Justin Bieber & Bloodpop Release “Friends”

0

Justin Bieber and BloodPop have released “Friends” today via GENPOP Corp. / RBMG / Schoolboy / Def Jam / Republic / Universal. “Friends” is BloodPop®’s official single debut, and it is available now at all digital retailers.

Longtime friends, the duo first collaborated in 2015 for Bieber’s triple-platinum three-time GRAMMY Award-nominated album Purpose. “Friends” reunites the powerhouse team behind the album’s history-making 8-times platinum selling single “Sorry,” including songwriters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter.

Standing at almost seven feet tall, BloodPop is a BIG artist and a member of the generation of pop. He’s written songs for and worked with many of the most innovative members of pop music’s glitterati, from Grimes and HAIM to Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Madonna. His artistic vision is aggregated from the internet hive mind of memes, games and stickers.

Global superstar Justin Bieber is once again ruling the summer airwaves and dominating the charts. His smash hit the “Despacito” Remix has reigned at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a record fourteen consecutive weeks, and has shattered global records for the most-streamed song of all time. Justin recently made history with “Despacito” and the DJ Khaled-collaboration “I’m The One” as the first artist ever to tally new No. 1s on the Hot 100 in consecutive weeks, Bieber’s fourth and fifth No. 1 singles. Justin’s Purpose album – released on November 13, 2015 – opened at #1 in over 100 countries around the world, has sold over 10 million copies globally to date, and garnered a 2016 Grammy nomination for Album Of The Year. Purpose shattered global streaming records and has yielded three consecutive #1 singles in the US “What Do You Mean”, “Sorry”, and “Love Yourself”, which received a Grammy nomination for Record Of The Year. In late 2015, all three tracks landed at #1, #2 and #3 on the UK singles chart, surpassing a record previously held by The Beatles and making Bieber the artist to ever accomplish such a feat. In February 2016, Justin won his first Grammy: Best Dance Song for the Purpose track “Where Are You Now.” Justin Bieber is the first artist to reach over 10 Billion views on VEVO. In 2014, Justin was ranked by Twitter as the #1 most tweeted about musical artist of the year. He has released five number-one albums to-date and has starred in two films, Never Say Never (2011) and Believe (2013). In 2011, he was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy. In 2013, Bieber received a Diamond award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to recognize his single “Baby” as the best-selling digital song of all-time with over 10 million copies sold.

Music Mural Featuring The Band, David Clayton-Thomas, Rush, To Tower Over Toronto’s Yonge Street

0

Having achieved eye-popping success with its first giant music mural, the Downtown Yonge BIA has commissioned a second 22-storey tribute to Toronto’s musical heritage. The new mural will cover the entire south face of the Toronto Community Housing building at 423 Yonge Street, complementing the existing mural on the north wall.

“These murals are dazzling sights to celebrate amazing sounds,” says Downtown Yonge BIA Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Mark Garner. “They are a stunning visual reminder of the long, vibrant history of music in Downtown Yonge, which continues today.”

The first mural featured images from the 1950s and ‘60s. The new fresco also celebrates music legends from that era, augmented by 1970s and ‘80s stars. Luminaries to grace the 2nd mural include The Band, David Clayton-Thomas, Rush, GODDO, Carole Pope, Kim Mitchell, Salome Bey and Lonnie Johnson. Once again, marquees from landmark Toronto music venues will fill out the scene, including the Brown Derby Tavern, Gasworks, Piccadilly Tube and A&A Records.

Artist Adrian Hayles, who created the first mural, has begun work on the new 70-metre-tall artwork, which is expected to take 2-3 months to complete.

“Great cities all over the world have murals as part of their public realm. We think the music mural fits perfectly with the vision for a vibrant Yonge Street – combining visual and musical artistry,” Garner says.

The new mural is part of the Downtown Yonge BIA’s Music Strategy, an ambitious, multi-pronged plan to re-establish the area as a ‘Music Mecca.’

The mural is supported by StreetARToronto (StART), an initiative of the City of Toronto, Transportation Services Division, and a central feature of Council’s Graffiti Management Plan. The plan encompasses a pro-active approach to eliminating graffiti vandalism, while adding vibrancy and visual interest to city streets.

Weird Al Interrupts Bruce Springsteen As George Michael Pops Out Of Nowhere

The premise of Al TV is that Weird Al Yankovic uses his private satellite transmitter to commandeer the airwaves of a music video station in order to show the videos that he wants to watch. Primarily a parody of MTV itself, it featured commercials for imaginary products, fake interviews with celebrities, comments on the latest music news, letters from fans, and bizarre non sequiturs. For fake interviews, the show edits footage from unrelated outside interviews and manipulates it such that Al appears to be interviewing the celebrity in a silly or mocking way.

R.E.M. fans should take a look at this video video which I’d never seen before. The visuals are stunning, the sound is great, this is a riveting, time-stopping brilliant performance.
