Bud Light And Lady Gaga Kick-Off Summer 2017 With The Return Of The Bud Light Dive Bar Tour

0

Bud Light announced today that it is bringing back its extremely popular Bud Light Dive Bar Tour for summer 2017. The tour will consist of three shows with three different artists, kicking off July 13 with Lady Gaga, and will finish with two new surprise friends joining in to headline the two additional stops. Not only will fans be able to experience their favorite artists in the most intimate of venues, but all three shows will stream live on Bud Light’s Facebook page.

In 2016, Bud Light helped launch Lady Gaga’s newest album ‘Joanne’ with the Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour. The brand took the global superstar back to her roots in three dive bars in New York, Nashville and Los Angeles – resulting in one of the most successful campaigns of 2016.

“How could I not want to go back to bars and sing music from ‘Joanne’?,” said Lady Gaga. “I’m excited to reteam with Bud Light for the Dive Bar Tour this summer.”

Bud Light launched its “Famous Among Friends” campaign in January 2017 celebrating the value of building friendships over Bud Lights. The brand is creating experiences that will strengthen and build friendships all over the country this summer – including the Bud Light Dive Bar Tour. The brand will also be rolling out several programs to help bring consumers to the show and build excitement for the tour throughout the summer on their digital and social channels.

“To us, dive bars are where friendships are forged over beers and music. That’s why bringing back the Bud Light Dive Bar Tour made so much sense for our brand,” said Andy Goeler, vice president, Bud Light. “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with our friend Lady Gaga once again and we’re excited to bring two new musician friends on the tour with us this summer to take the tour to the next level and engage consumers everywhere.”

The Bud Light Dive Bar Tour will kick-off on Thursday, July 13, 2017 with Lady Gaga performing to an intimate crowd in Las Vegas. The two surprise headliners will be announced later this summer, along with more details on the dive bar locations and times of the performances. The Dive Bar Tour will also travel to the following cities this year:

British Folk Rock Pioneers Fairport Convention’s 50th Anniversary Celebrated With Lavish 7CD Box Set

0

Seminal British folk rock band Fairport Convention’s 50th anniversary will be celebrated on July 28 with two exciting releases via A&M/UMe – a lavish 7CD box set chronicling their extraordinary first decade entitled, Come All Ye – The First Ten Years, and a 180-gram vinyl reissue of their influential classic album, Liege & Lief.

Compiled by Andrew Batt, the curator behind the musical stage show, “The Lady – A Tribute To Sandy Denny,” which toured the UK in 2012, Come All Ye – The First Ten Years, celebrates Fairport Convention’s influential first decade as a band, beginning with their eponymous debut for Polydor in 1968, through all of their seminal albums for Island Records and finishing with tracks from their two albums for Vertigo, The Bonny Bunch of Roses and Tipplers Tales.

The extensive collection features 121 tracks, including more than 50 unreleased and hard to find tracks spanning the most momentous period of the band’s half-century history. In addition to key songs from all of their classic albums, the seven CDs are rife with single B-sides, demos, outtakes, BBC Radio Sessions, live recordings from many of their television appearances and their rare contribution to the BBC documentary, “The Man They Couldn’t Hang” (1971). The box is rounded out with two superb live albums, an unreleased concert recorded at London’s Fairfield Halls in 1973 and the band’s American debut at The Troubadour in Los Angeles in 1974. The set comes complete with liner notes by respected English writer, Patrick Humphries, author of many highly-regarded books including, “Nick Drake – The Biography” (Bloomsbury 1998), “Richard Thompson – The Biography” (Music Sales Ltd 1997) and “The Many Lives of Tom Waites” (Omnibus Press 1989).

Fairport Convention’s breakout record, Liege & Lief, is widely considered to be the definitive electric, British folk album and arguably the first ever. Remarkably, it was the third LP the band released in 1969, all produced by Joe Boyd. Six of the eight songs are radically modernized versions of traditional folk tunes. Recorded less than six months after the motorway crash which killed the group’s original drummer Martin Lamble, Liege & Lief was the only album recorded by the short-lived Fairport Convention line-up of Sandy Denny – Vocals, Richard Thompson – Guitar, Simon Nicol – Guitar, Ashley Hutchings – Bass, Dave Mattacks –Drums and Dave Swarbrick – Violin and Viola. By the time Liege & Lief was released in December 1969 both Denny and Hutchings had left the group. The album is celebrated for its outstanding musicianship, unique and inspiring arrangements and Denny’s peerless and revelatory singing. The impact and influence of Liege & Lief still resonates to this day.

ormed in London in 1967, Fairport Convention are the hardy perennials of the British Folk scene and are credited with inventing the genre known as folk rock. Over the years they have enjoyed a shifting line-up, which has helped to launch the successful solo careers of founder members Richard Thompson, Judy Dyble, Ashely Hutchings and Simon Nicol and subsequently the careers of Sandy Denny, Dave Swarbrick and Dave Pegg.

The group continues to perform and record, much to the delight of their devoted fans. Since 1979 the band has been hosting its very own yearly festival, Cropredy, held on the end of the village of Cropredy. Fairport’s Cropredy Convention 2017, taking place August 10-12, promises to be very special as it marks the band’s golden anniversary. As is traditional, Fairport Convention will play on Thursday with a short welcoming set by the band’s semi-acoustic lineup to open the festival and they will close out the sold-out festivities on Saturday with a marathon performance celebrating their 50 years. The much-anticipated set will feature all current members – consisting of founding member Simon Nicol (lead vocal, guitars), along with Dave Pegg (backing vocals, bass guitar), Ric Sanders (violin), Chris Leslie (lead vocal, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin) and Gerry Conway (percussion and drums) – joined by most living former members and a variety of guests to commemorate half a century of musicmaking.

0

Singer-songwriter, legendary vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, mandolin player, producer, Grammy winner and BMI Icon Steve Winwood will release ‘Winwood: Greatest Hits Live,’ his first-ever live album as a solo artist on Friday, September 1 via Wincraft Records with distribution through Thirty Tigers. It will be available as a 2CD/4LP collection; the vinyl set includes one digital download card.

The material on ‘Winwood: Greatest Hits Live’ is a collection of songs sourced from Winwood’s personal archives of live performances. With a 23-song tracklist handpicked by Winwood, featuring his best loved songs, ‘Greatest Hits Live’ offers fans a definitive musical portrait of his five-decade career.

“I’m excited about the release because I have recorded every show for many years and so it evoked many memories of the performances and reactions from the fans over the years who have supported me,” says Winwood. “I suppose it is sort of a tribute to the band members and crew I’ve been fortunate to have with me on the road. The songs were chosen for being the ones most recognized throughout my career which have left an impression and so I hope the record will be a souvenir that brings to mind happy memories of a good time experienced at one of my shows.”

The expanded 2CD/4LP gatefold package features rare, previously unreleased material touching on all aspects of Winwood’s extensive catalog, including contemporary arrangements of the music he created with the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and on his classic solo recordings. The collection channels R&B, Jazz, Funk, Folk, Classic Rock, Pop, and Afro-Caribbean & Brazilian rhythms, highlighting Winwood’s unique ability to fuse multiple genres into a singular, cohesive musical expression. The record not only demonstrates Steve’s mastery of the Hammond B3 Organ, but also showcases his remarkable guitar skills.

atured songs include “Gimme Some Lovin'”, “Back In The High Life Again”, “Can’t Find My Way Home”, “Arc Of A Diver”, “Higher Love”, “Roll With It”, “While You See A Chance”, “Dear Mr. Fantasy”, and “The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys”, among many others.

For more than five decades and over 50 million records sold since he burst into prominence at the age of 15 with the Spencer Davis Group, Steve Winwood has remained a primary figure in Rock ‘n’ Roll, a respected innovator who has helped to create some of the genre’s most celebrated achievements. His skills as a composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist have developed an impressive catalog of popular music.

Winwood, named one of the ‘Greatest Singers Of All Time’ by Rolling Stone Magazine, is a recipient of the Ivor Novello Outstanding Song Collection, the BMI Icon Award, the Musicians Union Classic Rock Award, the Nashville Symphony Harmony Award and has been nominated for 11 Grammys, winning two. Steve has received Honorary Doctorate degrees in Music from Berklee College of Music, Aston University in Birmingham, England; and from The University of Gloucestershire. In 2004, Traffic was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the following year, he was honored for his “enduring influence on generations of music makers” by BMI. In 2002, he had the distinct honor of performing at The Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II

at Buckingham Palace, a concert marking her 50 years as queen; he also performed for President Obama at the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. On June 5th 2014, he was inducted into the Walk of Fame in Nashville, TN.

Interpol releasing 10th anniversary edition of their landmark album ‘Our Love to Admire’ on colored-vinyl LP, CD and bonus DVD

0

In the late 90s, Interpol emerged as one of the American indie-rock scene’s most exciting and inventive new bands. The New York outfit’s artfully layered sound drew comparisons to a multitude of notable post-punk combos, but Interpol’s cutting-edge sound was wholly its own. That’s the case with 2007’s Our Love to Admire, the band’s third album as well as its first major-label release and one of the group’s biggest selling albums.

With the full participation of the band members, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Our Love to Admire, UMe will release three special expanded-edition reissues of this beloved classic: a two-LP vinyl set, a double LP with bonus DVD, and a CD/DVD set on August 18, 2017. The LP and CD will debut a sparkling new edition of the original album, remastered for this release by Gavin Lurssen with all of its original packaging intact. Additionally, the LP editions will be available in a limited colored vinyl version exclusively through The Sound Of Vinyl, as well as standard black vinyl.

The bonus DVD captures the band’s 12-song performance at the London Astoria on July 2, 2007, marking the first time that these performances will be available in the U.S. The DVD includes live versions of several songs from Our Love to Admire, along with such earlier Interpol favorites as “Narc,” “Obstacle 1,” “Public Pervert,” “Evil” and “NYC.”

Interpol formed in the late 1990s and quickly established a dense, intoxicating sound featuring layers of guitar, bass and synthesizers. The band came up through the vibrant New York scene, alongside such notable contemporaries as the Strokes and the National, but gained crucial early attention in Britain, where they recorded a prestigious live session for legendary BBC DJ John Peel.

Our Love to Admire marked a critical and commercial breakthrough for the band. Recorded at New York’s Electric Lady and the Magic Shop studios with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Death Cab for Cutie), the album boasts an expansive, cinematic sound that drove home such notable songs as “The Heinrich Maneuver,” “Pioneer to the Falls,” “No I In Threesome,” “Mammoth” and “Rest My Chemistry.”

Upon its release, Our Love to Admire debuted in the Top Five in both the U.S. and the U.K. Uncut described the album as “a majestic, grandiose, machine-tooled album, subtly orchestrated with gothic pianos and doomy organs.” Billboard noted that the band “retains its flair for dramatic images and ominous guitar lines… with producer/mixer Rich Costey onboard, these signatures uncoil into more complex soundscapes.”

In the years since its original release, Our Love to Admire has remained a cornerstone of Interpol’s body of work, and continues to stand as one of the key albums of the musical era in which it was created. Now, with these distinctive 10th anniversary editions, this modern classic shines more brightly than ever.

This year Interpol will also celebrate the 15th Anniversary of their debut album Turn On The Bright Lights by playing the record in its entirety.

A Fan Smuggled In A Colour Video Camera Into “I Love Lucy” Set In 1951. Here Are The Results.

0

This short 8mm Color film Footage was filmed by an audience member of “I Love Lucy”, on the evening of October 12, 1951, at Sound Stage #2 of Desilu Studios, Hollywood, California.

The episode that night was 6th show of the first season, “The Audition”.(It was a remake of “I Love Lucy” pilot episode, which was presumed lost until 1990.)

Although there were many people who tried to capture the scene of filming, Jess Oppenheimer, the producer and writer of “I Love Lucy”, prohibited it, because of the possibilities of leaking. Because of this, this footage is the only surviving material of “Behind-the-Scenes” of this legendary sitcom. It is said that Desi Arnaz filmed some filming scenes using his own 8mm movie camera, but it is not proven.

Of all four main stars, Vivian Vance is not appearing in this footage. Jess Oppenheimer, and the famous cameraman, Karl Freund, are seen briefly.
