember to set goals for the nearest future. Think about something that could make you happy.Ā

Maybe you are dreaming about a trip to Iceland? Or a new iPhone? Why don’t keep working on academic matters to make this dream come true as a recognition for your hard work?

One more piece of advice. To keep internal motivation, follow one or several bloggers on social media that are closely related to your dream. Check their pages every time you want to get inspired during challenging times.

Consider this checking up as something similar to keeping abreast of recent trends in academic writing. Adding a blog or a few to your bookmarks may boost both your academic stance and overall well-being.

Plan in Advance

To-do lists could be much more useful than the idea of doing all the urgent tasks right here and now. The stress factor isn’t a good partner for productivity.Ā

Remember that making plans is an inherently artistic process – treat it accordingly. Simultaneously, getting to know a few time management techniques can’t hurt anyone.

Never Eat AloneĀ

You must have already heard about the best-selling book with this title. This rule should not apply to business life only; it’s also about relationships and preventing people from burnout. Let’s remember the importance of having someone to lean on (even for a second) during the hard times.Ā

The main point here is to manage your time as effectively as possible – and, again, plan. After all, we all eat, so why not share the meal with others? This will help you distract yourself from all the bothering thoughts related to academics. Friends and inspiring social circle, what else do you need to freshen up?

Spend Money on JourneysĀ

You should follow this particular piece of advice at least to learn how to enjoy not just a destination point, but also the whole traveling process. That doesn’t mean you have to go on road trips every weekend, but leaving the city once in a while might be really beneficial.

It’s always a good idea to go and learn something new about your identity, get some fresh air, and spend time on the road.Ā

Seek HarmonyĀ

To develop the ability to keep up with everything properly, here are three universal needs that you should prioritize:

  • sleep well;Ā
  • eat well;
  • move your body at least 30 minutes a day.Ā

Sleeping influences one’s mood directly and re-energizes your brain. Eating properly will help you maintain the energy level. Finally, exercising reduces the negative impact of everyday stress and may help in calming your mind.Ā

Here is the final tip – meditate daily. Whenever you feel stressed, the practice may help you let go. And this is, in general, a good habit to grow, starting right from when you are on campus.

The Bottom Line

According to the World Health Organization, burning out is a disease that results from chronic stress. It is an occupational phenomenon that is quite common among students globally. There is also good news – it’s possible to go through energy depletion or exhaustion simply following the pieces of advice outlined above.Ā

Even if you can call yourself a consistent and thoughtful person, you’d better make sure you are following the indicated tips. Dream not only big but also small. Try out some planners, to-do lists, and other time-management apps.Ā

Don’t waste your time eating alone and surround yourself with interesting people. Make time to go on a road trip to clear your thoughts and recharge those energy levels and creative flows.

And last but not least, always remember about seeking harmony in your life. Eat and sleep well, and don’t skip exercising. No doubts you’ll be able to avoid burnout following these tips!Ā

John Lennon Gets Remixed From Scratch For New Collection, Gimme Some Truth. The Ultimate Mixes., Out October 9

0

In everything he did,Ā John LennonĀ spoke his truth and questioned the truth. An incomparable and uncompromising artist who strove for honesty and directness in his music, he laid bare his heart, mind and soul in his songs, seeing them as snapshots of his current emotions, thoughts and world view. Believing the one quality demanded of himself as an artist was to be completely honest, he did not disguise what he had to say or conform his messages to be more in line with what he felt others thought they should be. Love, heartbreak, peace, politics, truth, lies, the media, racism, feminism, religion, mental well-being, marriage, fatherhood – he sang about it all, and one just needs to listen to the songs of John Lennon to know how he felt, what he cherished, what he believed in, and what he stood for.

On October 9th, 2020, Lennon’s 80th birthday, in celebration of his remarkable life, a collection of some of the most vital and best loved songs from his solo career will be released as a suite of beautifully presented collections, titledĀ GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH. THE ULTIMATEĀ MIXES.

Executive Produced byĀ Yoko Ono LennonĀ and Produced byĀ Sean Ono Lennon, these thirty-six songs, handpicked by Yoko and Sean, have all been completely remixed from scratch, radically upgrading their sonic quality and presenting them as a never-before-heard Ultimate Listening Experience.

Mixed and engineered by multi GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Paul Hicks,Ā who also helmed the mixes for 2018’s universally acclaimedĀ Imagine – The UltimateĀ CollectionĀ series, with assistance by engineerĀ Sam GannonĀ who also worked on that release, the songs were completely remixed from scratch, using brand new transfers of the original multi-tracks, cleaned up to the highest possible sonic quality. After weeks of painstaking preparation, the final mixes and effects were completed using only vintage analog equipment and effects atĀ Henson Recording StudiosĀ in Los Angeles, and then mastered in analog atĀ Abbey Road StudiosĀ byĀ Alex WhartonĀ in order to ensure the most beautiful and authentic sound quality possible.

GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH. – named for Lennon’s 1971 excoriating rebuke of deceptive politicians, hypocrisy and war, a sentiment as relevant as ever in our post-truth era of fake news, will be available in a variety of formats including as a Deluxe Edition Box Set that offers several different ways to listen to this engrossing 36-track collection with stunning new mixes across two CDs alongside a Blu-ray audio disc containing the Ultimate Mixes in Studio Quality 24 bit/96 kHz HD Stereo, immersive 5.1 Surround Sound and Dolby Atmos.

ā€œJohn was a brilliant man with a great sense of humour and understanding,ā€Ā writesĀ Yoko Ono LennonĀ in the preface of the book included in the Deluxe Edition.Ā ā€œHe believed in being truthful and that the power of the people will change the world. And it will. All of us have the responsibility to visualize a better world for ourselves and our children. The truth is what we create. It’s in our hands.ā€

The 124-page book included in the Deluxe Edition has been designed and edited byĀ Simon Hilton, the Compilation Producer and Production Manager of the Ultimate Collection series. The book tells the story of all thirty-six songs in John & Yoko’s words and the words of those who worked alongside them, through archival and brand-new interviews, accompanied by hundreds of previously unseen photographs, Polaroids, movie still frames, letters, lyric sheets, tape boxes, artworks and memorabilia from the Lennon-Ono archives.

GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH.Ā will also be released as a 19-track CD or 2LP, a 36-track 2CD or 4 LP, and several digital versions for download and streaming including in 24 bit/96 kHz audio and hi-res Dolby Atmos. The vinyl was cut by mastering engineerĀ Alex WhartonĀ atĀ Abbey Road Studios. The Deluxe Edition and 4LP formats will include aĀ GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH.Ā bumper sticker, a two-sided poster of Lennon printed in black and white with silver and gold metallics, and two postcards, one of which is a replica of Lennon’s letter to the Queen of England in 1969 when he returned his MBE in ā€œprotest against Britain’s involvement in the Nigerian-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam and Cold Turkey slipping down the charts.ā€ The 2LP and 2CD will also include the poster and all versions will come with a booklet filled with photos and the MBE letter.

The album cover features a rarely seen striking black and white profile portrait of John Lennon, taken on the day John returned his MBE. The album cover, CD and LP booklets and typographic artworks were designed byĀ Jonathan BarnbrookĀ who created the covers for David Bowie’s albumsĀ Heathen,Ā RealityĀ andĀ The Next DayĀ and won a GRAMMYĀ® Award for the packaging of Bowie’sĀ Black StarĀ album.

GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH.Ā traces the arc of Lennon’s post-Beatles life and career, bringing together songs from all of his revered solo albums includingĀ John Lennon/Plastic Ono BandĀ (1970),Ā ImagineĀ (1971),Ā Some Time In New York CityĀ (1972),Ā Mind GamesĀ (1973),Ā Walls and BridgesĀ (1974),Ā Rock ā€˜n’ RollĀ (1975),Ā Double FantasyĀ (1980) and 1984’s posthumousĀ Milk and Honey. The collection is bookended with his early non-album singles, kicking off with the one-two punch of ā€œInstant Karma! (We All Shine On),ā€ Lennon’s exuberant exhortation about the karmic forces of action/reaction and equality (ā€œwe all shine on like the moon and the stars and the sunā€), and the electrifying addiction-themed ā€œCold Turkey,ā€ and culminating with the holiday classic ā€œHappy Xmas (War Is Over)ā€ and the anti-war protest anthem ā€œGive Peace A Chance,ā€ with its ubiquitous, titular call to action: ā€œAll we are saying is Give Peace A Chance.ā€

Sequenced in chronological order by album they were released on, songs on the 36-track version include all of Lennon’s biggest hits and showcase his thoughts, beliefs and convictions about everything from peace (ā€œImagine,ā€ ā€œGive Peace A Chance,ā€ ā€œHappy Xmas (War Is Over)ā€), religion (ā€œGodā€), politics (ā€œPower To The People,ā€ ā€œWorking Class Heroā€), lying politicians (ā€œGimme Some Truthā€), racism (ā€œAngelaā€), equality (ā€œWomanā€), love and marriage (ā€œLove,ā€ ā€œOh Yoko!,ā€ ā€œDear Yoko,ā€ ā€œMind Games,ā€ ā€œOut The Blue,ā€ ā€œEvery Man Has A Woman Who Loves Him,ā€ ā€œGrow Old With Meā€), fatherhood (ā€œBeautiful Boy (Darling Boy)ā€), loneliness (ā€œIsolationā€) and much more. Some of the many other highlights include the sonically sumptuous ā€œJealous Guyā€ and ā€œ#9 Dream,ā€ the acerbic ā€œHow Do You Sleep?,ā€ the breezy, carefree ā€œWatching The Wheels,ā€ a rollicking live recording of ā€œCome Togetherā€ that he had originally recorded with The Beatles, the rapturous Elton John collaboration ā€œWhatever Gets You Thru The Night,ā€ and the jubilant, bittersweet ā€œI’m Stepping Out.ā€

Like all Lennon projects, intense thought and care went into the making ofĀ GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH.Ā and the remixing of these treasured songs. As Paul Hicks details in the Deluxe Edition book: ā€œYoko is very keen that in making The Ultimate Mixes series we achieve three things: remain faithful and respectful to the originals, ensure that the sound is generally sonically clearer overall, and increase the clarity of John’s vocals. ā€˜It’s about John,’ she says. And she is right. His voice brings the biggest emotional impact to the songs.ā€ Hicks continues, ā€œThe combination of remixing from all the original first-generation multitrack sources and finishing in analogue has brought a whole new level of magic, warmth and clarity to the sound, along with a more detailed dynamic range and sound stage, and we really hope you enjoy the results.ā€

The results speak for themselves and allow Lennon’s voice and words to shine on, clearer and brighter, at a time when they are needed now, more than ever. When listened to in sequence,Ā GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH.Ā THE ULTIMATEĀ MIXES.Ā plays both like one of the greatest-ever live Lennon concerts and an emotional telling of his life story, from just after the breakup of The Beatles, to falling in love and marrying Yoko, his peace activism, personal soul-searching, inspiration, celebration, confusion, reunion, fatherhood, his five-year break from music while raising Sean, and his triumphant return into the ā€˜80s with two new albums.

Throughout these incredible, timeless songs we experience the many facets of John Lennon: the songwriter, the revolutionary, the musician, the husband, the truth-teller, the dad, the provocateur, the peace activist, the artist, the icon.

JOHNĀ LENNON.Ā GIMME SOMEĀ TRUTH.Ā THE ULTIMATEĀ MIXES.

The Struts Premiere New Single ā€œAnother Hit Of Showmanshipā€ With Albert Hammond Jr Of The Strokes

0

Today, globally adored rock band The Struts share a powerhouse new single called ā€œAnother Hit of Showmanship,ā€ with Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes on guitar. The UK-bred four-piece’s first new music in over a year, ā€œAnother Hit of Showmanshipā€ is available now at all digital retailers.

Sparked from a Britpop-leaning riff dreamed up by Struts guitarist Adam Slack, ā€œAnother Hit of Showmanshipā€ features a particularly poignant vocal performance from singer Luke Spiller, who perfectly captures the tension between giving in to temptation and rising above. After laying down the initial version of the track, Spiller reached out to Hammond, who’d previously invited the band to open for him on a series of solo shows in 2018.

ā€œā€˜Another Hit of Showmanship’ reminds me of being at a club night called Ramshackle years ago at the O2 Academy in Bristol, where they’d play bands like The Libertines and Razorlight and Scissor Sisters, and of course The Strokes,ā€ says Spiller. ā€œI hit up Albert out of the blue and told him, ā€˜We’ve got this song, and I’m so excited to see what you would do with it.’ As soon as he got his hands on it, he took it to a whole different level — it really just shows why he’s so brilliant at what he does.ā€

Graced with Hammond’s melodic but blistering guitar work, ā€œAnother Hit of Showmanshipā€ finds The Struts working again with Jon Levine, who co-produced their 2018 sophomore effort YOUNG & DANGEROUS (including the album’s chart-climbing lead single ā€œBody Talksā€).

Formed in Derby, England, in 2012, The Struts have found themselves massively embraced by some of the greatest icons in rock-and-roll history. Along with opening for Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Guns N’ Roses, the UK-bred four-piece band was handpicked by Mƶtley Crüe to serve as the supporting act for their last-ever performances. The Struts released their sophomore album YOUNG & DANGEROUS in 2018 and have toured incessantly since their formation, including worldwide headline shows and major festivals like Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Isle of Wight, and many more.

Public Enemy Re-Signs To Def Jam Recordings & Releases ā€œFight The Power: Remix 2020ā€

0

fter over two decades, Public Enemy – the iconic group whose message of revolution, social justice, and racial equality is more potent and necessary today than ever – finally reunites with the historic label it helped build into a globally recognized brand: Def Jam Recordings.

Public Enemy and Def Jam have reunited to officially release ā€œFight the Power (Remix 2020),ā€ the explosive remix that opened the 2020 BET Awards in June featuring Nas, Rapsody, Black Thought, YG, Jahi and Questlove. ā€œFight the Power (2020 Remix),ā€ is the first offering from the group’s forthcoming new studio album What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down, set for release via Def Jam on September 25th.

ā€œFight the Power (Remix 2020)ā€ was recorded in June with the addition of new lyrics that reflect the global protests over the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and far too many more. The video features performances by the artists, filmed separately due to social distancing, and intercut with powerful protest footage.

“Cultural Institutions are important. Being an integral part of one is an honor bestowed and to uphold,ā€ says Chuck D. ā€œPublic Enemy songs are forever sonic prints in the sands of time. And it’s time – it’s necessary – to bring the noise again from a place called home. Def Jam. Fight The Power 2020.ā€ Flavor Flav adds, ā€œDef Jam is like the house we grew up in. It’s cool to be home.ā€

ā€œLike so many of us, I have long been a Public Enemy fan, and the group was incredibly formative for me and the path I would take,ā€ said Def Jam Chairman & CEO, UMG General Counsel Jeff Harleston. ā€œPE has consistently been a living example of how music can profoundly move and unite people, and affect real change in the national conversation. As we continue to confront inequality and injustice, we need PE’s voice in the national dialogue. Def Jam is proud to partner with Chuck and welcome Public Enemy home.ā€

ā€œFor true fans of hip-hop all over the world, this is a historic moment,ā€ said Def Jam GM & EVP Rich Isaacson. ā€œBringing Public Enemy home to Def Jam – in a time when their message is more necessary than ever – is a profound statement and a much-needed reunion. We are beyond excited to once again lock arms with the legendary Public Enemy.ā€

Earlier this summer, Public Enemy released ā€œState of the Union (STFU),ā€ produced by DJ Premier. Their fiery return to the frontlines takes on Donald Trump and his fascist regime. An unflinching statement about the destruction the current administration has unleashed on the country and its people, ā€œState of the Union (STFU)ā€ speaks truth to power while urging people to fight against racism, injustice and oppression with their vote.

Def Jam. Fight The Power 2020.ā€ – Chuck D

PostĀ MaloneĀ is now an esports team owner – technically, of multiple teams. Envy Gaming, one of the most valuable esports organizations in the world and the largest esports company inĀ Texas, announced that multi-platinum, award-winning artist Post Malone has joined the organization’s ownership group, taking an undisclosed equity stake. The 25-year-old global superstar is an avid video game fan who grew up inĀ North Texas, whereĀ Envy GamingĀ and its esports teams – the Dallas Fuel, the Dallas Empire and Team Envy – are based.

“I grew up inĀ TexasĀ and I’veĀ been gamingĀ my whole life, so this just really felt right,” said Post Malone. “I have always wanted to be a part of bringing gaming into the professional sports world so to be involved with what Envy is doing in my hometown feels like such a perfect fit.”

Envy and Post Malone revealed the partnership on social media ahead of theĀ CallĀ of Duty League Championship Weekend, in which the Envy-owned Dallas Empire team is competing. The Dallas Empire play onĀ Saturday, August 29Ā atĀ 2:30 p.m. CT.

Young@Heart Chorus Announces October 2nd Release Date for Highly Anticipated New Album, Miss You

0

Young@Heart, the stereotype-defying, generation-crossing rock group composed of two dozen spirited senior citizens ranging in age from 77-92, will be releasing a brand-new single thisĀ Friday, August 28th.

TheĀ Massachusetts-based rock group, subject of the smash Fox Searchlight documentaryĀ Young@Heart, will release “A Change Is Gonna Come,” a cover of theĀ Sam CookeĀ classic, featuring Chicago Children’s Choir. The song is one of seventeen unforgettable tracks featured on the group’s upcoming albumĀ Miss You, which will be released onĀ October 2, 2020.

Pre-Save Miss YouĀ HERE

With their first album since 2012,Ā Young@HeartĀ puts its unique stamp on songs from legendary artists such as Bob Dylan,Ā Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, NWA, and Pearl Jam. OnĀ October 3, fans worldwide can joinĀ Young@HeartĀ for a virtual album release event and benefit concert that will feature performances, music video debuts, celebrity guest appearances, and more!

As an ensemble of senior citizens performing classic and contemporary hits,Ā Young@HeartĀ has been celebrated worldwide as a truly inspirational force, especially during these challenging times. Their energy and charisma show fans that it’s possible to grow old without growing boring. Unwilling to be shut away in nursing homes,Ā Young@HeartĀ had been touring the world since 1982, performing sold out concerts, and singing unexpected interpretations of popular music from The Clash,Ā Jimi Hendrix, Sonic Youth, and Coldplay.

Unfortunately, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has affectedĀ Young@Heart’s ability to tour, perform or rehearse together in person. With an average age of 85, its members are among the most at risk from COVID-19, and therefore this will be one of the last groups to perform in public due to the high risk of infection. Motown Celebrates The Legacy Of Martin Luther King Jr. And The Great March On Washington For Jobs And Freedom

0

OnĀ August 28, 1963, more than 250,000 demonstrators took to the streets ofĀ Washington, DCĀ to draw attention to inequalities faced by Black Americans. As the nation reeled from violent acts perpetrated on civil rights activists inĀ Birmingham, Ala., civil rights leadersĀ A.Ā Philip Randolph,Ā Bayard RustinĀ andĀ Martin Luther King Jr.Ā chose to fuse their marches — Randolph’s and Rustin’s for jobs, King’s for freedom — into a massive, singular protest. Thus,Ā The March On Washington For Jobs And Freedom, one of the most momentous civil rights gatherings in American history, was launched, culminating in Dr. King’s classic speech which he unforgettably (and extemporaneously) delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial: “I Have A Dream.” Available for the first time as a stand-alone single on global streaming platforms, listen to “I Have A Dream”Ā HERE. Listen to the full album,Ā The Great March On Washington,Ā HERE.

Motown Records recorded the key speeches and then, adding singerĀ Liz Lands’Ā studio performance of “We Shall Overcome,” swiftly released a full album that fall. The company’s striking, close mic’d sound was a more accurate capture of the event than any news report of the day. AsĀ TIMEĀ proclaimed,Ā Martin Luther King Jr.Ā and Motown saved the sound of the civil rights movement.”Ā UMe’s work to preserve and archive the audio from that historic day assures that generations of people from every walk of life around the world have been inspired to work for freedom and justice forcefully and peacefully.

In honor of the anniversary ofĀ The Great March On Washington,Ā and its enduring legacy as one of the world’s greatest examples of peaceful mass protest to champion fundamental freedoms for those who routinely experience cruelty and injustice at the hands of wrongful institutions and individuals, Motown and UMe have developed new digital initiatives. These efforts make newly accessible the sounds of a day that is vital to ensuring that America fulfills its promise and that the uplifting messages delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial nearly 60 years ago can inspire those taking to the streets today for the purpose of nonviolent action as they become part of the proud legacy of the original march.

One of the core components of this year’s campaign will be recreating the energy of that great day through carefully sequenced playlists and digital activations, including interactive timelines, shareable social cards and ongoing support for the work that the late CongressmanĀ John Lewis, then a student activist and the youngest speaker at the march, spent a lifetime pursuing.

Earlier this year and coinciding with the first-everĀ digital releaseĀ ofĀ The Great March On WashingtonĀ album on Motown,Ā TIMEĀ and executive producerĀ Viola DavisĀ invited the public to step back into history withĀ THE MARCH – a groundbreaking, immersive Virtual Reality museum exhibit that recreated The March On Washington and allowed visitors to witness firsthand the “I Have A Dream” speech, utilizing original audio from Motown.Ā TIMEĀ said, “King’s clarion voice carries without the distracting echo picked up by inferior attempts to capture it. Spectators on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial chime in audibly as King proceeds…making listeners feel as if they’re 10 ft. from the podium.”

Now,Ā MotownĀ andĀ UMeĀ are proud to celebrate of the 57th anniversary of The Great March On Washington, with the following:

  1. Long-unseen footage ofĀ Coretta Scott King.Ā Long-unseen footage of Dr. King’s widow, civil-rights activistĀ Coretta Scott King, during an appearance onĀ The Ed Sullivan Show, during which she movingly introduces excerpts from her late husband’s oratory — footage that is now officially availableĀ hereĀ through digital platforms worldwide for the first time since its original airing in 1970.

  2. Exclusive “March On Washington” Playlist.Ā March On WashingtonĀ playlist will feature tracks by seminal Black creators likeĀ Marvin Gaye,Ā Stevie WonderĀ andĀ Kendrick Lamar.

  3. Additionally, UMG unveiledĀ USE YOUR VOICE, a digital campaign across UMG’s U.S. ecosystem to increase voter participation and civic engagement created with the Task Force for Meaningful Change (TFMC). The campaign launched onĀ August 20th, marking 75 days before the 2020 presidential election and is designed to equip UMG employees, artists, partners and fans with the information, resources and digital tools needed to help get out the vote.

USE YOUR VOICE kicked off with the #HourOfAction initiative when U.S. employees were asked to pause from their workday and take an hour to concentrate on the election and take action. The #HourOfAction included a virtual canvassing event powered by over 150 employees that reached over 200,000 eligible voters across the country.

The hashtag, #UseYourVoice, will capture and amplify conversations around voting and activism of all kinds throughĀ November 3rd. With so many now exercising their constitutional rights, this hashtag opens up the possibility to discover shared visions or new opportunities to support, discover and embrace history as it unfolds in plain view.

“The tradition for preservation and distribution continues as Motown and UMe create ways for digital generations to enhance their journey,” commentedĀ Katina Bynum, EVP, East Coast Labels, Urban, UMe.

Bynum continued, “The Ed Sullivan ShowĀ clip ofĀ Coretta Scott KingĀ provides an early glimpse of the power of a woman’s voice. The #USEYOURVOICE hashtag encourages inclusion and action. TheĀ March On WashingtonĀ playlist links the past and the present, just as today’s demonstrators carry on the work of yesteryear’s civil rights leaders and activists.”

Today, Dr. King’s plea for racial tolerance and unity — as well as similarly captivating speeches by a number of other civil-rights luminaries — ring ever truer in light of the killings ofĀ George Floyd,Ā Breonna Taylor,Ā Elijah McClainĀ and other Black Americans. These orations have continued to inspire generations ever since, underscored by the plannedĀ March On Washington 2020Ā that will be held on the 57th anniversary of the original march.
