When the Music Is Stripped Out of the A-HA ‘Take On Me’ Video…This is SO Creepy.

Mario Wienerroither has taken the famous video for the A-HA song “Take On Me“, stripped the music out and dubbed in his own VERY creepy sounds. Without the music, it becomes something out of The Shining or The Postman Rings Twice.

Brett Eldredge Announces Self-Titled Album Due August 4

0

Two years, four chart-topping songs and one smash Christmas record (Glow) later, Brett Eldredge announced Tuesday morning on TODAY the follow-up to his No. 1 album Illinois. Joining Kathie Lee and Hoda to broadcast the 2017 CMT Music Awards nominations, Eldredge revealed that his brand new, self-titled album is due August 4.

“It’s kind of crazy to see an album cover with just your name on it,” Eldredge said. “I think that shows what I want to say with this album. Maybe it takes a little bit of guts to put out a self-titled album – but if it’s 100% honestly you, then that should come across through the music. That’s my name and I hope my fans love me for me. Hopefully they feel the connection of these songs and they help them through their everyday lives. Because that’s why I make this music.”

The album will feature Eldredge’s latest Top 30 and climbing single “Somethin’ I’m Good At,” which already boasts over 10.2 million on-demand streams. He debuted the song on national television with his performance on the 52nd ACM Awards, and it quickly earned praise with Rolling Stone proclaiming “…it’s as entertaining as it is unpredictable…” and Taste of Country declaring, “Brett Eldredge’s new single ‘Somethin’ I’m Good At’ is a flat out, all-caps, country music JAM.”

Eldredge is launching into the biggest summer of his career hot off of a year of success. His No. 1 single “Wanna Be That Song” was recently certified Gold by the RIAA and just earned a nomination for his first-ever CMT Video of the Year Award. He has earned a total of seven chart-topping hits, including his holiday duet of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with Grammy-winner Meghan Trainor, and is taking all of them and more on the road on Luke Bryan’s “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” tour.

Gordon Lightfoot biography to be published in September by Nick Jennings

0

Lightfoot is the definitive biography of Canada’s most beloved singer-songwriter, a legendary musician who helped define the folk-pop era. Publisher Penguin Canada will release the book on Sept. 26, 2017.

From the tender ballad of “Beautiful” to the historical lament of “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” to the plaintive political plea of “Black Day in July,” Gordon Lightfoot’s songs have inspired and enchanted fans for more than fifty years. Beloved by a devoted Canadian audience, Lightfoot’s work has been performed and admired by musicians from around the world, including Joni Mitchell, Nico, Ronnie Hawkins and Robbie Robertson. Nobel Prize-winner Bob Dylan once listed “Sundown” and “If You Could Read My Mind” among his favourite Lightfoot songs, before adding, “I can’t think of any I don’t like.” In addition to winning nearly every Canadian music award, in 2012, Lightfoot was inducted into the American Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside such luminaries as Leonard Cohen, Kris Kristoffersen, and Dylan; it honoured Lightfoot as a singer who helped “define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and ’70s.”

Biographer Nick Jennings has had unprecedented access to the notoriously reticent musician. He chronicles Lightfoot’s early efforts–his school principal recorded a disc of “Gordie” singing at age 9–to his beginnings as a songwriter to his heyday in concert halls around the globe. Possessed of a strong work ethic and a perfectionist bent, Lightfoot brought discipline to his craft and performances. But he partied just as hard in that rock ‘n’ roll era, and alcoholism began to take its toll. Lightfoot toured relentlessly and his personal life suffered as marriages and relationships unravelled. At 63, he suffered an aortic aneurysm that nearly killed him and kept him in a coma for six weeks. But his amazing stamina helped him survive and miraculously saw him on stage once again, resuming his touring and yearly sold-out show at Massey Hall.

Jennings paints an unforgettable portrait of an artist in the making, set against the turbulent era of sex and drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. Voices from the music industry mix with loyal fans to illustrate how the boy from small-town Ontario became the legendary bard of Canada. Stuffed with anecdotes and the singer’s own reminisences, Lightfoot is an exhilarating read.

Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Bacon and Chris Stapleton Perform as ZZ Top in First Draft of ‘Legs’

0

First Drafts of Rock takes a look at the original version of ZZ Top’s “Legs.”

She’s got legs
She knows how to use them
She never begs
She knows how to choose them
She’s got arms
They’re like legs but on her upper half
She’s got elbows
She scrubs ’em when she takes a bath

She’s got hands
She knows how to wave them
She’s got eyebrows
She knows how to raise them
She’s got nostrils
She knows how to flare them
She’s got a butt cheek
She’s actually got a pair of them

She’s my baby
She’s my baby
Yeah, it’s alright!

She’s got teeth
Sometimes calls them chompers
She’s got feet
Sometimes calls them stompers
She’s got a belly button
An innie not an outie
She’s got kneecaps
Also calls them chompers

She’s got a head
In Spanish it’s “cabeza”
And on the front of her head
She’s also got a face-a
She’s got a rib cage
I learned that from an x-ray
She’s got thumbs
She uses them to text me

What is texting?
What is texting?
It’s 1983!

(Kick-butt guitar solo)

She’s got a pencil
Hey Frank, that’s not a body part
What about a napkin?
Nope, still not a body part
How about a necktie?
That’s closer to a body part
What about just neck then?
Bingo, that’s a body part

She’s got a neck, she’s got a neck,
This song is called “Neck”
Neck!
Neck!
Neck!
Neck!
Neck!
Neck!
Neck!
Neck!
