Weird Al Interrupts Bruce Springsteen As George Michael Pops Out Of Nowhere
The premise of Al TV is that Weird Al Yankovic uses his private satellite transmitter to commandeer the airwaves of a music video station in order to show the videos that he wants to watch. Primarily a parody of MTV itself, it featured commercials for imaginary products, fake interviews with celebrities, comments on the latest music news, letters from fans, and bizarre non sequiturs. For fake interviews, the show edits footage from unrelated outside interviews and manipulates it such that Al appears to be interviewing the celebrity in a silly or mocking way.

R.E.M. fans should take a look at this video video which I’d never seen before. The visuals are stunning, the sound is great, this is a riveting, time-stopping brilliant performance.

Musician Performs ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ With a Single Note
Bohemian Rhapsody is the song that just keeps on giving, isn’t it? In this new video, musician Rob Scallon employed only a single note and 13 seconds of footage to create a cover of the six-minute, epic Queen song through clever editing.
Each note is just speeding up or slowing down that original note to get different pitches, hence why the high notes are so short. The drums had some EQ to them, everything got reverb, bit of mastering.
‘This Is Us (Music from the Series)’ Available September 15
This Is Us (Music from the Series), a companion to the show America loves, is available September 15. This Is Us: The Complete First Season will be available on DVD three days earlier so fans can relive all the moments along with the music from the hit show. With instantly recognizable hits and classics, an original song and a compelling score, the soundtrack features 20 songs curated by “This Is Us” Creator/Executive Producer Dan Fogelman and his team, music supervisor Jennifer Pyken and composer/musician Siddhartha Khosla. Each musical element is carefully woven throughout the series, with the songs clearly defining a moment or serving as a gentle guide through the complex emotional journey.
Nominated for 10 Emmy Awards including Outstanding Drama Series, “This Is Us” chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s and 1990s to their now adult kids Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love, fulfillment and healing in the present day. This grounded, life-affirming dramedy reveals how the events in our lives – both big and small – impact who we become, and how the connections we share with each other can transcend time, distance and even death. Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones also star. “This Is Us” Season 2 premieres Tuesday, September 26 at 9pm on NBC.
The soundtrack opens with “Death With Dignity” by Sufjan Stevens, instantly recognizable as a tone-setting music cue from the series’ debut episode, and concludes with “This Is Us Score Suite” by Khosla. Also featured is a rare cover version of Peter Gabriel’s “Come Talk To Me” by Khosla’s critically acclaimed band Goldspot, which has been praised by Gabriel himself, and “We Can Always Come Back To This,” the original song composed by Khosla and Chris Pierce, performed by Brian Tyree Henry in Season 1’s pivotal “Memphis” episode. The soulful, Stax-inspired song connected with the show’s audience, topping Billboard’s Blues Singles chart at No. 1 for four consecutive weeks and reaching No. 12 on iTunes’ Top 100 Songs chart.
In continuing with the personal theme of familial relationships of the show, Goldspot’s “Evergreen Cassette (Tape Mix)” draws on Khosla’s early childhood experience of living in India with his grandparents while his parents were in the U.S., working and attending graduate school. His only form of communication with his parents was being sent an evergreen-colored cassette tape by his mother, who would speak to him, sing songs and tell him stories. “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman was an early fan and supporter of Goldspot.
This Is Us: The Complete First Season DVD includes all 18 episodes as well as the companion series, “The Aftershow,” that explores the emotional dramatic performances with the cast and creators. Each DVD comes with a free 8×8 Shutterfly Photo Book ($29.99 Value) Offer. Turn your favorite memories into a “This Is Us” photo book everyone can cherish.
From the writer and directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love, the team of Dan Fogelman, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra come together again for “This Is Us.”

Gibson Announces Slash as First Ever Global Brand Ambassador
Gibson Brands, the world’s leading music lifestyle company, announces it has appointed guitar superstar Slash as Global Brand Ambassador, the first such designation in the company’s history. As part of the new role with Gibson, Slash is developing new products with three of its celebrated guitar brands, Gibson Custom, Gibson and Epiphone. Details of new products and exclusive content will be announced beginning later this month. Throughout his career, Slash has embodied Gibson’s values of quality, prestige and innovation and has brought the indelible sound and style of Gibson guitars to new heights of popularity and recognition over the last 30 years.
“It’s an honor to be Gibson’s first Global Brand Ambassador,” said Slash. “I’ve been working with Gibson since the early days of my professional career and playing Gibson guitars since before that. I’m proud of the creative relationship we’ve developed over the years.”
SLASH has amassed album sales of over 100 million copies, garnered a GRAMMY Award and seven GRAMMY nominations and was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Time magazine named SLASH #2, behind Jimi Hendrix, on its “The Ten Best Electric Guitar Players of All-Time” list. SLASH helped create signature sounds like the guitar riff on #1 hits for Guns N Roses “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Welcome to the Jungle.” After leaving the band, SLASH went on to critical acclaim with SLASH’s Snakepit and global success with the supergroup Velvet Revolver. SLASH’s self-titled biography, critically well-received, climbed the bestseller list in both the U.S. and U.K. hitting #8 on the NY Times Bestsellers List. SLASH landed on the top of the charts with his first solo album, Slash (2010) which featured Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and more. SLASH and his band, featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, released the critically acclaimed Apocalyptic Love (2012) which stormed the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4 as the top rock debut and produced his first-ever #1 rock radio solo hits: “You’re A Lie” and “Standing In The Sun.” SLASH released Nothing Left To Fear (2013) the first-ever motion picture he co-produced from Slasher Films, his film/TV production company. SLASH feat. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators released the album WORLD ON FIRE in 2014. “Live At The Roxy,” a live DVD/CD from Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, was released in 2015.
Slash joined Guns N’ Roses in 1985 in Los Angeles and quickly rose to international fame by the summer of 1987 with the release of the band’s debut LP “Appetite for Destruction,” which has sold over 30 million albums and became one of the best-selling rock albums of all time. Slash’s signature sound and epic solos were recorded with several of his favorite Gibson guitars, which introduced an entirely new generation to the power and passion of music delivered through those instruments. Over the past three decades, Slash has collaborated closely with Gibson and the company’s CEO, Henry Juszkiewicz on several projects including product development, marketing, live events and supporting charitable initiatives with the Gibson Foundation.
Slash is currently on the Guns N’ Roses “Not in This Lifetime” world tour extending through November, 2017. Details around the new products and exclusive content born from this relationship will follow throughout the year.
Get Ready For A LOT Of Wu-Tang Clan Merch
Robert Diggs (pka Rza) and Oliver Grant (pka Power), two of the original founders of the Wu-Tang Clan, announced today that they are partnering with Live Nation’s Merchandise division to relaunch the hip-hop group’s legendary Wu Wear clothing brand.
Originally launched in 1995, Wu Wear was the first artist-inspired hip hop clothing line and a pioneer in street fashion. Despite the discontinuation of the Wu Wear line at major retailers in 2008, the brand has maintained its popularity around the world, leading to a large market of counterfeit Wu Wear.
The revitalized line will include re-releases of classic designs as well as items that represent an updated aesthetic that still stays true to Wu Wear’s roots. In order to maintain the authenticity and DNA of the original Wu Wear, Power has been brought on to serve as the brand’s “Historic Creative Consultant.”
The collection makes its first debut this week during Agenda in Las Vegas, Nevada (Aug. 14-16) with pieces available at retail for the 2017 Holiday season, and a full fashion line launching in Spring/Summer 2018 during the Wu-Tang Clan’s 25th Anniversary of the brand and the classic album “Enter the 36 Chambers.” The line will be available at select major retail chains internationally.
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Despacito Now Has Second-Longest Run At #1 In History
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, ties for the second-longest streak in the 59-year history of the Billboard Hot 100, sitting at #1 for a 14th week.
“Despacito” becomes one of an elite nine singles to have led the Hot 100 for at least 14 weeks, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception. It logs the longest lead since Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!,” featuring Bruno Mars, reigned for 14 weeks in 2015. Only Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” has spent more time on top: 16 weeks in 1995-96.
The song also equals the longest run at #1 for a primarily non-English language hit, tying the 14-week rule of Los Del Rio’s “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” in 1996.

The Prince Estate and Pantone Unveil Love Symbol #2 logo
The Prince Estate, alongside Pantone Color Institute, the global color authority, announced today the creation of a standardized custom color to represent and honor international icon, Prince. The (naturally) purple hue, represented by his “Love Symbol #2” was inspired by his custom-made Yamaha purple piano, which was originally scheduled to go on tour with the performer before his untimely passing at the age of 57. The color pays tribute to Prince’s indelible mark on music, art, fashion and culture.
Prince’s association with the color purple was galvanized in 1984 with the release of the film Purple Rain, along with its Academy Award-winning soundtrack featuring the eponymous song. While the spectrum of the color purple will still be used in respect to the “Purple One,” Love Symbol #2, will be the official color across the brand he left behind.
“The color purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever,” said Troy Carter, Entertainment Advisor to Prince’s Estate.
The ‘Purple One’ made a statement and challenged cultural norms through both his well-known music and personal style. In addition to the Oscar, Prince won seven Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for Purple Rain. Both “Purple Rain” and “1999” were entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the very first year he was eligible.
Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute said: “We are honored to have worked on the development of Love Symbol #2, a distinctive new purple shade created in memory of Prince, ‘the purple one.’ A musical icon known for his artistic brilliance, Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style. Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself.”
The Estate is in conversation with various partners about collaboration on products that incorporate the custom logo and colour.
