The Who Announce ‘Quadrophenia’ SDE Exclusive Blu-Ray Audio With New Dolby Atmos Mixes

‘Quadrophenia’, the sixth studio album by The Who, receives a new Super Deluxe Edition exclusive blu-ray audio release scheduled for February 2026. First released as a double album in October 1973 on Track Records, the project marked the band’s second rock opera, set in London and Brighton in 1965 and focused on a young mod named Jimmy. The album reached #2 on both the U.K. and U.S. album charts and produced the singles “5:15”, “The Real Me”, and “Love, Reign O’er Me”.

The SDE blu-ray presents newly completed 2025 Dolby Atmos, 5.1, and stereo mixes by Richard Whittaker, developed with close reference to the original 1973 stereo mix by Ron Nevison and Pete Townshend alongside the 1990s stereo remix by Jon Astley. Additional content includes instrumental versions of the 2025 mixes, the Quadrophenia 5.1 EP originally issued in 2011, and the 2013 stereo remaster. This release is limited to the SDE blu-ray format only, with no vinyl or box set editions planned.

Numbered #57 in the SDE Surround Series, the blu-ray follows the packaging style of previous entries and ships with a collectible slipcase. Pre-orders are available for a two-week window, closing on January 29, 2026, ahead of the February 27, 2026 release date. This edition stands as a focused audio presentation designed specifically for surround and immersive listening formats.
